  • This paper describes an on-going national R&D program for the development of a gas turbine/fuel cell hybrid power generation system and related R&D activities. The final goal of this program is to develop a 200kW-c1ass gas turbine/fuel cell hybrid power generation system and achieve high efficiency over $60\%$ (AC/LHV). In the first phase of the development, a sub-scaled 60kW-class hybrid system based on the 50kW-class microturbine and the 5kW SOFC will be developed for the purpose of concept proof of the hybrid system. Core components such as the microturbine and the SOFC system are being developed and parallel preparation for system integration is being carried out. Before the core components are assembled in the final system. operating characteristics of a hybrid system are investigated from a simulated system where a turbocharger (microturbine simulator) and a modified fuel cell burner test facility (fuel cell simulator) are employed. The 60kW demonstration unit will be built up and operated to provide the valuable information for the preparation of the final full scale 200kW hybrid system.

  • In this paper, an active snubber type flyback converter was applied to a 60W class adapter and its test results are reported by producing a prototype. Especially, the prototype of the adapter was designed for both input voltage of 110V and 220V. The output voltage was designed for 60W with 19V class which is the most commonly used in laptops. The prototype was designed to a volume of about $50cm^3$ and a power density of about $1.22W/cm^3$ to minimize the size and verify portability. The maximum efficiency of the prototype was 90.88% at its maximum load of 60W against input voltage change and 91.04% was observed at 60W under input voltage of 220V. Furthermore, the stability of the output voltage against load power was observed to be within about 0.07%.

  • A vibration monitoring is performed on a 1kW class stand alone wind turbine(W/T). When a W/T model is developed, general performance under various wind condition should be verified to introduce the product in the market. Especially, vibration characteristics within operating speed range are very important in the aspect of structural stability as well as generator's electrical efficiency. This paper examines the vibration performance of a home made 1kW W/T. Various data of the W/T model are acquired in real time using a remote vibration monitoring system installed in Daekwanryung test site. Vibration stability of the W/T structure is diagnosed based upon the data and the result is used to estimate the applicability of the W/T model.

  • There are increasing demands on high accruacy DC power supplies for varous basic science reseach, such as accelerators and plasma applications, in Korea. In this paper, we present a study on 1kW class DC power supply using the parell operation method of the flyback converters. This DC power supply is equipped with a remote controller for computer interface. A Serial Communication Controller(SCC) is also developed for large scale scientific facilities which is capable of handling upto 32 power supplies simultaneously with one serial port in the host computer.

  • Earlier in 1935[12], M. S. Robertson introduced the class of quadrant preserving functions. More precisely, let Q be the class of all functions f(z) analytic in the unit disk $D = {z : $\mid$z$\mid$ < 1}$ such that f(0) = 0, f'(0) = 1, and the range f(z) is in the j-th quadrant whenever z is in the j-th quadrant of D, j = 1,2,3,4. This class Q contains the subclass of normalized, odd univalent functions which have real coefficients. On the other hand, this class Q is contained in the class T of odd typically real functions which was introduced by W. Rogosinski [13]. Clearly, if $f \in Q$, then f(z) is real when z is real and therefore the coefficients of f are all real. Recently, it was observed by Y. Abu-Muhanna and T. H. MacGregor [1] that any function $f \in Q$ is odd. Instead of functions "preserving quadrants", the authors [1] have introduced the notion of "preserving sectors".

  • Design of 500W class UMGT(Ultra Micro Gas Turbine) for power generation is conducted. Basic design parameters are obtained by cycle analysis. Off-design performances are predicted by 1D aerodynamic design and 1D performance analysis of compressor and turbine. 3D impellers are designed and 3D performance analysis is carried out to predict the performance characteristics of UMGT. 1D and 3D performance analysis show similar results. Structure analysis is conducted to select materials. Titanium Alloy is proposed for structural stability.

  • In this paper, the propagation effect of power supply uncertainty on the output of class-F power amplifier has been estimated. Also, a 1.9 GHz, 10 watt class-F power amplifier was measured to verify the estimation and to find the optimal biasing point. By approximating the propagation theory of uncertainties, the propagation effect of bias uncertainty was mathmatically calculated. As a result, the DC biases have propagated uncertainties of 15~70 mW. However, at the optimized bias point, the uncertainty in the output power could be dropped less than 15 mW while the output power has dropped by 0.37 dB.
