  • Voice phishing is a cyber crime in which fake financial institutions, the Public Prosecutor's Office, and the National Police Agency are impersonated to find out an individual's Certification number and credit card number or withdraw a deposit. Recently, voice phishing has been carried out in a subtle and secret way. Analyzing the trend of voice phishing that occurred in '18~'21, it was found that there is a seasonality that occurs rapidly at a time when the movement of money is intensifying in the trend of voice phishing, giving ambiguity to time series analysis. In this research, we adjusted seasonality using the X-12 seasonality adjustment methodology for accurate prediction of voice phishing occurrence trends, and predicted the occurrence of voice phishing in 2022 using the ARIMA model.

  • Even though cars have a good effect on modern society, traffic accidents do not. There are traffic laws that define the regulations and aim to reduce accidents from happening; nevertheless, it is hard to determine all accident causes such as road and traffic conditions, and human related factors. If a traffic accident occurs, the traffic law classifies it as 'Negligence of Safe Driving' for cases that are not defined by specific regulations. Meanwhile, as Korea is already growing rapidly elderly population with more than 65 years, so are the number of traffic accidents caused by this group. Therefore, we studied predictive and comparative analysis of the number of traffic accidents caused by 'Negligence of Safe Driving' by dividing it into two groups : All-ages and Elderly. In this paper, we used empirical monthly data from 2007 to 2015 collected by TAAS (Traffic Accident Analysis System), identified the most suitable ARIMA forecasting model by using the four steps of the Box-Jenkins method : Identification, Estimation, Diagnostics, Forecasting. The results of this study indicate that ARIMA $(1, 1, 0)(0, 1, 1)_{12}$ is the most suitable forecasting model in the group of All-ages; and ARIMA $(0, 1, 1)(0, 1, 1)_{12}$ is the most suitable in the group of Elderly. Then, with this fitted model, we forecasted the number of traffic accidents for 2 years of both groups. There is no large fluctuation in the group of All-ages, but the group of Elderly shows a gradual increase trend. Finally, we compared two groups in terms of the forecast, suggested a countermeasure plan to reduce traffic accidents for both groups.

  • This study analyzes the number of Jeju-bound tourists according to travellers' purposes. We classify the travellers' purposes into three categories: "Rest and Sightseeing", "Leisure and Sport", and "Conference and Business". To see an impact of MERS outbreak occurred in May 2015 on the number of tourists, we fit seasonal ARIMA-Intervention model to the monthly arrivals data from January 2005 to March 2016. The estimation results show that the number of tourists for "Leisure and Sport" and "Conference and Business" were significantly affected by MERS outbreak whereas arrivals for "Rest and Sightseeing" were little influenced. Using the fitted models, we predict the number of Jeju-bound tourists.

  • Stock price is characterized as being mutable, non-linear and stochastic. These key characteristics are known to have a direct influence on the stock markets globally. Given that the stock price data often contain both linear and non-linear patterns, no single model can be adequate in modelling and predicting time series data. The autoregressive integrated moving average (ARIMA) model cannot deal with non-linear relationships, however, it provides an accurate and effective way to process autocorrelation and non-stationary data in time series forecasting. On the other hand, the neural network provides an effective prediction of non-linear sequences. As a result, in this study, we used a hybrid ARIMA and neural network model to forecast the monthly closing price of the Shanghai composite index and Shenzhen component index.

  • In this study, we conducted a prediction study to qualitatively identify the continuous growth rate that causes problems every year for deposit bank mortgage loans, identify the characteristic factors that could once again stabilize, and come up with measures for future quantitative analysis of mortgage loans and growth trends. Based on data analysis using the R program, which is widely used for big data analysis, the parameters of ARIMA model (0.1,1)(0.1,1)[12] were found to be most suitable. In these indicators, estimates over the next five years (60 months) increased 4.5% on average. However, this has limitations that do not reflect socio-environmental factors, which require further study of these limitations.

  • This paper addresses the safety concern that the SOH of batteries in electric vehicles decreases sharply when drivers change or their driving patterns change. Such a change can overload the battery, reduce the battery life, and induce safety issues. This paper aims to present the SOH as the changes on a dashboard of an electric vehicle in real-time in response to user pattern changes. As part of the training process I used battery data among the datasets provided by NASA, and built models incorporating linear regression and ARIMA, and predicted new battery data that contained user changes based on previously trained models. Therefore, as a result of the prediction, the linear regression is better at predicting some changes in SOH based on the user's pattern change if we have more battery datasets with a wide range of independent values. The ARIMA model can be used if we only have battery datasets with SOH data.

  • This paper presents a reservoir operation plan coupled with storage forecasting model to maintain a target storage and a critical storage. The observed storage data from 1990 to 2001 in the Geum-Gang agricultural reservoir in Korea have been applied to the low flow frequency analysis, which yields storage for each return period. Two year return period drought storage is then designated as the target storage and ten year return period drought storage as the critical storage. Storage in reservoir should be forecasted to perform reasonable reservoir operation. The predicted storage can be effectively utilized to establish a reservoir operation plan. In this study the autoregressive error (ARE) model and the ARIMA model are adopted to predict storage of reservoir. The ARIMA model poorly generated reservoir storage in series because only observed storage data were used, but the autoregressive error model made to enhance the reliability of the forecasted storage by applying the explanation variables to the model. Since storages of agricultural reservoir with respect to time have been affected by irrigation area, high or mean temperature, precipitation, previous storage and wind velocity, the autoregressive error model has been adopted to analyze the relationship between storage at a period and affecting factors for storage at the period. Since the equation for predicting storage at a period by the autoregressive error model is similar to the continuity equation, the predicting storage equation may be practical. The results from compared the actual storage in 2002 and the predicted storage in the Geum-Gang reservoir show that forecasted storage by the autoregressive error model is reasonable.

  • We are concerned with a long-term replenishment contract for the ARIMA demand process in a supply chain. The chain is composed of one supplier, one buyer and consumers for a product. The replenishment contract is based upon the well-known (s, Q) policy but allows us to contract future replenishments at a time with a price discount. Due to the larger forecast error of future demand, the buyer should keep a higher level of safety stock to provide the same level of service as the usual (s, Q) policy. However, the buyer can reduce his purchase cost by ordering a larger quantity at a discounted price. Hence, there exists a trade-off between the price discount and the inventory holding cost. For the ARIMA demand process, we present a model for the contract and an algorithm to find the number of the future replenishments. Numerical experiments show that the proposed algorithm is efficient and accurate.

  • In call forecasting literature, both the seasonal autoregressive integrated moving average(ARIMA) type models and seasonal linear models have been popularly suggested as competing models. However, their parallel comparison for the forecasting accuracy was not strictly investigated before. This study evaluates the accuracy of both the seasonal linear models and the seasonal ARIMA-type models when predicting intra-day call arrival rates using both real and simulated data. The seasonal linear models outperform the seasonal ARIMA-type models in both one-day-ahead and one-week-ahead call forecasting in our empirical study.
