  • Designing of the squirrel cage AC Traction Motor has many difficulties which has to be small shape in order to be suitable into bogie frame, high efficiency and light weight. It means that induction motor for tractive efforts has to be different magnetic and electric loading ratio from industrial induction motor. This paper is devoted to an examination of how this ratio affects overall design concept and. hence the main design points for traction motor. Also studied is the changed coefficients of the magnetic and electric loading ratio squirrel cage induction motor for the traction purpose, which has been already identified from the referance book for industrial purpose induction motor.

  • A 1MW class HTS(High-Temperature Superconducting) synchronous motor has been developed. This motor was aimed to be utilized for industrial application such as large motors operating in large plants. The HTS field windings of the developed motor is cooled by way of Neon thermosiphon mechanism and the stator coil is cooled by water through hollow copper conductor. This paper describes performance test results of our motor, which was conducted at steady state in generator mode and motor mode.

  • With the recent emphasis on the importance of energy conservation, studies on high-efficiency elevator systems are being continuously conducted. Therefore, pulse width modulation converters are commonly used in traction drives on elevator systems. Wide bandgap devices have been increasingly commercialized, and their application to power conversion systems, such as renewable and energy storage system, has been gradually increasing. In this study, a SiC inverter for an elevator traction drive is investigated. In particular, an inverter is designed to minimize stray and parasitic inductance. Input and output filters are designed by considering switching frequency. The designed SiC inverter reduces volume by approximately 32% compared with that of a Si inverter, and power converter efficiency is over 98.8%.

  • Kinesin-II, a molecular motor, consists of two different motor subunits, KIF3A and KIF3B, and one large kinesin superfamily-associated protein 3 (KAP3), forming a heterotrimeric complex. KAP3 is associated with the tail domains of motor subunits. However, its exact role remains unclear. Here, we demonstrated KAP3 binding to the carboxyl (C)-terminal tail region of HS-associated protein X-1 (HAX-1). HAX-1 bound to the C-terminal region of KAP3, but not to KIFs (KIF3A, KIF3B, and KIF5B) and the kinesin light chain (KLC) in the yeast two-hybrid assays. The interaction was further confirmed in the glutathione S-transferase (GST) pull-down assay and by co-immunoprecipitation. Anti- HAX-1 antibody as well as anti-KIF3A antibody co-immunoprecipitated KIF3B and KAP3 from mouse brain extracts. These results suggest that KAP3 could mediate the interaction between Kinesin-II and HAX-1.

  • Temperate-resident bats exhibit a circadian cycle of torpor and arousal In summer. The physiological role and selective advantage of torpor as an energy saving mechanism have been received much attention by hibernation biologists. However, despite the significance of the recovering euthermic function, the arousal process and mechanism in these animals have been poorly addressed. In this study, we investigated thermogenic and motor activities of a local bat species Murina leucogaster during arousal by simultaneously examining oxygen consumption rate, body temperature ($T_b$) and pectoral electromyography (EMG). We found that Tb of the torpid bats (12-14$^{\circ}C$) was augmented slowly by nonshivering mechanism during the initial awakening phase. The pectoral shivering, gauged by EMG activity, occurred between 17$^{\circ}C$ and 38$^{\circ}C$. Over this Tb range of shivering, heat was produced at a rate of 0.145 kcal $kg^{-1}\;min^{-1}$ to raise 1$^{\circ}C$ $T_b$ per min. Shivering was most intensive at 30-35$^{\circ}C$ where both EMG amplitude and spike frequency were the highest. Activation of the pectoral myofibers seemed to be controlled in a manner that motor units were recruited from smaller to larger sizes, with greater synchronization, as muscle shivering became intensive with increasing $T_b$.

  • In this paper, PWM control is applied to the microprcessor-based adjustable speed dc motor drives. The motor drive system is composed of phase locked loop. Main drive circuit of the system is consisted of H-type bridge with switching transistors. PWM drive circuit is linearized by adding flywheeling diodes. And also. We study the optimum PWM data and period time so that it hase a nearly liner relationship between current and torque.

  • ADD has developed a special BLDCM(brushless d.c. motor) that has small size and high power density. The model of BLDCM is like that of advanced nation. Design, production and test carried out by ADD and HYOSUNG Corp.. We simulated back EMF of phase, inductance of line and eddy current loss of rotor after we tested the motor at 80 Kw. According to analysis we have established the performance of 100Kw power recently. There are the same results that we designed.

  • In case while modulation index (M) is more than 0.7, the spectrum of motor voltage and current of a conventional two-phase SRP scheme are not reduced considerably. To solve the problems of a conventional two-phase SRP, this paper proposes a two-phase SRP(DZSRP) with double zero vector mode which zero vector is selected as V(111) in case of M $\geq$ 0.7, and zero vector is selected as V(000) if M < 0.7. For the validity of the proposed method, a 16 bit micro-controller C167 was used and the experiments were conducted with the 1.5kw induction motor under load condition. And the experimental results show that the switching noise spectrum for all the M are spread to a wide band area. Also the switching noise and conducted noise are discussed.

  • In this paper the phase advance method is adopted for torque characteristics improvement of brushless D.C motor and the effect on motor characteristics is investigated. The optimal commutation position is calculated by computer simulation. This paper also implements a driver for brushless D.C motors using single-chip microprocessor, 8751.

  • A new control method for position control of D.C. servo motor based on the variable structure control is presented. The desired trajectory satisfying the given performance requirement is used as the sliding curve. And the control input forcing the system to follow the desired model system is applied. As a result the method is robust to disturbance. The performance of the proposed controller is compared with that of the conventional state feedback controller through digital computer simulation.
