MA 316L ODS 및 Wet 316L ODS 스테인리스강에서 충격에너지에 미치는 소결 공정의 영향 (Effects of the Sintering Variable on Impact Energy in MA 316L ODS and Wet 316L ODS Stainless Steels)

  • Two kinds of oxide-dispersion-strengthened (ODS) 316L stainless steel were manufactured using a wet mixing process(wet) and a mechanical alloying method (MA). An MA 316L ODS was prepared by a mixing of metal powder and a mechanical alloying process. A wet 316L ODS was manufactured by a wet mixing with 316L stainless steel powder. A solution of yttrium nitrate was dried after being in the wet 316L ODS alloy. The results showed that carbon and oxygen were effectively reduced during the degassing process before the hydroisostatic process (HIP) in both alloys. It appeared that the effect of HIP treatment on increase in impact energy was pronounced in the MA 316L ODS alloy. The MA 316L ODS alloy showed a higher yield strength and a smaller elongation, when compared to the wet 316L ODS alloy. This seemed to be attributed to the enhancement of bonding between oxide and matrix particles from HIP and to the presence of a finer oxide of about 20 nm from the MA process in the MA 316L ODS alloy.

조직생검용 Needle의 세라믹 코팅에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Ceramic Coating of Biopsy Needle)

  • Stainless steel 316L (STS 316L) is widely used as a material of biopsy needle. However it has a side effect that tissue can be damaged by electrochemical operation between tissue and STS 316L. Many studies have been made on the ceramic coating of biopsy needle to reduce the side effect. In this study, STS 316L was coated with three bioceramics, $Al_2O_3$, $SiO_2$ and $ZrO_2$ using a RF magnetron sputtering method. The effects of ceramic coating on the electrical conductivity and coating strength of ceramic-coated STS 316L were investigated. The results showed that the electrical conductivity of ceramic-coated STS 316L was much lower than that of uncoated STS 316L. The coating strength of $ZrO_2$-coated STS 316L was 30% and 70% higher, respectively than those of $Al_2O_3$-coated STS 316L and $SiO_2_3$-coated STS 316L.

  • In this study, the high-temperature oxidation properties of austenitic 316L stainless steel manufactured by laser powder bed fusion (LPBF) is investigated and compared with conventional 316L manufactured by hot rolling (HR). The initial microstructure of LPBF-SS316L exhibits a molten pool ~100 ㎛ in size and grains grown along the building direction. Isotropic grains (~35 ㎛) are detected in the HR-SS316L. In high-temperature oxidation tests performed at 700℃ and 900℃, LPBF-SS316L demonstrates slightly superior high-temperature oxidation resistance compared to HR-SS316L. After the initial oxidation at 700℃, shown as an increase in weight, almost no further oxidation is observed for both materials. At 900℃, the oxidation weight displays a parabolic trend and both materials exhibit similar behavior. However, at 1100℃, LPBF-SS316L oxidizes in a parabolic manner, but HR-SS316L shows a breakaway oxidation behavior. The oxide layers of LPBF-SS316L and HR-SS316L are mainly composed of Cr2O3, Fe-based oxides, and spinel phases. In LPBF-SS316L, a uniform Cr depletion region is observed, whereas a Cr depletion region appears at the grain boundary in HR-SS316L. It is evident from the results that the microstructure and the high-temperature oxidation characteristics and behavior are related.

STS 316L과 316LN 강의 고온 기계적 특성 및 가공 변질층에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Mechanical Properties and Deformed Layer of STS 316L and 316LN Stainless Steels)

  • The deformed layers generated in face milling works were comparatively investigated to type 316L and nitrogen(N)-added type 316LN stainless steels. In order to characterize mechanical properties between type 316L and type 316LN, high-temperature tensile tests were conducted with different temperatures: R.T to $700^{\circ}C$. The cutting forces of three components, Fx, Fy and Fz were measured using a tool dynamometer through the face milling cutting tests. The deformed layers were measured by micro-hardness tests along deformed layers. The results of mechanical properties showed that type 316LN was superior to type 316L. The deformed layers of two steels were generated in the 1501m-3001m ranges, and type 316L was higher than type 316LN. The reason for this is due to the high strength properties by nitrogen effect. It was found that deformed structures were well observed for type 316L, but were minutely observed for type 316LN in this cutting conditions.

Type 316LN 스테인리스강의 절삭특성과 가공 변질층 (Cutting Characteristics and Deformed Layer of Type 316LN Stainless Steel)

  • The cutting characteristics and the deformed layer of nitrogen(N)-added type 316LN stainless steel were comparatively investigated to type 316L stainless steel. The cutting force, the surface roughness(Ra) and the tool wear in face milling works were measured with cutting conditions, and the deformed layers were obtained from micro-hardness testing method. The cutting resistance of type 316LN was similar to type 316L in spite of its high strength. The surface roughness of type 316LN was superior to type 316L for all the cutting conditions. In particular, in the high cutting speed above 345m/min, the surface roughness of the two stainless steels was closely same. The deformed layer thickness of the two stainless steels was generated in the 150$\mu\textrm{m}$-300$\mu\textrm{m}$ ranges, and its value of type 316LN was lower than that of type 316L. This is due to the high strength properties by nitrogen effect. It was found that type 316LN was higher in the tool wear than that type 316L, and flank wear was dominant to crater wear. In face milling works of type 316LN steel, tool wear is regarded as a important problem.

  • AISI316L강은 AISI304L강과 기본 조성은 같지만 316L강이 약 2.5%의 Mo가 첨가되어 있다. 저온 플라즈마 질탄화 시 모재에 첨가된 Mo의 영향을 조사하기 위하여 처리온도를 변화시켜 실험하였다. 같은 처리온도의 경우 경화층의 두께는 316L강이 비교적 두껍게 형성되었다. 316L강의 경우 $450^{\circ}C$이하에서 약 25 ${\mu}m$까지 형성되었고, 306L강의 경우 $400^{\circ}C$에서 약 10 ${\mu}m$까지 형성되었다. $400^{\circ}C$ 이하에서 경화층은 두 가지시편 모두 확장된 오스테나이트 (${\gamma}_N,\;{\gamma}_c$)로 이루어져 있으나, 304L의 경우 $430^{\circ}C$부터 석출물(CrN)이 형성되기 시작하였다. 316L의 경우 $450^{\circ}C$까지 석출물이 형성되지 않았고, $480^{\circ}C$에서 석출물 (CrN)이 관찰되었다. 석출물이 형성된 시편을 제외한 모든 시편의 내식성은 모제보다 증가 하였다.

SUS316L결합상을 이용한 $TiB_2$ 서멧합금의 제조와 특성평가 (Fabrication and Characterization of $TiB_2$-based Cermet Using SUS316L Metal Binder)

  • 절삭공구 재료나 내마모 재료와 같은 용도의 $TiB_2$기 서멧합금을 제조하기 위해서는 소결성과 기계적 특성이 우수한 결합상이 요구된다. 본 연구에서는 경도 및 인성이 뛰어난 새로운 $TiB_2$기 서멧합금의 결합금속으로 SUS316L을 착안하였다. $TiB_2$-SUS316L 서멧합금은 상압소결에 의해 $1650^{\circ}C$ 이상에서 상대 밀도 99% 이상으로 치밀화되었다. 소결중 $Fe_2B$상이 생성되었지만 10vo1%SUS316L의 조성에서 1290MPa가지의 강도를 얻었다. 또한 비커스 경도 180pa 이상에서 $6MPam^{1/2}$까지의 파괴인성값을 얻을 수 있었고 이러한 경도 및 인성의 균형은 종래의 서멧합금에 비해 우수한 것이다. 약 $800^{\circ}C$ 부근에서 고온강도의 급격한 저하는 SUS316L 결합상의 소성변형으로 인한 것이었다.

  • In the present study, we comparatively investigated the microstructures of two hot-rolled stainless steel clad plates; STS 304L - low carbon steel A516-70N and STS 316L - A516-70N. The STS 304L/A516-70N clad plate (Clad_304L_Ni) had a Ni-interlayer between stainless steel and carbon steel and a 90 ㎛ thick deformation band of unrecrystallized austenite grains on the stainless steel. The STS 316L/A516-70N clad plate (Clad_316L) had no interlayer and almost fully recrystallized austenite grains. Clad_304L_Ni exhibited the thinner a decarburized layer in carbon steel and a total carburized layer in stainless steel than Clad_316L. However, a severely carburized layer in stainless steel was thicker for Clad_304L_Ni than Clad_316L. Hardness profiles near the interface of clad plates matched well with microstructures at locations where the hardness values were measured.

  • 본 논문은 LNG 선박의 이중연료엔진의 이중벽 가스파이프의 재료인 STS 304와 STS 316L에 대하여 GTAW에 의해 용접된 동종 및 이종 용접부의 기계적 특성과 용접성을 평가하였다. STS 304 동종 용접부의 경우, STS 316L 동종 용접부에 비해 모재 대비 현저하게 기계적 특성이 감소하는 경향을 나타냈다. 미세조직 관찰 결과, STS 304 동종 용접부가 STS 316L 동종 용접부에 비해 침상 페라이트가 많이 형성되어 상대적으로 높은 경도를 나타냈다.

  • STS316L은 인성, 연성, 부식저항성 등 우수한 기계적 성질 때문에 에너지환경설비 등 구조물에 널리 이용되고 있다. 그러나, 용접구조물은 가혹한 환경하에서 경년열화가 심각하다. 지금까지의 연구들은 주로 용접부의 피로균열진전거동에 관하여 수행되었고, 피로균열진전속도식의 재료상수와 비파괴적 평가의 상관성에 관한 연구는 거의 없었다. 본 연구는 SIS316L 용접부의 피로균열진전 거동을 조사하고, 초음파 파라미터로 열화특성을 평가하고 시간-주파수 분석으로 해석을 하였다. 본 연구 결과는 용접구조물의 사용기간 중 피로수명 등을 예측하기 위한 기초 데이터로서 사용될 수 있다.
