  • Sheets of aluminum alloy 1050 were asymmetrically cold rolled in a rolling mill with different roll speeds. In order to promote the shear deformation during asymmetrical rolling, cold rolling without lubrication was performed. The variation of the shear strain state during asymmetrical rolling was tackled by means of FEM calculations. Asymmetrical rolling gave rise to the development of pronounced residual shear strain gradients throughout the thickness layers.

  • Yttria stabilized zirconia (YSZ) coating was formed on AA1050 Al alloys by aerosol deposition (AD), and its electrochemical corrosion properties were investigated in 3.5 wt% NaCl and 0.5M $H_2SO_4$ solutions. The crack-free, dense, and ~5 ${\mu}m$ thick YSZ coating was successfully obtained by AD. The as-deposited coating was composed of cubic-YSZ nanocrystallites of ~10 nm size. The potentiodynamic test indicated that the YSZ coated Al alloy had much lower corrosion current densities (2 nA/$cm^2$) by comparison to uncoated sample and exhibited a passive behavior in anodic branch. Particularly, a pitting breakdown potential could not be identified in $H_2SO_4$. EIS tests revealed that the impedance of YSZ coated sample was ${\sim}10^6{\Omega}cm^2$ in NaCl and ${\sim}10^7{\Omega}cm^2$ in $H_2SO_4$, which was about 3 or 4 orders of magnitude higher than that of uncoated sample. Consequently, the corrosion resistance of Al alloy had been significantly enhanced by the YSZ coating.

  • The texture evolution during deep drawing of AA1050 sheets was experimentally investigated and the lattice rotation rate was predicted using rate sensitive model with full constraints boundary conditions. The measured textures are dependent on the amount of the flange deformation and the initial crystal orientations. In the specimen parallel to RD the initial crystal orientations and the D component rotated toward the Cu component and the initial crystal orientations along the $\alpha$ fiber rotated toward the G {1 1 0}<0 0 1> and P {1 1 0} <1 1 1> components during deep drawing. In the specimen parallel to $45{\circ}$ with respect to RD the initial crystal orientations around the D component rotated about ND and the initial crystal orientations along the ${\alpha}$ fiber also rotated toward the (1 1 0) [2 3] and (1 1 0)[2 7] components about ND. In the specimen parallel to TD. the initial crystal orientations around the D component rotated toward the rotated cube and the initial crystal orientations along the ${\alpha}$ fiber rotated toward the {1 1 0} <1 1 3> component.

  • 핫엠보싱 기술을 이용하여 고분자 광도파로를 제작하기 위해서는 핫엠보싱 마스터가 필수적이며, 본 연구에서는 deep-RIE 공정에 의해 실리콘 마스터를 제작하였다. 광도파로의 광손실과 직접 연관이 있는 실리콘 마스터의 측면 거칠기를 최소화하기 위해 deep-RIE 공정 수행 후, 온도 $1050^{\circ}C$에서 $H_2/O_2$ 분위기하에 산화층을 각각 400$\AA$, 1000$\AA$, 3000$\AA$, 4500$\AA$, 5600$\AA$ 및 6200$\AA$ 두께로 형성하였으며, 곧바로 $NH_4$F:HF=6:1 BOE를 사용하여 산화층을 제거하였다. 제작된 마스터의 측면 거칠기를 SPM-AFM을 이용하여 측정하였으며, 측면 거칠기가 scallop 부분의 경우, 산화층 형성과 제거 후, 12nm (RMS)에서 최소 약 6nm (RMS)로 개선되었으며, vertical striation부분은 162nm (RMS)에서 최소 39m (RMS)로 개선됨을 확인하였다.

Characterization of Anodized Al 1050 with Electrochemically Deposited Cu, Ni and Cu/Ni and Their Behavior in a Model Corrosive Medium

  • The specific benefits of the modified films formed on preliminary anodized aluminum, including the versatility of their potential applications impose the need for evaluation of the exploitation reliability of these films. In this aspect, the durability of Cu and Ni modified anodized aluminum oxide (AAO) films on the low-doped AA1050 alloy was assessed through extended exposure to a 3.5% NaCl model corrosive medium. The electrochemical measurements by means of electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and potentiodynamic scanning (PDS) after 24 and 720 hours of exposure have revealed that the obtained films do not change their obvious barrier properties. In addition, supplemental analyses of the coatings were performed, in order to elucidate the impact of the AC-deposition of Cu and Ni inside the pores. The scanning electron microscopy (SEM) images have shown that the surface topology is not affected and resembles the typical surface of an etched metal. The subsequent energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX) tests have revealed a predominance of Cu in the combined AAO-Cu/Ni layers, whereas additional X-ray photoelectron (XPS) analyses showed that both metals form oxides with different oxidation states due to alterations in the deposition conditions, promoted by the application of AC-polarization of the samples.

  • The physical and mechanical properties of the sheets metals are closely related to the presence of preferred crystallographic orientations which were produced by the manufacturing process. To obtain the aluminum alloys sheets with good Al sheet formability, the plastic strain ratio (or r-value) of AA1050 Al sheets after asymmetric rolling and subsequent heat treatment was studied. The AA1050 aluminum alloy sheets after asymmetric rolling with high reduction ratio and following heat treatment had the higher plastic strain ratio.

  • Ultra-fine grained and high hardened Al sheet was obtained by Equal channel angular pressing (ECAP). During this process the microstructure, the hardness and the texture of AA 1050 Al alloy sheet are changed by a severe shear deformation. The plastic strain ratio after the ECAP and subsequent heat-treatment condition has been investigated in this study. It was found that the average r-value of the ECAPed and subsequent heat-treated specimen was 1.7 times higher than those of the initial Al sheet. This could be attributed to the various texture formations through the ECAP and subsequent heat-treatment of AA 1050 Aluminum alloy sheet.

Si(001)/NiO(300$\AA$)/NiFe계 휘스톤 브리지형 자기저항소자 (Wheastone-bridge type MR sensors of Si(001)/NiO(300 $\AA$)/NiFe bilayer system)

  • There is great interest in developing magnetoresistance(MR) sensor, using ferromagnetic, electrically non-magnetic conducting and antiferromagnetic films, especially for the use in weak magnetic fields. Here, we report single and Wheatstone-bridge type of MR sensors made in Si(001)/HiO(300$\AA$)/NiFe bilayers. Angular dependence of MR profiles was measured in Si(001)/NiO(300$\AA$)/NiFe(450$\AA$) films as a function of an angle between current and applied field direction, also, linearity was determined. AMR characteristics of single MR sensors was well explained with single domain model. Good linearity in 45$^{\circ}$Wheatstone-bridge type of MR sensors consisting of 4 single MR sensors made in Si(001)/NiO(300$\AA$)/NiFe(450$\AA$) was shown in the range of about $\pm$50 Oe.

알루미늄 1050계 판재에서 결정립 성장 집합조직에 미치는 재결정 집합조직의 영향 (Effect of Primary Recrystallization Texture on the Formation of Grain Growth Texture in Aluminum 1050 Sheet)

  • In order to vary the primary recrystallization textures, AA 1050 sheets were cold rolled in two different manners. Differences in cold rolling schedule gave rise to the formation of different cold rolling textures also leading to the formation of different primary recrystallization textures. Upon annealing for grain growth, changes in microstructure and texture hardly occurred in the sample depicting Cube recrystallization texture, while grain growth was accompanied with the development {001}<100> Cube texture in the sample displaying a recrystallization texture comprising of weak rolling texture components. The selective growth of Cube oriented grains is attributed to the high mobility of their grain boundaries.
