  • When the data from the artificial satellite is analyzed, recent years it is perceived to vegetation index using BRF(Bidirectional Reflectance Factor) of the observation target. To make the BRF models, it is important to measure the 3D structure of the observation target actually. In this study, it is proposed to the observation technique by using laser scanning data. Also, our team has been operating the radio controlled helicopter which can fly over the tall forest canopy and it can be equipped the measurement system.

  • In general, stereo images are widely used to remote sensing or photogrametric applications for the purpose of image understanding and feature extraction or cognition. However, the most cases of these stereo-based application deal with 2-D satellite images or the airborne photos so that its main targets are generation of small-scaled or large-scaled DEM(Digital Elevation Model) or DSM(Digital Surface Model), in the 2.5-D. Contrast to these previous approaches, the scope of this study is to investigate 3-D stereo processing and visualization of true geo-referenced 3-D features based on anaglyph technique, and the aim is at the prototype development for stereo visualization system of complex typed 3-D GIS features. As for complex typed 3-D features, the various kinds of urban landscape components are taken into account with their geometric characteristics and attributes. The main functions in this prototype are composed of 3-D feature authoring and modeling along with database schema, stereo matching, and volumetric visualization. Using these functions, several technical aspects for migration into actual 3-D GIS application are provided with experiment results. It is concluded that this result will contribute to more specialized and realistic applications by linking 3-D graphics with geo-spatial information.

  • The conventional microelectromechanical system (MEMS) process has been used to fabricate sensors with high costs and high-volume productions. Emerging 3D printing can utilize various materials and quickly fabricate a product using low-cost equipment rather than traditional manufacturing processes. 3D printing also can produce the sensor using various materials and design its sensing structure with freely optimized shapes. Hence, 3D printing is expected to be a new technology that can produce sensors on-site and respond to on-demand demand by combining it with open platform technology. Therefore, this paper reviews three standard 3D printing technologies, such as Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM), Direct Ink Writing (DIW), and Digital Light Processing (DLP), which can apply to the sensor fabrication process. The review focuses on strain/load sensors having both sensing material features and structural features as well. NCPC (Nano Carbon Piezoresistive Composite) is also introduced as a promising 3D material due to its favorable sensing characteristics.

  • The purpose of this study is a potentiality examination of an infrared camera system for the 3D navigator which can be used in the field of neurosurgery. Nowadays, CAS(computer aided surgery) technique using 3D navigator is rapidly spread into the neurosurgeric operation such as brain and spine surgery. Several techniques which can detect 3D position of a probe have been proposed. These include mechnical arm, magnetic field, optical and ultrasonic sensing methods. In this study, we decided that using optical sensing method and tested a conventional CCD camera with a infrared filter and LEDs. Pulnix TM-300 camra has sufficient spectral response in the range of near infrared. Acquired image of infrared LEDs also sufficient quality.

Silence Reporting for Cooperative Sensing in Cognitive Radio Networks

  • A cooperative spectrum sensing has been proposed to improve the sensing performance in cognitive radio (CR) network. However, cooperative sensing causes additional overhead for reporting the result of local sensing to the fusion center. In this paper, we propose a technique to reduce the overhead of data transmission of cooperative sensing for applying the quantum data fusion technique in cognitive radio networks by omitting the lowest quantized in the local sensed results. If a CR node senses the lowest quantized level, it will not send its local sensing data in the corresponding sensing period. The fusion center can implcitly know that a spectific CR node sensed lowest level if there is no report from that CR node. The goal of proposed sensing policy is to reduce the overhead of quantized data fusion scheme for cooperative sensing. Also, our scheme can be adapted to all quantized data fusion schemes because it only deal with the form of the quantized data report. The experimental results show that the proposed scheme improves performance in terms of reporting overhead.

공간 스케일러블 Kronecker 정지영상 압축 센싱 (Spatially Scalable Kronecker Compressive Sensing of Still Images)

  • 압축센싱 기술이 직면하고 있는 두 가지의 도전과제는 복원 알고리즘의 연산 복잡도 개선과 부호화 효율 향상 문제이다. 이에 대한 해결방안으로, 본 논문은 최대 3 가지의 공간 해상도 조절 및 향상된 압축센싱 부호화 성능을 가능하게 하는 공간 스케일러블 Kronecker 압축센싱 구조를 제안한다. 제안 방법의 기저 계층(base layer)에서는 quincunx 샘플링 격자에 기반 하는 듀얼-해상도 센싱 행렬을 사용한다. 해당 센싱 행렬은 낮은 해상도의 영상에 대한 고속-프리뷰(preview) 기능을 가능케 한다. 향상 계층(enhancement layer)에서는 획득한 측정값과 예측 측정값 간의 잔차 측정값을 부호화 한다. 복원과정에서는 기저 계층으로부터 낮은 해상도의 복원 영상을 획득 할 수 있는 반면, 두 개의 계층을 모두 사용하여 복원하는 경우 높은 해상도의 영상을 획득할 수 있다. 실험 결과, 제안하는 구조가 종래의 단일 계층방법 및 다중-해상도 기반 구조에 비해, 2.0bpp일 때 PSNR 성능이 각각 5.75dB 및 5.05dB 더 향상됨을 확인하였다.

마이크로 가공 기술을 이용한 강유전체 박막 초전형 적외선 센서 (Pyroelectric infrared microsensors made by micromachining technology)

  • Pyoelectric infrared detectors based on La-modified PbTiO3 (PLT) thin films have been fabricated by RF magnetron sputtering and micromachining technology. The detectors form Pb$_{1-x}$ La$_{x}$Ti$_{1-x}$ O$_{3}$ (x=0.05) thin film ferroelectric capacitors epitaxially grown by RF magnetron sputtering on Pt/MgO (100) substrate. The sputtered PLT thin film exhibits highly c-axis oriented crystal struture that no poling trealization for sensing applications is required. This is an essential factor to increase the yield for realization of an infrared image sensor. Micromachining technology is used to lower the thermal mass of the detector by giving maximum sensor efficiency. Polyimide is coated on top of the sensing elements to support the fragile structure and the backside of the MgO substrate is selectively eteched to reduce the heat loss. The sensing element exhibited a very high detectivity D* of 8.5*10$^{8}$ cm..root.Hz/W at room temperature and it is about 100 times higher than the case of micromachining technology is not used. a sensing system that detects the position as well as the existence of a human body is realized using the array sensor.sor.

Synthesis of Au Nanoparticles Functionalized 1D α-MoO3 Nanobelts and Their Gas Sensing Properties

  • A novel sensor material of Au nanoparticles (NPs) functionalized 1D ${\alpha}-MoO_3$ nanobelts (NBs) was fabricated by a facile lysine-assisted approach. The obtained $Au/{\alpha}-MoO_3$ product was characterized by means of X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscope (SEM), transmission electron microscope (TEM) and energy dispersive X-ray (EDX), and X-ray photoelectron spectra (XPS). Then, in order to investigate the gas sensing performances of our samples, a comparative gas sensing study was carried out on both the ${\alpha}-MoO_3$ NBs before and after Au NPs decoration by using ethanol vapor as the molecular probe. The results turned out that, after the functionalization of Au NPs, the sensor exhibited improved gas-sensing characteristics than the pure ${\alpha}-MoO_3$, such as response and recovery time, optimal operating temperature (OT) and excellent selectivity. Take for example 200 ppm of ethanol, the response/recovery times were 34 s/43 s and 5.7 s/10.5 s, respectively, while the optimal operating temperature (OT) was lower to $200^{\circ}C$ rather than $250^{\circ}C$. Besides, the functionalized sensor showed a higher response to ethanol at $200^{\circ}C$, and response was 1.6 times higher than the pure $MoO_3$. The mechanism of such improved sensing properties was interpreted, which might be attributed to the spillover effect of Au NPs and the electronic metal-support interaction.

An Analysis of Combining Methods in Cooperative Spectrum Sensing over Rayleigh Fading Channel

  • This paper evaluates the performance of two methods of spectrum sensing: the linear combining method and the selection combining method which is based on maximum SNR of sensing channel. We proposed a rule for global detection for the purpose of combating hidden terminal problems in spectrum sensing. Our analysis considers a situation when sensing channels experience the non-identically, independently distributed(n.i.d) Rayleigh fading. The average probabilities of global detection in these methods are derived and compared. In the scope of this paper, the reporting channels are assumed to be the AWGN channel with invariant and identical gain during the system's operation.

3D Modeling of Building Sides from the Stereo Images for the Realistic Virtual City in 3D GIS

  • Remote sensing (RS) data show the surfaces of the earth only but cannot provide the shape data of building sides. The proposed method recovers a 3D shape of building sides from stereo images. Its result shows a higher possibility for recovering a large shaped object by overcoming the difficulties of traditional stereo matching techniques. The urban area will be visualized more realistically than the current model based on graphic and vector data.
