We investigated the improvement of immuno-modulatory activities of sap of Acer mono and A. okamotoanum encapsulated with edible polymers. Anticancer activities and immune activities such as human B and T cell growth, secretion of cytokines and natural killer cell growth were observed. Both human immune B and T cells were increased up to 30~50% by the addition of nano particle sap of Acer mono and A. okamotoanum. The secretion of Interleukin-6 (IL-6) and Tumor necrosis factor-a (TNF-a) from human immune B and T cells were also significantly increased compare to the control. Natural Killer (NK) cell growth was enhanced to $19.4{\times}10^5$ cells/mL in adding nano encapsulated sap of A.okamotoanum. The cytotoxicity of the sample on normal human lung cell (HEL299) was below 19.8% in adding 1.0 mg/mL of the nano particle sap of A. okamotoanum. Generally, the growth of all three human lung adenocarcinoma, human stomach adenocarcinoma and human liver adenocarcinama was inhibited up to 85% in adding 1.0 mg/mL of the encapsulated sap. Interestingly enough, the encapsulated sap was completely penetrated into human cancer cells within 30 min after addition. It showed that the encapsulation of the sap definitely increased its biological activities, which can expand its use to wide range of food industries.

We evaluated the optimum dietary lipid level and feeding rates of extruded pellets (EP) in juvenile flounder Paralichthys olivaceus during the summer season. The first experiment was conducted to determine the optimum dietary lipid level in juvenile flounder. Five isonitrogenous EP (52% crude protein) with increasing dietary lipids (6, 8, 10, 12 and 14%) were fed to satiety to triplicate groups of the juveniles ($18.4{\pm}0.11g$) twice a day for 6 weeks. Weight gain (WG) of fish fed EP with 10% lipid was significantly higher than those of fish fed EP with 6 and 14% lipid (P<0.05). Broken line model analysis suggested that the optimum dietary lipid level could be $9.08{\pm}0.37%$ for the maximum WG in juvenile flounder. The second experiment was conducted to determine the optimum feeding rate using experimental diet contained 10% lipid level that had the highest WG in first experiment. The feed intake of triplicate groups of the juveniles ($13.4{\pm}0.15g$) was restricted to four different feeding rates of 2.0, 2.5, 3.0 and 3.5% of their body weight $day^{-1}$ and to satiation using experimental diets. WG and feed efficiency (FE) of fish was affected by feeding rates. WG and specific growth rate of fish fed the diets increased with increasing feeding rate, however no significant differences (P>0.05) in WG and specific growth rate were observed between the fish fed 3.5% of their body weight $day^{-1}$ and to satiation. FE of fish fed 3.5% of their body weight $day^{-1}$ was significantly higher than those offish fed 2.0% of their body weight $day^{-1}$ and to satiation (P<0.05). Broken line model analysis suggested that the optimum dietary feeding rate could be $3.56{\pm}0.06%$ for the maximum WG in juvenile flounder. These results indicated that the optimum lipid level and feeding rate could be $9{\sim}10%$ (Energy: 4,774kcal and PIE ratio: 108mg protein/kcal in diet) and 3.5% of their body weight $day^{-1}$in juvenile flounder, respectively.
This study was conducted to select organic materials (OM) and nitrogen sources in composting of waste mushroom bed from Agaricus bisporus. We examined physio-chemical properties of the organic materials and the mixture ratio for preparing the wasted mushroom bed (M) compost. The carbon content of sawdust was higher than those of rice straw (R) as OM source and the nitrogen content was high in the order of fowl manure (F)>> pig manure (P)> cow manure (C). The compost was prepared to maintain the criteria of above 25% organic matter and then the change of their ingredients was estimated during the process of fermentation. The temperature of waste mushroom bed+pig manure+rice straw (MRP) treatment was varied fast throughout fermentation, on the other hand the temperature of waste mushroom bed+pig manure+sawdust (MSP) treatment was steadily elevated to the middle of composting. The pH of the compost was somewhat high to pH 8.5~9.0 at the early stage, but decreased to 7.5 at the end stage of composting. The content of OM after fermentation was decreased to the level of 19~21% in rice straw, but the sawdust treatment maintained 25~27% organic matter. The waste mushroom bed+fowl manure+rice straw (MRF) treatment, which contains 26.2% organic matter and 0.68% nitrogen, was the highest among them. The volume of compost was reduced to 50% by using rice straw as organic matter, but reduced to 30% by using the sawdust. The contents of heavy metal in the compost were suitable within the legal criteria. The number of microorganisms were higher in the rice straw than those in the sawdust. It was high in the order of fowl manure> pig manure> cow manure. The major groups consisted of aerobic bacteria, gram negative bacteria and Bacillus sp. and their populations after fermentation were increased to $1{\times}10^1{\sim}1{\times}10^2\;cfu\;g^{-1}$ rather than those before fermentation. Therefore we concluded that the waste mushroom bed+fowl manure+sawdust (MSF 3:9:1 v/v/v) treatment was suitable combination for high organic matter and nitrogen source, and the periods of composting were 50~60 days.
The dual inoculation response of soybean with rhizobium and mycorrhiza was examined in pot vermiculite and field soils. In order to select a symbiotically compatible mycorrhiza with Bradyrhizobium japonicum, a highly germinating spore among 60 strains from 32 upland soils in southern part of Korea was obtained in Acaulospora sp., Gigaspora sp. and Glomus sp., respectively. As a result of dual inoculation of Glycin max cv. Dajangkong and Eunhakong both with $1{\times}10^8$cells of B. japonicum YCK 213 and 10 spores of each mycorrhiza in vermiculite pot, only Glomus sp. treatment together with the rhizobium showed significant increase ($P{\leqq}0.05$) both in shoot dry wt and nodule mass of not Eunhakong but Dajangkong. In red-yellow soils with pH 5.2($1:5H_2O$) and 203 mg of Lancaster P per kg of soil, in which $10^3$ cells of B. japonicum and $10{\pm}0.2$ spores of mycorrhizae per gram of soil were naturalized, grain yield of G. max cv. Dajangkong was increased to 3.9% by dual inoculation both of $4.8{\times}10^6$cells of B. japonicum and 10 spores of mycorrhizae per two seeds under condition applied with 30 kg $P_2O_5$ and 34 kg $K_2O$ per hectare compared to conventionally fertilized plot (2.75 MT $ha^{-1}$) added with 30 kg N $ha^{-1}$. For increasing the consumption of pear, the pear wines were made by using eight different kinds of yeast. The chemical properties, such as pH, acidity, ethanol and sugar contents, and the consumer acceptance of various pear wines were analyzed. In analysis result of chemical properties, the value of pH was decreased and the acidity was increased until few days, and then retained during fermentation. The ethanol content was increased and the sugar content was decreased during fermentation. The pear wine brewed by B yeast (Lalnin, Saccharomyces cerevisiae) among eight different kinds of yeast had the highest content of ethanol, also this wine was represented the most consumer acceptance by the panels who consist of two age groups such as 20's to 30's and 50's to 60's. Therefore, we chose the yeast B for analyzing the effect of additives during fermentation. As the additives, the $K_2S_2O_5$ and ammonium phosphate as the disinfectant and hemicellulase and pectinase as fermenting conditioner were added into the pear wine brewed by yeast B. When additives are added, the chemical properties were the same as followed. Te values of pH was lower than when additives were not added(control). The acidity was he highest when ammonium phosphate was added, but the acidity was not changed after 4 day fermentation. Sugar contents when added $K_2S_2O_5$ 350ppm was shown the fastest deceasing, and it was orderly decreased as control, ammonium phosphate, hemicellulase, pectinase, and $K_2S_2O_5$ 175ppm. The decreasing rate of sugar content of these 6 test groups during fermentation gradually decreased without a big changes and the after 7 day fermentation, sugar contents were seldom decreased and the final sugar content was $9.5{\sim}9.8^{\circ}Brix$. In terms of change of the content of ethanol, all test groups generated 11~12.4% ethanol after 7 day fermentation. The group where ammonium phosphate was added generated 12.4% alcohol, which is the fastest speed and the group, which hemicellulase additive was added, showed generally slow alcohol generation rate. In terms of ethanol contents, the non-additive group and $K_2S_2O_5$ additive group showed 0.05%, which is very low, and hemicellulase and pectinase additive group is more than 0.5% which is rather high.
This study was conducted to evaluate the antimicrobial and antioxidant effects of ripened medicinal herb extracts from wood vinegar. The wood vinegar was collected from heated oaks. The Allium sativum (AS), Atractylodes ovate (AO), Cin-namomum zeylanicum (CZ), Coptidis rhizome (CR), Houttuynia cordata (HC), Phellodendron chinense (PC) and Syzygium aromaticum (SA) extracts were collected using wood vinegar, and they were ripened under room temperature for 50 days. All ripened medicinal herb extracts were used to test the antimicrobial and antioxidant activities. For the Lactobacillus, clear zone of 6 different medicinal herb except for CR ranged from 1.28 to 1.63 mm. 3.30 and 3.48 mm of clear zone were determined when CZ and SA were applied to Salmonella and E. coli, respectively (p<0.05), and they showed the largest clear zone as compared to other herbs. The clear zones of CR for Salmonella and E. coli were 2.21 and 3.34 mm, and each clear zone of CR was smaller than that of CZ (p<0.05) but was similar to that of SA (p>0.05). The amount of polyphenol and flavonoid was the highest in SA and CR, and they were 4.28 and 0.38 mg/mL, respectively (p<0.05). The CR shown 0.38 mg/mL flavonoid, had the highest DPPH, and it was 0.41 mM. The DPPH of HZ was significantly lowered in accordance with high amount of polyphenol and flavonoid, 2.56 and 0.20 mg/mL (p<0.05). In conclusion, CZ, SA, and CR showed high antimicrobial and antioxidant potentials, and therefore, may be used as alternatives to antibiotics for poultry diets.

Background: Abnormal angiogenesis can induce hypoxia within a highly proliferating tumor mass, and these hypoxic conditions can in turn create clinical problems, such as resistance to chemotherapy. However, the mechanism by which hypoxia induces these changes has not yet been determined. Therefore, this study was conducted to determine how hypoxia induces changes in cell viability and extracellular microenvironments in an in vitro culture system using non-small cell lung cancer cells. Methods: The non-small cell lung cancer cell line, A549 was cultured in DMEM or RPMI-1640 media that contained fetal bovine serum. A decrease in the oxygen tension of the media that contained the culture was then induced in a hypoxia microchamber using a $CO_2-N_2$ gas mixture. A gas analysis and an MTT assay were then conducted. Results: (1) The decrease in oxygen tension was checked the anaerobic gas mixture for 30 min and then reoxygenation was induced by adding a 5% $CO_2-room$ air gas mixture to the chamber. (2) Purging with the anaerobic gas mixture was found to decrease the further oxygen tension of cell culture media. (3) The low oxygen tension resulted in a low pH, lactic acidosis and a decreased glucose concentration in the media. (4) The decrease in glucose concentration that was observed as a result of hypoxia was markedly different when different types of media were evaluated. (5) The decrease in oxygen tension inhibited proliferation of A549 cells. Conclusion: These data suggests that tumor hypoxia is associated with acidosis and hypoglycemia, which have been implicated in the development of resistance to chemotherapy and radiotherapy.
Thermal and physical properties were measured on 206 Jurassic granite samples obtained from three boreholes in the central part of Korea. Thermal conductivity(${\lambda}$), thermal diffusivity(${\alpha}$), and specific heat(Cp) were measured in a laboratory; the average values are ${\lambda}$=2.813 W/mK, ${\alpha}=1.296mm^2/sec$, and Cp=0.816 J/gK, respectively. In addition, porosity(${\phi}$), and dry and saturated density(${\rho}$) were measured in the laboratory; the average values are ${\phi}$=0.01, ${\rho}(dry)=2.662g/cm^3$ and ${\rho}(saturated)=2.67g/cm^3$, respectively. Thermal diffusivity of 10 granite samples were measured with increasing temperature from $25^{\circ}C$ to $200^{\circ}C$. In this study, we found that thermal diffusivity at $200^{\circ}C$ is about 30% lower than thermal diffusivity at $25^{\circ}C$. In correlation analysis, thermal conductivity increases with increasing thermal diffusivity. However, thermal conductivity does not show good correlation with porosity and density. Consequently, we know that thermal conductivity of granite would be more influenced by mineral composition than by porosity. We also derived ${\rho}=-2.393{\times}{\phi}+2.705$ from density and porosity data. XRD and XRF analysis were performed to investigate effects of mineral and chemical composition on thermal conductivity. From those results, we found that thermal conductivity increases with increasing quartz and $SiO_2$, and decreases with increasing albite and $Al_2O_3$. Regression analysis using those mineral and chemical composition were carried out ; we found $K=0.0294V_{Quartz}+1.93$ for quartz, $K=0.237W_{SiO_2}-14.09$ for $SiO_2$, and $K=0.053W_{SiO_2}-0.476W_{Al_2O_3}+6.52$ for $SiO_2$ and $Al_2O_3$. Specific gravities were measured on 10 granite samples in the laboratory. The measured specific gravity depends on chemical compositions of granite. Therefore, specific gravity can be estimated by the felsic-mafic index(F) that is calculated from chemical composition. The estimated specific gravity ranges from 2.643 to 2.658. The average relative error between measured and estimated specific gravities is 0.677%.
A new commercial strain of oyster mushroom (was developed by hyphal anastomosis, and was improved byhybridization between a monokaryotic strain derived from Pleurotus ostreatus ASI 0635 (Gonji 7ho) and a dikaryotic strain derived from P. ostreatus ASI 0666 (Mongdol). The optimum temperatures for mycelial growth and fruiting body development were $25{\sim}30^{\circ}C$ and $12{\sim}18^{\circ}C$, respectively. When PDA (potato dextrose agar medium) and MCM (mushroom complete medium) were compared, mycelial growth was faster in MCM. Similar results were observed with the control strain P. ostreatus ASI 2504 (Suhan 1ho). Analysis of the genetic characteristics of the new cultivar ('Gosol') showed a different DNA profile from that of the control ASI 2504 strain, when RAPD (raurpDNA) primers URP1, 2, 3, and 7 were used. Fruiting body production per bottle was approximately116 g based on a production performance test. In addition, yields from a farm field trial were stably achieved in an inadequate production enviro. The color of the pileus was blackish gray, and the stipe was long and thick. Therefore, we expect that this new strain will satisfy consumer demand for high quality mushrooms.

This study was conducted to establish an efficient screening method for watermelon plants resistant to Fusarium wilt (FW), which is caused by Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. niveum (Fon). An HA isolate was prepared from a wilted watermelon plant in Haman-gun and identified as F. oxysporum f. sp. niveum based on morphological characteristics, molecular analyses of ITS (internal transcribed spacer) and TEF (translation elongation factor $1{\alpha}$) sequences, and host specificity on cucurbits including watermelon, melon, oriental melon, and cucumber. The assay for disease response of watermelon differentials indicated that the HA isolate was race 0. Among seven liquid media tested, the highest amount of Fon spores was produced from V8-juice broth, which was selected as a medium for mass production of Fon. The disease assay for 21 watermelon and 11 watermelon-rootstock cultivars demonstrated that 20 watermelon cultivars except for 'Soknoranggul' were susceptible; 'Soknoranggul' was moderately resistant. All the tested rootstock cultivars were highly resistant to the HA isolate. The evaluation of disease development depending on various conditions suggested that an efficient screening method for FW resistance in watermelon plants is to dip the roots of 10-day-old seedlings in spore suspension of $1.0{\times}10^5-1.0{\times}10^6conidia{\cdot}mL^{-1}$ for 30 min., to transplant the seedlings to plastic pots with a fertilized soil, and then to cultivate the plants at $25^{\circ}C$ for 3 weeks.

② 상기 이용제한 규정에 따라 서비스를 이용하는 회원에게 서비스 이용에 대하여 별도 공지 없이 서비스 이용의
일시정지, 이용계약 해지 할 수 있습니다.
제 17 조 (전자우편주소 수집 금지)
회원은 전자우편주소 추출기 등을 이용하여 전자우편주소를 수집 또는 제3자에게 제공할 수 없습니다.
제 6 장 손해배상 및 기타사항
제 18 조 (손해배상)
당 사이트는 무료로 제공되는 서비스와 관련하여 회원에게 어떠한 손해가 발생하더라도 당 사이트가 고의 또는 과실로 인한 손해발생을 제외하고는 이에 대하여 책임을 부담하지 아니합니다.
제 19 조 (관할 법원)
서비스 이용으로 발생한 분쟁에 대해 소송이 제기되는 경우 민사 소송법상의 관할 법원에 제기합니다.
[부 칙]
1. (시행일) 이 약관은 2016년 9월 5일부터 적용되며, 종전 약관은 본 약관으로 대체되며, 개정된 약관의 적용일 이전 가입자도 개정된 약관의 적용을 받습니다.
