A development of the 3-dimensional stationary drift-diffusion equation solver (3차원 정상상태의 드리프트-확산 방정식의 해석 프로그램 개발)

  • The device simulator (BANDIS) which can analyze efficiently the electrical characteristics of the semiconductor devices under the three dimensional stationary conditions on the IBM PC was developed. Poisson, electon and hole continuity equations are discretized y te galerkin method using a tetrahedron as af finite element. The frontal solver which has exquisite data structures and advanced input/output functions is dused for the matrix solver which needs the highest cost in the three dimensional device simulation. The discretization method of the continuity equations used in BANDIS are compared with that of the scharfetter-gummel method used in the commercial three-dimensional device. To verify an accuracy and the efficiency of the discretization method, the simulation results of the PN junction diode and the BJT from BANDIS are compared with those of the commercial three-dimensiional device simulator such as DAVINCI. The maximum relative error within 2% and the average number of iterations needed for the convergence is decreased by more than 20%. The total simulation time of the BJT with 25542 nodes is decreased to about 60% compared with that of DAVINCI.

Design of Next-Generation Ship Simulator System Using Virtual Reality (가상현실을 이용한 차세대 선박 시뮬레이터의 시스템 설계)

  • The paper describes system design of next-generation Ship Simulator using Virtual Reality (VRSS), well known as human-computer interaction. VRSS system is required to have special condition that comprises multiple user participants such as captain, officer, pilot, and quartermaster. To cope with that condition, core technologies were explored and proposed multi-networking system with broker server. The evaluation of the proposed system was done with PC-based immersion-type VR device, constituted with HMD (Head Mounted Display), Head Tracking Sensor, Puck, Headphone, and Microphone. Using the VR device, assessment test was carried out in a virtual bridge with 3D objects, which are created by VRML (Virtual Reality Model Language) program. As results of tests, it is shown that the cybernetic 3D objects were act as if real things in a real ship's bridge. Therefore, interesting interaction with participants can be obtained in the system, Thus, we found that the proposed system architecture can be applicable to VRSS system construction.

  • As a futuristic construction model, building information model (BIM) based project management system (PMIS) and mobile BIM simulator apps have been showing visible sign. However, researches on the BIM based 3D simulator using mobile device are hard to find result from limitation of mobile device (slow speed at huge 3D file, display size, and etc.) and undefined standard of business processes. Therefore, this research aims at studying application of mobile BIM apps based on cloud computing. Total 8 BIM cloud apps were selected and analyzed in the 5 application feasibility characteristics (speed, view, inquiry, markup, and usability). This research would be essential phase to construct BIM based mobile project management system using cloud computing in the future.

  • In this paper, we propose the visual simulation system for virtual reality motion rider system. The visual simulation system can apply verity virtual reality system. This paper deals with programs on 3D automatic creation of terrain, road design, and a realtime rendering program for the virtual reality system. For the 3D automatic creation of terrain, DEM data and rectangular grid method are applied. We can make two different road object with the road design program. One of them includes road definition, and the other is obtained by using 'NURBS curve.' Visual simulation is consisted by additional modeling and real-time rendering. We can apply the programs made in this way to visual system of driving simulator.

  • 개인 레저용, 상업용형 소형 무인 항공체 (UAV, Unmanded Aerial Vehicle)가 급증하는 상황에서 지상의 장애물과 법 규제 등으로 인하여 좁은 공간에 높은 밀도로 비행할 것이 예상 된다. 본 논문에서는 이런 상황에서 다수의 UAV가 비행 시에 발생할 수 있는 상황을 테스트를 위하여 Nvidia社의 PhysX 물리 엔진을 사용한 Unity3D를 이용하여 시뮬레이터를 개발한 결과를 보인다. 실제 비행 전 시뮬레이션으로 UAV의 이동 및 충돌여부, 병목현상 등에 대한 정보를 취득할 수 있도록 개발 하였다.

  • We propose a new high speed and low power SOI inverter with dynamic threshold voltage that can operate with efficient body-bias control and free supply voltage. The performance of the proposed circuit is evaluated by both the BSIM3SOI circuit simulator and the ATLAS device simulator, and then compared with other reported SOI circuits. The proposed circuit is shown to have excellent characteristics. At the supply voltage of 1.5V, the proposed circuit operates 27% faster than the conventional SOI circuit with the same power dissipation.

  • 현대 정보기술의 지속적인 발전은 무인화 및 자율화를 기반으로 한 모의 환경의 급격한 패러다임의 변화를 야기했으며 이로 인해 실 운용을 대비한 새로운 개념의 전장 환경 시뮬레이션 기술과 장치가 요구되고 있다. 그러나 무인체계 개발은 타 개발과는 차별적으로 다양하고 복잡한 기능을 고려해야함과 동시에 검증 과정이 어렵다는 특징을 가진다. 이를 위해 본 논문에서는 무인체계 개발을 위한 효과적인 시뮬레이터 및 데이터 생성기를 개발한다. 다양한 실 운용을 통해 개발된 시뮬레이터 및 데이터 생성기가 효과적임을 보인다.

Implementation of the Variable Output Laser Diode Driver Synchronized with a Pulse Repetition Frequency Code (펄스 반복 주파수 코드에 동기된 출력 가변형 레이저 다이오드 드라이버 구현)

  • In this paper, we propose a simulator to evaluate the performance of the semi-active laser guidance or the quadrant photodetector and to simulate the laser power reflected from a target. The laser pulse repetition frequency was generated and synchronized with the laser pulse repetition(PRF) code. To evaluate the performances of the proposed methods, we implemented a prototype system and performed experiments. As a result, the generated high voltage was variable in the range of DC 3V to 340V and has the rate of change of 2000 V/s. PRF code can be generated within 50ms ∼ 100ms and the error is implemented within 0.3ns. The laser output is synchronized with the PRF code and has a dynamic range of 23.6dB.

Bounding Space Management for Real-time Visual Simulation of GK-DEVS (GK-DEVS의 실시간 시각 시뮬레이션을 위한 외곽공간의 관리)

  • This paper presents bounding space(BS) management for real-time visual simulation when using GK-DEVS models. Since GK-DEVS, extended from DEVS formalism, has information of 3D geometry and 3D hierarchical structure, we employs three types of bounding spaces: BS of its own shape, BS of its children GK-DEVS, and total BS. In addition to next-event scheduling functionality of previous GK-Simulator, its abstract simulation algorithms is extended to manage the three types of BSs so that BSs can be utilized in the rendering process of a renderer, so called GK-Renderer, We have implemented the method and evaluated it with an automated manufacturing system. In the case study, the proposed BSs management method showed about 2 times improvement in terms of rendering process speed.

  • This paper presents a development of simulation environment for validation of autonomous driving (AD) algorithm based on Robot Operating System (ROS). ROS is one of the commonly-used frameworks utilized to control autonomous vehicles. For the evaluation of AD algorithm, a 3D autonomous driving simulator has been developed based on LGSVL. Two additional sensors are implemented in the simulation vehicle. First, Lidar sensor is mounted on the ego vehicle for real-time driving environment perception. Second, GPS sensor is equipped to estimate ego vehicle's position. With the vehicle sensor configuration in the simulation, the AD algorithm can predict the local environment and determine control commands with motion planning. The simulation environment has been evaluated with lane changing and keeping scenarios. The simulation results show that the proposed 3D simulator can successfully imitate the operation of a real-world vehicle.
