Determination of Transferring Period of Several Plants using Image Processing (영상처리를 이용한 작물의 모종시기 결정)

  • This study carried out to develope the vision system which automatically finds out a optimum transferring period of plants (Perilla, Platycodon grandifloums and Lactuca sativa) by using image process-ing. This system mearsured a height, long diameter and short diameter of the three plants with 20 replications. Following results were obtained on each plant. Compared with real data to be measured by hand with the vernier calipers, height, long diameter and short diameter of Perilla showed 0.5 mm average error rate with 1.7%, 4.7 mm average error rate with 3.9% and 5.5 mm average error rate with 6.9% respectively. Those of Platycodon grandifloums showed 2.4 mm with 8.1%, 3.4 mm with 7.2% and 4.0 mm with 10.4% respectively. Those of Lactuca sativa showed 4.0 mm with 9.1 %,3.4 mm with 7.2% and 3.6 mm with 9.4% respectively. The system could be used to transfer accurately the plant seedling, if the system were improved enough to reduce error rate for the optimum transferring period of a plant in the greenhouse.

The Temporal Coordination of the Lower Extremity by Increasing High-heel Height during Walking (보행 시 하이힐 굽 높이 증가에 따른 하지의 시간 협응성)

  • The goal of this study was to investigate the lower extremity's coordination determined by temporal relations with increasing high-heel (3, 7, 9cm) while walking on a treadmill. Twelve healthy women who walked on a treadmill under three conditionswearing 3cm high-heel shoes, 7cm, and 9cm-while kinematic data were collected using a six-cameras (240Hz) Qualisys ProReflex System. From these data, knee flexion, tibia internal rotation, and foot eversion were calculated in Euler technique and found the time for occurring the maximum angle of these movements. The maximum angle of these movements occurred almost simultaneously in 3cm high-heel walking, but not in 7cm and 9cm. The ratio of time for maximum angle of the foot eversion to tibia internal rotation converged to 1 in 3cm high-heel walking, but were less than 1 in 7cm and 9cm. In conclusion, it was indicated that 3cm high-heel walking had better the lower extremity's coordination compared with 7, 9cm high-heel walking.

The Evaluation of Antifungal Activities and Safeties of 6-(4-Iodophenyl)amino-7-chloro-5,8-quinolinedione (6-(4-요오도페닐)아미노-7클로로-5,8-퀴놀린디온의 항진균작용 및 안전성 평가)

  • 6-(4-Iodophenyl)amino-7-chloro-5,8-quinolinedione (RCK9) was evaluated for antifungal activities. The MIC values of RCK9 were determined against A. flavus, c. albicans, C. neoformans and F. oxysporium. The RCK9 showed generally potent antifungal activities against the tested fungi. Acute oral toxicity studies of RCK9 were carried out in ICR mice of both sexes. These acute oral toxicities of RCK9 had been evaluated. RCK9 were low and LD50 values were over 2,850 mg/kg in ICR mice. The genotoxicities of RCK9 had been evaluated. RCK9 was negative in Ames test with Salmonella typhimurium and chromosomal aberration test in CHL cells. The clastogenicity was tested on the RCK9 with in vivo mouse micronucleus assay. RCK9 did not show any clastogenic effect in mouse peripheral blood and was negative in mouse micronucleus assay. The results indicate that RCK9 has no genotoxic potential under these experimental conditions.

Effects of $Ca^{2+}\;:\;K^+$ Ratio in Nutrient Solution on the Growth and Quality of Marjoram(Origanum majorana) and Oregano(Origanum vulgare) Grown in Hydroponic Culture (수경재배시 Ca 및 K 이온의 조성비율 차이가 마죠람과 오레가노의 생육 및 품질에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate a proper $Ca^{2+}\;:\;K^+$ ratio in nutrient solution to produce marjoram and oregano by hydroponics. Two herbs were grown for 40 days with the $Ca^{2+}\;:\;K^+$ ratio of 3.5;13, 4.5:11(standard herb's nutrient solution), 5.5:9 and 6.5:7mM${\cdot}L^{-1}$ of herb's nutrient solution developed by European Vegetable R &D Center, Belgium. The ratio of 5.5:9, and 6.5:7 mM${\cdot}L^{-1}$ showed better results in growth of marjoram than other treatments. Vitamin C contents and amounts of esential oil were the highest in the ratio of 5.5:9 and 6.5:7, respectively. Inoregano, the growth and vitamin C contents were the highest in the ratio of 5.5:9 and 6.5:7 mM${\cdot}L^{-1}$, respectively. The content (%) and amount (mg/plant) of essential oil were the highest in the ratio of 6.5:7mM${\cdot}L^{-1}$. These results indicated that 5.5:9 and 6.5:7 mM${\cdot}L^{-1}$were proper $Ca^{2+}\;:\;K^+$ ratio of nutrient solution of marjoram and oregano, respectively, by hydropoinics.

Components in Chinese Cabbage (Brassica rapa ssp. campestris) as Affected by Soil pH: 6.9 vs. 7.6 (토양의 pH (6.9 vs. 7.6)에 의한 배추 (Brassica rapa ssp. campestris) 의 성분에 대한 영향)

  • Functional and nutritional components of 7 cultivars of Chinese cabbage (CC; Brassica rapa subspecies campestris) from China were analyzed to compare the effects of soil pH (6.9 vs. 7.6). The CC grew on the soil of pH6.9 (CC-6.9) contained significantly increased amounts (2.3~4-fold) of pectin, crude protein, vitamin C and vitamin E compared to the control. The contents of ash and minerals (Ca, Fe, Na, Zn, K and Mn) were also significantly increased in CC-6.9. However, CC-6.9 contained 16-75% lower contents of reducing sugars, cellulose and crude fat than CC-7.6. CC-7.6 contained more glucosinolates than CC-6.9; gluconasturtiin (20.68 vs. 0.84 $nmol{\cdot}g^{-1}$ wet wt) and gluconapin (202.55 vs. 0.15 $nmol{\cdot}g^{-1}$ wet wt). In conclusion, CC-6.9 had an improved texture (high pectin and low cellulose) and nutritional value (high in protein, Ca, Fe, Zn, vitamin C, and E), whereas CC-7.6 had better taste (high in reducing sugars) and anticancer functionality (high in glucosinolates).

Infection Status with Clonorchis sinensis Metacercariae in Pseudorasbora parva from a Tributary Stream of Naktonggang (River) in Pusan, Korea

  • This study was performed to investigate the infection status with Clonorchis sinensis metacercariae in Pseudorasbora parva from a tributary stream of Naktonggang (River) in Kangso-gu, Pusan. A total of 325 P. parva was collected in 4 sites using fish traps. They were transferred in the laboratory, measured the length and examined by artificial digestion method. In the site I, a total of 72 (80.0%) out of 90 fish examined was infected with 1~665 (112 in average) metacercariae of C. sinensis. The average number of metacercariae infected by the size of fish was 146 in the group of over 8 cm, 61 in 7.0~7.9 cm and 86 in below 6.9 cm. In the site II, a total of 50 (83.3%) out of 60 fish examined was infected with 1~178 (31 in average) metacercariae. The average number of metacercariae was 40 in the group of over 8 cm 35 in 7.0~7.9 cm, 23 in 6.0~6.9 cm and 25 in below 5.9 cm. In the site III, a total of 68 (97.1%) out of 70 fish examined was infected with 1~2,662 (508 in average) metacercariae. The average number of metacercariae was 679 in the group of over 7.0 cm, 444 in 6.0~6.9 cm and 426 in below 5.9 cm. In the site IV, a total of 103 (98.1%) out of 105 fish examined was infected with 1~1,536 (416 in average) metacercariae. The average number of metacercariae was 532 in the group of over 7 cm, 353 in 6.0~6.9 cm and 262 in below 5.9 cm. From the above results, it is confirmed that there are wide differences in the infection status of C. sinensis metacercariae in P. paeva according to investigation sites, and P. parva collected from the lower stream are more heavily infected than those from the upper stream.

Components Related to Yield of CNU Glutinous Rice Lines on Two Nitrogen Levels (찰성벼 CNU계통에 대한 질소 수준별 주요 수량 관련 형질)

  • Objectives of this study was to find the effect on two different nitrogen levels about agricultural characteristics of CNU rice lines developed at Crop Genetics and Breeding Laboratory, Chungnam Nat'l Univ.. Materials used were two black and one white glutinous rice lines, which were transplanted by hand with $30{\times}15cm$ at CNU paddy field on May 23, 2009. These lines was designed with two replication by two nitrogen levels as 7kg and 9kg per 10a. As the result; Culm length of all lines used were higher at 7kg than 9kg per 10a while panicle length was longer at 9kg nitrogen level. Tillers per plant of CNU 08-01 and CNU 08-02 lines except CNU 08-101 showed highly at 9kg level, but that of other leading varieties were not constant trends in spite of increasing nitrogen. Ripening ratio of CNU 08-01 and 08-02 lines were higher at 7kg but CNU 08-101 line was higher at 9kg. 1,000 grain weight and unhulled rice yield per 20 plants in all CNU lines were highly appeared at 9kg levels per 10a.

  • Cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) has become widely available in recent years and is recognized as an important diagnostic tool for varies disease and condition of the orofacial structure. Clinician is easy to determine adequate treatment plan for pediatric patients by using CBCT. CBCT is used in Chonbuk National University Dental Hospital since 2005. This research presents clinical application of CBCT on patients visiting department of pediatric dentistry in Chonbuk National University Dental Hospital from Jan, 2005 to July, 2011. 1. Total number of patients taken CBCT is 252, and total number of area taken CBCT is 279. 2. An age group form 9 years to 12 years showing 53% was highest and percentage of 6~8 years showed 24%. 3. Chief complaints for CBCT taking are position and shape of impacted teeth (49.1%), mesiodens (19.4%), supernumerary teeth (7.9%), position and root canal shape of erupting teeth (7.2%), cyst (5.4%), inflammatory lesion (3.9%), odontoma (3.9%), tumor (2.2%), and et al. 4. Treatments are extraction (29.7%), orthodontic traction and leveling (24.0%), follow up (16.5%), refer to other professional part (11.5%), endodontic treatment (3.9%), surgical removal (2.9%), malsupialization (3.9%), enucleation (1.1%), and fail to follow up (5.0%), and et al.

Number of intrauterine eggs in female Enterobius Mermicularis by body length (요충 자충의 길이별 보유 충란수)

  • In order to correlate the number of eggs In female Enterobius vermicularis with their body length and to re-evaluate the number of eggs liberated by gravid females, a total of 203 worms were examined. Those females were removed from naturally infected orphans with mebendazole (100mg) and had been fixed in 10% formalin(Cho et al., 1981). The decent ones which were selected under dissecting microscope were unbroken, neatly fixed females without contaminated eggs on their surface. The worms were measured by their body length, softened in 0.1N NaOH solution overnight, and teased by dissecting needles. And their number of shelled eggs was measured in a counting chamber made as described by Denham et at. (1971). The results were summarized as follows: 1. The observed females, 4.10~9.90mm long, began to have shelled eggs in uterus when body length was 5.50mm or longer. 2. The percentage of females with eggs in uterus was as follows by range of body length: 25% in 5.50~5.99mm long, 53.3% in 6.00~6.49mm long, 86.7% in 6.50~6.99mm long, 95.2% in 7.00~7.49mm long and 100% in 7.50mm or longer. 3. The mean and standard deviation of egg number were as follows by the length of females: $19{\pm}50$ in 5.50~5.99mm long, $734{\pm}1,597$ in 6.00~6.49mm long, $1,473{pm}1,606$ in 6.50~6.99mm long, $1,530{\pm}2,055$ in 7.00~7.49mm long, $2,567{\pm}2,046$ in 7.50~7.99mm long, $5,598{\pm}2,470$ in 8.00~8.49mm long, $9,318{\pm}2,651$ in 8.50~8.99mm long, $10,678{\pm}2,892$ in 9.00~9.49mm long and $13,323{\pm}1,778$ in 9.50~9.90mm long. 4. The numbers of uterine eggs showed greater individual variation when the female lengths were in range of 5.5~8.0mm. When the female length was longer than 9.0mm, the egg numbers were over 10,000 in majority, and showed lesser individual variations. Above results su99ested that the e99 Production in female 5. vermicularis began in 28~32 days after infection and that in early stapes, the egg Production varied by individual worms, but in gravid females longer than 9. Qmm at last deposited 10,000 to 16,000 eggs in their uterus with the least individual variations.

A Survey of Purchasing Management for School Foodservice Foods in Daegu and Gyeongbuk Province (대구.경북지역 학교급식 식재료 구매 관리 실태 조사)

  • This study was conducted to investigate the food purchasing management of school food services. The subjects consisted of 271 school dietitians in the Daegu and Gyeongbuk area. The percentages of ready-to-use vegetables actually being used were as follows: root of balloon flowers, 88.4%; garlic, 87.8%; blanched bracken, 80.1%; raw lotus root, 65.7%; burdock, 63.5%; small green onion, 63.5%; stem of taro, 57.6%; ginger, 35.1%; radish root, 30.6%; blanched asterscaber, 29.2%; large type welsh onion, 25.8%; carrot, 25.5%; onion, 21.4%; and potato, 8.9%. The percentages of HACCP-certified products being used were as follows: meat, 75.9%; eggs, 66.7%; soybean curds, 65.5%; ready-to-use seafood, 55.1%; starch jellies, 49.9%; spice, 44.9%; kimchi, 30.9%; ready-to-use vegetables, 22.7%; and fruits, 6.9%. The percentages of environment-friendly food items being used were as follows: eggs, 31.0%; meat, 28.7%; soybean curds, 22.1%; and fruits, 17.7%. Of these food items, meat and ready-to-use seafood were being used the most in the elementary schools. The percentages of imported food items being used were as follows: starch jelly, 29.2%; ready-to-use seafood, 24.7%; soybean curds, 20.5%; spice, 15.9%; and fruits, 10.1%. The food items requiring HACCP certification were as follows: beef and pork, 81.5%; chicken, 80.1%; ready-to-use seafood, 78.6%; frozen dumplings, 73.8%; soybean curds, 71.6%; peeled eggs, 70.8%; fish paste, 69.4%; starch jelly, 65.7%; milk, 63.1%; kimchi, 54.6%; spice, 50.6%; frozen noodle, 45.4%; ready-to-use vegetables, 44.3%; and bean sprouts, 29.5%. It was confirmed that 8.1% of the sanitation monitoring results were intentionally misreported. Therefore, to supply good and safe foods to schools, active management is needed in schools and food manufacturing and delivery companies.
