This study was conducted to determine the amount of flavonoids in Salicomia herbacea L. grown by a liquid chromatography / mass spectrometry (LC/MS). The flavonoids-contained quercetin (124.43 ppm), rutin (2.57 ppm), quercetin-3-${\beta}$-glucoside (3992.49 ppm), quercetin-3',4'-glucoside (0.08 ppm) and isorhamnetin (27.81 ppm) were detected in the powder sample. In particular, quercetin-3-${\beta}$-glucoside accounted for more than 99% in hay and 96% in powder. These results suggest that S. herbacea, which is one of halophyte plants, has high functional substances as an antioxidant source.
Using the new scouring soap made from rapeseed oil, various scouring test was done souring effects of new scouring soap were estimated. In the effects of scouring soap on the degumming ratio, OS (the soap made from oleic acid) was the most excellent and the next was RS (the soap made from rapeseed oil). Both OS and RS were more excellent than MS (the soap on the market). In a buffer power of soap solution, OS and RS were good, but MS was poor. The uneven dyeing was not observed in the silk fabric degummed by OS and RS, but observed in silk fabric degummed by MS. The value of tenacity and elongation in the silk degummed by OS and RS was higher that degummed by MS. In the crease recovery, softness and whiteness, the order of value was OS, RS, MS.

Matrix Assisted Laser Desorption/Ionization-Time-of-Flight mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF-MS) is the most widely used MS technique for glycan analysis. However, the poor point-to-point and sample-to-sample reproducibility becomes a limit in glycan biomarker research. A prespotted MALDI plate which overcomes the large crystal formation of 2,5-dihydroxybenzoic acid (DHB) has been developed and applied for glycan analysis. A homogeneous matrix coated surface without a crystal structure was formed on a hydrophilic/ hydrophobic patterned surface using a piezoelectric device. The reproducible MALDI-TOF-MS data have been presented using MALDI imaging of beer glycan as well as serum glycan eluted from 10% and 20% ACN elution fractions. The glycan profile from the serum glycan by MALDI-TOF-MS with a DHB prespotted plate was highly conserved for 10 different spectra and the coefficient of variations of significant ion peaks of MALDI data varies from 3.59 to 19.95.

WAVE(Wireless Access for Vehicular Environment) System is a communication technology to monitor system failure and vehicle functions and management services to prevent possible incidents of driving a vehicle. In this paper, we have designed and implemented the mutual message processing through parameter between WME management module that manages WAVE system and MLME that manages the upper layer MAC(Media Access Control) module. Also, in order to verify the validity, we have carried out experiments to compare the speed of data processing by dividing data of 1Mbyte, 2Mbyte, 3Mbyte into the packets of 2KByte and 4KByte. Experiments data processing speed of 2KByte packet were shown about 173.62ms in 1MByte, 2MByte about 352.61ms, 3MByte about 550.13ms and, data processing speed of 4KByte packet, 1MByte approximately 87.56ms, 2MByte about 177.94ms, 3MByte about 277.18ms. Therefore, in WAVE system, the mutual messages processing through the parameters between WME and MLME module can be utilized in the various service of ITS(Intelligent Transportation Systems) depending on the speed of data processing.
A systematic isolation and characterization study for Cassia auriculata (CA) seeds resulted in identifying antidiabetic compounds 1,3,8-trihydroxyanthraquinone and quercetin, quercetin-3-O-rutinoside, gallic acid, caffeic acid, ferulic acid, and ellagic acid. The ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography based triple quadrupole mass spectrometry methodology was developed and validated for simultaneous identification and confirmation of these compounds from CA seeds. Multiple reaction monitoring (MRM) based quantification method was developed with MRM optimizer software for MS1 and MS2 mass analysis. The method was optimized on precursor ions and product ions with the ion ratio of each compound. The calibration curves of seven bioactive analytes showed excellent linearity (r2 ≥ 0.99). The quantitation results found precise (RSD, < 10 %) with good recoveries (84.58 to 101.42%). The matrix effect and extraction recoveries were found within the range (91.66 to 102.11%) for the CA seeds. This is the first MS/MS-based methodology applied to quantifying seven antidiabetic compounds in CA seeds and its extract for quality control purposes.

This study describes an analytical method based on LC-MS/MS for the quantitation of 5 fluoroquinolones (Enrofloxacin, Ciprofloxacin, Marbofloxacin, Norfloxacin and Danofloxacin) in meat, and was applied to 230 meat samples for validation. Quantitation was performed based on a matrix-matched calibration to compensate for the matrix effect on the electrospray ionization. Good linear calibrations (R2≥0.998) were obtained for all fluoroquinolones at 6 concentrations of 1~50 ㎍/kg. Satisfied recoveries of all fluoroquinolones were demonstrated in spiked meat at three levels from 10 to 50 ㎍/kg. The recoveries ranged between 75.8~99.2% in beef, 80.1~99.6% in pork and 72.2~99.8% in chicken, respectively. The limits of quantitation (LOQs) for fluoroquinolones ranged from 0.7 to 3.2 ㎍/kg. We also monitored fluoroquinolones residue in the sample (beef 107, pork 71, chicken 52) using LC-MS/MS. Residues of fluoroquinolones which exceeded maximum residue limits (MRL) were not exceed in any of the 230 samples.
Pancreatic cancer is one of the most fatal cancers with a poor prognosis. Standard chemotherapies have proven largely ineffective because of their toxicity and the development of resistance. Therefore, there is an urgent need to develop novel therapies. In this study, we investigated the antitumor activity of MS-5, a naphthalene derivative, on BxPC-3, a human pancreatic cancer cell line. We observed that MS-5 was cytotoxic to BxPC-3 cells, as well as inhibited the growth of cells in a concentration- and time- dependent manner. Flow cytometry analysis revealed that the percentage of annexin V-positive cells increased after MS-5 treatment. We also observed cleavage of caspases and poly (ADP-ribose) polymerase, and downregulation of Bcl-xL protein. Flow cytometry analysis of intracellular levels of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and mitochondrial superoxide suggested that MS-5 induced the generation of mitochondrial superoxide while lowering the overall intracellular ROS levels. Thus, MS-5 may be potential candidate for pancreatic cancer treatment.
A recent study of visual working memory(VWM) under a change detection paradigm proposed an idea that the comparison process of VWM representations against incoming perceptual inputs can be performed more rapidly than the process of forming durable memory representations into VWM. To test this hypothesis, we compared the size of interference effect caused by pattern-backward masks following after either the sample(sample-mask condition) or test items (test-mask condition). In Experiment 1, subjects performed a color change detection task for four colored-boxes, and pattern masks with mask-onset asynchronies(MSOA) of either 64ms or 150ms followed each item location either after the sample or after the test items. The change detection accuracy was both comparable in the sample-mask condition regardless of the MSOAs, whereas the accuracy in the trials with a MSOA of 150ms was substantially higher than the MSOA of 65ms in the test-masking condition. In Experiment 2, we manipulated setsizes to 1, 2, 3, 4 items and also MSOAs to 117ms, 234ms, 350ms, 484ms and compared the pattern of interference across a variety of setsize and MSOA conditions. The sample-mask condition yielded a pattern of masking interference which became more evident as the setsize increases and as the MSOA was shorter. However, this pattern of interference was less apparent in the test-mask condition. These results indicate that the comparison process between remembered items in VWM and perceptual inputs is less vulnerable to interference from pattern-backward masking than VWM consolidation is, and thus support for the recent idea that the comparison process in VWM can be performed very fast and accurately.
A simple and sensitive method for the determination of paroxetine in canine plasma was developed and validated by liquid-liquid extraction and liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-/MS/MS). Fluoxetine was used as an internal standard. Paroxetine and internal standard in plasma samples were extracted using TBME (tert-butyl methyl ether). A centrifuged upper layer was then evaporated and reconstituted with mobile phase of 50% acetonitrile adjusted to pH 3 by formic acid. The reconstituted samples were injected into a Capcell Pak UG120 ($2.0{\times}150mm$, $5{\mu}m$) column. Using MS/MS with SRM (selective reaction monitoring) mode, the transitions (precursor to product) monitored were m/z $330{\rightarrow}192$ for paroxetine, and m/z $310{\rightarrow}148$ for internal standard. Linear detection responses were obtained for paroxetine concentration range of 0.02~5 ng/mL. A correlation coefficient of linear regression ($R^2$) was 0.9993. Detection of paroxetine in canine plasma was accurate and precise, with limit of quantification at 0.02 ng/mL. The method has been successfully applied to pharmacokinetic study of paroxetine in healthy beagle dogs.

Twenty strains of penicillin(PC)-resistant Staphylococcus aureus ($MIC{\geqq}32U/ml$) were chosen randomly from recent isolates and submitted to the present experiment to see what effect the combined antibiotic action of moxalactam(MX) and fosfomycin(FM) would bring about on the cells, using MS-2 system. 1. The conventional agar dilution method and the rapid automatic MS-2 system were used in measuring the MICs of MX and FM against each strain and the comparison of the data obtained revealed no significant difference between the two methods in the titer and distribution of the MICs. 2. The automatic MS-2 system was, therefore, used alone in determining the combined growth inhibitory effect of MX and FM because of its more rapidness, and the obtained results were that most of the PC-resistant strains(16 out of 20, 80%) were synergistically inhibited by the two antibiotic combination while additive effect was observed in the remaining 4 strains(20%). 3. Thus, it is suggested that the growth of PC-resistant staphylococcal cells may be synergistically inhibited by MX and FM combination and the efficiency of two antibiotic action as well as MIC of single antibiotic may be more rapidly determined by the MS-2 system than by the conventional method.
