  • This paper presents an advanced method of simulation for EM(electromagnetic) environment that affects on mobile receivers. A new calibration algorithm in the process of simulation is introduced. With a proposed calibration method, the time required for simulation is reduced and this makes it possible to simulate a near-real time EM environment in a shielded anechoic chamber. EM environment data acquisition and logging techniques with GPS for simulation were developed.

  • Multiple strips are required for large area mapping using ALS (Airborne Laser Scanner) system. LiDAR (Light Detection And Ranging) data collected from the ALS system has discrepancies between strips due to systematic errors of on-board laser scanner and GPS/INS, inaccurate processing of the system calibration as well as boresight misalignments. Such discrepancies deteriorate the overall geometric quality of the end products such as DEM (Digital Elevation Model), building models, and digital maps. Therefore, strip adjustment for minimizing discrepancies between overlapping strips is one of the most essential tasks to create seamless point cloud data. This study implemented area-based matching (ABM) to determine conjugate features for computing 3D transformation parameters. ABM is a well-known method and easily implemented for this purpose. It is obvious that the exact same LiDAR points do not exist in the overlapping strips. Therefore, the term "conjugate point" means that the location of occurring maximum similarity within the overlapping strips. Coordinates of the conjugate locations were determined with sub-pixel accuracy. The major drawbacks of the ABM are sensitive to scale change and rotation. However, there is almost no scale change and the rotation angles are quite small between adjacent strips to apply AMB. Experimental results from this study using both simulated and real datasets demonstrate validity of the proposed scheme.

  • In this paper, we propose an efficient compression method of the integral images. The integral imaging is a well-known technique to represent and record three-dimensional images. The proposed method is based on three dimensional discrete cosine transform (3D-DCT). The 3D-DCT techniques for the integral images have been reported as an efficient coding method for the integral images which reduces the redundancies between adjacent elemental images. The proposed method is a compression method efficient to integral images using adaptive block mode(ABM), based on the 3D-DCT technique. In the ABM, 3D-DCT blocks adaptive to the characteristics of integral images are constructed, which produces variable block size 3D-DCT blocks, and then 3D-DCTs for the 3D blocks are performed. Experimental results show that the proposed method gives significant improvement in coding efficiency. Especially, at the high bit-rates, the proposed method is more excellent since the overhead incurred by the proposed method take less part of the total bits.

  • Availability is one of the important factor for developing weapon system, because it indicates the mission capability and sustainable life cycle management of weapon system. Recently, as weapon system becomes more advanced and more complex, availability estimation becomes more important to reduce the life cycle cost of weapon system. Modeling and simulation(M&S) is useful method to describe the availability of complex weapon system applying operational environment and maintenance plan. Especially agent based model(ABM) has the strength to describe interactions between agents and environments in complex system. Therefore, this paper presents the availability estimation of weapon system using agent based model. The sample data of part list and reliability analysis is applied to build availability estimation model. User agent and mechanic agent are developed to illustrate the behavior of operation and maintenance using formal specification. Storage reliability is applied to describe failure of each parts. The experimental result shows that this model is quite useful to estimate availability of weapon system. This model may estimate more reasonable availability, if full scale data of weapon system and real field data of operation is provided.

  • SGM (Semi Global Matching) can be used to find all the conjugate points between stereo images. Therefore, it enables high-density DSM (Digital Surface Model) production from high-resolution satellite images. However, water, shadows, and occlusion areas cause mismatching of the surrounding points in this method. Particularly, in buildings with large-parallax and elongated-shapes such as a Korean style apartment, it is difficult to reconstruct the 3D building even if the SGM method is applied to a high-resolution 50cm satellite image. This study proposed and performed the SGM technique with a classified image and an edge image from the IKONOS-2 satellite stereo-image with a 1m resolution to produce DSM. It was compared with the DSMs from the general SGM and the high-density ABM (Area Based Matching) matching of ERDAS software. The results of the apartment DSM by the proposed method were the best in the test area. As a result, despite the image having a resolution of 1m, the outline of the building DSM could be expressed more clearly than the existing method.

  • Nowadays the weapon systems are employed air bursting munition (ABM) as smart programmable 40 mm shells which have been developed in order to hit the target with programmed munition that can be air burst after a set distance in the battlefield. In order to improve the accuracy of such a bursting time, by measuring the speed of the munition from the barrel, weapon systems calculate the exact time of flight to the target and then the time information must be inputted to the munition. In this study, we introduce a device capable of detecting a shot at K4 40 mm automatic grenade. The shot is composed of a rotating copper band to convert linear motion into rotary motion when it passes through the barrel, the steel section is exert the effect of fragment and aluminum section to give fuze information. The aluminum section was used to detect munition using eddy current method. To measure muzzle velocity by means of non-contact method, two eddy current probes separated 10 cm was employed. Time interval between two eddy current probe detection times was used as muzzle velocity. The eddy current probe was fabricated U-shape Mn-Zn ferrite core with enamelled copper wire, and 200 kHz alternating current was used to detect inductance change. Measured muzzle velocity using the developed sensor was compared to the Doppler radar system. The difference was smaller than 1%.

  • Purpose: Various bone graft materials are being used for periodontal tissue regeneration. Th materials are being developed continuously for ideal clinical effects. Therefore, it is necessary to identify the clinical characteristics of each bone graft material through comparing the various bone graft materials statistically and in doing so, proposing a more efficient bone graft material. In this study, the following results were attained through comparing the clinical effects among the bone graft materials, using the statistical method based on the clinical studies published at the department of periodontology of Yonsei hospital. Materials and Method: 6 selected studies of department of Periodontology at Yonsei University Hospital were based on clinical study of bone grafting in intrabony defects. It was compared the clinical parameters among the 6 clinical studies, using the statistical META analysis. Result: When comparing the probing depth reduction, there was a relatively great amount of decease when using the xenograft, Anorganic Bovine Derived Hydroxapatite Bone Matrix/Cell Binding Peptide(ABM/P-15: PepGen $P-15^{(R)}$) and the autogenous bone and absorbable membrane, d, 1-alctide/glycolide copolymer(GC: $Biomesh^{(R)}$). The allogfrafts showed a relatively low decrease in the probing depth and clinical attachment change. It also showed a slight decrease in the bone probing depth. The allografts showed various results according to different bone graft materials. When comparing the ABM/P-15 and bovine bone $powder(BBP^{(R)})$, ABM/P-15 showed a relatively high clinical attachment level and the bovine bone powder showed a relatively high clinical attachment level. The probing depth change and gingival recession change showed a lower value than the mean value between the two bone graft materials. The synthetic bone showed a relatively high decrease in clinical attachment level and periodontal probing depth change. There was a relatively larger amount of gingival recession when using Bioactive Glass(BG) but a relatively low bone regeneration effect was seen. Conclusion: Good restorative results of the periodontal tissue can be attained by applying the various bone graft materials being used today after identifying the accurate clinical effects.

  • We have investigated the numerical methods to calculate model atmosphere for the analysis of spectral lines emitted from the sun and stars. Basic equations used in our calculations are radiative transfer, statistical equilibrium and charge-particle conservations. Transfer equation has been solved to get emitting spectral line profile as an initial value problem using Adams-Bashforth-Moulton method with accuracy as high as 12th order. And we have calculated above non linear differential equations simultaneously as a boundary value problem by finite difference method of 3 points approximation through Feautrier elimination scheme. It is found that all computing programs coded by above numerical methods work successfully for our model atmosphere.

  • The era of Big Data has come and the importance of Big Data has been rapidly growing. The part of transportation, the Four-Step Travel Demand Model(FSTDM), a traditional Trip-Based Model(TBM) reaches its limit. In recent years, a traffic demand forecasting method using the Activity-Based Model(ABM) emerged as a new paradigm. Given that transportation means the spatial movement of people and goods in a certain period of time, transportation could be very closely associated with spatial data. So, I mined Spatial Big Data from SNS. After that, I analyzed the character of these data from SNS and test the reliability of the data through compared with the attributes of TBM. Finally, I built a database from SNS for the operation of ABM and manipulate an ABM simulator, then I consider the result. Through this research, I was successfully able to create a spatial database from SNS and I found possibilities to overcome technical limitations on using Spatial Big Data in the transportation planning process. Moreover, it was an opportunity to seek ways of further research development.

  • Wave propagation in a three-dimensional (3D) fully nonlinear numerical wave tank (NWT) is studied based on velocity potential theory. The governing Laplace equation with fully nonlinear boundary conditions on the moving free surface is solved using the indirect desingularized boundary integral equation method (DBIEM). The fourth-order predictor-corrector Adams-Bashforth-Moulton scheme (ABM4) and mixed Eulerian-Lagrangian (MEL) method are used for the time-stepping integration of the free surface boundary conditions. A smoothing algorithm, B-spline, is applied to eliminate the possible saw-tooth instabilities. The artificial wave speed employed in MTF (multi-transmitting formula) approach is investigated for fully nonlinear wave problem. The numerical results from incorporating the damping zone (DZ), MTF and MTF coupled DZ (MTF+DZ) methods as radiation condition are compared with analytical solution. An effective MTF+DZ method is finally adopted to simulate the 3D linear wave, second-order wave and irregular wave propagation. It is shown that the MTF+DZ method can be used for simulating fully nonlinear wave propagation very efficiently.
