  • Authorship is important for research integrity and publication ethics, acting as the basis for credit and academic achievement. Moreover, publication achievements have a significant impact on research grants and academic careers. Inappropriate authorship has been reported for several reasons, including complex interests and competitive environments. One form of this is representative authorship misuse, which includes honorary and ghost authorships. Kin co-authorship, such as parent-children authorship, is another form of inappropriate authorship that has recently emerged as a social problem in Korea. To address these issues, the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) has established criteria for authorship. Similarly, many journals use the Contributor Roles Taxonomy (CRediT) and Open Researcher and Contributor ID (ORCID) systems to prevent authorship misuse and systematically evaluate author credit and responsibility. Herein, this article reviews authorship and inappropriate authorship, as well as introduces methods to avoid authorship misuse.

  • This study aimed to analyze the research trends of research data academic papers from 2010 to 2024 to understand the research status of research data over the past 15 years. To achieve this goal, keyword frequency analysis and network centrality analysis were conducted on 14,921 academic articles published in Scopus DB. The keyword network analysis using UCINET, which was divided into the first period (2010-2014), second period (2015-2019), and third period (2020-2024) according to the period of publication of academic journals, revealed the main keywords studied regardless of the period, the keywords that attracted attention by period, and the keywords that decreased in attention over time. It was found that the most active topic of research data-related research in the last 15 years is data sharing, and most of the keywords with high Degree Centrality also have high Betweenness Centrality. The results of this study can be utilized as a basis for suggesting future research directions in the field of research data in Korea.

  • This study examined the output performance of papers published in international journals in the LIS field over the past 20 years and used the Gini coefficient and Hirschman-Herfindahl (HHI) index to understand the international gap in academic paper output and its changes. In addition, the characteristics of academic publications were visualized focusing on the top producing countries of academic papers, and differences according to sub-research areas were also identified. As a result of the analysis, first, although the United States and China are leading the publication of papers over the past five years, the results produced by the Netherlands showed relatively high influence and international and industrial cooperation results. Second, a high inter-country gap index (g= 0.7-0.8) has been maintained in terms of paper production and citation volume over the past 20 years, but the concentration of top countries is showing a trend of easing over time, as CR3 (Concentration Ration 3) decreased from 63.3% to 43.2%, HHI decreased from 2,129.6 to 976.1. Third, the LS field showed the highest gap between countries and a high degree of concentration centered on the United States, while the SM field was confirmed to be the most dispersed.

  • Although, recently, studies on Internet banking users' behavior have been frequently found in some academic journals, most of them have ignored security anxiety which may be considered as important factors influencing usages of Internet banking. We propose an research model for Internet banking users which is an extended version of the Technology Acceptance Model(TAM) by adding new variable, security anxiety. For empirical support of our model, we survey for 298 samples and analyze it by structured equation model(SEM). In result, our proposed model is proved as a valid one in which all hypotheses except one are accepted and the values of model fitness are relatively high.

  • The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic once again demonstrated how crucial it is to have unlimited access to scientific information. At the same time, the economic disparities that the pandemic revealed and aggravated made us realize that many of us cannot afford access to expert knowledge. While the international community is speculating about possible outcomes of the crisis, one can be said for sure, the pandemic accelerated many inevitable changes that would otherwise happen at a slower pace including increasing digitalization of the society and the expanding role of open data in the life of the academic community.

  • There is great confusion over what constitutes public diplomacy (PD), who its actors are, and the relevance of non-state actors. In the Korean context, in addition to the general fuzziness of the concept, linguistic peculiarities of the terms gonggong and gongjung both of which refer to public, waegyo, which is interchangeably used for international affairs, foreign policy and diplomacy, and juche which is simultaneously used for actor and agent, add more layers of confusion. While the term PD in Korea is based almost entirely on Western conceptualization, these linguistic peculiarities prevent fruitful conversations among scholars and practitioners on PD. Against this background, this research note explores and addresses conceptual ambiguities that pertains to PD and the policy discourse on the topic, particularly on non-state PD in Korea. The paper draws on Korean government's PD-related policy documents and Diplomatic White Papers and all relevant academic articles found in Korean-language journals registered in the Korean Citation Index (KCI), which are analysed to gain an understanding of the PD-related policy discourse in Korea.

  • This study analyzes a copyright possession of scholarly journal papers which is published from academic society. There are three ways where the author transfers the copyright to a society, the author has the copyright, and the author and society own jointly the copyright. These ways are analyzed with their strong and weak points and then presented the desirable plans.

Methods: All references in articles from 2007 to 2009 were compared with PubMed for authors, years, titles, journals, volume, and page accuracy. Four hundred twenty six references were reviewed. Errors were classified either major or minor. Results: Overall rate of inaccurate reference was 46.5%. 34.5% were major errors and 18.8% were minor errors. Most common major errors occurred in the authors, whereas most common minor errors occurred in the titles. Conclusion: It is necessary that authors, reviewers, and editorial committees make more efforts to enhance the reference accuracy.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the research trends on effortful control with a focus on those found in academic journals. This was done in an attempt to understand the conception of effortful control clearly and lay the foundations for future studies. An analysis was performed on frequencies by years, methodology, and content. Results showed that (1) 95 research articles on effortful control were published between January of 1999 and June of 2010. (2) Most research participants were school-aged children. (3) There were a number of ways that researchers have assessed the concept of effortful control, and the most frequently used measurement scale was the Rothbart's questionnaire for temperament. (4) The main content of the research was the relationships between effortful control and developmental domains (particularly, emotional and social development). More recently, researches examining environmental factors including family and peer environment have increased.
