Detection of Sea-water Intrusion Caused by Tidal Action Using DC Resistivity Monitoring (전기비저항 모니터링을 이용한 해수침투 파악)

  • The 1 $km^2$ area studied is located in Sukchun-ri, Hwasung-koon, the southern part of Kyeonggi-do. Even though this site has been known as a contaminated area caused by seawater intrusions, geophysical and geochemical surveys have never been carried out at the site to determine the extent of the seawater contamination and to investigate whether the seawater intrusion is in progress. The purpose of this study is to determine the extent of seawater contamination and a preferred channel of the seawater intrusion using geophysical methods such as DC resistivity surveys with Schlumberger array and a dipole-dipole array. In order to determine whether the seawater intrusion is in progress in the area, DC resistivity monitoring with Schlumberger array was performed. According to the resistivity map obtained from the inversion of the resistivity data measured with Schlumberger array, the study area is divided into two districts as relatively lowly resistive (less than 30 ohm-m) and highly resistive (more than 30 ohm-m) areas. The distribution of the lowly resistive area is consistent with the distribution of the layer composed of clay minerals, and the resistivity of this layer decreases slowly as approaching to the old seashore. Hydrogeological analysis shows that the clay layer within a distance of about 200 m from the seashore has been already contaminated by sea-water and its electric conductivity is 8 times higher than that of the sand layer covered by the clay layer. According to the results of the 2-dimensional DC resistivity surveys with a dipole-dipole array, there are two preferred channels of the seawater intrusion in the site, and both the channels are in the NW-SE direction from the old seashore. The lowly resistive zone in the southern channel extends to a depth of 80 m. The DC resistivity monitoring with Schlumberger array was carried out along the preferred channel which has the low resistivity Bone (fracture zone) that extended to a depth of 80 m. The time series of apparent resistivity, measured at a distance of 260 m from the old coast line, fluctuates with a period of 12 hours. From these observations, it can be concluded that the seawater intrusion caused by tidal action is still in progress along the fractured zone interpreted by the DC resistivity surveys with a dipole-dipole array.

  • A Protomodel Space Infrared Cryogenic System (PSICS) cooled by a stirling cry-ocooler has been designed. The PSICS has an IR sensor inside the cold box which is cooled by a stirling cryocooler with refrigeration capacity of 500mW at 80K in a vacuum vessel. It is important to minimize the heat load so that the background thermal noise can be reduced. In order to design the cryogenic system with low heat load and to reduce the remained heat load, we have performed numerical analyses. In this paper, we present the design factors and the results obtained by the thermal analysis of the PSICS.

Taxol Production in Taxus Cell Cultures : 2. Effects of Sugar Concentration (주목 세포배양에 의한 Taxol 생산:2. 당농도의 영향)

  • The effects of sucrose on cell growth and anticancer drug taxol production were investigated in cell suspension cultures of Taxus cuspidata. The cells were cultured at various concentrations of sucrose (20 to $100g/\ell$). The highest specific growth rata was achieved at $40g/\ell$ of sucrose as 0.076 day-1 and the highest final cell density, 34 g DCW/$\ell$ after 25 days of culture, was obtained at $60g/\ell$ of sucrose. The cell yield(Yx/s) was found to be 0.55g cell/g sucrose and doubling time (Td) was 9.12 day. High concentration of sucrose (80, $100g/\ell$) and the addition of osmoticum enhanced the production of taxol significantly. The maximum taxol production was $1.36mg/\ell$ at $80g/\ell$ of sucrose, which was 0.01% as a specific content.

  • Network Quotient, an important figure in modern society, the intelligibility of speech as a conversation partner to maximize pulling up feeling of liking it as much as possible has become an important issue. The humidity of air in the intelligibility of speech have many influences. Therefore, in this paper, we carried out experiment to apply voice signal analysis techniques which to analyze influenced vocal cords in 30%, 50% and 80%, maintaining a constant humidity of the environment. With this in mind, we carried out experiments on intensity and pitch of voice signal on twenty male 20s in maintaining a constant humidity 30%, 50% and 80% of humidity. Finally, we carried out study to draw a significance through statistical analysis measuring characteristic parameter of vocal cord function to change of humidity.

  • This is the first study of the relation between the controversy on Korean Economics and the controversy on the capitalist social formation of Korea in the 1970-80. The main results of this study is as following: Almost all Korean Economists think 'Korean Economics' do not exist, but korean philosophers think Korean philosophy which is different from western philosophy do exist. So Korean economists tend to believe in the universal validity of western economics. In fact, Some Korean Economists began to argued about universal validity of American-Western economics and making Korean Economics in 1970s, the controversy ceased in the mid of 1980s. Left-wing Economists insisted that the right wing conservetive economics is imported from, mainly, U.S.A, Korea is academic colony of U.S.A. But progressive economics was also imported from Western world, or Soviet Union in the process of controvesy on Korean capitalist social formation in 1980s. It is necessary to retrospect and re-examine the controversy on Korean Economics and on Korean capitalist social formation to develop Economics of Korea.

A Experiment of Sprinkler System to Protect Ceiling Joints of Sandwich Panel Warehouses (샌드위치패널 창고의 벽 천장 접합부 방호용 스프링클러설비 실험)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to test the sprinkler performance to protect the wall and ceiling joints of the sandwich panel warehouse in case of fire. Method: Based on the field surveys, test was setup and combustibles were prepared. The sprinkler discharge tests were performed at the corner of the wall and right under the sprinkler head. Results: It has been found that operation of the K-80 closed sprinkler head prevents the ignition of the sandwich panel and therefore no damage to the joints of sandwich panels. To prevent skipping phenomenon, it is necessary to install the sprinkler head from the corner of the wall and to keep a minimum distance of 2.4m and a maximum distance of 3m. Conclution: A Standard Operation Procedure should be prepared to suppress and rescue of fire brigade for a sandwich panel warehouse protected by perimeter sprinklers preventing a ignition of core materials and control fire.

Synthesis of Zeolite A from Coal Fly Ash (석탄회로부터 제올라이트 A의 합성)

  • Zeolite A was synthesized from coal fly ash by the microwave heating as well as the conventional heating method. The effects of reaction time, the amount of sodium aluminate, and the reaction temperature on the crystallization of zeolite A were investigated. The optimum crystallization time was about 3 to 6 h in the temperature range of $80{\sim}100^{\circ}C$. The amount of sodium aluminate was found to be optimum when the molar ratio $SiO_2/Al_2O_3$ of starting solution was in the range of 0.44 to 1.05 at above $90^{\circ}C$, However, The more amount of sodium aluminate was required to get zeolite A at $80^{\circ}C$. Although the rate of crystallization was slightly faster in the microwave heating than that in the conventional heating, the reaction time need to obtain fully crystallized zeolite A was similar in both methods. Therefore, the influence of the microwave heating was not so large compared with the conventional heating in the synthesis of zeolite A from coal fly ash.

Characteristic Findings of Exercise ECG Test, Perfusion SPECT and Coronary Angiography in Patients with Exercise Induced Myocardial Stunning (게이트 심근관류 SPECT상 운동 유발성 기절심근을 보이는 환자의 운동부하 심전도, 관류 SPECT 및 심혈관 조영술 소견)

  • Purpose : Transient wall motion abnormality and contractile dysfunction of the left ventricle (LV) can be observed in patients with coronary artery disease due to post-stress myocardial stunning. To understand clinical characteristics of stress induced LV dysfunction, we have compared the findings of exercise stress test, myocardial perfusion SPECT and coronary angiography between subjects with and without post-stress LV dysfunction. Materials and Methods : Among subjects who underwent exercise stress test, myocardial perfusion SPECT and coronary angiography within a month of interval, we enrolled 36 patients with post-stress LV election fraction (LVEF) was $\geq5%$ lower than rest (stunning group) and 16 patients with difference of post-stress and rest LVEF was lesser than 1 %(non-stunning group) for this study. Treadmill exercise stress gated myocardial perfusion SPECT was performed with dual head SPECT camera using 740 MBq Tc-99m MIBI and coronary angiography was also performed by conventional Judkins method. Results : Stunning group had a significantly higher incidence of hypercholesterolemia than non-stunning group(45.5 vs. 7.1%, p=0.01). Stunning group also had higher incidence of diabetes mellitus and lower incidence of hypertension, but these were not statistically significant. Stunning group had larger and more severe perfusion defect in stress perfusion myocardial SPECT than non-stunning group(extent 18.2 vs. 9.2%, p=0.029; severity 13.5 vs. 6.9, p=0.040). Stunning group also had higher degree of reversibility of perfusion defect, higher incidence of positive exercise stress test and higher incidence of having severe stenosis ($80{\sim}99%$) in coronary angiography than non-stunning group, but these were not statistically significant. In stunning group, all of 4 patients without perfusion defect had significant coronary artery stenosis and had received revascularization treatment. Conclusion : Patients with post-stress LV dysfunction had larger and more severe perfusion defect and severe coronary artery stenosis than patients without post-stress LV dysfunction. All of the patients without perfusion defect in stunning group had significant coronary artery stenosis and needed revascularization. Therefore, we suggest that invasive diagnostic procedures and therapeutic interventions might be needed in patients with post-stress LV dysfunction.

Studies on Hilly Pasture Landscape Expectancy, Satisfaction of Tourist on Grassland Facility: A case Study of Yangtae Farm Visitor (산지목장 방문자의 목장 경관 기대와 목초지 및 초지시설 만족도에 관한 연구 : 양떼목장 방문객의 경우)

  • The objective of study was to find the relationship in hilly pasture landscape expectancy and tourist's satisfaction on grassland facility. It was followed by literature reviews and visitors' survey in Daegwallyeong Yangtte Farm on 31, July, 2014. 367 respondents were analyzed by F-test, t-test, Chi-square and Fisher's Exact Test at 0.05 level after data screening process. Computing factors were sex, marital status, age, academic career and occupation. The results was as followed; First, major respondents group of survey were in oder of woman, forty years old group, married office worker, and university graduate. Second, the expectancy for grassland was significant difference in age, but pasture color expectancy was not significant difference in gender, age, educational background, marital status, and there was significant difference in favorite grassland type with age, marital status. Third, favorite fence type was not significant difference along with all group of participants. However, color and material of fence was significant difference in marital status. Fourth, preferred ranch road was significant difference with occupation and marital status. There was significant difference in favorite grassland type near ranch road along with age and occupation type. Fifth, the mean satisfaction was 3.6 point in 5.0. Therefore, all respondents were generally satisfaction in visited. Tourists were more interested in ranch landscape than experience or contacts to animal.

The Evaluation of the Radiation Dose and Image Quality Through the Change of the Tube Voltage in Cerebral CT Angiography (전산화단층촬영장치를 이용한 뇌 혈관조영 검사에서 관전압 변화에 따른 방사선량과 영상의 질 평가)

  • To image diagnosis in neurovascular diseases using Multi-Detector Computed Tomography(MDCT), injected the same contrast material when inspecting Brain Computed Tomography Angiography(BCTA) to examine radiation dose and Image quality on changing Cerebral Artery CT number by tube voltage. Executed an examination with same condition[Beam Collimation $128{\times}0.6mm$, Pitch 0.6, Rotation Time 0.5s, Slice Thickness 5.0mm, Increment 5.0mm, Delay Time 3.0sec, Care Dose 4D(Demension ; D)] except for tube voltage on 50 call patients for BCTA and divided them into two groups (25 people for a group, group A: 80, group B: 120kVp). From all the acquired images, set a ROI(Region of Interest) on four spots such as left cerebral artery, right cerebral artery, posterior cerebral artery and cerebral parenchyma to compare quantitative evaluation, qualitative evaluation and effective dose after measuring CT number value from Picture Archiving Communications System(PACS). Evaluating images with CT number acquired from BCTA examination, images with 80 kVp was 18% higher in Signal to Noise Ratio and 19% in Contrast to Noise Ratio than those with 120 kVp. It was seen that expose dose was decreased by over 50% with tube voltage 80 kVp than with 120 kVp. Group A (25 patients) was examination with tube voltage 80kVp while group B with 120 kVp to examine radiation dose and Image quality. It is considered effective to inspect with lower tube voltage than with conventional high kVp, which can reduce radiation dose without any affect on diagnosis.
