Three different cats who had chronic kidney disease (CKD) were treated for more than one month with fluid therapy in an animal clinic. Although this long-term treatment and hospitalization, there was no clinical improvement in clinical signs as well as serum biochemical indexes including blood urea nitrogen (BUN), creatinine (CREA), and phosphate (PHOS). All cases were then injected three times with allogeneic stem cells through an intravenous route for treatment on Day 0, 7, and 14 or 30. On the same day, clinical observation and blood tests for serum biochemistry were conducted together. Upon administrating stem cells to the CKD cats, clinical conditions and the indexes of BUN and CREA were clinically improved within normal ranges. Additionally, one of the cats who had the renal cysts presented clinical improvement with showing decreased cysts size than before.

A cat who is a 15-year-old and spayed female visited an animal clinic with severe coughing symptoms. Since the cat's coughing symptoms had worsened from the age of 10 and X-rays showed a bronchial pattern in the lungs, it was diagnosed as Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). She received three injections of stem cells isolated from the amniotic membrane on days 0, 7, and 23. Although there was no improvement in the clinical findings on the x-ray, the number of coughing was significantly reduced. In addition, even after long-term follow-up post treatment for a month, she was stable with almost no coughing.

Hershberger assay is known as one of the in vivo-short-term scrrning assays for endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDCs), but this method is not a validated test system. In the present study, the establishment of Hershberger assay to detect EDCs was tried using a model substance, di(n-butyl)phthalate (DBP), a plasticizer for plastics. Thirty-six immature male rats were randomly assigned to six groups: DBP 0, 40, 200, and 1000mg/kg, a positive control (flutamide 20 mg/kg), and a combination group(DBP 1000mg/kg and testosterone 50 ug/kg). DBP and flutamide were administered by gavage to male rats from day 21 to 40 post partum. Testosterone was subcutaneously injected during the same period. We evaluated body weigth gain, weights of ventral prostate, seminal vesicle, and levator ani and bulvocavernous muscle, and serum concentrations of testosterone and lutenizing hormone in male rats. The weights of seminal vesicle and levator ani and bulvocavernous muscle of males receiving 1000mg/kg of DBP was significantly lower than controls. There was no effect of DBP-treatment on body weight gain, prostate weight, and hormone concentrations. In the positive control group, the weights of seminal vesicle and levator ani and bulvocavernous muscle of males receiving 20mg/kg of flutamide were significantly lower than controls. In the combination group, there was no effect of co-treatment of DBP and testosterone on all parameters effect against DBP. This method was found to be a useful short-term screening assay system for EDCs.

We tested Trichoderma harzianum as a biocontrol agent for Rhizoctonia solani AG2-1, using six natural antifungal materials to improve its efficacy. Among the six materials tested, peony (Paeonia suffruticosa) root bark (PRB) showed the strongest antifungal activity against R. solani AG2-1, and was not antagonistic to T. harzianum. Scanning electron microscopy showed that treatment with PRB extract resulted in shortened and deformed R. so/ani AG2-1 hyphal cells. The control of radish damping-off caused by R. so/ani AG2-1 was greatly increased by combined treatments of T. harzianum and PRB, as compared with either of the two treatments alone, with the control effect increased from 42.3-51.5% to 71.4-87.6%. The antifungal compound in PRB, which was isolated in chloroform and identified as paeonol by mass spectrometry, $^1H$ NMR, and $^{13}C$ NMR analyses, inhibited the growth of R. so/ani AG2-1 but not that of T. harzianum. Thus, PRB powder or extract may be used as a safe additive to T. harzianum to improve the control of the soil borne diseases caused by R. so/ani AG2-1.

A four-week-old female Scottish Fold cat weighting 0.6 kg was admitted for vaccination. During the physical examination, the liquid feces were observed from the vulva and the anus was imperforate. The location of a narrow fistula and distended colon were identified on the contrast radiography. Definitive diagnosis was made as type III atresia ani with rectovaginal fistula. Anal reconstruction and ligation of the fistula were successfully undertaken to treat atresia ani. After surgery, the cat was treated with lactulose and a special diet consisting of high fiber was fed to increase digestibility. The cat was able to control defecation after 2 weeks post-operation. There was no complication for 8 months after surgery.

The strain KIST612, initially identified as E. limosum, was a suspected member of E. callanderi due to differences in phenotype, genotype, and average nucleotide identity (ANI). Here, we found that E. limosum ATCC 8486^T and KIST612 are genetically different in their central metabolic pathways, such as that of carbon metabolism. Although 16S rDNA sequencing of KIST612 revealed high identity with E. limosum ATCC 8486^T (99.2%) and E. callanderi DSM 3662^T (99.8%), phylogenetic analysis of housekeeping genes and genome metrics clearly indicated that KIST612 belongs to E. callanderi. The phylogenies showed that KIST612 is closer to E. callanderi DSM 3662^T than to E. limosum ATCC 8486^T. The ANI between KIST612 and E. callanderi DSM 3662^T was 99.8%, which was above the species cut-off of 96%, Meanwhile, the ANI value with E. limosum ATCC 8486^T was not significant, showing only 94.6%. The digital DNA-DNA hybridization (dDDH) results also supported the ANI values. The dDDH between KIST612 and E. callanderi DSM 3662^T was 98.4%, whereas between KIST612 and E. limosum ATCC 8486^T , it was 57.8%, which is lower than the species cut-off of 70%. Based on these findings, we propose the reclassification of E. limosum KIST612 as E. callanderi KIST612.

This case report highlights the efficacy of traditional Korean medicine in treating chronic levator ani syndrome. A 47-year-old male suffered from chronic anorectal pain for 14 years. Over the last 5 months, the severity and frequency of the pain increased, and he was unresponsive to Western medicine and acupuncture outside Korea. The patient reported moderate anorectal pain from early morning until midday, affecting daily efficiency and concentration. The pain was triggered by defecation and alleviated by lying down. He was diagnosed with levator ani syndrome related to "cold symptoms of the liver and kidney - Yin", for which modified Nangan-jeon was prescribed. Indirect moxibustion (CV4, Ki1), Aconitum ciliare Decaisne pharmacopuncture (GV1, BL33), and acupuncture (HT7, ST36, SP6, LR3, LI4) were also administered weekly. After 8 weeks, the anorectal pain decreased by 2 points on a numeric rating scale, leading to patient satisfaction and return to his home country.

본 논문에서는 비접촉식 미세 측정 광학기에 의해 측정된 이미지를 Stitching 기술과 B-Spline 보간법에 의해 보다 빠르고, 정밀한 복원 기법을 제안한다. 이를 위해 먼저 각각의 이미지로부터 매칭, 피매칭 템플릿(Template)을 검출한다. 그런 다음 두 이미지의 오버랩(Overlap)되는 부분을 기준하여 기준면으로부터 roll, pitch, yaw 오차를 계산하여 매칭시킨다. 마지막으로, B-Spline 보간법에 의해 매칭된 부분을 연속화한다. 제안된 방법은 실험을 통해 그 응용 가능성을 증명한다.
