  • This study was started the problem consciousness on the tendency of current research which has only focused on specific school even though Salpurichum, which is passed down today, has passed through the first half of the 20th century. We can classify the data in which the tradition aspect of Salpurichum can be researched, into before and after the 1930s, the former is very faint but the latter is a national data at the national level so it is considered they can give a certain degree of trust in understanding the tradition. Even though the data before 1930s is insufficient but it possesses the historical value that tells the phenomenon of that time, this study intends to analyze while reflecting many socio-cultural contexts as much as possible, tries to understand the situation since the 1930s through the actual investigation of the survey report.

  • The art education in the latter period of the 20th century was conducted in the same cramming method as education of expressionism and pragmatism from beginning to end, while post-modernism can be interpreted as a viewpoint of reflecting the diversity, popularity and needs of the era. Under such circumstances, this research is aimed at looking for an educational method that can reflect the educational method of this present period. Thus, this research is trying to analyze the works of some artists showing a variety of styles of the post-modernism period and to inquire into a new direction at a viewpoint of the post-modernism where divers cultures co-exist. This research considered these artists' works as the objects for comparison because there exists an aspect of something in common in that there are more diverse-style-based expression in the post-modernism art education though their subject and format are different individually. Therefore, this research is conducted at a viewpoint of assisting in the understanding of more diverse style-based painting in the post-modernism education.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine to change in the Chinese women's clothing according to the inflow of Western culture in the first half of the both century As for the research method, both literature and visual data are reviewed. Research results are as follows: The Step of transition in clothing by period followed beginning stage, adopted stage, early developed stage, fully developed stage, and static stage. fully developed stage showed a perfect compromise while being applied to Chinese costume with being introduced a three-dimensional cutting method of western clothing even to the constitution as well as to the appearance. Design elements from western clothing are as follows. The transition of silhouette is box silhouette, trapeze silhouette, shift silhouette, and fitted silhouette. In detail and trimming, tailored, band, convertible, shirts collar and zigzag, scallop, camisole neckline and puff, cap sleeve and flounced, bell shaped cuffs and western button, zipper, etc. are adopted. Finally, the Chinese modern style are formed by accepting and transforming the western clothing based on the traditional Chinese clothing.

  • Lucie Rie as an individual ceramist in terms of contemporary meaning was influenced by early 20th century's academic education and the ideology of modern formative arts. Modernity in her ceramic works has had a dramatic exert on numerous potters. Also, she is highly required to be studied in the history of modern pottery as a potter who took the initiative of studio pottery by the individual artistic handicraft. This paper considered an analysis of characteristics and techniques of 20C Modernistic ceramist Lucie Rie's works and activities. The body of this research investigated classification by chronicles and stylistic characteristics of her activity in the background of early 20th century European Modernism which influenced her formative arts. In addition, this article attempted to build up more specific comprehension on Lucie Rie's works and production process through an analysis of her techniques and artistic know-how..

  • At the threshold of the 21st century People have been exploring the future of each field. Accordingly In the area of housing the increase in income level and high-technology development facilitated full scale research on the future housing. The purpose of this research is to try to set up a systematic theory on the future housing by investigating theoretical backgrounds of the future housing and development of the future housing planning concept, A document research method was used to analyze the development of the future housing planning concept of three periods from its origin in the 19th century to present : the burgeoning period growing period and maturing period.   • In the first half of 20th century, there was an abrupt change in society and social values. Therefore, a demand for functional women's sportswear started to increase. This paper has attempted to investigate the impact of functionalism on women's sportswear in the first half of the 20th century. The following results were obtained: First, anti-tradition was observed. There was a tendency to be separated from the past and against tradition. It was tried to pursue freedom, getting away from corset and petticoat. Second, structural functions were targeted. In other words, precise and efficient shapes and simple silhouette and line were emphasized. Third, fitness of purpose was found. More liberal and comfortable design has been targeted. That's why a variety of functional pants have been designed instead of skirts. Fourth, utility and practicality were found. Elastic fabrics such as wool and jersey and sweater have commonly used in sportswear. A variety of new fabrics have been used and details such as flare, slit and pleats have been designed. Lastly, non-ornamentality was found. The beauty of simple shape was pursued by omitting details or eliminating unnecessary ornaments. Monochrome and dark color were preferred and a use of accessories has declined. The result of this paper could be used in establishing a theoretical framework on the impact on social change, values and art and helpful In modern women's sportswear design and marketing which have become more important.
