  • Recently, in computer graphics, researches on 3D animations have been very active. One of the important research areas in 3D animation is animation of human being. Implicit surface model is convient for modeling objects composed of complicated surface such as 3D characters and liquids. Moreover, it can represent various forms of surfaces using a relatively small amount of data. In this paper, we propose a method of facial model generation using Implicit Primitive.

  • 대중에게 하나의 취미 생활로 자리매김한 게임은 특징이나 작동 방법에 따라 다양한 장르로 발전되었다. 그 중 액션게임 장르는 사용자가 조작하는 캐릭터의 역동적인 움직임과 움직임이 큰 동작으로 인해 사용자로 하여금 게임 플레이에 몰입할 수 있는 특징을 가지고 있다. 과거 2D 환경의 게임에서 연속되는 그림으로 표현되던 캐릭터의 애니메이션 장면은 3D 환경으로 발전하면서 새로운 애니메이션 기법을 필요로 하였으며, 현재 다양한 애니메이션 기법이 연구되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 3D 뼈대 애니메이션 통하여 DirectX에서의 캐릭터 애니메이션 적용 대해 설명한다.

  • This paper presents a new method for representing complex power system phenomena using 3-D computer graphics animation. The proposed method was tested on both the generator dynamics phenomena and subsynchronous resonance phenomena. It is anticipated that the proposed method would be helpful for the operator training as well as power system education.

  • This study is based on theoretical background about movements of visual communication highlighted in digital age. Such movements are variously expressed in animation with the advancement of media, and their expression has great effect on visual art. Artists' concern and endeavor about movement expression techniques have been continued by impressionism, expressionism, futurism, cubism closely related with the birth of movie from late 19th century to early 20th century. At that time, stationary 2D space in plane screen couldn't express movement or time directly. Later, artists and designers have attempted to approach illusions in pictures or 4 dimension and movements by 2D or 3D computer graphics. The visual image in present digital age is to see, to hear, to feel by timing, so it is necessary for the most efficient way of message communication. And then, it is the time to start new, scientific, and creative study about production techniques of animation and expression of movements, since domestic animation productions are rapidly changed from cell to digital. The aim of this study is to clarify the motive of movement by theoretical inquiry of animation. Various aspects of animation as synthetic art have been examined by mathematical, scientific, and philosophical viewpoint. The results will be useful to the expression of motions for maximization of emotional effect in animation production or basic data of virtual simulation about certain situation. Therefore, such study should be managed as multidisciplinary research in the rapidly changing visual culture paradigm. namely, animation includes much more imaginative & creative power than simple function or techniques, so it has to be recognized as special synthetic art(visual art) constructing an area, the formative art with philosophical viewpoint and scientific principles.

  • As the first, about symbol and metaphor of visual culture animation, I research what is the de-centered reading focused on relationship between the semiotics text and the audience. Secondly, I will study about an animation text and their relationship within it's metaphor, animation work's analysis and art directed intension(and process) on aesthetic view as a visual representation.

  • In this paper, we introduce the three-dimensional Korean character display by using 2D fonts and character depth. Character segments are designed by the set of vertex at run time. Character depth is applied for 3D visualization. And, the variation of eye-point and distance of object is used for 3D character animation.

  • In this paper, we introduce the technology to convert a single human image into a fashion show animation video clip. The technology can help the customers confirm the dynamic fitting result when combined with the virtual try on technique as well as the interesting experience to a normal person of being a fashion model. We developed an extended technique of full human 2D to 3D inverse modeling based on SMPLify human body inverse modeling technique, and a rigged model animation method. The 3D shape deformation of the full human from the body model was performed by 2 part deformation in the image domain and reconstruction using the estimated depth information. The quality of resultant animation videos are made to be publically available for evaluation. We consider it is a promising approach for commercial application when supplemented with the post - processing technology such as image segmentation technique, mapping technique and restoration technique of obscured area.

  • In this paper, we introduce a simulation tool for solar system using 3D animation tool MAYA. It accurately models solar system's astronomical features, such as each planet's orbital period, orbital speed, relative size, and texture, etc. This simulator visualize the solar system in 3D, which can be used to easily understands the system's positioning and astronomical movements. With a conventional Maya modeling process using menus and UI windows, it is difficult to assign correct physical attributes of planets. We use Python script to set up each planet's astronomical parameters. The proposed simulator is rendered as real as possible to be used for virtual reality and educational purpose.

  • Main problem in the domestic motion capture type production is that motion data are used even in the case when the human sensibility is needed. In other words it fails to give human images to the work, and production method only use motion capture data unconditionally and impetuously. Even though motion capture is effective and are various and applicable to various areas, it would cause enormous lose of capital and manual labor if these problems are not solved. In the present study, we compare motion capture with key animation production and analyze the merits and short comings of them. Also, we analyze them through the actual production and present the efficient method of key animation production when the expensive motion capturing devices are not available.

  • 3D 애니메이션 제작에서 동작의 타이밍(예를 들면 timing&spacing, slow-in, slow-out)은 연기의 의미와 느낌을 정확히 표현하기 위한 매우 중요한 요소 중의 하나이다. 따라서 이러한 타이밍의 편집은 애니메이션 작업에서 필수적이라고 할 수 있는데, 이를 기존의 3D 애니메이션 시스템에서 수행하기에는 기술적으로 많은 어려움이 있었다. 첫째로 타이밍의 편집은 시간축 자체를 변형하는 문제이기 때문에 보간 곡선에 대한 재매개변수화가 필요한데, 이러한 가능은 기존 애니메이션 시스템에서 제공되지 않는다. 둘째로 타이밍 편집에는 종종 애니메이션 감독이 직접 참여하기도 하는데, 일반적으로 3D 애니메이션 시스템의 사용에 익숙하지 않기 때문에 원하는 결과를 직접 만들어 보기가 어려웠다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 문제들을 해결한 새로운 애니메이션 타이밍 시스템을 구현하였다. 이 시스템은 렌더링된 영상파일들과 애니메이션 장면 파일을 입력 받아 사용자가 타이밍 편집을 하고, 그 결과를 애니메이션 장면 파일에 다시 기록하는 방식으로 구현된다. 타이밍 편집은 기존 셀 애니메이션 제작 방식과 유사한 방식으로 프레임을 삽입하거나 삭제하는 가능과 시간왜곡 (time-warping) 그래프를 직접 조정하여 타이밍을 조정하는 가능을 제공한다. 전자는 제작도구에 익숙하지 않은 감독이나 셀 애니메이션 작업자들이 직관적으로 사용할 수 있는 기능이고, 후자는 좀 더 세밀한 타이밍 조정을 위해 제공하는 가능이다. 사용자가 편집한 타이밍 결과는 각 동작변수의 보간곡선을 재매개변수화하여 애니메이션 파일에 기록된다. 본 논문에서 구현한 시스템은 실제 애니메이션 제작에 보편적으로 사용되는 마야 애니메이션 파일을 지원하도록 구현되었다.
