  • Haemophilus K-12 producing novel sulfotransferase was isolated from mouce intestinal flora. The enzyme catalyzed the transfer of sulfate group from p-nitrophenylsulfate to phenolic compounds. The optimum medium condition for the sulfotransferase production was 0.2% sucrose, 1% yeast extract, $Na_{2}HPO_4$ and 0.5% NaCl. The enzyme production was induced by donor substrate, but was not by accepters. When p-nitrophenylsulfate was used as a donor substrate, 1-naphthol was best substrate, followed by phenol, p-acetaminophenol and tyramine.

한국의 임상과 자연환경에서 분리된 Cryptococcus neoformans의 혈청형과 효소생성능 (Serotype and Enzymatic Profile of Crypfococcus neoformans Isolates from Clinical and Environmental Sources in Korea)

  • 한국의 임상검체와 자연환경에서 분리된 Cryptococcus neoformans 58주에 대한 혈청형과 세포외효소 생성능에 관한 셍물학적 특성을 조사하였다. 환자로부터 분리된 임상균주 51주 중 48주는 혈청형 A (94.1%) 였으며 2주는 혈청형 B (3.92%),그리고 나머지 1주는 혈청형 D (1.96%)였다. 자연환경에서 분리된 7주는 비둘기 분변에서 분리된 것들이며 모두 혈정형 A였다. 모든 균주는 proteinase와 phnospholipase를 생성하였고, 또한 API-ZYM system을 이용한 19종류의 효소생성능 시험에서는 alkaline phosphatase, esterase (C4), esterase lipase (C8), leucine arylamidase, acid phosphatase, naphthol-AS-BI-phosphohydrolase, $\alpha$-glucosidase, 그리고 $\beta$-glucosidase를 생성하였으나, N-acetyl-$\beta$-glucosarninidase는 39주 (67.2%)에서만 생성하였다. 혈청형 B로 동정된 2주와 혈청형 A로 동정된 균주중 1주는$\beta$-glucuronidase를 생성하였다. 본 연구에 사용된 총21종류의 효소 생성능 시험을 기초로 하여 생물형을 구분하였는데, 모두 4가지의 유형을 나타내었고, 또한 임상과 환경균주에서 혈정형과 생물형 특성간의 유의한 상관성를 나타내었다.

  • Treeing inhibitors are added in XLPE matrix to investigate the effect on electrical properties of XLPE. The treeing inhibitors are barbituric acid, 4- (4-Nitrophenylazo) resorcinol and 4-(4-Nitrophenylazo) naphthol. Added amount of each treeing inhibitors were varied form 0phr to 2.0phr. In order to know the changes of electrical properties, break down strength, $tan{\delta}$, and ${\varepsilon}_r$ were measured. Experimental results showed that electrical properties of each sample was slightly changed by amount of additives.

  • Klebsiella K-36 producing novel sulfotransferase was isolated from rat intestinal flora. The novel sulfotransferase catalyzed the transfer of sulfate group from p-nitrophenylsulfate to phenolic compounds but it did not use PAPS(3'-phosphoadenosine 5'-phosphosulfate) as a donor substrate. The present enzyme was 160 K daltons. Optimal pH was 10. When p-nitrophenyl sulfate was used as a donor substrate, 1-naphthol was the best substrate, followed by phenol, phenanthrol and tyrosine. The apparent Km for phenol using p-nitrophenylsulfate as a donor substrate and that for p-nitrophenylsulfate using phenol as an acceptor substrate were determined to be 0.66 mM and 0.11 mM, respectively.

  • The photochromic dye(spiroxazine, Blue) as a susceptible material was synthesized by condensing 1-nitroso-$\beta$-naphthol with indoline. The melting point of the synthesized spiroxazine dye was 254$^{\circ}C$. Irradiation with ultraviolet light had effect on reversible coloration reaction. The photochromic dye microcapsules were produced by in situ polymerization using urea-formaldehyde prepolymer. The average diameter of the microcapsule was 2.94$\mu$m. The dyeability and washing fastness of the photochromic microcapsule fibers were increased by the pretreatment of cationic agent.

  • An efficient and easy method for one-pot three-component synthesis of amidoalkyl naphthols by the condensation of aromatic/heteroaromatic/aliphatic aldehydes, 2-naphthol and amides or urea under thermal condition at $60^{\circ}C$ in the presence of acidic ionic liquid 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium hydrogen sulphate ([bmim]$HSO_4$) has been described.

Interaction between Poly(vinylpyrrolidone) and Ionic Dyes in Aqueous Solution System (I)

  • The binding isotherms of ionic dyes with Poly(vinylpyrrolidone) in aqueous solution were determined by the dynamic dialysis technique. The shape of the isotherms of cationic dye, C. I. Basic Red 18 with poly(vinlypyrrolidone) showed a partition type. It suggests that the binding involves a non-cooperative mode. Isotherms of an anion dye, a synthesized dye by coupling of diazotized m-trifluoromethylaniline with 2-naphthol-6-sulfonic acid, were sigmoid type and showed multimode interaction. The results were interpreted by the McGhee von Hippel theory. The thermodynamic parameters for the complex formation of the dyes-polymer were calculated from their temperature dependences of the intrinsic binding constant.

  • A new PVC membrane electrode for $UO_2^{2+}$ ion based on 2,2'-[1,2-ethanediyl bis (nitriloethylidene)]bis(1-naphthalene) as a suitable ionophore was prepared. The electrode exhibites a Nernstian response for $UO_2^{2+}$ ion over a wide concentration range ($1.0{\times}10^{-1}-1.0{\times}10^{-7}$M) with a slope of 28.5 ${\pm}$ 0.8 mV/decade. The limit of detection is $7.0{\times}10^{-8}$M. The electrode has a response time of < 20 s and a useful working pH range of 3-4. The proposed membrane sensor shows good discriminating abilities towards $UO_2^{2+}$ ion with regard to several alkali, alkaline earth transition and heavy metal ions. It was successfully used to the recovery of uranyl ion from, tap water and, as an indicator electrode, in potentiometric titration of $UO_2^{2+}$ ion with Piroxycam.
