The purposes of this study are to do surveys of the state of health and dental health behaviors of higher grade students in elementary school and their mothers, to investigate the relationship of students' dental health, and to apply those results to the systematic and efficient dental health care. The subjects were totally 618 people, including 309 elementary school students in 4th, 5th, or 6th grades and their mothers in Pusan. The questionnaires were used as instruments, which were made by the researcher and related with other preceeding studies. The content validity of the instruments was tested by two professors of nursing. Dental checking were conducted by an expert of dental sanitation, according to the standard of the World Health Organization. The period of collecting data was 20 months from October 20th to December 20th in 2000 and the collected data were analyzed by SAS program and classified as the real number, the percentage, the mean, the standard deviation, t-test, and F-test. In conclusion, there is no significant correlation between grades and treated or treatment-needed permanent teeth. There is the highest significant correlation between treated or treatment-needed permanent teeth and students' dental health behaviors. There is high significant correlation between mothers' dental health behaviors and students' dental health behaviors. Also, There is significant correlation between mothers' state of dental health and students' state of dental health. From the results of this study, the students' dental health behaviors are the most important variables in the students' state of dental health. But both boys(9.48) and girls(9.97) get the low marks on the total mark 15 about brushing, which can be self-controlled. Therefore, the developments of dental health guidance in education about dental health by mothers or the educational courses in schools, such as brushing educations by the experts, dental health education, brushing after lunch, or the various equipments in brushing, should be accomplished. Above all, behavior-centered education should be conducted instead of knowledge-centered education.
This study was aimed at developing eco-STEAM educational programs based on smart learning, implementing the programs to verify their educational effectiveness, and exploring the possibilities for eco-education. The subjects of Science, Mathematics, Practical Arts, Arts, and Physical Education were analyzed to extract STEAM elements for the 5th and 6th grades at elementary school, and then 16 lessen plans were developed under 8 thematic strands. The programs were applied to classes of 5th and 6th graders, and then tested to see the effectiveness in terms of emotional experience, convergence, creative design and satisfaction. The average scores for post-test were statistically higher than those of pre-test(p<.001), showing positive effectiveness of the eco-STEAM programs developed. This study put out the following conclusions. First, the students got emotional experiences through inquiry and observation. Second, the programs helped students to learn about the environment in their contexts and provided a base for interdisciplinary approach. Third, the students in this study could have opportunities for improving their problem-solving abilities by using the creative design. Forth, the students' interests in the ecological topics were increased throughout regular curricula.
The purpose of this study was to examine how the garment sizes by junior brand manufactures reflect Tween Generation's (ages from 5th grade to 9th grade) actual body sizes. They have diverse clothing preferences in styles and fitting levels as well as diverse body sizes and shapes. The subjects of this study were 520 students (the 5th and 6th grades in elementary schools, the 1st, 2nd and 3rd grades in middle schools) who lived in Jeonju. A questionnaire was used in this study. The data were analyzed by frequency, means, t-test and $\chi^2$. The results were as follows. In the selection of garment size, both the girl and boy students most preferred selecting garments after trying them on by themselves. Boy students tended to select garment size according to their mothers' advice. On the other hand, elementary school students showed a tendency to select garment size with their mothers. In fitting sizes, middle school girls wanted the size to fit tightly rather than loosely on their bodies much more than elementary school girls. Junior brand manufacturers produced sizes that well reflected actual body sizes of elementary and middle school girls. Specifically, the pants best covered their body sizes.

Background Plastic surgery has developed to benefit in a variety of challenging areas formerly handled by other disciplines. Medical students do not have a clear picture of plastic surgery as a career due to lacking scope, clinical practice, and understanding of plastic surgery as a clinical area of expertise, including general practitioners, nursing staff, medical trainees, and the general public, and misconceptions about the extent of reconstructive and plastic surgery. Methods A cross-sectional observational study was conducted on Kuwait University Medical students (2nd-7th Years) over a period of 1 month. A questionnaire and a consent form were provided to eligible students. The inclusion criteria were Kuwait University Medical students from 2nd to 7th Years with signed consent form. The response was collected via email sent in coordination with the Vice Dean of Student Affairs in the Faculty of Medicine. Using statistical package for the social sciences, responses were statistically analyzed. Pearson's chi-square test was used to calculate p-values, where p < 0.05 was considered statistically significant. Results A total of 244 eligible medical students, 121 males and 123 females, were included in the study, with a mean age of 21 (±2) years. Similarly, 126 (51.6%) were preclinical students (2nd-4th-year students), while 118 (48.4%) were clinical students (5th-7th-year students). About 79.8% of medical students believed that plastic surgery plays an essential role in trauma management, whereas 9.2% did not consider plastic surgery significant for trauma management. This study found that only 15.5% of medical students were interested in enrolling in plastic surgery residency after graduation, while 47.1% of students did not consider plastic surgery residency after graduation. However, 37.4% were uncertain. The two most driving factors in deciding on plastic surgery residency were expected income (61.8%) and lifestyle (14.3%). Conclusion Improving medical students' education quality can enhance their perception and awareness of plastic surgery. Students should be taught the broader scope of plastic surgery. The inclusion of formal training during undergraduation is the essence of time and should be added to or improved during plastic surgery rotations with more emphasis on reconstructive and hand/peripheral nerve surgery. Student-led interest groups can be a useful tool for educating students about their specialty.

The purpose of this study was to analyze the types of questions of energy field in the elementary science textbooks and to know the preference types of questions of students by grade. To accomplish this study, the analyzing framework on the types of questions was made and ensured the validity. To know students' preference types of questions, a questionnaire was made and the survey was conducted to the students of D elementary school in B city. The results can be summarized as follows: First, of the questions in the elementary science textbooks, the types of limited question were the most frequent(56%) and the next was the type of relevant question(41.82%). In the type of limited question, the element of propositional type was the most frequent and in the type of relevant question, the element of applicable type was the most frequent. Second, from the result of analyzing students' preference types of questions by grade using questionnaire, we could find as follows. Most of the graders chose retrospective type of question as the easy types of questions. And 3, 4, 6th graders chose justificative type and 5th graders chose applicable type as the difficult ones. Third, as interesting type and want-to-select type, 3th graders students chose propositional type and 4, 5th graders chose retrospective type and 6th graders chose inferring type.
This study is intended to develop a CAI program on the topic of flowing rivers and to investigate how 4th grade students' concepts of it change through this program. The CAI program is made using the GREAT II copyright tool based on a typical 4th grade science Korean textbook. This program consists of 5 sections, which are introduction, rain waters, running waters, river waters, and activity. All contents are animated. Students are 30 4th grade students. One instrument is used how to investigate the concept change of the flowing rivers. The instrument is called the Identification of Flowing River Concept Test(IFRCT, Appendix), which is of a two-tier type and has 8 items. Data are collected before and after the instruction using this program. Data are classified as a scientific model, a naive model, or a "no" model, based on criteria used by Vosniadou(1989). Data are compared. The results show that 4th grade students after the instruction using this program hold a more scientific model on the flowing rivers, than before the instruction using this program. Therefore, the author urges science teachers to use the CAI program to teach students about the flowing rivers.
Purpose: The Purpose of this study was to compare stress level and stress coping behavior of elementary students in southern and northern area of Han river. Results: The level of stress and stress coping behavior according to northern and southern elementary students of seoul, Stress levels tended to increase more significantly with less satisfied life, more study time, in female students than male students. in northern students, and with more individual factors. With regard to stress coping behaviors. students with higher life-satisfaction tended to use active coping, and female students used more positive and mystic coping than negative coping. Conclusion: Students living in northern area, and more female students than male students showed a high level of stress, and students with a higher stress level were better able to cope with stress. Thus, it could be concluded that programs to lower stress levels are needed more than stress intervention programs.
The purpose of this study is to provide basic data for prevention of VDT syndrome by confirming VDT syndrome according to the type of computer use. The subjects recruited for the research were 518 students who were in the 4, 5, 6 grades from 5 schools in Seoul. The data were collected during the period from October 8 through October 18, 2004. The results were as follows; 1. The mean value of the VDT syndrome was 1.55 (SD=.52) for the 5th graders. 2. The degrees of VDT syndrome according to the characteristics of the subjects shows higher scores for the 5th and 6th graders, boys, students with more than 4 online friends, students with a low degree of school life satisfaction, and for students with parents who had a negative attitude for their children. 3. The degree of VDT syndrome according to the type of computer use showed higher scores when the students used computers for game more than for study, more than 11 hours in a week, more than 2 hours at one time, not having any rest, in dark places, with the monitor less than 40 an distance from the eyes, sitting with their legs crossed and when the keyboard was in a higher position than their elbows. The internet absorbed group showed higher scores than the unabsorbed group. 4. There was positive correlation between the hours of computer use and VDT syndrome. Also, internet addiction and VDT syndrome had positive correlation. Therefore, each home and society needs to pay consistent attention to correct computer use by their students. Especially, schools will have to educate about computer utilization and VDT syndrome.
The purpose of this study was to identify the factors of ICT literacy in the primary school students in South Korea and to examine the gender and city size difference on the factor of ICT literacy. To accomplish this goal, we have analyzed the data of Korea Youth Competency Measurement and International Comparative Study I: ICCS 2016 which is nationally collected from the primary school students, currently on the 5 ~ 6th grades in South Korea. 1,188 samples were used in the study excluding missing samples. The participants were 584 5th grad and 604 6th grad students, 620 males (52.2%) and 568 females (47.8%). The mean age was 13.49 years (SD=.52). The result of the study reveals the four factors of ICT literacy through cross-validating exploratory factor analysis and confirmative factor analysis; pleasure of using ICT, perceived usefulness of using ICT, learning ability with using ICT, and operating ability of ICT. This study found that the leaner differ in gender on learning ability with using ICT and pleasure of using ICT. The female students were significantly larger than male students on learning ability with using ICT. However, the male students were significantly larger than male students on pleasure of using ICT. This study found that the leaner differ in city size on the factors of ICT literacy excluding pleasure of using ICT. The students living in the big size city were significantly larger than the students living in the middle and small. That is, over all, female students were more learning with ICT, male students were more interesting about ICT, and the students living in the big size city were more ICT use for learning. Based on the results, some strategies were suggested on the proper use of the factors of ICT in education.
