A prototype computer program was developed which visualizes various kinds of geotechnical information using 3D object graphics techniques. The program integrates various kinds of geotechnical data such as surface geology map, boreholes data, geophysical data as well as man made subsurface structures. It also reads NGIS DXF map and generates digital elevation model from iso-elevation line layer of the DXF map. All the data are put into a 3D model as 3D objects. The created 3D model can be viewed and analysed in a interactive 3D way.

The free-stereo mosaics image without GPS/INS and ground control data can be generated by using relative orientation parameters on the 3D model coordinate system. Its origin is located in one reference frame image. A 3D coordinate calculated by conjugate points on the free-stereo mosaic images is represented on the 3D model coordinate system. For determining 3D coordinate on the 3D absolute coordinate system utilizing conjugate points on the free-stereo mosaic images, transformation methodology is required for transforming 3D model coordinate into 3D absolute coordinate. Generally, the 3D similarity transformation is used for transforming each other 3D coordinates. Error of 3D model coordinates used in the free-stereo mosaic images is non-linearly increased according to distance from 3D model coordinate and origin point. For this reason, 3D model coordinates used in the free-stereo mosaic images are difficult to transform into 3D absolute coordinates by using linear transformation. Therefore, methodology for transforming nonlinear 3D model coordinate into 3D absolute coordinate is needed. Also methodology for resampling the free-stereo mosaic image to the geo-stereo mosaic image is needed for overlapping digital map on absolute coordinate and stereo mosaic images. In this paper, we propose a 3D non-linear transformation for converting 3D model coordinate in the free-stereo mosaic image to 3D absolute coordinate, and a 2D non-linear transformation based on 3D non-linear transformation converting the free-stereo mosaic image to the geo-stereo mosaic image.

Purpose Surgery for separating craniopagus twins involves many critical issues owing to complex anatomical features. We demonstrate a 3D printed model and virtual reality (VR) technologies that could provide valuable benefits for surgical planning and simulation, which would improve the visualization and perception during craniopagus surgery. Material & Methods We printed a 3D model extracted from CT images of craniopagus patients using segmentation software developed in-house. Then, we imported the 3D model to create the VR environment using 3D simulation software (Unity, Unity Technologies, CA). We utilized the HTC Vive (HTC & Valve Corp) head-mount-display for the VR simulation. Results We obtained the 3D printed model of craniopagus patients and imported the model to a VR environment. Manipulating the model in VR was possible, and the 3D model in the VR environment enhanced the application of user-friendly 3D modeling in surgery for craniopagus twins. Conclusion The use of the 3D printed model and VR has helped understand complicated anatomical structures of craniopagus patients and has made communicating with other medical surgeons in the field much easier. Further, interacting with the 3D model is possible in VR, which enhances the understanding of the craniopagus surgery as well as the success rate of separation surgery while providing useful information on diagnosing and surgery planning.

Nowadays, it is convenient to use 3D modeling tools for general planning before construction. Normally, a 3D model is built with 3D CAD such as 3D Studio Max, Maya, etc. or simply with AutoCAD. All these software packages are effective in building 3D models but difficult to use, because many provided functions and tools require prior knowledge to build both 2D and 3D designs. Moreover, the traditional method of building 3D models is most time-consuming as experienced operators and manual input are required. Therefore, how to minimize the building time of 3D models and provide easy-to-use functions for users who are not familiar with 3D modeling becomes important. In this paper, the VisualLISP programming language is used to create a convenient tool for efficient generation of 3D components for the AutoCAD environment. This tool will be demonstrated with the generation of a 3D sluice, an artificial passage for water fitted with a valve or gate to stop or regulate water flow. With the tool, users only need to enter the parameters of a sluice in the edit box and the 3D model will be automatically generated in a few seconds. By changing parameters in the edit box and pressing the "OK" button, a new 3D sluice model will be generated in a short while.
PURPOSE. To evaluate the accuracy of a model made using the computer-aided design/computer-aided manufacture (CAD/CAM) milling method and 3D printing method and to confirm its applicability as a work model for dental prosthesis production. MATERIALS AND METHODS. First, a natural tooth model (ANA-4, Frasaco, Germany) was scanned using an oral scanner. The obtained scan data were then used as a CAD reference model (CRM), to produce a total of 10 models each, either using the milling method or the 3D printing method. The 20 models were then scanned using a desktop scanner and the CAD test model was formed. The accuracy of the two groups was compared using dedicated software to calculate the root mean square (RMS) value after superimposing CRM and CAD test model (CTM). RESULTS. The RMS value ($152{\pm}52{\mu}m$) of the model manufactured by the milling method was significantly higher than the RMS value ($52{\pm}9{\mu}m$) of the model produced by the 3D printing method. CONCLUSION. The accuracy of the 3D printing method is superior to that of the milling method, but at present, both methods are limited in their application as a work model for prosthesis manufacture.

For the reuse of the existing 3D block model of a ship, we analyze the hull modeling process using AVEVA Marine which is a representative CAD (Computer-Aided Design) system for the shipbuilding. In the AVEVA Marine environment where the design engineer makes 3D model on the 2D view that is so-called 2.5D, it cannot be possible to copy to reuse the block model just simply copying the 3D feature model itself like in the general mechanical CAD system or Smart Marine 3D which are on the basis of the 3D model representation. In this paper, we analyze the scheme file where the 3D model is defined in AVEVA Marine so that we develop the program for the block copy and the translation using this scheme file. It is significant that this program can be immediately available as a real-world application on the AVEVA Marine environment.

Because of most current cadastral systems maintain 2D geometric descriptions of parcels linked to administrative records, the system may not reflect current tendency to use space above and under the surface. The land has been used in multi-levels, e.g. constructions of multi-used complex buildings, subways and infrastructure above/under the ground. This cadastre situation of multilevel use of lands cannot be defined as cadastre objects (2D parcel-based) in the cadastre systems. This trend has requested a new system in which right to land is clearly and indisputably recorded because a right of ownership on a parcel relates to a space in 3D, not any more relates to 2D surface area. Therefore, this article proposes a 3D spatial data model to represent geometrical and topological data of 3D (property) situation on multilevel uses of lands in 3D cadastre systems, and a conceptual 3D cadastral model in Korea to design a conceptual schema for a 3D cadastre. Lastly, this paper presents the results of an experimental implementation of the 3D Cadastre to perform topological analyses based on 3D Network Data Model to identify spatial neighbors.

3D point cloud semantic segmentation is a computer vision task that involves dividing the point cloud into different objects and regions by predicting the class label of each point. Existing 3D semantic segmentation models have some limitations in performing sufficient fusion of multi-modal features while ensuring both characteristics of 2D visual features extracted from RGB images and 3D geometric features extracted from point cloud. Therefore, in this paper, we propose MMCA-Net, a novel 3D semantic segmentation model using 2D-3D multi-modal features. The proposed model effectively fuses two heterogeneous 2D visual features and 3D geometric features by using an intermediate fusion strategy and a multi-modal cross attention-based fusion operation. Also, the proposed model extracts context-rich 3D geometric features from input point cloud consisting of irregularly distributed points by adopting PTv2 as 3D geometric encoder. In this paper, we conducted both quantitative and qualitative experiments with the benchmark dataset, ScanNetv2 in order to analyze the performance of the proposed model. In terms of the metric mIoU, the proposed model showed a 9.2% performance improvement over the PTv2 model using only 3D geometric features, and a 12.12% performance improvement over the MVPNet model using 2D-3D multi-modal features. As a result, we proved the effectiveness and usefulness of the proposed model.

In this paper, the relationship among the 3-D surface topography parameters are studied. Several surface topography parameters that are important in tribology are calculated against various surface topography data. 3-D surface data with desired properties are generated by using the non-causal 2-D auto-regressive (AR) model. The non-causal 2-D AR model is a random 3-D surface topography model that can generate 3-D surface topography data with specified parameters.

This paper utilizing model picture of finished clothes in fashion design field various material (textile fabrics) doing Draping directly can invent new design, and do not produce direction sample or poetic theme width and confirm clothes work to simulation. Also, construct database about model and material image and embodied system that can confirm Mapping result by real time. And propose clothes simulation system to dress to 3D human body model of imagination because using several cloth pieces first by process to do so that can do simulation dressing abstracted poetic theme width to 3D model here. Proposed system creates 3D model who put clothes by physical simulation that do fetters to mass-spring model after read 3D human body model file and 2D foundation pattern file. System of this treatise examines collision between triangle that compose human body model for realistic simulation and triangle that compose clothes and achieved reaction processing. Because number of triangle to compose human body is very much, this collision examination and reaction processing need much times. To solve this problem, treatise that see could create realistic picture by method to diminish collision public prosecutor and reaction processing number, and could dress clothes to imagination human body model within water plant taking advantage of Octree space sharing techniques.
