In this paper we focus on the Personal Space (PS) as a nonverbal communication concept to build a new Human Computer Interaction. The analysis of people positions with respect to their PS gives an idea on the nature of their relationship. We propose to analyze and model the PS using Computer Vision (CV), and visualize it using Computer Graphics. For this purpose, we define the PS based on four parameters: distance between people, their face orientations, age, and gender. We automatically estimate the first two parameters from image sequences using CV technology, while the two other parameters are set manually. Finally, we calculate the two-dimensional relationship of multiple persons and visualize it as 3D contours in real-time. Our method can sense and visualize invisible and unconscious PS distributions and convey the spatial relationship of users by an intuitive visual representation. The results of this paper can be used to Human Computer Interaction in public spaces.
This study focus on the suggestion of standard legend, the process system on making method of deterioration map, the development of crack index (CI), and the evaluation techniques of surface and 3D deterioration rate for stone cultural heritage. The standard legends of deterioration forms were made using a common graphic program after crack, blistering, scaling, break-out, granular disintegration, and perforation were subdivided. The deterioration map improved accuracy and reliability on deterioration range using 3D digital restoration and high resolution photograph mapping technique. Also, quantitative deterioration evaluation of stone cultural heritage was carried out developing the crack index, and the 3D deterioration rate of a break-out part was calculated by virtual restoration modeling. As a quantitative deterioration evaluation of Magoksa Temple stone pagoda based on the results described above, the north face showed high deterioration rate of bursting crack (1.70), hair crack (1.34), scaling (20.2%) and break out (13.0%), and the 3D deterioration rate of first roof stone was 6.7%.
This is the second of two papers on the 3D numerical modeling of nearshore hydro- and morphodynamics. In Part I, the focus was on surf and swash zone hydrodynamics in the cross-shore and longshore directions. Here, we consider nearshore processes with an emphasis on the effects of oceanic forcing and beach characteristics on sediment transport in the cross- and longshore directions, as well as on foreshore bathymetry changes. The Delft3D and XBeach models were used with four turbulence closures (viz., ${\kappa}-{\varepsilon}$, ${\kappa}-L$, ATM and H-LES) to solve the 3D Navier-Stokes equations for incompressible flow as well as the beach morphology. The sediment transport module simulates both bed load and suspended load transport of non-cohesive sediments. Twenty sets of numerical experiments combining nine control parameters under a range of bed characteristics and incident wave and tidal conditions were simulated. For each case, the general morphological response in shore-normal and shore-parallel directions was presented. Numerical results showed that the ${\kappa}-{\varepsilon}$ and H-LES closure models yield similar results that are in better agreement with existing morphodynamic observations than the results of the other turbulence models. The simulations showed that wave forcing drives a sediment circulation pattern that results in bar and berm formation. However, together with wave forcing, tides modulate the predicted nearshore sediment dynamics. The combination of tides and wave action has a notable effect on longshore suspended sediment transport fluxes, relative to wave action alone. The model's ability to predict sediment transport under propagation of obliquely incident wave conditions underscores its potential for understanding the evolution of beach morphology at field scale. For example, the results of the model confirmed that the wave characteristics have a considerable effect on the cumulative erosion/deposition, cross-shore distribution of longshore sediment transport and transport rate across and along the beach face. In addition, for the same type of oceanic forcing, the beach morphology exhibits different erosive characteristics depending on grain size (e.g., foreshore profile evolution is erosive or accretive on fine or coarse sand beaches, respectively). Decreasing wave height increases the proportion of onshore to offshore fluxes, almost reaching a neutral net balance. The sediment movement increases with wave height, which is the dominant factor controlling the beach face shape.

This paper is to provide an integration approach between design and process planning for mechanical parts, using feature recognition. We develop a method to extract each individual feature of an object from 3D modeling data using face-edge graph based algorithm and then propose an approach to recognize the volumic form features using heuristic rules. we demonstrate the proposed approaches are effective for such basic shapes as pocket, slot, through hole, etc.
Recently, the adoption of BIM technology in domestic civil engineering projects has continually increased both in its numbers and scope. However, the BIM model was developed and used after the 2D design was developed instead of creating the BIM model from the conceptual design phase. BIM must be used throughout every phase of design and construction to use BIM for its original purpose. However, if BIM application is applied in heavy civil projects without a step-by-step guideline, it can confuse the market and face industry resistance to using BIM. Therefore, BIM is currently being used step by step in the civil engineering field by using BIM as a conversion design. However, the BIM conversion design method, currently being performed in the Preliminary design stage, has many difficulties due to low work efficiency. This paper analyzes the existing process of converting a 2D design into a 3D BIM model while addressing the issues related to its low work efficiency. To this end, a novel approach to 2D to BIM conversion for the design development stage is proposed.
The purpose of this study was to present a educational content developed for training of dental extraction skill in a virtual environment. The development of the content consists of five steps: learning content analysis, draw a design model, development, test of validity, rectification and complete of the content. We developed the virtual reality (VR) simulator with producing an animation of surgical stages on the 3D models of human face for simulating dental extraction procedure. The results of validity tests for the content were mean 4.81 (SD, 0.72) for interface validity and mean 4.66 (SD, 0.71) for content validity, which represents strong evidence for the validity of the content. The data of the study indicates that the educational content developed for training of dental extraction skill using VR technology can be suitable to improve surgical skill of dental extraction in clinical field. We expect that further development of the education contents based on the VR technology to improve various surgical skills in clinical field will be addressed in the future.

The increasing demand in industry to produce rectangular cans at the reduction by the rectangular backward extrusion process involves better understanding of this process. In 2-D die deflection and dimensional variation of the component during extrusion, punch retraction, component injection and cooling was conducted using a coupled thermal-mechanical approach for the forward extrusion of aluminum alloy and low-carbon steel in tools of steel. Backward extrusion FE simulation and experimental simulation by physical modeling using wax as a model material have been performed. These simulations gave good results concerning the prediction of th flow modes and the corresponding surface expansions of the material occuring at the contact surface between the can and the punch. There prediction are the limits of the can height, depending on the reduction, the punch geometry, the workpiece material and the friction factor, in order to avoid the risk of damage caused by sticking of the workpiece material to the punch face. The influence of these different parameter on the distribution of the surface expansion along the inner can wall and bottom is already determined. This paper deals with the influence of the geometry changes of the forming tool and the work material in the rectangular backward using the 3-D finite element method.

The purpose of this study is to summarize the changes in virtual reality utilization in model houses through the time-by-year example of model houses and to study the use and future development of virtual reality technologies in model houses. As a result of compiling and analyzing characteristics of virtual reality utilization flow in model houses of apartments, it is as follows. First, the market for apartment model houses using virtual reality was gradually expanded for the purpose of brand promotion by private construction companies. Second, technologies that utilize virtual reality in apartment sales are changing from virtual space construction to virtual content implementation. Third, it is changing from the existing method of face-to-face and method of accessing actual promotional media to the form of publicizing apartments using virtual reality. Through this research, it is estimated that it will be used as an information medium and a form of experience using physical environment and virtual reality in a physical model house for consumers looking for model houses. This study presents the future direction of the model house, and develops it as a post-sale maintenance / management system through ICT technology (3D scanning, 3D modeling, virtual content) Further research on the technology is expected to be needed.

In this study, protective masks were designed in varying internal volume and analyzed in regards to wearing effect. Masks were measured by surface temperature and subjective wear evaluation. Four experimental masks were created with an increasing distance between the mask center line and nose in increments. The distances were set at 0.0 cm (M0), 2.0 cm (M2), 4.0 cm (M4), and 6.0 cm (M6). The area and volume of each experimental mask was measured and both measurements had a positive correlation with the set distances. Among the experimental masks, M2 was the most breathable. The heat between the face and the mask created by exhalation was able to escape from the mask and provided the highest comfort sensation when worn. Conversely, an internal volume that is too large would decrease its comfort because repetitive breathing deforms the appearance of the mask and adversely affects its fit. Therefore, creating and maintaining the optimal internal volume of the M2 mask is important to achieve maximum thermal sensation and ease of wear.
