Nowadays JPEG encoder uses block based DCT and quantization to compress the size of still image. JPEG encoding method performs better compression efficiency than the other still image encoding method. However, when encoding a still image at low bit-rate, high frequency coefficients could be lost because of the coarse quantization so the blocking artifacts occur. In this paper, we propose the method of eliminating the blocking artifacts which occur when the still image is encoded by JPEG at a high compression rate. The principle of proposed algorithm is that the eliminating the blocking artifacts, which occur in the boundary of blocks, in DCT domain with $4{\times}4$ block-based method. First of all, observe the blocking artifacts with $4{\times}4$ block in DCT domain. Then eliminate the blocking effects using effective filtering method that is $4{\times}4$ block-based. Experimental results have clearly shown that our algorithm presents substantially higher quality in subjective and objective point of view than the other algorithms.

In this paper, the reverse-link performance of synchronous DS-CDMA cellular networks is investigated in Rician multipath fading environments. The system's performance is evaluated in terms of the achievable average bit error rate BER) and the user capacities of two different network layouts, namely those of a uniform grid of hexagonal multiple cells and a single isolated cell. In the multiple-cell scenario, the impact of the other cells' interference on the attainable capacity of the synchronous DS-CDMA uplink is investigated. Upon comparing both networks to a conventional asynchronous CDMA system, we demonstrate an achievable user capacity gain of $25\%$ to $56\%$ for synchronous uplink transmissions over that of the corresponding asynchronous transmission scenario at BER = $10^{-3}$.

ISI is caused by delay spread in the multipath channel environment. There are two kinds of channel equalizer: Linear and Non-Linear type according to the structures. In this paper, we propose an improved adaptive linear equalizer to mitigate ISI. The proposed adaptive equalizer is constructed by using asymmetrical Dsmvenu filter based on USE sub-optimal receiver. Asymmetrical structure of the transversal filter is realized by moving the main tap position from center to side. If this structure is used, we can divide ISI to precusor and postcusor. As a result the proposed equalizer has a larger extended compensation range than conventional adaptive linear equalizer. In computer simulation, we compare the bit error rate performance of the proposed linear equalizer with the conventional one on the S-V channel which is modeled for WB systems.

In this paper, we present the implementation and performance analysis of H.324M mobile multimedia terminal which s under standardization. The H.324M is the mobile extension of H.324 which is the standard for low bit rate multimedia terminals operating over GSTN. For H.324M, the multiplexing protocol (H.223) of H.324 is enhanced to protect data from the transmission errors over mobile channels. The multiplexing protocol of H.324M is classified into Levels 0, 1, 2, and 3 depending on the level of error protection. Each Level is analyzed according to different types of the data loss elements. Simulation results show that the loss caused by the corrupted flag and header produces the most serious performance degradation. Levels 1 and 2 which protect the header and flag are effective in reducing the total loss. Furthermore, the optimal flag length and threshold value for Levels 1 and 2 are determined.

Ethernet has been given a greater attention recently due to tendency of unifying most of transmission technique to ethernet. This paper studied the design of MAC which contains high layer interface, transmit engine, flow control block, receive engine, reconciliation sublayer, configuration block, statistics block, and XGMll interface block. Performance evaluation was performed using C language for 10cbps ethernet Data Link to design the optimum hardware, then internal FIFO and initial parameters were evaluated. When offered load is $95\%$, the size of the internal FIFO is required 512-word. When offered load is $97\%$, the size of the internal FIFO is required 1024-word. Based on the result of performance evaluation, MAC was designed in VHDL Language and verified using simulator. MAC core that processes 64-bit data, operates at 168.549MHz and hence supports the maximum 10.78Gbps. The designed MAC core is applicable to an area that needs a high-speed data processing of 10Gbps or more.

Generating fast round key in AES Rijndael algorithm using three key sizes, such as 128, 192, and 256-bit keys is a critical factor to develop high throughput AES processors. In this paper, we propose on-the-fly round key generator which is applicable to the pipelined and non-pipelined AES processor in which cipher and decipher nodes must be implemented on a chip. The proposed round key generator has modular and area-and-time efficient structure implemented with simple connection of two key expander modules, such as key_exp_m and key_exp_s module. The round key generator for non-pipelined AES processor with support of three key lengths and cipher/decipher modes has about 7.8-ns delay time under 0.25um 2.5V CMOS standard cell library and consists of about 17,700 gates.

IEEE802.15.3 and IEEE802.15.4 have defined the hybrid MAC protocols based on TDMA and CSMA where a multi-frame TDMA structure is employed so that multiple data frames can be transmitted within one timeslot to guarantee minimum delay bounds of isochroous traffic. However, TDMA has an intrinsic problem that cannot dynamically allocate optimal length of timeslot to each station. Therefore the idle timeslot can be produced by stations when each transmission queue is instantaneously empty during its timeslot, which would waste lots of timeslots especially in the multi-frame TDMA systems. In this paper, we propose a more flexible multiple-access scheme for the multi-frame TDMA system based on the concept of virtual slot which is accessible by every station with the highest priority for slot owner and lower priority for other stations. Finally, our simulation results from various environments show that proposed scheme can achieve magnitude improvement of total system throughput and average message delay by maximizing channel utilization.

Broadband code division multiple access(B-CDMA)previously proposed for personal communication services(PCS) is not suitable for high-speed data services with large variations in speed, because it is designed only for low-speed voice calls with small variations in speed. Meanwhile, hybrid intra-cell TDMA/inter-cell CDMA(Hybrid TDMA/CDMA) recently proposed could accomodate high-speed services easily because of its internal use of the TDMA scheme, but there would be much inefficiency in treating variable bit rate services due to the intrinsic properties of TDMA transmission scheme, In this paper, a media access control(MAC) protocol, called Resevation TDMA/CDMA, which uses a reservation scheme similar to the one in the packet reservation multiple access(PRMA) protocol to compensate for these shortcomings is proposed. In addition, the performance of this protocol is analyzed and compared with conventional protocols by computer simulation. According to the simulation results, it has been shown that the proposed Reservation TDMA/CDMA scheme could support various transmission rates of user data traffics easily, and it could utilize the variations of the treansmission rates in each active call more efficiently.

Channel estimation in OFDM systems is usually carried out in frequency domain based on the least-squares (LS) method and the minimum mean-square error (MMSE) method with known pilot symbols. The LS estimator has a merit of low complexity but may suffer from the noise because it does not consider any noise effect in obtaining its solution. To enhance the noise immunity of the LS estimator, we consider estimation noise in time domain. Residual noise existing at the estimated channel coefficients in time domain could be reduced by reasonable selection of a threshold value. To achieve this, we propose a channel-estimation method based on a time-domain threshold which is a standard deviation of noise obtained by wavelet decomposition. Computer simulation shows that the estimation performance of the proposed method approaches to that of the known-channel case in terms of bit-error rates after the Viterbi decoder in overall SNRs.

This paper relates to the soft decision method with erasure technique in digital terrestrial television broadcasting system. The proposed decoder use the CSI derived from using the pilots in receiver. The active real(I) and imaginary(Q) data are transferred to the branch metric calculation block that decides the Euclidean distance for the soft decision decoding and also the estimated CSI values are transferred to the same block. After calculating the Euclidean distance for the soft decision decoding, the Euclidean distance of branch metric is multiplied by CSI. To do so, new branch metric values that consider each carrier state information are obtained. We simulated this method in better performance of about 0.15dB to 0.17dB and 2.2dB to 2.9dB in Rayleigh channel than that of the conventional soft decision Viterbi decoding with or without bit interleaver where the constellation is QPSK, 16-QAM and 64-QAM.
