A Controller Design of a Magnetic Levitation System (자기부상 시스템의 제어기 설계)

  • A mathematical modeling for a magnetic levitation system is proposed using the Taylor series expansion of differential function for obtaining linearity. It is confirmed that this kind of linear approximation method can be used to the modeling of a magnetic levitation system. The two-degree-of-freedom optimal servo system for a constant reference signal is proposed using the LQ optimization technique. An additional state feedback is introduced at the output of the integrator to cancel the integral action for reference signal if there is no modeling error of the plant and no disturbance input to the plant. When the modeling error or the disturbance input exists, the integral effect appears. The system has a free parameter which can b used to tune the effect of the integral compensation.

  • The Two-Mass Spring(TMS or Two-Inertia Resonance) system is one of the simplest models which generate a torsional vibration. In this system, it is required to design a controller achieving the control performance while suppressing the torsional vibration. In this paper, we compared and considered with the state feedback effects for the TMS system. By connecting each controller design to the state feedback control, we could predict each controller performances and decide weighting functions and parameters of LQ and $H_\infty$ controller.

  • The container crane is one of the most important equipments at container terminal. If its working time in cycle could be reduced then container terminal efficiency and service level can be increased. So there are many i1forts to reduce working time of container cranes. It means how to design the controller with good performance which has small overshoot and swing motion of container crane. We, in this paper, present a state feedback controller based on LQ theory incorporating a RCGA which means real-coded genetic algorithm RCGA can search state feedback gains under given objective function. A set of simulation works are carried out in order to prove the control effectiveness of the proposed methods.

Relation between Milk Consumption and Bone Mineral Density of Female College Students in Korea (여대생의 우유와 유제품 섭취실태 및 골밀도와의 관계 연구)

  • The purpose of our study was to evaluate an association between milk consumption and bone mineral density (BMD) of female college students in Korea. The dietary data of 1,410 Korean college students living in the vicinity of Seoul area were collected through the Food Frequency Questionnaire. The mean age, height, weight and 8MI of the subjects were 20.4 years, 162.1 cm, 52.7 kg, and $20.0\;kg/m^2$ respectively. The mean intakes of energy, protein, and phosphorus were 2,398.7 kcal, 95.2 g, and 1,302.9 mg respectively, which were above their EER or Recommended Intake (RI), but the mean intake of calcium was 657.8 mg which was below its RI, and 44.0% of the subjects did not meet Estimated Average Requirement (EAR) of calcium. The daily milk consumption was 131.1 g, and the total consumption of milk and dairy product was 228.7 g. Forty five percent of the subjects consumed $50{\sim}200\;g$ of milk or dairy products. After the analysis of their dietary intakes, the subjects were divided into quintiles of total consumption of milk and dairy product, which were considered as major source of dietary calcium. Ninety two subjects from the upper quintile (UQ) and 85 subjects from the lower quintile (LQ) were selected and their bone mineral densities (BMD) of lumbar spine (L1-L4) and the femur were examined by the dual energy X-ray absorptiometry. The BMD $(g/cm^2)$of L1, L2, L3, and average of femur were 1.065, 1.150, 1.187, and 0.988 for the UQ subjects, which were significantly higher than those of the LQ subjects, 1.010, 1.090, 1.146, and 0.942 respectively. Moreover, the T-scores of the UQ were significantly higher than those of the LQ. The prevalence rates of osteopenia classified according to WHO's criterion were 12.0% in the UQ. and 20.0% in the LQ group which showed non significant. Blood levels of calcium, and phosphorus of UQ and LQ group were both within the normal range, and were not significantly different. Our results showed that UQ group presented the better status of bone mineral density and bone health. Therfore our results suggest that continuous consumption of more than one and a half cups of milk per day, which corresponds to the least amount of UQ group's consumption, would affect positively on the bone health of Korean adults.

  • It is known that an aircraft with delta-wings which are attached to the body at a large angle like a kite or a hang glider has a measure of maneuverability and stability. Aircrafts of this kind can fly stably. Even if engine trouble occurs, it will not fall and might be able to land. In this paper, one of the conventional control methods, PID control, is applied to the aircraft with LQ local control block. This is based on an idea that the aircraft flies so stably that the automatic control system might be realized by a simple controller. The proposed PID controller consists of several sub-controllers which are constructed to each system neglecting the interference. In addition, the LQ control is involved as a local loop of the aileron and rudder control in order to increase stability of the attitude when circling. The effectiveness of the proposed method is shown through 3D computer simulations and experiments of the flight path control.

  • As a regional development gap between Southwest and Southeast of Jeonnam Province are becoming more serious, it is highly time to come up with measures for the balanced development of the two areas. This paper suggests construction of the Airport and Port Supporting Complex in apparent efforts to reduce the gap between the two areas and facilitate the Southwest economy. The Supporting Complex aims to constitute a triangle industrial cluster which is classified into the following three categories; 1. Traditional competitive industries 2. New growth engine industries 3. Attraction of companies u-turning from abroad such as China etc. To provide one-stop service through set-up of R&D Business Center is the heart of this triangle core. This paper had LQ and Shift&Share Analysis in an attempt to search for competitive industries among the traditional industries in Mokpo-si(city) and Muan-gun(county) of Jeonnam Province. As a result of the analysis, metal manufacturing industry and metal-working process products industry have been found competitive in the two areas. Among the new growth engine industries, this paper suggests precision instruments industry and advanced parts industry for utmost strengths of airport and port while u-turning industries from abroad include higher value-added textile industry and fashion industry. It is expected that all of above-mentioned industries for the triangle industrial cluster will contribute to laying the groundwork to develop regional economy further and create more jobs in the Southwest area of Jeonnam Province.

The Momentum Strategy of Small Foreign Investors in the Indonesia Stock Exchange

  • This research aimed to analyze the momentum strategy of foreign investors with the smallest trading transactions in the Indonesian stock market. This study applied a quantitative method approach using intraday transaction data of companies listed on the LQ-45 Index for March, April, and May 2017, obtained from the Indonesia Capital Market Institute (TICMI) which is a subsidiary of the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX). The number of companies with available data is 35 companies, consisting of 23 non-government stocks and 12 government stocks. The number of observations from the 35 companies was 8,686,030 observations where the government companies recorded 2,751, 545 and the non-government companies 1,387,016 observations. All data was then squeezed and grouped into small, medium, and large trade transaction orders. The data analysis method used was paired t-test with SPSS to analyze cumulative abnormal returns in the formulation and test periods. This study found that small foreign investors carried out momentum strategies on stocks listed on the LQ-45 Index. However, re-testing was done by separating government and non-government shares. It turned out that small foreign investors performed a momentum strategy on non-government and a contrarian strategy on government.

  • This paper presents a linear state feedback control approach to the stabilization of discrete-time uncertain systems with bounded uncertain parameters. The approach is based on the LQ(linear quadratic) regulator theory and Lyapunov's stability analysis. Asymptotically stable behavior is guaranteed in the presence of parameter uncertainties, and the upper bound of the performance index is determined.

Exploring Residential Segregation through Spatial Concentration Index - as a case of Seoul Metropolitan Area - (집중지표 기법을 활용한 수도권 주거지 분리에 대한 실증적 접근)

  • In order to solve the problem of how to estimate the residential segregation, the Spatial Concentration Index(SCI) and Location quotient(LQ) are able to be one of alternative methods, and a comprehensive analysis of the residential segregation phenomenon in the seoul metropolitan area is the aim of the study. The results of SCI show that residential concentration areas in low-rent are some Gyeonggi-do's downtown(Bucheon-si, Suwon-si) as well as rural and urban-rural complex outskirts of the metropolitan area. The results of changing of SCI from 2011 to 2014, downward changes appeared thirteen districts and upward changes appeared fourteen districts. Especially downward change district was Sosa-gu, Bucheon-si and upward change district was Yeongtong-gu, Suwon-si. In conclusion, that high rent level groups are more concentration on specific area than low rent level groups. By decreasing residential concentration districts in low-rent level group, 'diversity' districts have been increasing in seoul metropolitan but the phenomenon of residential concentration in high and low level group have been being intensified. These results could be confirmed by quantitative through LQ. Methodologically LQ would strengthen the explanatory power of SCI, and ongoing research of SCI in conjunction with other quantitative methods will need.

Optimal Output Feedback Control Simulation for the Operation of Space Shuttle Main Engine (우주왕복선 액체로켓엔진 작동의 최적출력제어 시뮬레이션)

  • This paper deals with an optimal output control for Space Shuttle Main Engine (SSME), a liquid propellant rocket engine using a staged-combustion cycle. For this purpose, we modeled simplified mathematical model of SSME using each SSME component divided into 7 major categories and found trim points called Rated Propulsion Level (RPL). For design the closed-loop system of SSME, we designed optimal output feedback Linear Quadratic Regulation (LQR) control system using SSME linearized model under RPL 104% and demonstrated the performance of the controller through numerical simulation.
