Year-round Production of Fresh Leaves of Narrowhead Goldenray 'Ligularia stenocephala' by Using Stored Rootstocks in Sequential Highland-Lowland Cultivation (저장묘를 이용한 신선 곤달비의 고랭지-평난지 연계 주년생산)

  • This experiment was carrid out to develop a culture method by sequential highland-lowland cultivation for year-round production of fresh leaves in Ligularia stenocephala. Rootstocks of Ligularia stenocephala cultivated in Daegwallyeong openfield were digged up on late October 2007 and then stored in $-2^{\circ}C$ refrigerator. The rootstocks were monthly transplanted in protected greenhouse in Gangneung from November 2007 to June 2008 for lowland cultivation, and also they were monthly transplanted in rainshelter in Daegwallyeong from June to August 2008 for highland cultivation. The early growth of Ligularia stenocephala transplanted on January 2008 was faster. Most plant of Ligularia stenocephala regardless of transplanting time of rootstock grew over 30cm at the time of first harvesting of leaves till May, while the yield decreased during the summer season. The average plant height of Ligularia stenocephala transplanted on July and August in Daegwallyeong highland was lower than that cultivated in Gangneung lowland during spring season. Using of rootstock stored made it possible to produce in highland from Apr. to Oct. during summer season, and also to produce in lowland from Nov. to May next year. Therefore, the results indicates that sequential highland-lowland cutivation by using of stored rootstock will be capable of yearround production of fresh leaves in Ligularia stenocephala.

Effects of Transplanting and Runner Releasing Times of Mother Plants for the Control of Daughter Plant Production Time in Cutting Strawberries (딸기 삽목 시 자묘 생산시기 조절을 위한 어미묘의 정식시기 및 런너 방임시기에 따른 효과)

  • This study was carried out to evaluate the yield of cuttings according to the planting and runner releasing times of mother plants in order to raise the cutting seedlings of raising seedling period 75 days or more needed for forcing culture of strawberries to be transplanted into the field around the 15th of September. Three domestic cultivars of 'Maehyang', 'Jukhyang', and 'Kuemsil' were tested. For experiment 1 to determine the yield of cuttings with the change of transplanting time, the mother plant were planted on February 28, March 20, and April 9 in 20 days intervals, and the cuttings were collected two to three times from June 4 to July 1. Experiment 2 was conducted to investigate the yield of cuttings depending on the runner releasing time, the runners were released in three intervals of 20 days, 40 days, and 60 days after planting the mother plant on March 5, and the cutting were collected once to three times from May 29 to June 26. From the comparisons of cutting yield according to the transplanting time of mother plants, February 28 treatment was more 9~25% and 114~165% for each cultivar than March 20 and April 9, respectively (Experiment 1). The yield of cuttings with releasing time 20 days after planting the mother plants had higher by 60~77% and 104~176% for each cultivar than 40 days and 60 days, respectively (Experiment 2). From these results, in case of propagating the seedlings from cuttings needed for field planting around September 15, early planting around in the latter part of February is the best for cuttings yield. In addition, releasing after the removal of the runners produced from mother plants by 20 days after planting gives an advantage over higher yield of cuttings. Consequently, this study suggest to apply an efficient raising seedling system for labor saving and quality improvement in raising seedlings of three strawberry cultivars in Korea.

Plant Growth and Bolting Affected by Transplanting Time in Angelica gigas (참당귀의 정식시기에 따른 생육 및 추대)

  • This study was carried out to determine plant growth and bolting characteristics of Angelica gigas. Three varieties and/or lines Manchu bolting resistant variety, AGJ90-1 medium type line, and bolting Jinbu local were used for field trial in Suwon. FIve different transplanting times were applied on March 25, April 5, April 15, April 25, and May 5th. Survival rate was decreased by the delayed transplantation and it affected after April 25th respectively. Plant growth by the early transplantation showed the best growth during the beginning stage and recognized signifiquence but not by the late transplantation. Bolting rate revealed severe different by the variety and line, it ranged from $10{\sim}8.1%$ of Manchu, $5.9{\sim}20.3%$ of AGJ90-1, and $58.5{\sim}74.6%$ of Jinbu local clearly. By the treatment of transplantation time bolting rate was different, early plantation showed high bolting rate compare to the late plantation from the all of tested variety and lines. Bolting response according to the transplanting time, bolting resistant variety showed insensibility and boling line showed sensitive response. In Manchu root yield was best when planted on April 5th as 389 kg /10a, in case of AGJ90-1 was determined 377 kg/10a when planted on April 15th, and Jinbu local root yield was showed 133 kg/10a planted on April 25.

Effect of Planting Data and Density on Growth and Yield of Cnidium officinale Makino (日川穹의 定植期와 裁植距籬가 生育 및 收量에 미치는 影響)

  • Field experiment for two years was conducted at Ulleung island to determine the optimum planting date and density of Cnidium officinale Makino. Early planting(Mar. 20) showed the highest yield by 2,880kg per ha as dry wt. Planting time after Mar. 20 was decreased. Late planting had higher occurrence of diseases and insect damage. Early planting had higher extract contents than late planting without violation of the Korean crude drug regulation such as ash contents. Although plants grew better in lower density, they had fewer growing points per plant which actually determine the yield components. Planting density did not affected extract contents in Cnidium officinale Makino. High density planting($35\times15cm$)yielded 33% than those of lower planting density($45\times25cm$).

  • 우리나라 딸기는 시설재배 발전과 품종개발로 겨울을 대표하는 과일로 변신하였다. 이는 저온단일에서 꽃이 만들어져 착과되는 생태적(일계성)특성 때문이다. 우리나라의 딸기 정식기는 95%이상이 촉성작형으로 9월 중순 정식한 후 11월 하순부터 이듬해 5월 하순까지 약 6개월간 수확한다. 반대로 여름작형은 고온장일에서 꽃이 만들어져 착과되는 사계성 품종을 이용하는데 우리나라 500m 이상의 산간 고랭지에서 3-4월에 정식한 후 6월부터 11월까지 수확하지만 생산량은 전체의 0.3% 미만이다. 또한 여름딸기는 제과용으로만 사용되고 있어 6월부터 11월 사이에 신선딸기의 단경기가 발생된다. 이러한 문제를 재배적으로 해결하기 위해 일계성 품종을 이용하여 겨울부터 봄까지 포기냉장한 후 여름과 가을에 꺼내어 정식하면 45일 내외에 수확하는 주냉장 억제작형을 시도하였으나 우리나라에선 실용성이 떨어져 사라져간 기술이다. 그러나 네덜란드는 우리나라와 같은 주냉장기술을 활용(Waiting bed system, Table top system)하여 여름과 가을철에도 딸기를 생산하고 있다. 이 작형은 냉장기간이 길고 재배기술도 까다로울 뿐만아니라 1화방만 수확하여 수량성이 낮은 단점이 있다. 한편 미국에서는 일계성 품종이 품질은 좋으나 고온기에 꽃대발생이 어렵고 사계성은 품질이 떨어지는 단점을 극복하기 위해 일장의 길이와 관계없이 꽃대가 형성되는 중일성 딸기 품종을 보급하여 세계적으로 가장 많은 재배면적을 점유하고 있다. 연중생산이 가능한 중일성 품종을 개발하기 위해 먼저 유전자원을 수집하였고 품질이 좋은 일계성 품종을 중일성 품종과 교배하여 채종하였다. 교배종자를 파종하여 묘를 만든 후 정식하여 실생개체를 선발한 결과 고온장일 조건에서 개화되는 사계성(중일성)율은 약 10-20% 범위로 매우 낮았다. 선발된 우량계통은 영양번식을 통해 증식하여 생산력, 특성, 지역적응성 검정과정을 통해 품종을 개발하였다. 이렇게 단교잡에 의한 중일성 품종 선발육종은 선발율이 0.05%으로 매우 낮았다. 이렇게 우리나라 최초의 중일성딸기 '고슬' 품종이 개발되었다. 이 '고슬'은 9월부터 수확이 가능한데 이 때의 딸기 가격이 kg당 20,000원 이상으로 높으며, 수확기간은 '설향'보다 4개월 더 길게 재배가 가능하다. 연중재배를 위해서는 항상 8-25℃의 범위을 유지해야 품질이 높아지므로 재배관리가 중요하다. 흰가루병에는 저항성이 있으나 시들음병과 탄저병에는 약하고 당도와 경도가 높고, 향이 매우 진하다. 식물공장에서 매우 인기가 있는데 안정된 꽃대발생과 대과, 고당도와 함께 수술의 화분량이 많아 수정이 잘되는 특성으로 식물공장 사업이 확장되고 있는 중동나라에서도 로열티 계약(UAE 등)이 예정되어 있다. 1년 연중 개화되고 착과되는 특성으로 가정에서 기르는 반려식물로도 인기가 있다. 또한 아열대 고랭지대는 항상 서늘한 날씨이기 때문에 한번 정식후 1년 연중생산이 가능하여 2023년 베트남과 로열티 계약(1.6억원)을 하였다. 또한 '고슬'은 우리나라 신선딸기 수출 단경기에 생산되어 주년생산 수출체계에도 기여할 것으로 본다.

Effect of Sowing Date on Growth and Flowering of Celosia argentea (개맨드라미의 파종과 정식기가 생장 및 개화에 미치는 영향)

  • This experiment was conducted to investigate growth and flowering characteristics of Celosia argentea native to Korea treated by monthly sowing from January 20 to August 20 in the field. As sowing date delayed from January to June, the days to flowering were increased. Seedlings sown on February and March planted in the field on April and May were shorter, 31 days to flower, shorter plant height, much more number of flower than those of sown on May and June planted in the field on July and August which means Celosia argentea may be facultative short day plant. And the seedlings sown on February and March were precious ornamentals for bed plant from summer to fall, however, the seedlings sown on April and May were valued for bed or cut plant producing in fall.

Effects of Sprout Length, Amounts and Times of Nitrogen Application, Transplanting Rate and Depth of Wheat Straw Mulch on the Fall Crop Production of Potato (정식시 아장, 질소의 시용량과 시용시기, 재식거리 및 피복정도가 감자추작에 미치는 영향)

  • In order to find out the effect of five kinds of cultural treatments in fall crop production of potatoes the experiments were carried out with Simabara cultivar at Chonan in 1976. Sprouting of dormant seed pieces were induced by soaking in 2ppm GA and 250ppm Ethrel mixed solution for 60 minutes. Seed pieces with longer sprouts at transplanting, and increasing of urea(nitrogen) application from 10 to 30 Kg per 10a resulted better growth, yields, and quality. Application of total nitrogen at one time on 24th July(transplanting date) resulted lower emergence, yields, growth, and quality as compared with divided application on 24th July and 15th August and 5th September. Higher transplanting than 60$\times$20cm or 70$\times$17cm resulted slender growth and lower yields. Deeper mulch with wheat straw (from 4 to 12cm) induced lower maximal earth temperature in summer and higher minimal earth temperature in autumn.

Introduction of Spring Cultivation of Onions by Adapting the Plug Seedling System in the Middle Region of Korean Peninsula (중부지방에서 플러그 육묘에 의한 양파의 춘파재배 가능성)

  • Cultivation of onions in Korean peninsula is so restricted to Southern region, mainly due to inadequate air temperature for the growth of onions in this region. This sometimes resulted in unstable supply of onions. The fluctuation of market prices mainly results from the limited production of onions in such restricted areas. Onions are usually transplanted at the end of fall and cultivated until the beginning of next summer. This study was designed to examine the possibility of extending production region of onions by adopting the plug seedling system, and the effects of plug seedling age, transplanting date, plug cell volume, and variety on the yield of onions were investigated. Transplanting date (Mar. 15 or Apr. 15) did not affect the yield of onions. However, 60-day-old seedlings produced significantly greater bulb yield (107.2 ton/ha) than those of 30- or 90- day-old seedlings. Bulb yields of seedlings raised in 128 and 72 cell trays were 125.0 and 120.8 ton/ha, which were significantly greater than those in other cell trays. Yield of seedlings raised in 406 cell trays was the lowest. Seedlings of mid-late 'Chenjuwhang' yielded 130.5 Ton/ha, which was significantly higher than those of other varieties. Considering the rainy season during early summer, we suggest that seedlings of onions raised for 60 days and transplanted on Mar. 15 should be advantageous in producing of marketable bulbs and that an early 'Yongbongwhang' should be the best variety.

In Vitro Rooting of Cnidium offcinale Makino through Shoot Tip Culture and It's Rhizome Growth under Different Transplanting Dates (경정배양(莖頂培養) 천궁유묘의 기내(器內)발근과 포장정식기별 근경생육(根莖生育))

  • This studies were conducted to improve the root formation of plantlet derived from shoot tip culture and to evaluate the optium transplanting date of Cnidium officinale Makino in field. The rooting rate of shoot-tip derived plantlets was 81% on media containing 1.0 mg/L IBA and 0.05 mg/L BA within 30 days after culture. Upon transfer into potting soil, the seedling grown well under 75% shading. Optimal transplanting date on taking roots and rhizome growth was May 5 in field.

  • 파프리카(Paprika)는 착색단고추로 1995년부터 본격적으로 재배, 수출용으로 소비되었으나 최근에는 피자, 샐러드용으로 국내소비도 많아지고 있다. 재배양식은 여름형과 겨울형이 있다. 여름재배는 3월 중순경 정식, 6월 중순부터 12월까지 수확한다. 겨울재배는 9월 초순정식, 12월 초부터 7월까지 수확하여 연중 재배되고 있다. 시설 내 파프리카 생육적온은 주간 $21-27^{\circ}C$, 야간 $18-19^{\circ}C$이며 습도는 70-80%로서 시설내 발생하는 미소해충들이 번성하기에 좋은 조건이다. 해충 방제는 피해를 정확히 진단하고 발생초기에 적절한 방제수단을 강구하여야 피해를 최소화 할 수 있다. 따라서 재배유형별로 작기 전 기간에 걸쳐 종합적인 해충관리대책이 수립되어야 하며, 어린모 구입시 건전묘 구입, 해충 수시 예찰과 조기방제, 작기 후 포장위생을 철저히 하여야 한다.
