Wireless Channel Management Scheme for ASMD Groups in Wireless N-screen Services

  • In this paper, a Wireless USB (WUSB) protocol is adopted for development of ASMD (Adaptive Source Multi Device) N-screen wireless services. WUSB is the USB technology merged with WiMedia PHY and Distributed-MAC (D-MAC). However, the current WUSB protocol can't provide seamless N-screen streaming services to moving WUSB devices in home network environment. Therefore, to provide the ASMD N-screen services through WUSB based on D-MAC protocol, a channel management scheme is proposed to support seamless mobility between adjacent ASMD groups for wireless IPTV N-screen services. In simulation results, proposed ASMD channel management (ACM) scheme is compared with conventional WUSB channel management scheme in view points of throughput, average path interference and energy consumption according to various numbers of nodes and elapsed simulation times. Through simulation results, it is explained that proposed ASMD channel management (ACM) scheme should be adopted in the WUSB protocol to realize ASMD N-screen wireless services.

Cross-media Storytelling Strategy Utilizing N-Screen Service: Focusing on ASMD (N스크린 서비스를 이용한 크로스미디어 스토리텔링 전략: ASMD를 중심으로)

  • This study discusses crossmedia storytelling strategy plans by utilizing N-Screen service. It conceptualizes the definitions of N-Screen service in terms of smart contents. Related previous researches are extensively introduced to clarify how N-Screen service would be different from previous similar services. Most domestic N-Screen services have adopted OSMU method which provides the same contents from various platforms. It is, however, centered only on a development company's one-sided service and neglects to reflect the characteristics of a media or platform. In this light of gap, this study introduces ASMD method which is based on cross media. By providing right contents services according to types of smart media and enhancing a user's participation, users can enjoy a variety of entertainment and rich contents experiences and development companies can expect better promotion effects and an increase in sales. Finally, this study argues for strategies of crossmedia storytelling by using ASMD method, based on both domestic and overseas examples of contents development with crossmedia. As more and more diverse forms of media and platform would be introduced in the future, new strategies and perspectives would be imperative to cope with new environment. Conventional OSMU method bears inherent limitations to cover the range of N-Screen application. This study discusses the ways to mitigate the limitations by proposing ASMD method with crossmedia.

  • N-Screen Service는 하나의 Content를 다양한 Device에서 사용가능하게 해주는 Service를 의미한다. 현재 N-Screen Service는 Content Service 형태로 봤을 때 OSMU(One Source Multi Use) Service를 제공한다. ASMU(Adaptive Source Multi Device) N-Screen Service의 조건으로 Device에 최적화된 Content를 제공하여야 한다. 이를 위해서는 Device에 최적화된 Content의 변환 및 Metadata의 이동이 자유로워야 한다. 본 논문에서는 ASMD를 지원하는 N-Screen Model을 제안한다. 특히 Home Network와 Cloud 사이의 Devicerks Content Metadata 이동과 Content 변환에 대한 방법을 제시하고자 한다.

  • In this paper, all elements used in integrated infrastructure for job competency assessments of NCS (National Competency Standards) will be merged into assessment system using multiple devices(ASMD). NCS is a systematic approach on required abilities (knowledge, technical expertise, attitude) to process the tasks in the fields by industry. Competiveness of ASMD design is that no limitation of time and space using personal devices like PC, laptop, smartphone, and tablet, while seeing screen, hearing, touching, speaking, and writing. Question type can be limitless to express the situation. To lead technologies and market for domestic and oversea assessment system, supporting on multiple devices with connectivity that will eliminate limitation of time and space is the key feature for design competitiveness. Design of integrated assessment system proposed in this paper can be applied to NCS, fundamental competency evaluation, online test, job aptitude test, and foreign language test which involve listening, reading, writing, and speaking. Compared with existing evaluation method, reduction of investment and operating cost will be greater. Along with development of ICT technologies, the next generation of integrated assessment system will be quickly changed to ASMD, which already involves connected service between internet and smart devices.

  • This paper describes a novel internal clock generator, called duty cycle-corrected analog synchronous mirror delay (DCC-ASMD). The proposed circuit is well suited for dual edge-triggered systems such as double data-rate synchronous DRAM since it can achieve clock synchronization within two clock cycles with accurate duty cycle correction. To evaluate the performance of the proposed circuit, DCC-ASMD was designed using a $0.35\mu$m CMOS process technology. Simulation results show that the proposed circuit generates an internal clock having $50\%$ duty ratio within two clock cycles from the external clock having duty ratio range of $40\;\~\;60$.

  • These days a great mix of traditional and digital contents such as movie, broadcasting, advertisement, e-books, music, game, animation, cartoon, character, knowledge information, and art performance are widely available. Many more are yet to come, with improved quality and added features. It is expected that all these contents will be evolved into a new breed of convergence content through the process of consolidation, expansion, integration, and recreation. Across the digital ecosystem, a new formula is being added to the industrial structure : 'Information/Content-Platform/Device-Goods/Service.' In the near future, as a result of technological innovation and convergence, the business sector will lose its boundaries as well, as businesses will be forced to look beyond the product itself and focus more on multi-functionality. Especially, in the era of creative economy, more policies need to be crafted in order to procure a new growth engine for the future with the agenda for convergence between humanities and technology. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to analyze the concept, factors, elements, types, and cases of convergence, which are the essence of content convergence. This analysis, with its focus on the convergence process, will help identify the effects and limits of content convergence as well as the prospects for convergence contents in the smart ecosystem under the creative economic system.
