A Study on Increased Properties of Cellulose-Based Biodegradable Polymer Composites (셀룰로오스 기반 생분해성 고분자 복합재의 물성 증가에 관한 연구)

  • Growing environmental concerns regarding pollution caused by conventional plastics have increased interest in biodegradable polymers as alternative materials. The purpose of this study is to develop a 100% biodegradable nanocomposite material by introducing organic nucleating agents into the biodegradable and thermoplastic resin, poly(lactic acid), to improve its properties. Accordingly, cellulose nanofibers, an eco-friendly material, were adopted as a substitute for inorganic nucleating agents. To achieve a uniform dispersion of cellulose nanofibers (CNFs) within PLA, the aqueous solution of nanofibers was lyophilized to maintain their fibrous shape. Then, they were subjected to primary mixing using a twin-screw extruder. Test specimens with double mixing were then produced by injection molding. Differential scanning calorimetry was employed to confirm the reinforced physical properties, and it was found that the addition of 1 wt% CNFs acted as a reinforcing material and nucleating agent, reducing the cold crystallization temperature by approximately 14℃ and increasing the degree of crystallization. This study provides an environmentally friendly alternative for developing plastic materials with enhanced properties, which can contribute to a sustainable future without consuming inorganic nucleating agents. It serves as a basis for developing 100% biodegradable green nanocomposites.

Closure of Atrial Septal Defects through a Video-assisted Mini-thoracotomy (흉강경하 최소절개를 이용한 심방중격결손의 폐쇄)

  • Background: Minimally invasive surgery is currently popular, but this has been applied very sparingly to cardiac surgery because of some limitations. Our study evaluated the safety and efficacy of atrial septal defect (ASD) closure through a video-assisted mini-thoracotomy. Material and Method: Fifteen patients were analyzed. Their mean age was $31{\pm}6$ years. The mean ASD size was $24{\pm}5mm$ and there were 3 cases of significant tricuspid regurgitation. The working window was made through the right 4th intercostal space via a $4{\sim}5cm$ inframammary skin incision, CPB was conducted with performing peripheral cannulation. After cardioplegic arrest, the ASDs were closed with a patch (n=11) or direct sutures (n=4), and the procedures were assisted by using a thoracoscope. There were 3 cases of tricuspid repair and 1 case of mitral valve repair. The mean CPB time and aortic occlusion time were $160{\pm}47\;and\;70{\pm}26 $minutes, respectively. Result: There was no mortality, but there were 3 minor complications (one pneumothorax, one wound dehiscence and one arrhythmia). The mean hospital stay was $5.9{\pm}1.8$ days. The mean follow-up duration was $10.7{\pm}6.4$ months. The follow-up echocardiogram noted no residual ASD or significant tricuspid regurgitation. Three patients suffered from pain or numbness. Conclusion: This study showed satisfactory clinical and cosmetic results. Although the operative time is still too long, more experience and specialized equipment would make this technique a good option for treating ASD.

  • It is very important to minimize the acid value of oil in the oil and fat industry, because acid value of oil products are a indicator quality. This study was performed to investigate change of moisture content, acid value and free fatty acid content by drying condition such as drying method, temperature and drying time on steamed duck egg york. Also, change of fatty acid composition by acid value. The acid values, moisture contents and free fatty acid contents were showed comparatively lower value by spray drying and freeze drying than by steam drying. but difference that keep in mind between each drying method was not looked. Whereas moisture content, acid value and free fatty acid content of effect of drying temperature reaches in lowest value. also, did not show change until dry 12hours reaching to lowest value by 3.1, 3.0% and 0.98% after dry 9hours both moisture content, acid value and free fatty acid content. Also, acid value increase, free fatty acid was increased, where unsaturated fatty acid showed that decrease rapidly.

  • Genetic variation in the human genome occurs on various levels; from the single nucleotide polymorphism to large, microscopically visible chromosome anomalies. It can be present in many forms, including variable number of tandem repeat (VNTRs; e.g., mini- and microsatellites), presence/absence of transposable elements (e.g., Alu elements), single nucleotide polymorphisms, and structural alterations (e.g., copy number variation, segmental duplication, inversion, translocation). Until recently SNPs were thought to be the main source of genetic and phenotypic human variation. However, the use of methods such as array comparative genomic hybridization (array CGH) and fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) have revealed the presence of copy number variations(CNVs) ranging from kilobases (kb) to megabases (Mb) in the human genome. There is great interest in the possibility that CNVs playa role in the etiology of common disease such as HIV-1/AIDS, diabetes, autoimmune disease, heart disease and cancer. The discovery of widespread copy number variation in human provides insights into genetic variability among populations and provides a foundation for studies of the contribution of CNVs to evolution and disease.

분포형 수문매개변수 산정을 위한 GIS의 활용 - 금강상류유역을 중심으로 -

  • 강우시 유역 내에서 발생하는 수문특성을 구명하고자 하는 연구는 지속적으로 진행되고 있다. 특히 최근 몇년간 집중호우로 인한 홍수피해가 매우 실각한 수준으로 발생하였고, 이에 지방 소하천을 포함한 전국의 하천정비사업이 새로운 설계홍수빈도를 토대로 진행되고 있다. 우리나라의 강우특성은 여름철에 편중되는 특성을 지니고 있어 홍수시의 홍수방어 대책 등 치수에 많은 어려움이 있는 것이 현실이다. 집중호우로 인한 피해는 전 세계적인 문제로 제기되고 있으며, 이에 강우-유출 관계를 규명하고자 하는 노력이 지속적으로 이루어지고 있다. 강우-유출과정은 시간적, 공간적 다변성을 지닌 수문학적 인자에 의해 좌우되기 때문에 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위해 다년간의 강우-유출 자료를 바탕으로 알고리즘을 생성하고, 이를 바탕으로 정확한 모의가 가능한 수문 모형 및 시스템들을 개발하는데 노력을 기울이고 있다(심순보 등, 1998, 신사철 등, 2002). 그러나 이러한 모형들은 많은 매개변수와 다양한 정보들을 필요로 하게 되어 이들을 처리하는데 많은 어려움이 따른다. 따라서 최근에는 GIS(Geographical Information System)를 활용하여 유역과 분수계를 결정하고 하천형태학적인 특성인자를 추출하는 자동화된 유역정보 추출기술 개발에 대한 관심이 집중되고 있다(Bhaskar, 1992, Francisco, 1995, Yeon, 1999). 이에 본 연구에서는 GIS기법을 이용하여 지형자료로부터 하천연장, 배수면적, 지체시간, 도달시간 등 유역내의 분포형 수문매개변수를 추출하였고 추출된 매개변수를 통해 강우-유출식을 적용하여 분포형 유출량을 산정하는데 활용하고자 한다.ansverse Mercatro) 지구좌표계의 DEM 자료로 변환하였다. 또한 유역의 고도차를 이용한 흐름특성 분석을 위해 수치고도자료를 이용하여 유역흐름특성을 분석할 수 있는 TOPAZ(Topographic PArameteri-Zation) 프로그램을 이용하였다. TOPAZ 프로그램을 통해 분석된 각 격자별 분포형 수문 매개변수는 적합한 관계식을 통해 분포형 유출량을 모의하는데 적용된다.다 정확한 유입량 예측이 가능할 것으로 사료된다.이 작은 오차를 발생하였으며, 전체적으로 퍼프 모형이 입자모형보다는 훨씬 적은 수의 계산을 통해서도 작은 오차를 나타낼 수 있다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 그러나 Gaussian 분포를 갖는 퍼프모형은 전단흐름에서의 긴 유선형 농도분포를 모의할 수 없었고, 이에 관한 오차는 전단계수가 증가함에 따라 비선형적으로 증가하였다. 향후, 보다 다양한 흐름영역에서 장${\cdot}$단점 분석 및 오차해석을 수행한 후에 각각의 Lagrangian 모형의 장점만을 갖는 모형결합 방법을 제시할 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.mm/$m^{2}$로 감소한 소견을 보였다. 승모판 성형술은 전 승모판엽 탈출증이 있는 두 환아에서 동시에 시행하였다. 수술 후 1년 내 시행한 심초음파에서 모든 환아에서 단지 경등도 이하의 승모판 폐쇄 부전 소견을 보였다. 수술 후 조기 사망은 없었으며, 합병증으로는 유미흉이 한 명에서 있었다. 술 후 10개월째 허혈성 확장성 심근증이 호전되지 않아 Dor 술식을 시행한 후 사망한 예를 제외한 나머지 6명은 특이 증상 없이 정상 생활 중이다 결론: 좌관상동맥 페동맥이상 기시증은 드물기는 하나, 영유

  • 최근 들어 수자원 계획과 관리에 대한 평가를 위해 수문, 사회, 경제 및 환경 지표들을 이용하여 평가하고자 하는 노력들이 지속되고 있다. 이를 통해 수자원의 여건을 여러 지표들을 통합한 통합지표로 평가함으로서 객관적이고 투명한 결과로 도출하고자 하고 있다. 여러 국제기구 및 연구단체에서는 최근 논의가 되고 있는 지속가능한 발전을 평가하기 위해 각 국가별 자료를 수집하여 지표분석을 통해 각 국가별 상황을 제시하고 있다. 대표적인 통합지표로는 WPI(Water Poverty Index), HDI(Human Development Index)와 ESI(Environmental Sustainability Index) 등이 있으며 이 외에도 OECD, SEI 등과 같은 국제기구들이 여러개별 지표들을 통하여 지속가능성을 평가하고자 하고 있다. 또한 가상의 물 교역(virtual water trade)을 통해 개발된 지표들을 이용하여 각 나라의 수자원 현황을 평가하였다. 본 연구에서는 개발되었던 경제, 사회의 통합지표인 HDI, 환경 통합지표인 ESI, 수자원관련 통합지표인 WPI 등을 소개하고 이를 통해 우리나라의 지속가능성을 평가하여 보았다. 또한 Virtual Water Trade를 통해 국가별 수자원 현황을 평가하였고 여러 개별지표 등을 통해 수자원 뿐만 아니라 경제, 사회, 환경 등 여러분야에 대해 우리나라의 상황을 알아보았다. 이 연구를 통해 정확하게는 분석이 이루어진다고 말할 수는 없지만 정책결정에 도움을 줄 수 있는 정보를 제공하였다고 생각된다. 또한 국내, 외의 여러 지표를 통해 국내 실정에 맞는 우리나라의 수자원을 평가할 수 있는 통합적인 수자원관련 지표 개발에 많은 도움을 주었으리라 사료된다.DEM 자료로 변환하였다. 또한 유역의 고도차를 이용한 흐름특성 분석을 위해 수치고도자료를 이용하여 유역흐름특성을 분석할 수 있는 TOPAZ(Topographic PArameteri-Zation) 프로그램을 이용하였다. Comparison of the Bupropion versus Aripiprazole Adjunctive Therapy for the Treatment of Female Depression : Post-Hoc Analyses from a Randomized Prospective Open-Label Multi-Center Study (여성 우울증 환자에서 Aripiprazole과 Bupropion 부가요법의 우울증상 및 안전성에 대한 효과 비교 : 사후분석연구)

  • Objectives : The purpose of this study was to examine effects of adjunctive aripiprazole versus bupropion, on depressive symptoms of female depression. Methods : Sixty six female patients with major depressive disorders were enrolled from a six-week, randomized prospective open-label multi-center study. Participants were randomized to receive aripiprazole (2.5-10 mg/day) or bupropion (150-300 mg/day). Montgomery Asberg Depression Rating Scale, 17-item Hamilton Depression Rating scale (HAM-D17), Iowa Fatigue Scale, Drug-Induced Extrapyramidal Symptoms Scale, Psychotropic-Related Sexual Dysfunction Questionnaire scores, and Clinical Global Impression-Severity (CGI-S) were obtained at baseline and after one, two, four, and six weeks. Changes on individual items of HAM-D17 were assessed as well as on composite scales (anxiety, insomnia and drive), and on four core subscales that capture core depression symptoms. Results : Overall, both treatments improved depressive symptoms, without causing serious adverse events. There were significant differences in the HAM-D17 total score (p=0.046) and CGI-S (p=0.004), between aripiprazole and bupropion augmentation, favoring aripiprazole over bupropion. Aripiprazole revealed significantly greater effect size in depressed mood (p=0.006), retardation (p=0.005), anxiety psychic (p=0.032), and general somatic symptom (p=0.01). Conclusion : While both treatments were effective, results of this study suggested that aripiprazole may be preferable, in treating general and core symptoms of female depression.

Fabrication and characteristics of modified PZT System doped With $La_2O_3$ ($La_2O_3$가 첨가된 modified PZT계의 제조 및 특성)

  • The effect of $La_2O_3$ as a dopant on the microstructure structure, crystal structure and electrical properties was studied. $0.05Pb(Sn_{0.5}Sb_{0.5})O_3+0.11PbTiO_3+0.84PbZroO_3+0.4Wt%MnO_2$ (=0.05PSS +0.11PT+0.84PZ+0.4wt%$MnO_2$) systems doped with 0, 0.1, 0.3, 0.5, 0.7, 1, 3, 5 mole% $La_2O_3$ were fabricated and investigated sintering density, crystal structure and micro-structure. The sintered 0.05PSS+0.11PT+0.84PZ+0.4wt%$MnO_2$ system doped with $La_2O_3$showed sintering density of the range of 7.683 g/㎤ of 0 mole% doping to 7.815 g/㎤ of 0 mole% doping. The average grain sizes in the range of 0 to 5 mole% $La_2O_3$were decreased from 9.0 $\mu\textrm{m}$ to 1.3 $\mu\textrm{m}$. X-ray diffraction investigation of sintered bodies showed that solid solutions were formed between 0.05PSS+0.11PT+0.84PZ+0.4wt%$MnO_2$ system and $La_2O_3$ in the range of 0 to 1 mole% but second phases were formed in case of 3, 5 mole%. Dielectric constants at 1 kHz were increased with 0 to 3 mlole% $La_2O_3$ before and after poling at the condition of 5 $KV_{DC}$/mm at $120^{\circ}C$ or $140^{\circ}C$ during 20 minutes. All Dielectric losses at 1 kHz were less than 1%, Curie temperatures were $208^{\circ}C$, $183^{\circ}C$, $152^{\circ}C$ and $127^{\circ}C$ at 0, 0.5, 1, 3 mole% $La_2O_3$ respectively. The values of $K_p$ were increased from 0 to 3 mole% $La_2O_3$ after poling at condition of 5 $KV_{DC}$mm at the condition of $120^{\circ}C$ or $140^{\circ}C$. The case of 0.7 mole% $La_2O_3$doped 0.05PSS+0.11PT+0.84PZ+0.4wt%$MnO_2$ system showed $K_p$ of 14.5% by poling at $140^{\circ}C$ during 20 minutes.

Comparison of the Operative Results of Performing Endoscopic Robot Assisted Minimally Invasive Surgery Versus Conventional Cardiac Surgery (수술용 내시경 로봇(AESOP)을 이용한 최소 침습적 개심술과 동 기간에 시행된 전통적인 개심술의 결과에 대한 비교)

  • Background: The improvements in endoscopic equipment and surgical robots has encouraged the performance of minimally invasive cardiac operations. Yet only a few Korean studies have compared this procedure with the sternotomy approach. Material and Method: Between December 2005 and July 2007, 48 patients (group A) underwent minimally invasive cardiac surgery with AESOP through a small right thoracotomy. During the same period, 50 patients (group B) underwent conventional surgery. We compared the operative time, the operative results, the post-operative pain and the recovery of both groups. Result: There was no hospital mortality and there were no significant differences in the incidence of operative complications between the two groups. The operative $(292.7{\pm}61.7\;and\;264.0{\pm}47.9min$, respectively; p=0.01) and CPB times ($128.4{\pm}37.6\;and\;101.7{\pm}32.5min$, respectively; <0.01) were longer for group A, whereas there was no difference between the aortic cross clamp times ($82.1{\pm}35.0\;and\;87.8{\pm}113.5min$, respectively; p=0.74) and ventilator times ($18.0{\pm}18.4\;and\;19.7{\pm}9.7$ hr, respectively; p=0.57) between the groups. The stay on the ICU $(53.2{\pm}40.2\;and\;72.8{\pm}42.1hr$, respectively; p=0.02) and the hospitalization time ($9.7{\pm}7.2\;and\;14.8{\pm}11.9days$, respectively; p=0.01) were shorter for group A. The Patients in group B had more transfusions, but the difference was not significant. For the overall operative intervals, which ranged from one to four weeks, the pair score was significantly lower for the patients of group A than for the patients of group B. In terms of the postoperative activities, which were measured by the Duke Activity Scale questionnaire, the functional status score was clearly higher for group A compared to group B. The analysis showed no difference in the severity of either post-repair of mitral ($0.7{\pm}1.0\;and\;0.9{\pm}0.9$, respectively; p=0.60) and tricuspid regurgitation ($1.0{\pm}0.9\;and\;1.1{\pm}1.0$, respectively; p=0.89). In both groups, there were no valve related complications, except for one patient with paravalvular leakage in each group. Conclusion: These results show that compared with the median sternotomy patients, the patients who underwent minimally invasive surgery enjoyed significant postoperative advantages such as less pain, a more rapid return to full activity, improved cosmetics and a reduced hospital stay. The minimally invasive surgery can be done with similar clinical safety compared to the conventional surgery that's done through a median sternotomy.

THE EFFECT OF NEW BONE FORMATION OF ONLAY BONE GRAFT USING VARIOUS GRAFT MATERIALS WITH A TITANIUM CAP ON THE RABBIT CALVARIUM (가토의 두개골에서 티타늄 반구를 이용한 다양한 onlay bone graft시 골형성 능력)

  • Purpose: This study was performed to evaluate the effect of various graft materials used with a titanium cap on the ability of new bone formation in the rabbit calvarium. Materials and Methods: A total of 32 sites of artificial bony defects were prepared on the calvaria of sixteen rabbits by using a trephine bur 8 mm in diameter. Each rabbit had two defect sites. 0.2 mm deep grooves were formed on the calvaria of sixteen rabbits by using a trephine bur 8 mm in diameter for the fixation of a titanium cap. The treatments were performed respectively as follows: without any graft for the control group (n=8), autogenous iliac bone graft for experimental group 1 (n=8), alloplastic bone graft ($SynthoGraft^{(R)}$, USA) for experimental group 2 (n=8), and xenogenic bone graft ($NuOss^{(R)}$, USA) for experimental group 3 (n=8). After the treatments, a titanium cap (8 mm in diameter, 4 mm high, and 0.2 mm thick) was fixed into the groove. At the third and sixth postoperative weeks, rabbits in each group were sacrificed for histological analysis. Results: 1. In gross examination, the surgical sites showed no signs of inflammation or wound dehiscence, and semicircular-shaped bone remodeling was shown both in the experimental and control groups. 2. In histological analysis, the control group at the third week showed bone remodeling along the inner surface of the cap and at the contact region of the calvarium without any specific infiltration of inflammation tissue. Also, there was no soft tissue infiltration. Bone remodeling was observed around the grafted bone and along the inner surface of the titanium cap in experimental group 1, 2, and 3. 3. Histologically, all groups at the sixth week showed the increased area of bone remodeling and maturation compared to those at the third week. In experimental group 2, the grafted bone was partially absorbed by multi nucleated giant cells and new bone was formed by osteoblasts. In group 3, however, resorption of the grafted bone was not observed. 4. Autogenous bone at the third and sixth week showed the most powerful ability of new bone formation. The size of newly formed bone was in decreasing order by autogenous, alloplastic, and heterogenous bone graft. There was no statistically significant difference among autogenous, alloplastic, and heterogenous bones(p>0.05). Summary: This result suggests that autogenous bone is the best choice for new bone formation, but when autogenous bone graft is in limited availability, alloplastic and xenogenic bone graft also can be an alternative bone graft material to use with a suitably guided membrane.
