Correlation between Knowledge level and Space Perception Ability of Pre-service Elementary School Teacher on 'Earth and Space' of Elementary Science (초등과학의 '지구와 우주' 영역에서 초등예비교사의 지식수준과 공간지각 능력과의 관계)

  • The purpose of this study is find out the correlation of level of knowledge of pre-service elementary teacher with space perception ability on 'Earth and Space' of elementary science. During the second semester of 2013, for 15 weeks, the classes were conducted for 3 hours per week and we find out knowledge Understanding degree and select terms offered by 5th grade science courses 'The solar system and the stars', 'Earth and Moon', 'change of seasons' section and measured space perception ability degree of pre-service elementary school teacher with a questionnaire. We analyzed the correlation of understanding level of knowledge in the field of astronomy of pre-service elementary school teacher with space perception ability. The results of the study are presented as follows. First, pre-service elementary school teacher showed a low level of knowledge understanding as it goes the upper grades about upper concept in 'The solar system and the stars', 'Earth and Moon', 'change of seasons' section' of astronomy area of elementary science 'Earth and space sector'. The pre-service elementary school teachers needs to acquire knowledge of astronomy area in elementary school curriculum. Second, pre-service elementary school teacher showed that there are differences individually in 'finding solid body' of sub-element of space perception ability. This shows that 'finding solid body' factor is associated with space perception ability. Third, in the section of 'The earth and the Universe' for elementary education, 'Reflection' and 'Finding solid body' which are low-level components of space perception ability were verified that have a corelationship with general grades in the astronomy conception test.

Effect of Light Conditions on the Seasonal Growth and Photosynthetic Ability in Several Wintergrasses (광환경의 차이가 한지형 잔디의 연중 생육 및 광합성 능력에 미치는 영향)

  • The short green period of zoysiagrass has been a problem in using for turf. This study was performed to check growth response of several wintergrasses under sunny and shady area in Korea. Wintergrasses of 5 species, 27 cultivars introduced from U.S.D.A., were used in this study. After establishment, two fluctuations of top growth were observed which varied according to the species; first, due to drought in May, second, due to high temperature and humidity from July to August. Red fescues and perennial ryegrasses showed severe growth retardation in sunny area during summer period. Kentucky bluegrasses and tall fescues maintained good Qualities nearly all the year round arid showed slight disease infections. Kentucky bluegrass 'Kenblue' and red fescue 'Agram' grown under shady area showed higher photosynthetic ability than under sunny area, except the temperature range from 30˚C to 40 ˚C under 40,000 lux light in red fescue 'Agram'. And the phorosynthesis was decreased at the temperature range from 35 ˚C to 40 ˚C. Key words: Wintergrass, Top growth, Visual rating, Photosynthesis, Poa pratensis. The Study on Proper Way for Engineering University Education: Based on the Perception of Current Competencies and Expected Competencies of Engineering Freshmen (공과대학 신입생의 핵심역량 인식수준을 통한 공학교육방향 연구)

  • This paper is a study on the perception of current competency and expected competency of engineering freshmen by extracting core competencies acquired from university education. It also aims to suggest proper way for engineering university education. This study extracts competencies in the following five areas as core competencies: 'knowledge on major area', 'cultural ability', 'foreign language ability', 'basic learning ability', 'intercommunication ability'. To achieve this purpose, this study surveyed 'C' university engineering department freshmen (584 students) with questionnaires about their perception of core competencies. The results are as follows. First, engineering freshmen perceived current competencies were weak in every area, especially their capacities in 'foreign language ability' area were perceived to be weakest. Their demand for education is the highest in 'foreign language ability' area, and the second higher in 'knowledge on major area'. Secondly, there exists meaningful difference between perception of current competency and expected competency depending on the gender, high school department (science/liberal arts), high school location, types of college admissions, and types of mathematics in NAST. According to these results, this study suggests enhancement of foreign language (English) education in engineering department, design and implementation of various educational program to overcome individual difference, promoting importance of competencies in the 'cultural abilty' and 'intercommunication abilty', necessity of continuous adjustment and complementation for engineering educational program through accumulation of feedback processes, activation of career education through engineering education and special programs.

Clinical Practice Ability and Satisfaction of Clinical Training of Health-Medical Information Management Major Students (보건의료정보관리 전공 학생의 임상실습 수행능력과 실습 만족도)

  • Objectives : This study aimed to investigate the clinical practice ability and satisfaction of clinical training of health-medical information management major students. Methods : The data were collected from 68 persons from students finished clinical training at medical record (information) team using self administered questionnaires. The data were analyzed using t-test, ANOVA and correlation with SPSS 22.0 version. Results: Performance of data collection, data management, and data analysis were analyzed in three areas of the job area. In terms of academic characteristics and correlation, they were not related to the level of satisfaction with the practical experience. Conclusions : Research on a virtuous cycle clinical practice program that analyzes the factors by assessing the satisfaction level of clinical practice in each area of health care information management will be conducted continuously.

Exploring the direction of Assessment in Korean High School Mathematics through College Scholastic Ability Test Mathematics Domain Changes (대학수학능력시험 수학 영역의 변화를 통해 살펴본 고등학교 수학 평가의 방향 탐색)

  • This study aimed to analyze the shifts in the mathematics domains of the College Scholastic Ability Test (CSAT) since its inception in 1993, with the intent of identifying improvements for the future. The goal is to provide insights for exploring the direction of assessment in Korean high school mathematics education. To this end, we focused on the test system, content area, and behavioral area within the CSAT mathematics domains. Key findings include: first, the test structure influences the assessment factors and item types, in addition to the examination time and number of items. Second, by analyzing the content area, we established a correlation between the national curriculum and assessment area, and confirmed the importance of setting the assessment area. Third, the examination of the behavioral area tended to the item-type fixation, demonstrating the necessity of the ongoing modifications in evaluation item types. Building upon these findings, we discuss the direction of an evaluation that considers the evolving demands and shifts within mathematics education.

  • In the existing curriculum of the Elementary computer Education emphasizes students' problem-solving ability and knowledge of informatics. However, current computer education focus on using application program. In order to raise students' problem-solving ability and logical thinking ability, it is necessary to learning about computer science education. Thereupon, this study applied unplugged learning method to the elementary student. To apply the play-based unplugged learning method to the area of information representation. As a result, unplugged learning method produced higher academic achievement than the lecture model. Also it was more positive in the affective area than the lecture model.

A Study on Interest and Application Ability in Meal Management of the middle School Students (남.녀 중학생의 식생활관리 단원에 대한 관심도 및 실행 능력)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the degree of interest and application ability in meal management chapters of the middle school students, and to provide basic informations for the improvements of Home Economics curriculum and teaching projects. The subjects were 555 middle school students(275 males, 280 females) in Chunchon area, Kangwon-do. Research data were collected by means of the questionnaire and statistically analyzed by frequency, percentage, standard deviation, t-test, F-test and correlation analysis using SPSS/win. The results of this study were summarized as follows: There were significant differences in the degree of interest and application ability according to gender, school years, home economics scholastic achievements, and father's role in preparing meal. The degree of interest and application ability was significantly higher in female than male. First grade students showed more interest and higher application ability than the third year. In general, the higher home economics scholastic achievement was, the higher the degree of interest and application ability was. The more father's role was in preparing meal, the higher student's degree of interest and application ability was. There was significant correlation between the degree of interest and the degree of application ability.(r=0.853, p< .001)

Development of a Maker Education Program Using Cement and Mold for Middle School Students and Effect on Convergence Ability for Creativity (시멘트와 거푸집을 이용한 중학교 메이커 교육 프로그램이 창의융합 역량에 미치는 효과)

  • The trend of maker education has been mainly focused on program using digital devices, but maker education programs that can make students' creative ideas instantly in various shapes and make them by hand is insufficient. Therefore, in this study, we developed a maker education program using cement and molds and analyzed Effect on the convergence ability for creativity of students. In the preparation stage, educational use cases about cement and molds and the study objects and contents were extracted through the literature review. In the development stage, teaching-learning materials were developed and validity and evaluation tools to measure convergence ability for creativity were selected. In the implementation stage, the expert validity test on the teaching-learning materials and convergence ability test for creativity was evaluated, In the evaluation stage, the effects of the whole area and sub-area of the convergence ability for creativity was analysed. As a result of the t-test for the whole area of convergence ability for creativity, the students who took the maker education program showed a significant change. The test results on the teaching-learning materials showed a positive response to the communication, cooperation ability, knowledge and humanism.

Development of remedial learning program for vocational high school students focused on the area of change and relation (특성화고등학교 학생을 위한 수학과 진단평가 및 보정학습 자료 개발 연구 - '변화와 관계' 영역을 중심으로-)

  • The mathematical ability is an essential element for achieving professional competencies and for enhancing application ability in a vocational world and exploring its experiences. In this aspect, for vocational high school students, it is an important and urgent issue to develop remedial learning programs for developing mathematical basic and application ability. In particular, the program is developed based on the individual achievement level, focused on a mathematical basic ability to be applied efficiently in a vocational world. Because of this reason, in this study, the program is comprised of two phases; one is diagnosis test and the other is remedial teaching and learning materials. Then, diagnosis test includes three test; I) level testing evaluation for selecting the subject of remedial learning, ii) pre-test for deciding on which area and level of the materials when students begin to study, and iii) post-test for confirming the learning status is satisfied and the possibility of next step(level) or the other area of the materials. To accomplish this, this study tried to devise an efficient remedial learning system. Based on the system, this study developed remedial learning programs on the four areas of number and quantity, change and relation, uncertain thing, and figure and shape in the middle school level. In particular, this program is comprised of two types of knowledge. One is K-knowledge which is an essential knowledge to achieve a basic mathematical ability. The other is C-knowledge which is the advanced knowledge required to apply efficiently in a vocational world. This paper deals with the content mentioned above, but examples of the materials is shown focused on the area of change and relation.

Difference analysis of importance perception and ability of communication among dental hygienists (치과위생사의 의사소통에 관한 중요도 인식과 능력 차이분석)

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study is to identify the importance of perception and communication ability among dental hygienists and provide evidence for the activation of communication education necessary to improve communication ability required in the actual dental field. Methods: A questionnaire survey was conducted on 227 members attending conservative education in 2020. Results: The following are mean scores of each area of communication according to importance: message conversion ability, 3.82 points; interpretation ability, 3.74 points; goal setting ability, 3.51 points; self-expression ability, 3.48 points; and role performance ability, 3.46 points. The ability was interpreted in the following order: interpretation ability, 3.61 points; message conversion ability, 3.56 points; role performance ability, 3.43 points; self-expression ability, 3.32 points; and goal setting ability, 3.10 points. The highest score in terms of importance of awareness was 4.27 points, the highest among interpretive abilities, that is, to 'listen carefully to know what the other person intends to say.' When it comes to communication skills, the highest score was 4.12 points for 'a nod or a facial expression of understanding while listening to each other.' Conclusions: In devel oping a training program related to communication for dental hygienists at the clinical site, the curriculum reflecting seven items that needs improvement should be revised; and through this, it is expected that dental hygienists' communication skills will be improved.
