  • In this paper, we propose 3D cloud animation by cloud modeling method of 2D images retrieved from a meteorological satellite. First, on the satellite images, we locate numerous control points to perform thin-plate spline warping analysis between consecutive frames for the modeling of cloud motion. In addition, the spectrum channels of visible and infrared wavelengths are used to determine the amount and altitude of clouds for 3D cloud image reconstruction. Pre-integrated volume rendering method is used to achieve seamless inter-laminar shades in real-time using small number of slices of the volume data. The proposed method could successfully construct continuously moving 3D clouds from 2D satellite images at an acceptable speed and image quality.

  • Recently, Building Information Modeling(BIM) has become a hot topic in the construction industry such as quantity calculation, interference check, process management, and construction cost management. It is also trying to convert the existing 2D design to 3D design and introduce the BIM in various fields, thus, many new deliverable are being presented but there are many issues due to the lack of standard guides on the preparation and delivery criteria for such new deliverable and how to utilize performance data. Therefore, In order to develop the electronic delivery process, we analyzed the process related to the delivery of BIM digital models presented in domestic and international BIM guidelines and the delivery of products from the Korea National Railway. The analysis focused on the list of achievements, delivery process, quality review standards, and the utilization code system of the Korea National Railway through BIM guidelines and the National Railroad Service's business procedures. Based on these analysis results, it presents a plan to construct an functional module of electronic delivery.

  • Recently, the patent rights for 3D printing technology have expired, while 3D printers with RP (Rapid Prototyping or Additive Manufacturing) and 3D printing technologies are receiving attention. In particular, the development of 3D printers is rapid in Korea, thanks to the increasing sales and popularity of FDM (Fused Deposition Modeling or Fused Filament Fabrication) 3D printers. However, the quality and productivity of the FDM 3D Printer are not good, so customers prefer the DLP (Digital Light Processing) method to avoid these shortcomings. The DLP method has high quality and productivity. However, because of the stereolithography equipment, it has few studies compared to optimal values for elements then FDM 3D printing study. In this study, to find the optimal conditions for 3D printing with the DLP method, the aim is to obtain the optimal values (strength, final time, quality) by changing the light exposure time, layer thickness, and z-axis speed.

  • In this paper, we present a new, easy-to-generate system that is capable of creating virtual 3D tree models and simulating a variety of growth processes of a tree from a single, real tree image. We not only construct various tree models with the same trunk through our proposed digital image matting method and skeleton-based abstraction of branches, but we also animate the visual growth of the constructed 3D tree model through usage of the branch age information combined with a scaling factor. To control the simulation of a tree growth process, we consider tree-growing attributes, such as branching orders, branch width, tree size, and branch self-bending effect, at the same time. Other invisible branches and leaves are automatically attached to the tree by employing parametric branch libraries under the conventional procedural assumption of structure having a local self-similarity. Simulations with a real image confirm that our system makes it possible to achieve realistic tree models and growth processes with ease.

  • Drone photogrammetry generally acquires images vertically or obliquely from above, so when photographing for the purpose of three-dimensional modeling, image matching for the ground of a building and spatial accuracy of point cloud data are poor, resulting in poor 3D mesh completeness. Therefore, to overcome this, this study analyzed the spatial accuracy of each drone image by acquiring smartphone images from the ground, and evaluated the accuracy improvement and completeness of 3D mesh when the smartphone image is not combined with the drone image. As a result of the study, the horizontal (x,y) accuracy of drone photogrammetry was about 1/200,000, similar to that of traditional photogrammetry. In addition, it was analyzed that the accuracy according to the photographing method was more affected by the photographing angle of the object than the increase in the number of photos. In the case of the smartphone image combination, the accuracy was not significantly affected, but the completeness of the 3D mesh was able to obtain a 3D mesh of about LoD3 that satisfies the digital twin city standard. Therefore, it is judged that it can be sufficiently used to build a 3D model for digital twin city by combining drone images and smartphones or DSLR images taken on the ground.

  • As a key infrastructure for digital transformation, the spread of data, network, artificial intelligence (D.N.A.) fields and the emergence of promising industries are laying the groundwork for active digital innovation throughout the economy. In this study, by applying the text mining methodology, major topics were derived by using the abstract, publication year, and research field of the study corresponding to the SCIE, SSCI, and A&HCI indexes of the WoS database as input variables. First, main keywords were identified through TF and TF-IDF analysis based on word appearance frequency, and then topic modeling was performed using g-DMR. With the advantage of the topic model that can utilize various types of variables as meta information, it was possible to properly explore the meaning beyond simply deriving a topic. According to the analysis results, topics such as business intelligence, manufacturing production systems, service value creation, telemedicine, and digital education were identified as major research topics in digital transformation. To summarize the results of topic modeling, 1) research on business intelligence has been actively conducted in all areas after COVID-19, and 2) issues such as intelligent manufacturing solutions and metaverses have emerged in the manufacturing field. It has been confirmed that the topic of production systems is receiving attention once again. Finally, 3) Although the topic itself can be viewed separately in terms of technology and service, it was found that it is undesirable to interpret it separately because a number of studies comprehensively deal with various services applied by combining the relevant technologies.
