Vibrations of Complete Paraboloidal Shells with Variable Thickness form a Three-Dimensional Theory

  • A three-dimensional (3-D) method of analysis is presented for determining the free vibration frequencies and mode shapes of solid paraboloidal and complete (that is, without a top opening) paraboloidal shells of revolution with variable wall thickness. Unlike conventional shell theories, which are mathematically two-dimensional (2-D), the present method is based upon the 3-D dynamic equations of elasticity. The ends of the shell may be free or may be subjected to any degree of constraint. Displacement components $u_r,\;u_{\theta},\;and\;u_z$ in the radial, circumferential, and axial directions, respectively, are taken to be sinusoidal in time, periodic in ${\theta}$, and algebraic polynomials in the r and z directions. Potential (strain) and kinetic energies of the paraboloidal shells of revolution are formulated, and the Ritz method is used to solve the eigenvalue problem, thus yielding upper bound values of the frequencies by minimizing the frequencies. As the degree of the polynomials is increased, frequencies converge to the exact values. Convergence to four digit exactitude is demonstrated for the first five frequencies of the complete, shallow and deep paraboloidal shells of revolution with variable thickness. Numerical results are presented for a variety of paraboloidal shells having uniform or variable thickness, and being either shallow or deep. Frequencies for five solid paraboloids of different depth are also given. Comparisons are made between the frequencies from the present 3-D Ritz method and a 2-D thin shell theory.

  • There are about 10 motors for tile actuator of the automation system in an auto-mobile recently. The performance of the motor-case is much related to the noise and the vibration of an auto-mobile Multi-Forming process is so much the better than existing deep-drawing or Multi-step forming by press by less cost, installation and staff. But there isn't the specific and general process design, so we aren't good at competition. So in the first step, I want to study about the core design for the multi-forming process. We can access by the elasto-plastic theory and the finite element method, and we use a commercial package of the Deform-2D and, Deform-3D which is based on three-dimensional elasto-plastic finite element, evaluated propriety oi the package. The evaluation of the package propriety was simulated by simple bending example. It was found the elasto-plastic theory was mostly in agreement with the simulation. We proposed that three type of section for the core and analyzed by finite element method (Deform-2D). We can get the best result with the ellipse type core. Then we apply the result of the preceding analysis to the finite element method (Deform-3D). In 3D-finite element analysis, we can get the result of 8/100mm-roundness. This result can help the improvement of the multi-forming process.

전단류 분산 해석을 위한 순차혼합모형의 개발 (Development of Sequential Mixing Model for Analysis of Shear Flow Dispersion)

  • 본 연구에서는 Taylor의 이론, 즉 종방향 이송과 횡방향 확산이 서로 독립적으로 일어나며 두 과정이 서로 균형을 이룬다는 개념을 바탕으로 순차혼합모형을 제안하였다. 서로 다른 혼합시간과 유속 분포 등을 사용하여 수치모의를 실시하였으며, 여기서 얻어진 단면평균 농도분포를 1차원 종분산모형과 2차원 이송-분산 모형과 비교하였다. 그 결과, 순차혼합모형이 1차원 종분산모형으로 요약되는 Taylor의 이론을 잘 구현하고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 2차원이송-확산모형과의 비교를 통해 혼합 시간과 횡확산계수와의 관계를 밝힐 수 있었으며, 따라서 순차혼합모형이 1차원 종분산모형뿐 아니라 2차원 이송-분산모형까지 연계하여 전단류 분산을 통합적으로 설명하는 모형임을 알 수 있었다. 본 연구에서는 순차혼합모형의 수치모의 결과와 1차원 종분산모형과의 적합을 통해 종분산계수를 결정하고, 회귀식을 사용해 종분산계수 추정식을 제안하였다. 본 연구에서 제안한 종분산계수 추정식은 38개의 현장실험자료를 사용하여 검증하였다. 그 결과, 하폭 대 수심 비가 비교적 작은 하천에 대해서 높은 신뢰성을 나타내었으며, 대체적으로 기존의 경험식과 비슷한 신뢰도를 나타내었다.

Force-induced Unbinding Dynamics in a Multidimensional Free Energy Landscape

  • We examined theory for force-induced unbinding on a two-dimensional free energy surface where the internal dynamics of biomolecules is coupled with the rupture process under constant tension f. We show that only if the transition state ensemble is narrow and activation barrier is high, the f-dependent rupture rate in the 2D potential surface can faithfully be described using an effective 1D energy profile.

  • In the recent several years the theory of impulsive differential equations has made a rapid progress (see [1] and [2] and the references there). The questions of stability and periodicity of the solutions of these equations have been elaborated in sufficient details while their asymptotic behaviour has been little studied. In the present paper the asymptotic behaviour of the solutions of linear impulsive differential equations is investigated, generalizing the results of J. W. Macki and J.S. Muldowney, 1970 [3], related to ordinary differential equations without impulses.

  • In this paper we consider the problem of whether certain homogeneous or non-homogeneous differential polynomials in f(z) necessarily have infinitely many zeros. Particularly, this extends a result of Gopalakrishna and Bhoosnurmath [3, Theorem 2] for a general differential polynomial of degree $\bar{d}$(P) and lower degree $\underline{d}$(P).

  • We show that large subsets of vector spaces over finite fields determine certain point configurations with prescribed distance structure. More specifically, we consider the complete graph with vertices as the points of $A{\subseteq}F^d_q$ and edges assigned the algebraic distance between pairs of vertices. We prove nontrivial results on locating specified subgraphs of maximum vertex degree at most t in dimensions $d{\geq}2t$.

  • In this paper, we proposed a new PID tuning algorithm by the fuzzy set theory to improve the performance of the PID controller. The new tuning algorithm for the PID controller has the initial value of parameter Kc, $\tau$I, $\tau$D by the Ziegler-Nichols formula using the ultimate gain and ultimate period from a relay tuning experiment. We get error and error change of plant output correspond to the initial value and new proportion gain(Kc) and integral time($\tau$I) from fuzzy tunner. This fuzzy tuning algorithm for PID controller considerably reduced overshoot and rise time compare to any other PID controller tuning algorithms. In real parametric uncertainty systems, the PID controller with Fuzzy auto-tuning give appreciable improvement in the performance. The significant properties of this algorithm is shown by simulation In this paper, we proposed a new PID algorithm by the fuzzy set theory to improve the performance of the PID controller.

Capabilities of 1D CUF-based models to analyse metallic/composite rotors

  • The Carrera Unified Formulation (CUF) is here extended to perform free-vibrational analyses of rotating structures. CUF is a hierarchical formulation, which enables one to obtain refined structural theories by writing the unknown displacement variables using generic functions of the cross-section coordinates (x, z). In this work, Taylor-like expansions are used. The increase of the theory order leads to three-dimensional solutions while, the classical beam models can be obtained as particular cases of the linear theory. The Finite Element technique is used to solve the weak form of the three-dimensional differential equations of motion in terms of "fundamental nuclei", whose forms do not depend on the adopted approximation. Including both gyroscopic and stiffening contributions, structures rotating about either transversal or longitudinal axis can be considered. In particular, the dynamic characteristics of thin-walled cylinders and composite blades are investigated to predict the frequency variations with the rotational speed. The results reveal that the present one-dimensional approach combines a significant accuracy with a very low computational cost compared with 2D and 3D solutions. The advantages are especially evident when deformable and composite structures are analyzed.

  • In this study, an optimization design of reinforced concrete structures is performed by using the structural optimization techniques based on the LRFD criteria. The target reliability index is estimated by the optimal reliability index considering the expected cost which is taken as a sum of the structural cost and the expected costs due to failure of the structure. The load and resistance factors calculated by using level I reliability theory with the target reliability index are compared for each load combination (D+L, D+L+w). The results of this study show that the resistance factors are ${\phi}_{M}$=0.90, ${\phi}_{V}$==0.70, ${\phi}_{C}$==0.65 and the load factors are 1.20D + 1.70L, 1.07L + 0.07L + 1.10W. The optimization techinques used to this study are S.L.P. The optimization design based on the LRFD criteria is more economical and rational than other criteria.
