  • The depth information in the face represents personal features in detail. In particular, the surface curvatures extracted from the face contain the most important personal facial information. This surface curvature and together with grouped projection vector which reduces the dimensions resulting less computations are collaborated into the proposed 3D face recognition algorithm. The maximum and minimum curvature are calculated from the surface curvature image, which are grouped into projected vectors for recognition. The minimum curvature showed the best recognition rate among the surface parameters.

  • In this paper, the surface settlement resulted from the shallow TBM tunnelling has been numerically simulated. TBM tunnelling is especially used in urban area to avoid serious vibration and noise caused by explosion in NATM. Surface settlement is one of the most important problems encountered in all tunnelling and critical in urban areas. In this study, face vibration of TBM excavation is considered to estimate surface settlement trend according to TBM extrusion. The dynamic excavation forces are calculated by total torque on the TBM cutterhead in mixed-face of soil and weathered rock condition with shallow depth. A 3-dimensional FDM code is employed to simulate TBM tunnelling and mechanical-dynamic coupling analysis is performed. The 3D numerical analysis results showed that dynamic settlement histories and trend of surface settlement successfully. The maximum settlement occurred at the excavation point located at 2.5D behind the face, and the effect of face vibration on the surface settlement was verified in this study.

  • In this paper, a new practical implementation of a person verification system using features of longitudinal section and transection and other facial, rotation compensated 3D face image, is proposed. The approach works by finding the nose tip that has a protrusion shape on the face. In feature recognition of 3D face image, one has to take into consideration the orientated frontal posture to normalize. Next, the special points in regions, such as nose, eyes and mouth are detected. The depth of nose, the area of nose and the volume of nose based both on the 3 longitudinal section and a transection are calculated. The eye interval and mouth width are also computed. Finally, the 12 features on the face were extracted. The Ll measure for comparing two feature vectors were used, because it is simple and robust. In the experimental results, proposed method achieves recognition rate of 95.5% for the longitudinal section and transection.

  • This paper presents a novel methodology for face stability assessment of rock tunnels under water table by combining the kinematical approach of limit analysis and numerical simulation. The tunnels considered in this paper are excavated in fractured rock masses characterized by the Hoek-Brown failure criterion. In terms of natural rock deposition, a more convincing case of depth-dependent mi, GSI, D and ${\sigma}_c$ is taken into account by proposing the horizontally layered discretization technique, which enables us to generate the failure surface of tunnel face point by point. The vertical distance between any two adjacent points is fixed, which is beneficial to deal with stability problems involving depth-dependent rock parameters. The pore water pressure is numerically computed by means of 3D steady-state flow analyses. Accordingly, the pore water pressure for each discretized point on the failure surface is obtained by interpolation. The parametric analysis is performed to show the influence of depth-dependent parameters of $m_i$, GSI, D, ${\sigma}_c$ and the variation of water table elevation on tunnel face stability. Finally, several design charts for an undisturbed tunnel are presented for quick calculations of critical support pressures against face failure.

  • With the development of digital graphics technology, the metaverse has become a significant trend in the content market. The demand for technology that generates high-quality 3D (dimension) models is rapidly increasing. Accordingly, various technical attempts are being made to create high-quality 3D virtual humans represented by digital humans. 3D volumetric capture is spotlighted as a technology that can create a 3D manikin faster and more precisely than the existing 3D model creation method. In this study, we try to analyze 3D high-precision facial production technology based on practical cases of the difficulties in content production and technologies applied in volumetric 3D and 4D model creation. Based on the actual model implementation case through 3D volumetric capture, we considered techniques for 3D virtual human face production and producted a new metahuman using a graphics pipeline for an efficient human facial generation.

  • 1. Objectives The Face is an important standard for the classification of Sasang Contitutions. We are developing 3D Face Automatic Recognition Apparatus to analyse the facial characteristics. So We should examine a shape demobilization error of 3D Face Automatic Recognition Apparatus. 2. Methods We compared facial shape data be demobilized by 3D Face Automatic Recognition Apparatus with facial shape data that be demobilized by 3D laser scanner. The subject was two korean men. And We analysed the average error and the maximum error of two data. In this process, We used one datum point(the peak of nose) and two datum line(vertical section and horizontal section). 3. Results and Conclusions In each this comparison, the average error of vertical section was 1.962574mm and 2.703814mm. and the maximum error of vertical section was 16.968249mm and 18.61464mm. the average error of horizontal section was 4.173203mm and 21.487479mm. and the maximum error of horizontal section was 3.571210mm and 17.13255mm. Also We complemented this apparatus a little and We reexamined a shape demobilization error of 3D Face Automatic Recognition Apparatus again. Accuracy of a shape demobilization was improved a little. From now on We complement accuracy of a shape demobilization in 3D Face Recognition Apparatus.

  • This paper presents a novel approach for facial motion tracking and facial expression cloning to create a realistic facial animation of a 3D avatar. The exact head pose estimation and facial expression tracking are critical issues that must be solved when developing vision-based computer animation. In this paper, we deal with these two problems. The proposed approach consists of two phases: dynamic head pose estimation and facial expression cloning. The dynamic head pose estimation can robustly estimate a 3D head pose from input video images. Given an initial reference template of a face image and the corresponding 3D head pose, the full head motion is recovered by projecting a cylindrical head model onto the face image. It is possible to recover the head pose regardless of light variations and self-occlusion by updating the template dynamically. In the phase of synthesizing the facial expression, the variations of the major facial feature points of the face images are tracked by using optical flow and the variations are retargeted to the 3D face model. At the same time, we exploit the RBF (Radial Basis Function) to deform the local area of the face model around the major feature points. Consequently, facial expression synthesis is done by directly tracking the variations of the major feature points and indirectly estimating the variations of the regional feature points. From the experiments, we can prove that the proposed vision-based facial expression cloning method automatically estimates the 3D head pose and produces realistic 3D facial expressions in real time.

  • Recently, research and developmental direction of communication system is concurrent adopting voice data and face image in speaking to provide more higher recognition rate then in the case of only voice data. Therefore, we present a method of lipreading in speech image sequence by using the 3-D facial shape model. The method use a feature information of the face image such as the opening-level of lip, the movement of jaw, and the projection height of lip. At first, we adjust the 3-D face model to speeching face Image sequence. Then, to get a feature information we compute variance quantity from adjusted 3-D shape model of image sequence and use the variance quality of the adjusted 3-D model as recognition parameters. We use the intensity inclination values which obtaining from the variance in 3-D feature points as the separation of recognition units from the sequential image. After then, we use discrete HMM algorithm at recognition process, depending on multiple observation sequence which considers the variance of 3-D feature point fully. As a result of recognition experiment with the 8 Korean vowels and 2 Korean consonants, we have about 80% of recognition rate for the plosives md vowels.
