Assessment and comparison of three different air quality indices in China

  • Air pollution index (API) is used in Mainland China and includes only $SO_2$, $NO_2$ and $PM_{10}$. In 2016, air quality index (AQI) replaced API. AQI contains three more air pollutants (CO, $O_3$ and $PM_{2.5}$). Both the indices emphasize on the effect of a single pollutant, whereas the contributions of all other pollutants are ignored. Therefore, in the present work, a novel air quality index (NAQI), which emphasizes on all air pollutants, has been introduced for the first time. The results showed that there were 19 d (5.2%) in API, 28 d (7.7%) in AQI and 183 d (50.1%) in NAQI when the indices were more than 100. In API, $PM_{10}$ and $SO_2$ were regarded as the primary pollutants, whereas all five air pollutants in AQI were regarded as primary. Furthermore, four air pollutants (other than the CO) in NAQI were regarded as primary pollutants. $PM_{10}$, as being the primary pollutant, contributed greatly in these air quality indices, and accounted for 51.2% (API), 37.0% (AQI) and 52.6% (NAQI). The results also showed that particulate matter pollution was significantly high in Luzhou, where stricter pollution control measures should be implemented.

  • 이 논문에서는 Graphics 시스템이 점차 광선추적법(Ray-tracing) 기반으로 전환되고 있는 점과, OpenGL, Direct3D 등의 3차원 그래픽스 API가 삼각형 메시를 주로 사용하는 점에서 착안하여 크로노스 그룹의 차세대 그래픽 표준인 Vulkan API를 이용하여 광선추적기를 개발하였다. 여기에 삼각형 메시를 적용하여 성능평가를 수행하였다.

  • The demand for map applications in both Web and mobile environments has been rapidly increased with the population of Web and smart phone usage. Web-based map applications are mostly developed on such environments as ArcGIS and MapServer and mobile map applications are developed on such API levels as Google Maps and Yahoo Maps. But many parts of map applications are still constructed by coding because these environments don't support high level of automation. Our MapAppGen that we have designed and implemented enhances the Web-based map application productivity by generating the map related modules that can be applied to the Drupal that is one of popular content management systems(CMS's). Comparing the applications that are constructed by the Drupal-supported GMap or NodeMap, the applications that are constructed by MapAppGen provide information on not only the interested geographical feature but also its related geographical features. MapAppGen uses Google Maps API and Drupal is a module-based system that supports the creation, composition and management of contents. We are now working on automatic generation of mobile map applications with MapAppGen.

OpenGL ES 2.0 Emulation on Desktop PCs (데스크탑 상에서의 OpenGL ES 2.0 에뮬레이션)

  • OpenGL ES(OpenGL for Embedded System) 2.0 is one of the most widely used 3D graphics API(application progrma interface) standard for smart phones and tablet PCs at this time. During programming with this API, they prefer desktop environment rather than the target mobile environment, which has relatively low computing power. Thus, we need to emulate the OpenGL ES 2.0 API on the desktop PCs, where only OpenGL API libraries are available. In this paper, we present technical difficulties and their solutions to emulate OpenGL ES 2.0 on desktop PCs. Our final implementation of OpenGL ES 2.0 emulation library works on desktop PCs and passed over more than 96% of the official CTS(conformance test suites) to prove the correctness of our implementation. Additionally, for the commercially available benchmark programs, our implementation shows equivalent execution speeds to the previous commercial OpenGL ES 2.0 implementations.

  • We have released five Java Application Programming Interface (API) packages for viewing three-dimensional structures of proteins from the Protein Data Bank. To this end, the user interface of an earlier version has been refactored in an object-oriented fashion, in which refactoring is the process of changing a software system to improve its internal structure, without altering the external behavior. Various GUI design and features have been provided conveniently thanks to the Model-View-Control (MVC) model, which is an architectural pattern used in software engineering.   • In this paper, an automated design and 3-D modeling system of an axial fan and a boss for cooling towers was developed. API and parametric design Provided by a commercial solid-modeler are engaged to automate modeling process. Design data of the boss are assumed to be given by a user with design experiences while the fan from the fan design program using three-dimensional flow analysis. An algorithm avoiding the interferences between fans and a boss is developed. The design data are registered on the database not only to remove duplicate design but also to transfer the data to ERP system.

  • In this study, an earth work design program which will improve the efficiency of earth work and enable to carry out the design using 3D Geospace-based earth work modelling in design stage was developed. Estimate of accurate earth work volume is achievable using 3D grid DEM, and based on this, a mass calculation chart was developed for movement of earth and equipment. In consideration for the resources for various construction equipments needed for civil engineering works, soil conversion and the passage is displayed. In addition, the result is restored in the form of open API-based KLM to make it possible for the users to identify the progress of the construction, thereby enhancing the intuitive understanding of three-dimensional visualization and making it easier to share the result of the analysis.

  • 인터넷의 빠른 발전과 하드웨어 속도의 향상에 의해 가상현실이 점차 일반 사용자에게도 가깝게 다가서고 있다. 인터넷 가상현실 언어의 표준인 VRML이 XML의 개발과 발전에 의해 차기 버전을 XML의 장점인 용이한 확장성을 수용하는 X3D라 명명하고 표준화를 진행 중이다. 강력한 Java 3D API와 플랫폼 독립적인 바이트코드의 장점을 살려 표준화 단계인 X3D를 별도의 브라우저 없이도 Java 애플릿을 이용하여 재생할 수 있도록 하고자 하며 또한 앞으로 개발될 X3D 저작도구의 결과물을 Java 3D로 변환하여 Java 3D로 변환하여 Java 3D에 의한 3차원 영상 제작을 손쉽게 구현할 수 있도록 한다. 이를 위한 방법으로 X3D를 Java 3D로 변환하는 번역기가 필요하다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 X3D-Java 3D 번역기의 구조를 설계하고 구현 방법을 제시하고자 한다. XML 파서를 이용하여 X3D를 파싱하고 그의 출력인 AST를 순회하면서 Java 3D 파일을 생성한다. X3D DTD와 Java 3D 클래스의 구조 정보를 독립된 자료로 처리하여 계속 변하게 될 두 언어의 변화에 유동적으로 대처하면서 구현 방법의 큰 변화없이 이용할 수 있게 설계하고자 한다.

  • National agencies and corporations are making a lot of efforts to educate mechanics from high school to university and enterprise training center to train as skilled mechanic. but the theoretical training using textbooks and the training using equipment not used in the field did not provide proper maintenance training. And education using special equipment or assuming dangerous situation was very dangerous, so we were carrying out education with video or photo. In recent, there have been a number of cases in which effective training simulations have been researched and developed in order to experience situations and solve problems safely through simulation from simple maintenance to special maintenance by combining VR and AR. This paper describes the comparative study of the existing APIs such as Danuri VR, DisTi Engine and Remote AR for general purpose AR/VR contents. We also proposed a AR/VR API based on Unity 3D Engine for AR/VR maintenance contents. The API can be used for maintenance contents developers efficiently.
