  • In this paper, a CPW-fed dual-band monopole antenna with two branch strips for WLAN(Wireless Local Area Networks) applications was designed, fabricated and measured. The proposed antenna is based on a CPW-feeding structure, and composed of two branch strips and then designed and tuned the length of two branch lines to obtained required frequencies bands. To obtain the optimized parameters, we used the simulator, Ansoft's High Frequency Structure Simulator(HFSS) and carried out simulation about parameters $L_5$, $L_8$, $W_3$, $W_5$, $W_9$. The proposed antenna is fabricated on the FR-4 substrate using the obtained parameters. The numerical and experiment results demonstrated that the proposed antenna obtained the -10 dB impedance bandwidth 1,095 MHz (1.57~2.665 GHz) for 2.4 GHz band and 1,680 MHz (4.99~6.67 GHz) for 5 GHz band satisfied requirement while simultaneously covering the WLAN bands. And characteristics of gain and radiation patterns are determined for WLAN operating bands.

  • In this paper, the simplified design methodology for rotation of polarization plane using a square waveguide is proposed. In order to optimize the characteristics of $180^{\circ}$ polarizer operating from 14.3GHz to 14.8GHz in Ku-band, the modified mode matching method and piecewise power tower interpolation are applied to the polarizer design. The optimized results show that the frequency bandwidth in VSWR<2 has covered 500MHz in the Ku-band and phase difference between two orthogonal modes $TE_{10}$and $TE_{01}$ is $180^{\circ}{\pm}1^{\circ}$ in the range of 14.3GHz~14.8GHz. The cross polarization loss has obtained below 40dB and the insertion loss has 0.1dB in the passband. Therefore, the proposed polarizer is suitable for practical Ku-band system requiring the low VSWR and compact size.

  • This paper proposes an antenna that is located outside the PCB substrate of an electronic product to enable wireless communication in the ISM band. The PCB designed the T-shaped OPEN-STUB power supply line to be miniaturized so that it does not interfere with parts or interfere with design. The characteristics of the antenna were confirmed in the 2.4GHz and 5.8GHz bands using a T-shaped stub feeder and a spiral structure. The size of the antenna is 5mm in width × 6.5mm in length, and the thickness of the PCB is 1.2T. As a result of measurement of the manufactured antenna, it was possible to obtain a return loss of -10dB or more at 2.4GHz and 5.8GHz. In the E-plane, the gain was -4.45 dBi, and in the H-plane, the gain was -1.05 dBi. Therefore, the proposed small antenna for wireless communication showed excellent performance.

  • In this paper, we studied the design and fabrication of array antenna at around 1.8 GHz band. To improve of frequency properties of antenna, single feed microstrip patch antenna was simulated by HFSS(High Frequency Structure Simulator). A $1{\times}2$ array antenna of 1.8 GHz for LTE band was designed and fabricated by photolithography on an FR4 substrate (dielectric constant of 4.4 and thickness of 0.8 mm). The fabricated antenna was analyzed by network analyzer. The measured results agree well with the simulations, which confirmed the validity of this study. The fabricated $1{\times}2$ array antenna showed a center frequency, the minimum return loss and impedance were 1.82GHz, -30.5dB, and $49.6{\Omega}$ respectively.

  • A microstrip band-pass filter using cross-coupled resonators is designed and studied experimentally. The cross-coupled microstrip hairpin resonator filters exhibit ripples in both passband and stopband. These ripples can improve both frequency selectivity and insertion loss. The cross-coupled filters are not only simple and compact in configuration, but also have great flexibility to form filters into a variety of size. In this paper, a microstrip band-pass filter using cross-coupled resonators is designed at the center frequency of 1.8GHz with bandwidth of 5.0% using Ensemble software. The experimental results show that the bandwidth is about 4.53% at 1.8GHz.

The power amplifier is targeted for 70 GHz frequency band and fabricated using 65 nm technology. The measurement results show 8.5 dB maximum voltage gain at 71.3 GHz and 7.3 GHz 3 dB bandwidth. The measured maximum output power is 8.2 dBm, input $P_{1dB}$ is -2.8 dBm, output $P_{1dB}$ is 4.6 dBm and maximum power added efficiency is 4.9 %. The power amplifier consumes 102 mW DC power from 1.2 V supply voltage.

  • The design, numerical simulation, and an experimental implementation of two-element cross-shaped microstrip line-fed printed slot array antenna for IMT-2000 at the 2.0 GHz band is presented in this paper. The proposed antenna with relative permittivity 4.3 and thickness 1.0mm is analyzed by the Finite-Difference Time-Domain (FDTD) method. It was shown that the measured 2.0 VSWR bandwidth of one-element microstrip slot antenna is from 1.42 GHz to 2.69 GHz, which is approximately 61.8% and that of two-element microstrip slot array antenna is from 1.42 GHz to 2.56 GHz, which is approximately 57.3% And it was shown that the measured gain of one-element microstrip slot antenna is 2.75 dBi and that of two-element microstrip slot antenna is 4.75 dEi. The antennas were fabricated and tested. The measured results are in good agreements with the FDTD results.

  • Microstrip interdigital filter is designed with the width and length of a resonator, the gap distance between resonators and the location of a tap. When designing filters, it is a benefit to design with few design parameters comparing to many design parameters. In this paper we design and implement two microstrip interdigital filters operating in the UWB(Ultra Wide-Band) frequency band, one using a fixed width of a resonator and the other using a different width of resonators. The test results of the implemented filters show that the low-band high filter with a fixed width has the insertion loss of 1.49dB, -10dB band width of 720MHz, -35.7dBattenuation at 4.8GHzand below -13dB of S11. The filter with a different width of resonators has the insertion loss of 1.6dB, -10dBbandwidth of 1.63GHz and below-8dBof S11.
