진동대실험에 의한 동조액체기둥감쇠기의 동적특성 (Dynamic Characteristics of Tuned Liquid Column Dampers Using Shaking Table Test)

  • Shaking table test was carried out to obtain dynamic characteristics of TLCDs with uniform and non-uniform sections for both horizontal and vertical tubes. The input to the table is harmonic acceleration with constant magnitude. The output is horizontal dynamic force which is measured by load cell installed below the TLCD. Transfer functions are experimentally obtained using the ratio of input and output. Natural frequency, the most important design factor, is compared to that by theoretical equation for TLCDs with five different water levels. System identification process is performed for experimentally obtained transfer functions to find the dynamic characteristics of head loss coefficient and effective mass of TLCDs. It is found that their magnitudes are larger for a TLCD with non-uniform section than with uniform section and natural frequencies are close to theoretical ones.

Seismic response simulations of bridges considering shear-flexural interaction of columns

  • Bridge columns are subjected to combined actions of axial force, shear force and bending moment during earthquakes, caused by spatially-complex earthquake motions, features of structural configurations and the interaction between input and response characteristics. Combined actions can have significant effects on the force and deformation capacity of RC columns, resulting in unexpected large deformations and extensive damage that in turn influences the performance of bridges as vital components of transportation systems. This paper evaluates the seismic response of three prototype reinforced concrete bridges using comprehensive numerical models that are capable of simulating the complex soil-structural interaction effects and nonlinear behavior of columns. An analytical approach that can capture the shear-flexural interacting behavior is developed to model the realistic nonlinear behavior of RC columns, including the pinching behavior, strength deterioration and stiffness softening due to combined actions of shear force, axial force and bending moment. Seismic response analyses were conducted on the prototype bridges under suites of ground motions. Response quantities of bridges (e.g., drift, acceleration, section force and section moment etc.) are compared and evaluated to identify the effects of vertical motion, structural characteristics and the shear-flexural interaction on seismic demand of bridges.

  • 대용량 동기 발전 전동기 운전에는 주로 사이리스터를 이용한 정지형 주파수 변환 장치(SFC : Static Frequency Converter)시스템이 널리 사용되고 있다. 많은 문헌들에 의해 SFC시스템 운전 알고리즘이 제시되어 있지만 대부분이 초기 기동 및 정격속도까지의 기동 운전에 관해 언급되어 있으며 실제 가스터빈, 양수발전소등과 같은 산업에 적용되고 있는 계통 연계를 통한 정격 속도 운전 및 정지시의 회생 제동에 관한 기술적 언급은 자세히 설명되어 있지 않다 본 논문은 SFC를 활용한 동기 발전 전동기 운전의 전 영역 운전에 관한 알고리즘을 제시하였다. 실제 산업 현장에 적용되고 있는 기동 제어 영역, 계통 연계에 의한 정속도 운전 영역 그리고 회생 제동 제어 영역 각각의 알고리즘을 제시하였으며 실효성 및 타당성을 실험을 통하여 검증하였다.

시뮬레이션을 통한 레이저 융삭 추진의 우주 쓰레기 제거 응용 가능성 연구 (Research on Applicability of Laser Ablation Propulsion to Space Debris Removal by Simulations)

  • Laser ablation propulsion(LAP) is the method to create impulse by laser ablation. It can be used to deorbit the space debris(SD), as its long-range property and versatility on any material. In this paper, we find out several requirements of the LAP system(LAPS) to deorbit the SD by simple numerical calculations of the SD orbit and laser beam flux. As a result, minimum operable altitude angle turned out to be a crucial variable to the LAPS. Moreover, if minimum operable altitude angle is 10°, and if the minimum distance between the LAPS and the SD is below 450 km, 1 m/s2 is sufficient to deorbit the SD by once. With 18 kJ/3 ns pulsed laser and cube shaped 100 kg SD, 1 m/s2 acceleration can be achieved by increasing the pulse repetition rate over 34~53 Hz, depending on the size of the SD. This capability could compare with the conceptual design of the Japan Establishment for a Power-laser Community Harvest(J-EPoCH) facility, which include 8 kJ, 5 PW@100 Hz laser.

생존분석을 활용한 과속방지턱 영향구간 분석 (Identifying Roadway Sections Influenced by Speed Humps Using Survival Analysis)

  • 본 연구에서는 과속방지턱으로 인해 통과차량이 제한속도 이하로 주행하게 되는 구간을 영향구간이라 정의하였다. 이를 과속방지턱 통과 전 구간 사이 구간 통과 후 구간으로 구분한 뒤, 단독 및 연속 설치 여부 차종 시간대 등 다양한 요인들로 인한 변화를 분석하였다. 특히, 사이 구간에서는 구간 내에서 제한속도 이하로 주행한 거리의 비율을 유효영향구간비율로 정의하여 분석하였다. 스피드건으로 과속방지턱을 통과하는 차량들의 속도궤적을 수집하여 영향구간의 길이를 산출하였고, 생존분석을 이용하여 추정한 영향구간의 생존함수를 비교하였다. 설치 형태에 따른 변화 분석 결과, 50m 간격 연속형 과속방지턱의 통과 전 평균 영향구간 길이는 단일형보다 75.3% 길었으며, 통과 후 평균 영향구간은 18.9% 긴 것으로 나타났다. 연속형 과속방지턱의 유효영향구간비율은 30m와 50m 간격에서 각각 81.0%와 76.0%로 큰 차이가 없었으나, 제한속도 이하로 주행한 절대적 길이는 각각 24.3m와 38.0m로 50m 간격에서 더 길었다. 차종별로 추정된 영향구간의 생존함수에 대해 로그순위검정을 수행한 결과 연속형 과속방지턱의 영향구간이 단일형 과속방지턱보다 길다는 것이 통계적으로 유의하였다. 차종은 단일형 과속방지턱에서 유의한 차이를 나타냈으나, 주야 시간대는 유효한 요인이 아닌 것으로 판명되었다. 본 연구의 결과는 과속방지턱의 적정 설치 위치 또는 연속형 과속방지턱의 적정 간격 산정의 근거로 활용할 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.

도로환경특성을 고려한 안전속도 산정에 관한 연구 (Estimation Desirable Safety Speed based on Driving Condition on Rural Highways)

  • PURPOSES : The causes of traffic accidents can be classified into the factors of highway users, vehicles, and driving environments. Traffic accidents result from the deficiency in single or combination of these three factors. The objective of this study is to define the "potentially hazardous sections of highway" in terms of traffic safety considering these three factors. METHODS : The test drivers performed repeated driving on these highway sections. The drivers and passengers recorded the sections on which the driving was uncomfortable, and the speeds on the sections excluding the uncomfortable sections were used for the development of the model. RESULTS : The model is composed of three sub-models for each of the horizontal curve, tangent, and the section where the curve starts/ends. The safe driving behavior coefficients by the horizontal curvature were derived by comparing the maximum operating speeds at which the vehicle may slide or deviate and the speeds at which the drivers feel comfort. The safety speeds on tangent were derived by the length of tangent section considering the driver's desired speeds under the traffic condition on which the drivers hardly influenced by the other vehicles. For the sections where the curve starts/ends, the driving behaviors were classified by the distances between the curves, and the safe acceleration/deceleration speeds were derived on which the drivers enter/exit the curve sections safely. CONCLUSIONS : Safety speed could then be regarded that the model suggested in this study may be useful to define the potentially hazardous highway section and contribute the improvement of highway safety.

열차 운행 중인 기관사의 각성상태 분석에 관한 연구 (A Study Concerning Analysis of Arousal State of locomotive Engineering During Operating Train)

  • The study for the passenger's comfortableness of vehicles and the arousal of car drivers has been done widely. On the other hand, there are few studies for the locomotive engineers. Human error means that the mistakes made by human, recently it receives attention in the field of safety engineering and human engineering. Comparing the operating condition of train with car, because of the simplification of the visual stimulus, the arousal level on the train goes down easily. The arousal level down makes judgement down, the accident risk from human error is getting bigger. In this study, we measured bio-signals(ECG, EDA, PPG, respiration and EEG) from 6 locomotive engineers to evaluate their arousal state while they operated the train. Also we recorded the 3 axes acceleration signal showing the vibration state of train. Also, the existence of tunnels were simultaneously measured. At the station section where the train speed goes down, the size of vector's sum decreases because of reduced vibration. Beta component in EEG tends to increase at the entering point of each station and tunnel. It is due to the arousal reaction and tension growth. The mean SCR(skin conductance response) was more increased in neutral section. As the button control movement (body movement) increases in the neutral section, it is appeared that SCR increase. RR interval tends to gradually increase during train operation for 1 hour 40 minutes. However, It tends to sharply decrease at the stop station because strong concentration needed to stop train on the exact point. The engineer's arousal reaction can be checked through analysing the bio-signal change during train operation. Therefore, if this analysing result is adopted to the sleepiness prevention caution system, it will be useful for the safety train operation.

전달함수를 이용한 LCVA의 설계변수 분석 (Design Parameter Identification Using Transfer Function of Liquid Column Vibration Absorber (LCVA))

  • 본 연구의 목적은 첫째, 비선형성을 포함하는 액체기둥진동흡진기(LCVA)의 감쇠항에 대한 등가선형화된 운동방정식을 바탕으로하여 가진입력인 진동대 가속도와 출력인 제어력의 관계인 전달함수를 해석적인 식으로 규명하는 것이다. 둘째, LCVA의 주요설계변수인 수직기둥과 수평기둥의 단면적비의 변화에 따른 진동특성분석이다. 셋째, 동조의 수단으로 이용되는 수직기둥 액체의 높이를 변화시켜 진동특성을 분석하는 것이다. LCVA를 진동대 위에 설치하고 가진하여 제어력을 측정하여 실험 전달함수를 구하였다. 이것을 해석적인 전달함수와 비교 및 최적화작업을 수행하여 LCVA의 진동특성변수에 영향을 미치는 고유진동수, 감쇠비 및 질량비 등을 파악하였다. 실험결과, 액체 수위 및 단면적비의 변화에 따라 감쇠비 및 참여질량비의 특성이 변화하였다. 수직기둥과 수평기둥이 교차하는 엘보우에서 액체의 흐름 변화로 인하여, LCVA 실험체의 수직기둥 단면적이 작아질수록 감쇠비와 참여질량비가 증가하였다.

Measurement of Fluid Dynamic Characteristics around Stenotic Obstruction in a Circular Channel

  • We measured experimentally the properties of fluid dynamics, velocity fields, and the pressure, around stenotic obstruction located inside a circular channel structure. Particle image velocimetry system was employed to obtain velocity fields at the central section of the circular channel in the streamwise direction. The stenosis model used was made of acrylic material with different stenotic aspect ratios. The working fluid was water and it was returned by a centrifugal pump system. Pressure measurements were carried out to validate the effect of a narrow passageway. Results showed that the acceleration of gap flow through stenotic obstruction and the pressure drop in the recirculation regime behind the stenosis model can be observed.

  • The nonlinear dynamic behaviors of guardrail established on the local or high way have been investigated using BARRIER Ⅶ program with respect to four design variables such as section type of beams and posts, impact angle, impact velocity and vehicle weight. Computer simulation programs are sophisticated analytical models for analyzing dynamic vehicle/barrier interactions and provide a relatively inexpensive alternative to full scale crash testing. This study has been focused on the structural adequacy, occupant risk, and vehicle trajectory. For this purpose, the maximum deflection and impact force have been calculated to design the clear zone and to analyze effect of impact attenuation. Also, the acceleration of vehicle and exit angle after collision have been computed to estimate the occupant risk. From this study, it is suggested that we should strengthen the design criteria of guradrail to prevent from disastrous traffic accidents.
