This paper presents a 3D last design system that provides the 3-dimensional last data based on the FFD(Free Form Deformation) method. The proposed system utilizes the control points for deformation factor to convert from the 3D point cloud foot data to the 3D point cloud last data. The deformation factor of the FFD is obtained from the conventional last design technique, and constructed on the FFD lattice based on the bottom view and lateral view of the measured 3D point cloud foot data. In addition, the control points of FFD lattice is decided on the anatomical points of foot. The deformed 3D last obtained from the proposed FFD is saved as a 3D dxf foot data. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed system have the descent 3D last data based on the openGL window.
As the size and dimension of target problems in the field of computational engineering including CFD gets bigger and higher, it is needed to have more efficient and flexible data visualization environment in terms of software and hardware. Even though it is still manageable to use a mouse in controlling 3-dimensional data visualization, it would be beneficial to use 3-D input device for 3-D visualization. 'Data Glove' is one of the best 3-D input devices, because human hands are best tools for understanding 3-D space and manipulating 3-D objects. Signals coming from 'Data Glove' are analog and very sensitive to finger motions, therefore signal filtering using a digital filter is applied. This paper describes our experience and benefits of using data gloves in controlling 3-dimensional postprocessing softwares.

Usability and knowledge drawn from utilizing various ways of representing accounting data were examined. Classroom experiments were conducted to compare students' assessment of financial data using table of numbers, 2-dimensional column graphs (2D), 3-dimensional column graphs (3D), and mixed reality visualization of true 3-dimensional graphs (MR). The results showed that in assessing the financial status and performance of a firm, Table of numbers and MR took longer than 2D and 3D graphs. The time spent on true 3D graphs using MR technology was about the same as Table of numbers. When compared the assessment scores of the firm's financial status and performance between participants and experts, the difference was the least when participants used 2D graphs. However, MR was seen as being a new way to provide data of greater complexity and was very useful for financial information.

Recent technological advances in three-dimensional (3D) sensing devices and machine learning such as deep leaning has enabled data-driven 3D applications. Research on artificial intelligence has developed for the past few years and 3D deep learning has been introduced. This is the result of the availability of high-quality big data, increases in computing power, and development of new algorithms; before the introduction of 3D deep leaning, the main targets for deep learning were one-dimensional (1D) audio files and two-dimensional (2D) images. The research field of deep leaning has extended from discriminative models such as classification/segmentation/reconstruction models to generative models such as those including style transfer and generation of non-existing data. Unlike 2D learning, it is not easy to acquire 3D learning data. Although low-cost 3D data acquisition sensors have become increasingly popular owing to advances in 3D vision technology, the generation/acquisition of 3D data is still very difficult. Even if 3D data can be acquired, post-processing remains a significant problem. Moreover, it is not easy to directly apply existing network models such as convolution networks owing to the various ways in which 3D data is represented. In this paper, we summarize technological trends in AI-based 3D content generation.
Three-dimensional(3D) virtual clothing simulation system may require the use of physical, mechanical, and configurational data in order to mimic the actual clothing with high degree of realism. Therefore the 3-dimensional scanning system based on optical methods was adopted to extract the 3-dimensional data of the fabric surface. In this study, the appearances of the 3-dimensionally transformed textile fabrics via several finishing procedures were investigated using a 3D scanning system. The wool gauze fabrics treated with the shrink-proof finishing and the felting process showed height changes up to 4.5mm. The 3-dimensional configuration may be objectively described by the use of mesh generation from the scanned output. The generated mesh information may further be utilized in the 3D virtual clothing simulation system for accurate description of the fashionable textile materials used in the simulation system.
This study develops an optimal two-dimensional (2D) pattern from three-dimensional human scan data by considering the cycling posture and dermatome of high school male cyclists. By analyzing the body surface change in the cycling posture and considering the dermatome of the lower limbs, the optimal cutting line setting and the development of cycling tights for individual cyclists were presented to provide data that could be used in the clothing industry. We designed three cycling tights to solve the size unsuitability. 3D design 1 is a non-extension design based on the analysis of the 3D human body scan data, in which parts were connected diagonally from the front of the knee to the back of the knee. 3D design 2 removed both the front and back to reduce air resistance during cycling. 3D design 3 did not have a cutting line on the front panel because of the air resistance during cycling in the front area. We analyzed the garment pressure for 8 points of lower body and performed a subjective evaluation of the 3D designed tights and the current cycling tights. The 3D design 1 in this study was well received in the omphalion, thigh, and hip area, while 3D design 3 was well received in the omphalion, thigh, hip, and bottom bands. Therefore, the LoNE of 3D design 1 was applied to the front, and the hip cutting line of 3D design 3 was applied to the back.

This paper presents a cost-effective 3D foot scanner system that provides the 3-dimensional point cloud foot data to design the custom footwear. To measure the 3-dimensional point cloud data of the foot, a CCD camera, a Non-Gaussian laser line projector and optical triangulation method are employed. Furthermore, the integrated system employs a measurement base, a frame grabber, a CCD moving cart, a stepping motor and a computer. The measurement result is saved as 3D dxf format and it could be converted to 2D essential data fer a shoe design. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed system have the decent resolution of 1mm which is enough for last and shoe design.
We propose an image-based three-dimensional shape determination system. The shape, and thus the three-dimensional coordinate information of the 3-D object, is determined solely from captured images of the 3-D object from a prescribed set of viewpoints. The approach is based on the shape-from-silhouette (SFS) technique, and the efficacy of the SFS method is tested using a sample data set. The extracted three-dimensional shape is modeled with polygons generated by a new iterative triangulation algorithm, and the polygon model can be exported to commercial software. The proposed system may be used to visualize the 3-D object efficiently, or to quickly generate initial CAD data for reverse engineering purposes, including three dimensional design applications such as 3-D animation and 3-D games.

A new approach for human foot modelling and last design based on the cross sectional method is presented in this paper. The proposed last design method utilizes the dynamic trimmed parametric patches for the foot 3D data and last 3D data. The cross section a surface of 3D foot for the 3D last, design modeling of free form geometric last shapes. The proposed last design scheme wraps the 3D last data surrounding the measured 3D foot data with the effect of deforming the last design rule The last design rule of the FFD is constructed on the FFD lattice based on foot-last shape analysis. In addition, the control points of FFD lattice are constructed with cross sectional data interpolation methods from the a finite set of 3D foot data. The deformed 3D last result obtained from the proposed FFD is saved as a 3D dxf foot data. The experimental results demonstrate that the last designed with the proposed scheme has good performance.
