A Study on Voice User Interface for Domestic Appliance (가전제품의 VUI 가이드라인에 대한 연구)

  • 음성 사용자 인터페이스(Voice User Interface, 이하 VUI) 는 음성을 매개로 일어나는 인간과 기계 간 인터페이스를 뜻한다. 음성 인식율의 향상과 음성 재생 장치의 발달에 힘입어 최근 들어 휴대폰과 카 네비게이션 시스템에 주로 적용되고 있다. 최근 이러한 경향은 A/V 시스템 등 가전제품(Domestic Appliance) 에도 확대되고 있는데 본 연구에서는 사용자와 필수적이고 빈번한 상호작용이 일어나는 백색 가전을 대상으로 사용자를 만족시키는 음성 인터페이스의 주요 속성 중 음성 생성(Speech Generation)과 관련된 음성 표현을 중점 연구하였다. 연구방법으로 먼저 주부들이 느끼는 가전에서의 문제점과 VUI 로서 해결가능성에 대하여 F.G.I. 를 통하여 조사하여 주요 이슈를 도출하고, 대표적 백색 가전인 에어컨, 세탁기, 김치냉장고, 냉장고, 식기세척기, 오븐레인지 등 6개 제품에 대하여 음성의 물리적 특성, 내용적 특성, 기능에 따른 배치에 대하여 조건에 따라 다양한 프로토타입을 제작한 후 실제 환경과 유사한 실험실 상황에서 사용자의 선호도, 적합도 및 수행을 측정하였다. 연구 결과 각 이슈에 따라 가전제품에 적합한 VUI 가이드라인 특성을 찾아내었다.

Efficient Switch Mode Power Supply Design with Minimum Components for 5W Output Power

  • This paper presents a flyback technology in power conversion aimed at increasing efficiency and power density, reducing cost and using minimum components in AC-DC conversion. The proposed converter provides these features for square waveforms and constant frequency PWM. It is designed to operate in a wide input voltage range of 75-265VAC RMS with two output voltages of 5V and 20V respectively and full load output power of 5W. The proposed converter is suitable for high efficiency and high power density application such as LCDs, TV power modules, AC adapters, motor control, appliance control, telecom and networking products.

Study of the Usability Factors of Remote Controllers for Multifunction A/V Appliances (다기능 A/V제품 리모컨의 사용성 결정 인자에 관한 연구)

  • In order to develop a more useful and ergonomically attractive remote controller, I peformed experiments with various subjects to define factors that may obstruct the usability of remote controllers for multifunction A/V appliances. I also performed the experiments to evaluate other factors that were created to improve the usability of them, and showed that remote controllers with the improved factors are more efficient and more attractive to use. I analyzed about 40 types of remote controllers for various A/V appliances to understand impediment factors of usability. By this analysis I found the factors that affected the usability of them, and developed three types of improved remote controllers for the next version of $Play@TV^{TM}$ also set the subjects with the task of usability tests with an existing remote controller and the three newly chosen remote controllers, and those results were analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively. The results showed that the 'B type' remote controller took less time to perform the same tasks by 9.2% than the existing remote controller. I concluded that the usability factors of remote controllers - function receptivity, presentation of a tactile clue, reasonable size and weight, how to arrange the main buttons, grouping of related functions - will be useful and effective to improve the usability of A/V appliances.

The Characteristics on the Change of Cerebral Cortex using Alternating Current Power Application for Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation

  • A transcranial magnetic stimulation device is a complicated appliance that employs a switching power device designed for discharging and charging a capacitor to more than 1 kV. For a simple transcranial magnetic stimulation device, this study used commercial power and controlled the firing angle using a Triac power device. AC 220V 60 Hz, the power device was used directly on the tanscranial magnetic stimulation device. The power supply device does not require a current limiting resistance in the rectifying device, energy storage capacitor or discharge circuit. To control the output power of the tanscranial magnetic stimulation device, the pulse repetition rate was regulated at 60 Hz. The change trigger of the Triac gate could be varied from $45^{\circ}$ to $135^{\circ}$. The AVR 182 (Zero Cross Detector) Chip and AVR one chip microprocessor could control the gate signal of the Triac precisely. The stimulation frequency of 50 Hz could be implemented when the initial charging voltage Vi was 1,000 V. The amplitude, pulse duration, frequency stimulation, train duration and power consumption was 0.1-2.2T, $250{\sim}300{\mu}s$, 0.1-60 Hz, 1-100 Sec and < 1 kW, respectively. Based on the results of this study, TMS can be an effective method of treating dysfunction and improving function of brain cells in brain damage caused by ischemia.

Comparison of slim bristled and V-shaped orthodontic toothbrushes in patients with fixed orthodontic appliances (고정식 교정장치 장착환자에서 슬림모 칫솔과 V형 교정칫솔 간의 구강위생관리 효과 비교)

  • Objective: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of a slim bristled toothbrush compared with a V-shaped orthodontic toothbrush in patients with fixed orthodontic appliances. Methods: Thirty four orthodontic patients receiving edgewise treatment were randomly assigned to two groups, a slim bristled toothbrush (Nano silver slim care) and a V-shaped toothbrush (Oral-B). Plaque index, gingival index and bleeding index were recorded at the beginning of the study (baseline), 2 weeks, 4 weeks and 6 weeks after new toothbrushes were supplied and the results were analyzed statistically. Results: No statistically significant differences were found for plaque index, gingival index and bleeding index between toothbrush groups during the 6 weeks. Plaque and gingival indices were decreased at 2 weeks and 4 weeks but increased at 6 weeks in both toothbrush groups. Bleeding index in the V-shaped toothbrush group showed the lowest value at 2 weeks then increased at 4 weeks and 6 weeks but in the slim bristled toothbrush group decreased from 2 weeks through 6 weeks to under baseline levels. Patients in their twenties had significantly lower values than teenagers in the slim bristled toothbrush group (p < 0.013). Conclusions: The results would suggest that both of the toothbrushes are equally effective but the use of a slim bristled toothbrush may be of benefit in promoting gingival health for fixed orthodontic appliance patients in their twenties and over.

Three dimensional analysis of tooth movement using different types of maxillary molar distalization appliances (간접골성 고정원을 이용한 상악 구치부 원심이동 장치 종류에 따른 치아 이동 양상 평가)

  • Objective: The purpose of this study was to compare the three dimensional changes of tooth movement using four different types of maxillary molar distalization appliances; pendulum appliance (PD), mini-implant supported pendulum appliance (MPD), stainless steel open coil spring (SP) and mini-implant supported stainless steel open coil spring (MSP). Methods: These experiments were performed using the Calorific $machine^{(R)}$ which can simulate dynamic tooth movement. Computed tomography (CT) images of the experimental model were taken before and after tooth movement in 1 mm thicknesses and reconstructed into a three dimensional model using V-works $4.0^{TM}$. These reconstructed images were superimposed using Rapidform $2004^{TM}$ and the direction and amount of tooth movement were measured. Results: The mean reciprocal anchor loss ratio at the first premolar was 17 - 19% for the PD and SP groups. The appliances using mini-implants (MPD or MSP) resulted in less anchorage loss (7 - 8%). On application of a pendulum appliance or MPD, distalization was obtained by tipping rather than by bodily movement. Furthermore, the maxillary second molar tipped distally and bucally. But on application of MSP, distalization was achieved almost by bodily movement. Conclusions: Regarding tooth movement patterns during molar distalization, stainless steel open coil spring with indirect skeletal anchorage was relatively superior to other methods.

Experimental Study on Fracture Protect Effect in Mouthguards (수종의 마우스가드에 대한 파절방지효과 비교)

  • In recent year, the population for sports has been increased and lots of wounded patients at the oral & facial portion were troubled with the accidents. So, it was needed to protect them from the sports accident, by the use of the mouthguard appliance. This study was done as ae guide for selection of the mouthguard materials. Such mouthguards classified as E.V.A., PE, silicone as material, Scheu(Germany), Tru-Tain(U.S.A.), Dreve(Germany) as companies, 1.5mm, 3.0mm, and 4.0mm as thickness and single sheet, soft double sheet, hard double sheet methods were selected for experiment to compare the fracture protect test. The obtained results are as follows. 1. All types of mouthguards, whatever differences there are in material, production company, procedure and the thickness, were effective for fracture protect effect. 2. The most effective one for fracture protection was recommended as E.V.A. in material, and Tru-Tain in company. 3. More thick, and soft & hard multi sheets productions were more effective for fracture protection.

  • In this paper, The infrastructure case for reproduction or analysis of the mechanism on the fire or the electrics shock of the electrical appliances is proposed. The various electrical appliances(Washing machine, Ballast, Electric heaters, Electronic switches, Mobile phone chargers) used in the home can be tested on the high voltage and over current test through the implementation of the infrastructure. The electrical tests of fire and electric shock consists of the high voltage of maximum 5000 V and over current test of 3 steps(90 A, 60 A, 40 A) and noise test. The mechanism of the fire and the electric shock tests reproduced are analyzed through the monitoring system and the oscilloscope. The electronics manufacturers can prevent accidents through the tests of the electronics factor reproduced and the analysis of the infrastructure designed.

Design of Synchronous 256-bit OTP Memory (동기식 256-bit OTP 메모리 설계)

  • In this paper is designed a 256-bit synchronous OTP(one-time programmable) memory required in application fields such as automobile appliance power ICs, display ICs, and CMOS image sensors. A 256-bit synchronous memory cell consists of NMOS capacitor as antifuse and access transistor without a high-voltage blocking transistor. A gate bias voltage circuit for the additional blocking transistor is removed since logic supply voltage VDD(=1.5V) and external program voltage VPPE(=5.5V) are used instead of conventional three supply voltages. And loading current of cell to be programmed increases according to RON(on resistance) of the antifuse and process variation in case of the voltage driving without current constraint in programming. Therefore, there is a problem that program voltage can be increased relatively due to resistive voltage drop on supply voltage VPP. And so loading current can be made to flow constantly by using the current driving method instead of the voltage driving counterpart in programming. Therefore, program voltage VPP can be lowered from 5.9V to 5.5V when measurement is done on the manufactured wafer. And the sens amplifier circuit is simplified by using the sens amplifier of clocked inverter type instead of the conventional current sent amplifier. The synchronous OTP of 256 bits is designed with Magnachip $0.13{\mu}m$ CMOS process. The layout area if $298.4{\times}314{\mu}m2$.

A Study on the Reliability Assessment about Switching Failure Cause of Appliance (가전제품의 스위칭 고장 원인에 대한 신뢰성 평가)

  • 본 논 연구에서는 가전제품 중에서 야간 절전 버튼의 작동 불량 원인을 규명하여 제품의 성능 및 신뢰성 향상을 위한 객관적 근거를 제시하였다. 시판된 제품을 수거하여 불량품 검사(전기적 특성 및 decap)를 실시한 결과 절전 버튼 IC pin No.2의 단락(short)에 의한 오작동 요소를 밝힐 수 있었다. 동일한 사양의 재현실험에서 EOS(전기적 과도전압에 의한 스트레스)보다 정전기 방전에 스트레스에 의해서 소손되는 특성을 나타내는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 오작동 요소로 확인된 IC pin 2번에 바리스터(Varistor)를 부착하고 11kV를 인가하여 시험한 결과 오작동 요소를 제거할 수 있었다.
