  • With the development of artificial intelligence(AI), the jobs of many human experts are threatened, and this also applies to the legal profession. This study attempted to investigate whether AI can actually replace humans in the legal profession, especially the role of judges making final judgments. For this purpose, from the perspective of uniqueness neglect, this study was conducted to confirm the effect of involvement and the severity on acceptance of the judgment made by the AI judge (Experiment 1) and the AI jury (Experiment 2). The involvement was manipulated as if the subject who was sentenced for committing a crime was his or her family (mother, father) or stranger, and the severity was manipulated by the extent of the damage, the perception of the crime, and the number of applied crimes. In Experiment 1, the interactive effect of involvement and severity was found. Specifically, when the involvement was low, the acceptance of AI judges was higher in high severity (vs. low severity). Conversely, when the involvement was high, the acceptance of AI judges was higher in low severity (vs. high severity). The same interactions as in Experiment 1 occurred in Experiment 2. Specifically, when the involvement was low, a larger number of AI jury members were allocated in high severity (vs. low severity). On the other hand, when the involvement was high, the number of AI juries increased in low severity (vs. high severity). This study has implications in that it is the first experimental study in Korea on artificial intelligence legal judgment and that it presents the prospects for the jobs of legal experts.

  • The ordinary term 'believe' is polysemous and thus its meaning varies depending on contexts. Little attention, however, has been paid to its context sensitivity in philosophical discussions, and thereby unnecessary problems tend to be brought about in philosophy. This article explores the different meanings of the term 'believe' to serve as a steppingstone to the solving or dissolving of those problems. To begin, it discusses two different mental attitudes 'believe' stands for, i.e., belief as an involuntary mental disposition and pragmatic acceptance as a mental action, and then suggests and explicates another mental action 'believe' referes to, which I call 'epistemic acceptance'. It will be revealed that epistemic acceptance is a secondary mental action which is performed in a context where epistemic reason and non-epistemic reason compete each other. Then, attention is given to several questions concerning epistemic acceptance and answers to them are provided. The issue of whether epistemic acceptance is analyzable and of the relation between epistemic acceptance and judgment will be addressed in the course of answering them. Finally, a brief prospect is put forward that distinction of different mental attitudes 'believe' stands for will bring a new perspective to solve some philosophical problems, especially, with regard to the issue of the nature of epistemic norm.

  • This study investigated whether judgments of sexual violence involving juvenile victims vary by history of victim's juvenile prostitution, victim's behavior conforming to stereotypes of an "ideal" victim, and relationships between victim and perpetrator. The study also examined the effects of participants' level of authoritarianism and rape myth acceptance on their judgments of sexual violence. A total of 335 participants(170 females, 165 males) in their 20s to 50s assessed the degree of victim blaming and perpetrator sentencing. This study examined the effects of participants' gender and age on the judgments of victim blaming and perpetrator sentencing, and the mediation effects of authoritarianism and rape myth acceptance. As a result, participants blamed the victim more and imposed a lighter sentence on the perpetrator when the juvenile victim did not conform to the image of an "ideal" victim of sexual violence as opposed to a "typical victim". They also blamed the victim more when the victim and the perpetrator met through a chat application than when the victim and the perpetrator had known each other. Male participants as opposed to female participants blamed the victim more, punished the perpetrator more lightly, and exhibited a higher level of authoritarianism and rape myth acceptance. The older the participants were, the more they blamed the victim and the higher they demonstrated rape myth acceptance. The effect of the participants' gender on the judgment of the perpetrator punishment was mediated by rape myth acceptance, and the effect of the participants' gender and age on the victim blaming was mediated by authoritarianism and rape myth acceptance.

  • An analysis of the annual frequency of collapse(AF) is performed for each bridge pier exposed to ship collision. From this analysis, the impact lateral resistance can be determined for each pier. The bridge pier impact resistance is selected using a probability-based analysis procedure in which the predicted annual frequency of bridge collapse, AF, from the ship collision risk assessment is compared to an acceptance criterion. The analysis procedure is an iterative process in which a trial impact resistance is selected for a bridge component and a computed AF is compared to the acceptance criterion, and revisions to the analysis variables are made as necessary to achieve compliance. The distribution of the AF acceptance criterion among the exposed piers is generally based on the designer's judgment. In this study, the acceptance criterion is allocated to each pier using allocation weights based on the previous predictions.

  • This study is a survey of people who are return to farming on the intention of accepting ICT convergence technology in agriculture. The research targets were 218 people based on convenience and judgment sampling methods, and the exploratory factor analysis and multiple return analysis were performed with SPSS 22.0. As a result, the independent variables such as performance expectation, effort expectation, and social influence had a positive effect on the acceptance intention of ICT convergence technology in agriculture. In addition, the moderating effects of innovation resistance on these influence relationships were also verified. The limitations of this study are the lack of verification of perception changes and the inability to control variables. As a result of this research, the results of the UTAUT in other fields were confirmed in this study. It is hoped that this study will further facilitate the research of agriculture in ICT convergence technology.

  • In the current study, we explore how women decide whether to accept or reject a potential match offered by a dating app (Tinder). Specifically, we were trying to identify overlying factors that influence the decision and understand how women make a judgment based on limited cues provided by a Tinder profile. Women largely base their decision on the perceived attractiveness and character of the potential match. The findings suggest that attractiveness is highly subjective, with no universal rules that can be quantified; thus, it is hard to predict acceptance of the potential match. There are however factors that contribute significantly to profile rejection, such as a big age difference and the inability to clearly see the face of the person.

In this study, the acceptance criterion is allocated to each pier using allocation weights based on the previous predictions. To determine the design impact lateral resistance of bridge components such pylon and pier, the numerical analysis is performed iteratively with the analysis variable of impact resistance ratio of pylon to pier. The design impact lateral resistance can vary greatly among the components of the same bridge, depending upon the waterway geometry, available water depth, bridge geometry, and vessel traffic characteristics. More researches on the allocation model of AF and the determination of impact resistance are required.

  • This study empirically examined the effect of married women's self-awareness on the acceptance of extra-marital relationships and the mediating effects of individuals' criticism of television's drama about infidelity. The data was obtained by conducting a survey of married women (304 persons) and was analyzed based on the Structural Equal Model (SEM). The notable findings are as follows. First, the respondents are generally less receptive to extramarital relationships. Of the total respondents, 46.7% do not accept extramarital relations. 43.8% of the respondents showed an unclear position on extra-marital relationships, and about 10% of respondents showed an accepting position on extramarital affairs. This suggests that extramarital relationships can emerge as a real issue that is important for married women. Second, self-awareness does not directly affect married women's acceptance of extramarital affairs, however, 'self-awareness' proved to have a significant effect on 'acceptance to extramarital relationships' by using 'criticism' as a full mediation effect for affair-themed TV dramas. The effects of critical thinking and the judgment of married women on the content of TV dramas containing adultery has been confirmed to be a very important aspect of married women's understanding of extramarital relationships. Some practical and political implications are discussed based on this study's findings.

  • To overcome the pandemic, a new strategy for innovation is in demand throughout the value chains of the fashion industry that emphasize the importance of fashion technology. Accordingly, as various viewpoints and fields of debate are unfolding to consider the direction of change led by fashion technology, it is necessary to make an active value judgment precedent by understanding the differences between various opinions. This study aims to derive keywords from fashion technology used during the pandemic, to infer the characteristics of each type of perspective and to understand their characteristics. For the research, this study combines text mining analysis and content analysis. Text mining analysis is used to find statistical patterns by collecting keywords from big data from online media, and content analysis is used to interpret the data qualitatively. After analyzing the results of this study, the following observations are made. First, the perspective of positive acceptance seeks to maximize the perception and sensory action of fashion through technology; this amplifies experience, an opportunity for innovation and efficiency. Second, critical vigilance highlights the side effects of radical changes in fashion technology, characterized by concerns about capital-centered polarization, threats to human rights, and infringement of creative thinking. Lastly, the perspective of gradual adoption is the gradual convergence of technologies, characterized by the pursuit of an appropriate balance.
