The Development of Overhead Crane Simulator Using Open Source Physics Engine (오픈소스 물리엔진을 이용한 천장 크레인 시뮬레이터 개발)

  • Recently, increasing numbers of games and simulators are being implemented by employing the physically-based modeling techniques for better realism. In this paper, we propose the implementation techniques for overhead crane simulator based on ODE, the well-known open source dynamic engine. By comparing the dynamic behavior of the proposed system with a commercial engine based simulator, the physical plausibility and the effectiveness of the ODE based OHC simulator are verified. We expect the proposed the OHC simulator can be successfully utilized for virtual training in various educational institutes.

  • The present study developed a sequential approach-based numerical simulator for modeling coupled thermal-hydrological-mechanical (THM) processes in the ground and investigated the computational performance of the coupling analysis algorithm. The present sequential approach linked the two different solvers: an open-source numerical code, OpenGeoSys for solving the thermal and hydrological processes in porous media and a commercial code, FLAC3D for solving the geomechanical response of the ground. A benchmark test of the developed simulator was carried out using a THM problem where an analytical solution is given. The benchmark problem involves the coupled behavior (variations in temperature, pore pressure, stress, and deformation with time) of a fully saturated porous medium which is subject to a point heat source. The results of the analytical solution and numerical simulation were compared and the validity of the numerical simulator was investigated.

  • We developed a Off-Line Graphic Simulator which can simulate a robot model in 3D graphics space in Windows 95 version. 4 axes SCARA robot was adopted as an objective model. Forward kinematics, inverse kinematics and robot dynamics modeling were included in the developed program. The interface between users and the off-line program system in the Windows 95's graphic user interface environment was also studied. The developing language is Microsoft Visual C++. Graphic libraries, OpenGL, by Silicon Graphics, Inc. were utilized for 3D graphics.

  • Climate change is undeniably the most urgent challenge that humanity faces today. Despite this, the level of public awareness and understanding of climate change remains insufficient, indicating a need for more proactive education and the development of supportive content. In particular, it is crucial to intensify climate change education during elementary and secondary schooling when values and ethical consciousness begin to form. However, there is a significant lack of age-appropriate, experiential educational content. To address this, our study has developed an innovative 3D simulator, enabling learners to indirectly experience the effects of climate change, specifically sea-level rise. This simulator considers not only sea-level rise caused by climate change but also storm surges, which is a design based on the analysis of long-term wave observation big data. To make the simulator accessible and engaging for students, we utilized the 'Unity' game engine. We further propose using this simulator as a part of a comprehensive educational program on climate change.

A Development of Training Course for the Automatic Reclosing of Transmission Systems using a Real Time Digital Simulator (실시간 시뮬레이터를 이용한 송전계통 자동재폐로 훈련 코스 개발)

  • 본 논문은 실시간 디지털 시뮬레이터(Real Time Digital Simulator, RTDS)를 이용한 송전계통의 자동 재폐로 모의 교육훈련시스템 개발에 대해 요약하였다. 본 논문에서 개발한 모의 훈련 코스는 3상 일괄 재폐로와 1상 및 3상 재폐로의 두 가지 부분으로 나뉘어 구성되었다. RTDS를 이용한 모의 파일의 구성 시 각 계통은 양단에 거리계전기를 설치한 것으로 모의하였으며 154kV 계통의 경우 송전단은 실제 거리계전기를 이용하여 구성하였다. 1상 및 3상 재폐로의 경우 1선지락 고장에 대해서는 해당상만 트림 및 재폐로를 하도록 하고 나머지 고장에 대해서는 3상 일괄트립 및 재폐로가 되도록 모의하였으며 대상 계통은 345kV의 전형적인 송전계통을 대상으로 하였다. 리셋 시간의 모의 훈련을 위해 현재 국내 리셋시간 기준치 이내에 또 다른 고장이 발생했을 경우와 기준시간 이상 경과한 후에 고장이 발생한 경우를 나누어 모의할 수 있도록 구성하였다. 고장종류, 고장지속시간, 1상 및 3상 재폐로 선택, 재폐로 횟수 및 재폐로 시간 등은 현재 한국전력의 재폐로 규정에 언급된 것을 모의하는 것은 물론 사용자 임의로 변경이 가능하도록 구성하였다. 본 논문에서 개발한 모의 훈련코스는 송전계통의 자동재폐로에 대한 실무자들의 이해 증진을 위한 교육용으로 사용될 수 있음은 물론 보호 계전기 등의 시험을 위해서도 활용될 수 있을 것으로 기대한다.

  • In this study, we present the investigation results using a 3D radio wave propagation simulator in indoor environments. Previous studies treat only the path loss between the transmitter and receiver in 2D geometry. We provide the simulation results of indoor propagation prediction based on various ITU-R Recommendations. Simulation results compared here indicate that 150MHz and 2GHz frequency bands give quite different characteristics in presented indoor geometry. Since the field intensity is affected by the loss at the wall, the transmitting power level is one of the key factor for receiving power.

  • With the advances in and expansion of the semiconductor and display businesses in Korea the demand of the engineers in such fields is increasing. Keeping pace with the trend, the semiconductor courses in undergraduate not only include the newest technologies in addition to the fundamental theories but fabrication related technologies as well in order to produce engineers with practical knowledge. However, since semiconductor fabrication requires expensive equipment and materials in a clean room, laboratory class can't be provided in undergraduate. To overcome this limitation actual fabrication processes are recorded in video and played in class. In addition, 3D visualization of fabrication processes can be used.

  • In this study, an integrated GNSS Simulator called Inha GNSS Simulation System (IGSS) using 3D spatial information was developed and validated. Also positioning availability and accuracy improvement were evaluated under the integrated GNSS environment using IGSS. GPS and GLONASS satellite visibility predictions were compared with real observations, and their frequency of error were 6.4% and 7.5%, respectively. To evaluate positioning availability and accuracy improvement under the integrated GNSS environment, the Daejeon government complex area was selected to be the test site because the area has high-rise buildings and thus is susceptible to signal blockages. The test consists of three parts: the first is when only GPS was used; the second is when both GPS and GLONASS were simulated; and the last is when GPS, GLONASS, and Galileo were used all together. In each case, the number of visible satellites and Dilution Of Precision were calculated and compared.
