Accident Models of 4-Legged Signalized Intersections by Vehicle Type in the Case of Cheongju (4지 신호교차로 차종별 사고모형 -청주시를 사례로-)

  • This study deals with the accident models by vehicle type. The goal is to develop the accident models by vehicle type using the data of 143 4-legged signalized intersections in Cheongju. In pursuing the above, this study gives the particular attentions to explaining the relationships between the values of EPDO(equivalent property damage only) and the traffic and geometric elements. The main results analyzed are the followings. First, 6 negative binomial models are developed, which are all significant at the 90% confidence level. Second, the values of ${\rho}^2$ by vehicle type are 0.14307(auto), 0.35556(large van), 0.21684(small van), 0.205152(motocycle), 0.32338(light-duty truck) and 0.29046(heavy-duty truck), that are all analyzed to be statistically significant. Finally, the common variable included in all models is ADT(average daily traffic), and the specific variable(SV) of auto is analyzed to be the sum of lane width of main road, SV of large van is the average yellow time, and SV of small van is the difference in the number of lane between main and minor road.

  • This study deals with the side-swipe accidents of 4-legged signalized intersections in Cheongju. The objectives are to analyze the characteristics of the accidents and to develop the related models. In pursuing the above, this study gives particular emphasis to finding the appropriate methodology to modelling. The main results are as follows. First, injuries were analyzed to be twice than property-only accidents in the side-swipe accidents. The accidents were evaluated to occur more in inside-intersection. Also, the accidents were analyzed to be almost the auto-related accidents and to be occurred by the unsafely-driving activity. Second, multiple linear regression models were evaluated to be more statistically significant than multiple non-linear. The most fitted models were analyzed to be the models with the number of accidents as the dependent variable. The factors of side-swipe accidents analyzed in this study were ADT, area of intersection, right-turn-only-lane, number of pedestrian crossings, limited speed of main road, maximum grade and number of signal phase.

  • This study deals with the traffic accidents of elderly drivers. The objectives are to comparatively analyze the characteristics of accident between the elderly and other drivers, and to develop the models of traffic accidents. In pursuing the above, this paper gives particular attentions to testing the differences between the above two groups, and developing the models(Poisson and negative binomial regression) using the data of Cheongju 4-legged signalized intersections. The main results analyzed are as follows. First, the differences between the elderly and other drivers' accidents were clearly defined by the time of day, accident type, etc. Second, 3 accident models which were all statistically significant were developed. Finally, the differences between elderly and other drivers' models were comparatively analyzed using the common and specific variables.

Analysis of Rear-End Accidents at 4-legged Signalized Intersections in Cheongju (청주시 4지 신호교차로의 후미추돌사고 분석)

  • This study deals with the rear-end accidents of 4-legged signalized intersections in Cheongju. The objectives are to analyze the characteristics of the accidents and to develop the models which explain the relations among the accidents, traffic volumes and geometric structures. In pursuing the above, the study uses the data 308 rear-end accidents occurred at the 106 intersections (2004). The main results analyzed are as follows. First, the rear-end accidents were analyzed to be serious. because the ratio of severe accidents is 77.6%. Second, the more accidents were occurred of in the night than the daytime and in the approaching sections of intersections. In particular, the accidents of large-size struck vehicles were analyzed to be more serious. Finally, the multiple and Poission regression models developed in this study are all analyzed to be statistically significant.

  • The purpose of this study is to comparatively analyze the characteristics and models of traffic accidents by day and nighttime. Analysis on the Applicability of Roundabout to the Diamond Interchange (다이아몬드 입체교차점에서의 회전교차로 도입에 따른 운영효과 분석)

  • The purposes of the study is to comparatively analyze the applicability of roundabout to the diamond interchange. In pursuing the above, this study give the particular attentions to comparing the performances of roundabout with those of TWSC and signalized intersection based on the aaSIDRA software. The main study results are as follows. First, when the entering traffic volumes(ETV) are more than 480pcph, the single-lane roundabout is analyzed to be more effective than 4-leged unsignalized intersection and when ETV are $480{\sim}1,880pcph$, double-lane roundabout is analyzed to be more effective than 4-legged intersection Second, when ETV are more than 980pcph at the single-lane intersection and $1,600{\sim}3,680pcph$ at the double-lane intersection, roundabout is analyzed to be more effective than other 3-legged intersections. In summary, when the roundabout installs at the interchange, it is important to consider the range of ETV.

Impacts from the Wearing of a SPINE-GUARD on a Cross-Legged Sit on Variations of the Cobb's Angle, Lower Back Pain and Trunk Flexion Angle (양반 앉은 자세에서의 SPINE-GUARD 착용이 허리부위의 코브각 및 통증 그리고 몸통 굽힘각도의 변화에 미치는 영향)

  • When we keep sitting for a long time, we end up with pain due to changes in the curvature in the waist. This study examined impacts from the wearing of a SPINE-GUARD(belt for the waist stabilization) on a cross-legged sit on variations of the Cobb's angle, lower back pain and trunk flexion angle. 15 men for the examination have watched movies or attended lectures while wearing a belt for 90 minutes per round for every five rounds for two weeks. The Cobb's angle showed a significant decrease from $48.36{\pm}14.57$ before wearing to $28.09{\pm}11.63$ after wearing (p<0.05). Pain decreased from $4.53{\pm}2.36$ before wearing to $2.733{\pm}2.153$ after wearing (p<0.05). The trunk flexion angle also showed a significant decrease from $82.33{\pm}20.30$ before wearing to $70.2{\pm}19.43$ after wearing (p<0.05). Given these findings, the wearing of a SPINE-GUARD seems to affect variations of the Cobb's angle and trunk flexion angle, and decrease of lower back pain.

  • In this paper, the optimizing path finding control method is studied for a Legged-robot. It's named TITAN-VIII. It has a lot of advantages over the wheeled robot in the ability to walk freely on an irregular ground. However, the moving speed on the ground of the Legged-robot is slower than the Wheeled-robot's. Consequently, the purpose of the method is presented in this paper to minimize its time when it walks to a goal. It find the path, our approach is based on an algorithm which is called Dijkstra's algorithm. In the rest of paper, the various posture of the robot is discussed to keep the robot always in the statically stable. Based on above works, the math formulas are presented to determine the joint angles of the robot. After that an algorithm is designed to find and keep robot on the desired trajectory. Experimental results of the proposed method are demonstrated in the last of paper.

  • This work shows how to design a robot structure and to control to overcome obstacles while traveling through ducts of various diameters and shapes by three-legged robot. Circuits are centered in the body to connect the three wheel bodies that are driven around the center body with the 4-section slider link structure. Also, the springs are used to contract and expand the robot legs so that it can be caparable of various environments. Geared motor, spring, and belt were selected based on the static and dynamic calculation to be suitable to horizontal and vertical travels. The center body is equipped with a camera and the distance sensors, and a control algorithms are implemented so that it can be successfully performed in L-type and T-type ducts. Using UWB modules and trilateration algorithm, the location of the duct-cleaning robot inside the duct could be identified successfully.

  • 이상과 같이 소개한 KIST 휴먼 로봇의 4족 보행시스템을 개발하는 데에 있어서 최대 목표는 보행제어의 지능화를 통해서 외관상 유사한 히타치사의 극한작업 로봇과 차별화시키는 것이다. 이를 위해서는 성능이 급격히 향상되어가고 있는 최신의 컴퓨터와 센서들을 적극 활용하면서 국내외 관련 전문가들이 축적하고 있는 노우 하우들을 최대한 활용하는 것이 필요하고, 기술적 으로는 걸음새의 지능제어, 반사제어, 소비동력의 최소화 등을 집중적으로 해결하는 것이 요구 된다. 휴먼 로봇 보행기구의 연구 성과는 궁극적으로 계단 등과 같은 단순 장애물은 물론 얼마나 악조건의 험로 위 자율 보행이 가능하고, 평제에서는 얼마나 빠른 최대 보행속도를 발휘할 수 있으며, 로봇에 탑재된 축전지만으로 얼마나 먼거리를 보행할 수 있는 지에 의해 그 질적 수 준이 판가름 나게 될 것이다. 이러한 점에서 이 과제의 추진은 국내의 로봇 연구 분야에 있어서 전혀 새로운 매우 거대한 도전이라고 할 수 있다.
