Erector spinae plane block for spinal surgery: a systematic review and meta-analysis

  • Background: Although the erector spinae plane block has been used in various truncal surgical procedures, its clinical benefits in patients undergoing spinal surgery remain controversial. The aim of this meta-analysis was to evaluate the clinical benefits of erector spinae plane block in patients undergoing spinal surgery. Methods: We searched the Cochrane Library, PubMed, EMBASE, and China National Knowledge Infrastructure for randomized controlled trials comparing the erector spinae plane block with a nonblocked control for spinal surgery. Results: Twelve studies encompassing 696 subjects were included in our systematic review and meta-analysis. We found that the erector spinae plane block decreased postoperative pain scores and opioid consumption in the postoperative and intraoperative periods. Moreover, it prolonged the time to the first rescue analgesic, reduced the number of patients who required rescue analgesia, and lowered the incidence of postoperative nausea and vomiting. However, it did not exhibit efficacy in decreasing the incidence of urinary retention and itching or shortening the length of hospital stays, or the time to first ambulation. Conclusions: Erector spinae plane block improves analgesic efficacy among patients undergoing spinal surgery compared with nonblocked controls; however, there is insufficient evidence regarding the benefits of erector spinae plane block for rapid recovery.

가상현실을 통한 융복합 스텝시켄서(Step Squencer) 연구 (A Study on Convergence Step Sequence through Virtual Reality)

  • 최근 다양한 가상현실 콘텐츠들이 폭발적으로 개발되고 있는 상황에서 선행연구에서의 '우연 작동법'을 언급한 바, 본 연구에서는 가상현실에서 스텝시켄서를 구현하고자 한다. 가상현실의 이론적 배경과 사례분석을 통해 VR의 주요경험 가치 3가지, 제약극복가치(Value of Overcoming Constraints), 경험증강가치(Value of Strengthening Experience), 신 경험 창조가치(Value of Creating New Experience)를 제안 하였으며 스텝시켄서의 정체성은 유지하되 사용자가 4가지 영역으로 구분된 음악 콘텐츠들을 보다 쉽고 컨트롤이 편리하도록 임장감과 몰입요소가 가미된 융복합형 스텝시켄서를 개발 제시하였다. 향후 연구를 통해 지속 발전되어 보다 다양한 융복합 VR 콘텐츠가 제작되기를 기대해 본다.

소목(Caesalpinia sappan L.) 추출물의 피부 상재균에 대한 항균 활성 (Antimicrobial activity of Caesalpinia sappan L. extract against skin flora)

  • 소목(Caesalpinia sappan L.) 열수추출물의 피부상재균(Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Cutibacterium acnes, Malassezia furfur)에 대한 항균 활성을 확인하였다. 소목 열수추출물의 수율과 폴리페놀 함량은 각각 14.01±0.81%과 487.5±19.69 ㎍/mg-추출물로 나타났다. 소목 열수추출물의 E. coli, S. aureus, C. acnes 및 M. furfur의 증식에 대한 최소저해농도는 각각 0.875, 1.750, 1.750 및 1.750 mg/mL이었다. 디스크 확산법에서 소목 열수추출물의 처리량에 비례하여 생육저해환이 증가하였다. 소목 열수추출물은 농도에 비례하여 피부상재균의 생육을 억제하였다.

  • The analysis method of the microbiome has been evolving for a very long time, and the industrial field has grown rapidly with the start of human genome analysis 20 years ago. As continuous research continues, related industries have grown together, and among them, Illumina of the US has been leading the popularization of DNA analysis by developing innovative equipment and analysis methods since its establishment in 1998. In this paper, 'AiB Index', 'AiB Chart' using statistical process control and log-scale technique to analyze the gut microbiome analysis methodology and implement an algorithm that can analyze minute changes in the minor strains that can be overlooked in the existing analysis methods. want to implement. From the data analysis point of view, we proposed a platform for analyzing gut microbes that can collect fecal data, match and process gut microbes, and store and visualize the results.

Estimation of the soil liquefaction potential through the Krill Herd algorithm

  • Looking from the past to the present, the earthquakes can be said to be type of disaster with most casualties among natural disasters. Soil liquefaction, which occurs under repeated loads such as earthquakes, plays a major role in these casualties. In this study, analytical equation models were developed to predict the probability of occurrence of soil liquefaction. In this context, the parameters effective in liquefaction were determined out of 170 data sets taken from the real field conditions of past earthquakes, using WEKA decision tree. Linear, Exponential, Power and Quadratic models have been developed based on the identified earthquake and ground parameters using Krill Herd algorithm. The Exponential model, among the models including the magnitude of the earthquake, fine grain ratio, effective stress, standard penetration test impact number and maximum ground acceleration parameters, gave the most successful results in predicting the fields with and without the occurrence of liquefaction. This proposed model enables the researchers to predict the liquefaction potential of the soil in advance according to different earthquake scenarios. In this context, measures can be realized in regions with the high potential of liquefaction and these measures can significantly reduce the casualties in the event of a new earthquake.

공영우편업 물류센터 종사자의 안전보건의식에 대한 연구 (A Study on the Korea Post Workers' Safety and Health Consciousness)

  • 우정사업본부는 국민들에게 우편, 예금, 보험 등 양질의 우정서비스를 제공하는 공적 역할을 수행하고 있다. 비록, 산업의 발전으로 우편기계가 자동화 되고 있지만 우편 소통 과정에서 종사자는 교통사고, 끼임사고, 근골격계질환 등 각종 산업재해에 노출되어 있어 중대재해를 예방하기 위한 산업안전보건 활동이 필요한 상황이다. 본 연구에서는 우정사업본부 소속 공영우편업 물류센터에 근무하는 종사자를 대상으로 안전보건 의식 수준을 분석하였다. 분석 결과 안전보건 의식 향상을 위해 규정 및 절차, 조직 구성, 안전보건교육 방법 개선 등 중점 추진하여야 할 과제를 5가지 항목으로 구분하여 제언하였고, 효율적인 산업재해 예방을 위한 제도 수립에 기초할 자료를 제시하였다.

열적, 화학적 강화에 의해 잔류응력이 형성된 유약층을 가진 도자기의 기계적 물성 (Mechanical Properties of Porcelain with Thermally and Chemically Induced Residual Stress on Glaze)

  • In this study, we measured the thermally and chemically induced residual stresses on glaze using the photoelastic method. Porcelain with thermally induced residual stress showed compressive stress of 49 MPa for thermal expansion mismatch and a locally fluctuated stress field over the glaze layer due to compensation of compressive stresses around pores. In the case of chemically strengthened porcelain, the compressive stress on the glaze was 151 MPa which was around 3 times higher than the stress on thermally strengthened glaze. The trend of fracture strength of thermally and chemically strengthened porcelains was coincident with that of the residual stress of porcelains.

Effect of Long Term Fertilization on Microbial Biomass, Enzyme Activities, and Community Structure in Rice Paddy Soil

  • The effects of long-term fertilization on soil biological properties and microbial community structure in the plough layer in a rice paddy soil in southern Korea were investigated in relation to the continuous application of chemical fertilizers (NPK), straw based compost (Compost), combination these two (NPK + Compost) for last 40 years. No fertilization plot (Control) was installed for comparison. Though fertilization significantly improved rice productivity over control, the long-term fertilization of NPK and compost combination was more effective on increasing rice productivity and soil nutrient status than single application of compost or chemical fertilizer. All fertilization treatments had shown significant improvement in soil microbial properties, however, continuous compost fertilization markedly increased soil enzyme and microbial activities as compared to sole chemical fertilization. Results of microbial community structure, evaluated by EL-FAME (ester-linked fatty acid methyl esters) method, revealed big difference among Control, NPK, and Compost. However, both Compost and Compost+NPK treatments belonged to the same cluster after statistical analysis. The combined application of chemical fertilizer and organic amendments could be more rational strategy to improve soil nutrient status and promote soil microbial communities than the single chemical fertilizer or compost application.

웹 기반 기초학력 진단-보정 시스템의 개선 방안 도출 (A study on Improvement of Web-based Diagnosis-Supplement System for Basic Academic Skills)

  • 교육부는 2013년부터 초등학교와 중학교를 대상으로 웹 기반의 기초학력 진단-보정 시스템을 전국에 서비스하고 있다. 이 논문의 목적은 2015년에 실시된 기초학력 진단-보정 시스템 기반의 향상도 검사 결과와 교사 및 전문가들의 요구사항을 종합적으로 분석하여 시스템의 개선 방안을 도출하는 것이다. 이를 위해 진단-보정 차수별 응시율과 도달율을 분석하고, 교사 자문위원회와 전문가 협의회의 인터뷰 및 협의 내용을 기초로 기초학력 진단-보정 시스템의 개선방안을 도출하였다. 결론적으로 기초학력 진단-보정 시스템의 발전 방안을 교사 이용 활성화 방안과 학생 이용 활성화 관점으로 구체화여 제언하였다.

환경온 변화에 따른 비만 아동의 체온조절 행동 (Thermoregulatory Behaviors of Obese Children According to Temperature Change)

  • This study investigates thermoregulatory behaviors of obese children for their thermal comfort. Nine normal-weight children (NWC) and nine obese children (OC) participated in the study. All subjects were fourth-graders and sixth-graders in elementary school. An informed consent form was obtained from each child and his or her mother. The questionnaire method was used, and the experiment was conducted to determine the preferred amount of clothing at $17^{\circ}C$ and the preferred temperature at $33^{\circ}C$. According to the results, OC were more susceptible to heat than NWC, whereas there was no significant difference in their susceptibility to cold. There were no significant differences of the oral temperature and the mean skin temperature between the two groups, but changes in forearm blood flow were less in OC than in NWC. There was no significant difference in the preferred amount of clothing between OC and NWC, and the preferred temperature was higher in NWC than in OC. The results based on the questionnaire are consistent with those based on the experiment. A compositive study of physical exercise, eating behavior, and wearing behavior should be useful for developing programs for preventing and treating obese children.
