Nine pig farms were evaluated for the welfare quality in Korea using animal- and environment-based parameters (particularly air quality parameters) during the winter of 2013. The Welfare Quality® (WQ®) protocol consists of 12 criteria within four principles. The WQ® protocol classifies farms into four categories ranging from 'excellent' to 'not classified'. Each of these criteria has specific measures for calculating scores. Calculations for the welfare scores were conducted online using the calculation model in the WQ® protocol. Environment-based parameters like microclimate (i.e., temperature, relative humidity, air speed, and particulate matter), bacteria (total airborne bacteria, airborne total coliform, and airborne total Escherichia coli), concentration of gases (carbon dioxide, ammonia, and hydrogen sulfide) were measured to investigate the relationship between animal- and environment-based parameters. Correlations between the results of animal- and environment-based parameters were estimated using spearman correlation coefficient. The overall assessments found that five out of nine farms were 'acceptable', and four farms were 'enhanced'; no farm was 'not classified'. The average score for the four principles across the nine farms, in decreasing order, were 'good feeding' (63.13 points) > 'good housing' (59.26 points) > 'good health' (33.47 points) > 'appropriate behaviors' (25.48 points). In the result of the environment aspect, the relative humidity of farms 2 (93.4%), 3 (100%), and 9 (98%) was much higher than the recommended maximum relative humidity of 80%, and four out of the nine farms had ammonia concentrations greater than 40 ppm. Ammonia had negative correlations with 'positive social behaviors' and positive emotional states: content, enjoying, sociable, playful, lively, happy and it had positive correlations with negative emotional states: aimless, distressed. The concentration of carbon dioxide had negative correlations with positive emotional states; calm, sociable, playful, happy and it had a positive correlation with negative emotional state; aimless. Our results indicate that the control of the environment for growing pigs can help improve their welfare, particularly via good air quality (carbon dioxide, ammonia, hydrogen sulfide).

Purpose: To investigate the quality of training hospital based treatment, we evaluated the soft tissue sarcoma treatments afforded by general orthopedic surgeon rather than orthopedic oncologist. Materials and Methods: We reviewed the details of 25 patients with pathologically confirmed soft tissue sarcoma who registered in our hospital between July 1997 and 2006 September. We evaluated initial diagnoses, the surgical treatment (including adjuvant therapy) and the follow up method used and related these to the principles of soft tissue sarcoma treatment. Results: The study cohort comprised 16 men and 9 women of mean age of 50.2 years. A diagnostic biopsy was performed in 9(36%) cases before definitive surgical treatment. Wide excision was performed in 13(52%) cases. For the 12 cases in which the grade of sarcoma was estimated, adequate surgical treatment with adjuvant therapy was performed only in 4(33.3%) cases. In addition, an adequate follow up schedule was adopted in only 4(16%) of the 25 study subjects. Conclusion: Unexpectedly, many cases of soft tissue sarcoma were treated inadequately even in a training hospital. An intensive education program on the treatment of soft tissue sarcoma is necessary for all orthopedic surgeons.
1967 Outer Space Treaty(Treaty on Principles Governing the Activities of States in the Exploration and Use of Outer Space, including the Moon and Other Celestial Bodies; OST) is a treaty that forms the basis of international space law. OST is based on the 1963 Declaration of Legal Principles Governing the Activities of States in the Exploration and Use of Outer Space announced by UNGA resolution. As of May 2013, 102 countries are states parties to OST, while another 27 have signed the treaty but have not completed ratification. OST explicitly claimed that the Moon and Other Celestial Bodies are the province of all mankind. Art. II of OST states that "outer space, including the Moon and other celestial bodies, is not subject to national appropriation by claim of sovereignty, by means of use or occupation, or by any other means", thereby establishing res extra commercium in outer space like high seas. However 1979 Moon Agreement stipulates that "the moon and its natural resources are the Common Heritage of Mankind(CHM)." Because of the number of the parties to the Moon Agreement(13 parties) it does not affect OST. OST also established its specific treaties as a complementary means such as 1968 Rescue Agreement, 1972 Liability Convention, 1975 Registration Convention. OST bars states party to the treaty from placing nuclear weapons or any other weapons of mass destruction in orbit of Earth, installing them on the Moon or any other celestial body, or to otherwise station them in outer space. It exclusively limits the use of the Moon and other celestial bodies to peaceful purposes and expressly prohibits their use for testing weapons of any kind, conducting military maneuvers, or establishing military bases, installations, and fortifications. However OST does not prohibit the placement of conventional weapons in orbit. China and Russia submitted Draft Treaty on the Prevention of the Placement of Weapon in Outer Space and of the Threat or Use of Force against Outer Space Objects(PPWT) on the Conference on Disarmament in 2008. USA disregarded PPWT on the ground that there are no arms race in outer space. OST does not have some articles in relation to current problems such as space debris, mechanisms of the settlement of dispute arising from state activities in outer space in specific way. COPUOS established "UN Space Debris Mitigation Guidelines" based on "IADC Space Debris Mitigation Guidelines" and ILA proposed "International Instrument on the Protection of the Environment from Damage Caused by Space Debris" for space debris problems and Permanent Court of Arbitration(PCA) established "Optional Rules for Arbitration of Disputes Relating to Outer Space Activities" and ILA proposed "1998 Taipei Draft Convention on the Settlement of Space Law Dispute" for the settlement of dispute problems. Although OST has shortcomings in some articles, it is very meaningful in international law in considering the establishment of basic principles governing the activities of States in the exploration and use of outer space, including the Moon and Other Celestial Bodies. OST established the principles governing the activities of states in the exploration and use of outer space as customary law and jus cogens in international law as follows; the exploration and use of outer space shall be carried out for the benefit and in the interests of all countries and shall be the province of all mankind; outer space shall be free for exploration and use by all States; outer space is not subject to national appropriation by claim of sovereignty, by means of use or occupation, or by any other means. The principles of global public interest in outer space imposes international obligations erga omnes applicable to all States. This principles find significant support in legal norms dealing with following points: space activities as the "province of all mankind"; obligation to cooperate; astronauts as envoys of mankind; avoidance of harmful contamination; space activities by States, private entities and intergovernmental organisations; absolute liability for damage cauesd by certain space objects; prohibition of weapons in space and militarization of the celestial bodies; duty of openness and transparency; universal application of the international space regime.

The management of acute acromioclavicular dislocations has usually followed the accepted principles of obtaining an anatomical reduction of the joint and maintaining it until soft tissue healing has occurred. So, the preferred treatment for acute acromioclavicular dislocation is controversial. We analysed operatively treated twenty-eight cases for acute acromioclavicular dislocation between February 1994 and January 1997 and reviewed postoperatively to evaluate the results of three different methods. We collected retrospectively the data via clinical history, associated injury, type of injury, radiographic review, Taft score, and final results. Follow up time averaged 14 months. (range, 12 to 21 ) In according to Rockwood's classification, ]7 cases were type Ⅲ, 1 case was type IV, and 10 cases were type V. Ten cases were treated with the modified Phemister method, ten cases with the modified Bosworth method and eight cases with the modified Weaver-Dunn method. ]n patients treated by modified Phemister method, the Taft score was 9.4 points and 8 cases achieved good or excellent results. In patients treated by modified Bosworth method, the Taft score was 9.8 points and 8 cases achieved good or excellent results. In patients treated by modified Weaver-Dunn method, the Taft score was 10.3 points and 7 cases achieved good or excellent results. The overall Taft score was 9.9 points and 23 cases achieved good or excellent results. There were four complications, such as calcification or metallic loosening or breakage of K-wire, but did not influence late results. In conclusions, there was no significant difference of results regarding the different three methods. However, our results indicated that the coracoclavicular ligament reconstruction by transfer of coracoacromial ligament produced better results.
This study surveyed the recognition and satisfaction of food styling for cooks in a deluxe hotel. The most important item for cooks while cooking was 'taste' (57.7%) followed by 'sanitation' (25.9%). For food styling education in hotels, only 35.5% of the hotels surveyed had their own education program, and the media was the main source of food styling information (54.9%). Also, chefs studied food styling(49.6% of respondents) by themselves, for 'personal development'(73.8%). Average scale of recognition of food trends was $3.35{\pm}.83$, and that of the principles of food styling was $3.41{\pm}.84$. There were the significant differences in terms of the recognition of food styling in the age groups, cooking experience, and the positions. Moreover, cooks' overall satisfaction with food styling was found low with the average of $2.90{\pm}.89$. For the satisfaction with food styling based on the general characteristics, there was a significant difference in 'positions' (p<0.1) and 'education' (p<0.1), which suggested that the higher positions and education, the greater satisfaction with food styling.
The purpose of this study is to investigate antioxidant properties in microbial fermentation products of Lonicera japonica Thunb extract. The bacterium Lactobacillus plantarum NHP1 was isolated from conventional fermented foods. Modern pharmacological studies show that Lonicera japonica Thunb and its active principles of wide pharmacological actions. For instance, they show a strong efficacy in antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, antiviral, anti-endotoxin, blood fat reducing, antipyretic, and antioxidant activities. The extract of Lonicera japonica Thunb was obtained by extracting dried Lonicera japonica Thunb using either hot water or 70% ethanol as a solvent. Fermentation was performed in a 2L fermentor containing 1.2 L of extractat conditions of $30^{\circ}C$ and 100 rpm for 48 hr. The amount of cholorogenic acid was $2.65{\mu}g/g$ in hot water extract. The total phenolic content (GAE, gallic acid equivalent) in hot water and 70% ethanol were $56.5{\pm}4.9$ GAE mg/g and $72.7{\pm}5.3$ GAE mg/g, respectively. After fermentation, the phenolic content increased to 30.2% in hot water and 12.9% in ethanol extract. In the same manner, flavonoid content increased to more than 75% regardless of extract solvent. ABTS (2,2-azino-bis-3-ethylbenzthiazoline-6-sulfonic acid) value noticeably increased to 50% after fermentation.

A Study on the Introduction of Dose Constraints for Occupational Exposures: Focusing on Experts' Opinions by Field of Radiation Industry. The International Commission on Radiological Protection suggests Justification, Optimization, and Dose Limits as the three principles of radiological protection, among which, as a means of protection optimization, ICRP 103 recommends to set dose constraints. In this study, opinions are collected from experts in each category of radiation industries for stakeholder participation to qualify dose constraints. A guidance and questionnaire for analyzing the dose constraints have been developed for their collection, and opinions were collected from radiation protection experts in selected categories. 20 out of 22 experts, consisted with 91%, have assessed the dose constraints setting is necessary, and 2 experts, consisted with 9%, assessed it is unnecessary. The average of dose constraint presented by experts for RI production institutions is to be the highest level of 15.3 mSv, and light-water reactors (14.6 mSv), non-destructive inspection (14.4 mSv), heavy-water reactor and medical institutes (13.9mSv) is to be above the overall average dose constraint. In case of public institutions, the average dose constraint is to be 8.6mSv, and research institutions (8.8mSv), educational institutions (9.6 mSv), waste disposal sites (9.7 mSv), and general industries (10.6 mSv) are resulted to below the overall average dose constraint. As for the means of setting dose constraints, 8 experts out of 22 suggested setting dose constraints for each specific industry or task. And, 5 experts especially suggest setting dose constraints for the specific groups with relatively high exposure, such as workers with above the record levels. As a countermeasure for workers who exceed the dose constraints, 15 experts out of 22 expressed that the cause analyses for them and preparation for a plan of reducing them are necessary.
Nerve conduction studies help delineate the extent and distribution of the neural lesion. The nerve conduction was studied on upper(median, ulnar and radial nerves) and lower(personal, posterior tibial and sural nerves) extremities in 83 healthy subjects 23 to 66 years of age. and normal values were established(Table 1). The mean motor terminal latency (TL) were : median. 3.6(${\pm}0.6$)milliseconds ; ulnar. 2.9(${\pm}0.5$) milliseconds ; radial nerve. 2.3(${\pm}0.4$) milliseconds. Mean motor nerve conduction velocity(MNCV) along distal and proximal segments: median. 61.2(${\pm}9.1$) (W-E) and 57.8(${\pm}13.2$) (E-Ax) meters per second ; ulnar. 63.7(${\pm}9.1$) (W-E) and 50.(${\pm}10.0$) meters per second. Mean sensory nerve conduction velocity(SNCV) : median. 34.7(${\pm}6.7$) (F-W), 63.7(${\pm}7.1$) (W-E) and 62.8(${\pm}12.3$) (E-Ax)meters per second ; ulnar. 38.0(${\pm}6.7$)(F-W), 63.4(${\pm}7.5$) (W-E) and 57.0(${\pm}10.1$) (E-Ax)meters per second ; radial, 45.3(${\pm}6.8$) (F-W) and 64.2(${\pm}11.0$) (W-E) meters per second ; sural nerve, 43.4(${\pm}6.1$) meters per second. The amplitudes of action potential and H-reflex were also standardized. Mean H latency was 28.4(${\pm}3.2$) milliseconds. And. the fundamental principles, several factors altering the rate of nerve conduction and clinical application of nerve stimulation techniques were reviewed.
The ways of preservation of chotkal which are classified by the principles of fermentation, are analyzed and interpreted. Chotkal is preserved mainly as two forms; one is chot and the other is shikhae. The fact that shikhae is preserved only in the eastern area can be attributed to two main reasons; (1) raw materials are available throughout four seasons and (2) relatively less production of salt. Chotkal is further classified into nine different ways of preservation and shikhae into fourteen. Regional characteristics for chot include that (1) in western part, Kechot is preserved in salty water (2) in central part Origuljot is fermented either with salt and powdered red pepper, or with salt, powdered red pepper and cooked cereal, (3) in southern part, freshwater shrimp with (1) salt only, (2) salt and powdered red pepper, (3) salt and cooked cereal, (4) salt, powdered red pepper and cooked cereal, (4) in northern part, fish with salt and powdered red pepper. Those for shikhae include that malt is used in southern part, shredded radish in northern part and cooked cereal more in southern part than in northern part.
