  • Knowledge of the moisture sorption properties of a material is essential for optimal material development and analysis of the delamination failure caused by vapor pressure at the interlayer during the manufacturing process of integrated packaging devices. In this paper, both temperature dependent absorption and desorption properties according to temperature and humidity model are parameterized and the effects of water activities and temperature are discussed. The activation energy obtained from the parameterized diffusivity determines the acceleration factor for the equivalency of moisture sorption levels, which enables the effect of moisture diffusivity on the equivalent elapsed testing time required for evaluating the reliable life time to be estimated. The acceleration factor evaluated at the reliability testing standard of the flexible packaging module is exampled.

  • In this study, we have evaluated the water absorption phenomenon of photoresist dry film, which is commonly used to build circuits on PCB (Printed Circuit Board) by photolithography, by using ATR-FTIR (Attenuated Total Reflectance-Fourier Transform Infrared). We have firstly observed significant change in fracture mode of dry film with respect to temperature and humidity, which we assumed the material transition from ductile to brittle. Secondly, we have established the process of absorption test for determining the diffusion coefficients of water into the dry film both with gravimeter and ATR-FTIR. We have successfully calculated the diffusion coefficients for each environmental conditions from the results which we achieved by gravimeter and ATR-FTIR. Compared to the gravimeter which is a conventional method for absorption test, the ATR-FTIR method in this study has been found to be very easy to use and have the same accuracy as gravimeter. Moreover, we are expecting to use the ATR-FTIR as an appropriate method to study the absorption phenomena related to any kinds of solvent and polymer system.

Experimental and Theoretical Study on Silica Gel Regeneration (실리카 젤의 재생에 관한 실험적 및 이론적 연구)

  • 현재 선진국에서 널리 이용되고있는 곡물의 화력건조는 곡물의 품질을 손상시킬 뿐만 아니라 손실을 증가시키고 있다. 화력에 의한 건조는 또한 연료의 절약면에서 볼 때 역시 문제점을 내포하고있다.l 이러한 문제점들을 해결하기 위하여 근래에는 실리카 젤과 같은 흡습성의 건조제를 사용한 곡물의 건조 실험이 진행 중에 있으며 좋은 결과를 보여주고 있다. 실리카겔은 그 자체무게의 40% 까지 동적 및 정적하에서 수분을 흡수하는 성질을 가지고 있으며 일단 포화상태가 되면 수천번 재생이 가능하다. 본 연구에서는 이와같은 실리카텍의 재생실험을 일차적으로 실내에서 공기의 온도를 일정하게 한 상태에서 실시하였으며 일반적으로 실리카 젤은 $300^{\circ}F$에서 완전재생이 가능하나 본 실험에서 사용된 재생온도는 평면식 태양열 집열기로부터 얻을 수 있는 $150^{\circ}F$ 내외에서 시도하였다. 본실험과 병행하여 건조중 공기와 실리카 젤의 에너지 및 질량변화에 따른 이론식을 만들어 주어진 여러 가지 조건에 대하여 4개의 미분방정식을 컴퓨터에 의하여 해결하였으며 건조(재생) 시간에 따른 공기의 온도와 흡습 및 실리카 젤의 함수량을 구하였다. 위의 이론적인 분석결과는 후에 태양열집열기를 이용한 재생실험을 분석하는데 적용될 것이다. 본 연구결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 1. 본 연구에서 유도한 이론식은 실리카 젤의 재생온도를 만족스럽게 표시하였으며 재생시간에 따른 공기의 온도와 흡습 및 실리카 젤의 함수량변화의 이론치는 실험치와 근사하였다. 2. 이론치와 실험치를 일치시키기위하여 흡착온도에서 산출된 열 및 질량 전달계수를 1/5로 조정 사용하였다. 3. 실리카 젤은 $120^{\circ}F$에서 9 %, $180^{\circ}F$에서 1% 내외로 재생이 가능하였다. 4. 본 연구에서 유도된 이론적 분석방법은 다른 여러 가지 형태의 물질 및 건조 또는 냉각 과정을 분석하는데 사용될 수 있다.

Kinetic Study for Hygroscopic Behavior of Freeze Dried Soy Paste Powder (동결건조 분말된장의 흡습 거동에 대한 속도론적 연구)

  • Two kinds of soy pastes with different colors (reddish brown and yellowish white) were dehydrated by freeze drying in powder form. Hygroscopic behaviors of powdered soy pastes were investigated under the conditions of various water acitivities (0.11-0.88) and three different temperatures (25,40 and $50^{\circ}C$), and presented a kinetic and thermodynamic interpretatons in the view point of qualities and storage stability. Moisture absorption isotherms of powdered soy pastes were of type II according with BET classification and can be described by the Henderson's empirical equation. The safe storage moisture levels calculated by the Laurie's equation were ranging from 5.5 to 3.98% dry basis with oaring temperatures. The moisture absorption process for powdered soy paste followed the Ist order kinetic in the difference of equilibrium moisture content and arbitrary moisture content and the initial step was characterized by very fast absorption of moisture. The change of, dispersion capacity and color difference for powdered soy paste were extremely dependent upon water activity under the storage and the maximum stability was found at safe storage moisture levels. Also, the variation of thermodynamic parameters with moisture content was significant at safe storage moisture content levels and suggested d the considerable correspondence to storage stability of powdered soy paste.

Effect of Postharvest High CO2 Treatment and Anti-moisture Pad on the Quality of Fresh Oyster Mushroom during Export Simulation (모의 수출 조건에서 수확 후 CO2와 부직포 패드 처리가 느타리버섯 품질에 미치는 영향)

  • This study was aimed to find factors responsible for export potential of oyster mushroom through postharvest treatments including high pressure $CO_2$ and anti-moisture pad. Temperature fluctuation during export simulation induced the condensation of excess moisture resulting in the quality loss due to browning and decay. Anti-moisture pad was effective on inhibition of browning occurrence in part. High temperature exposure ($15^{\circ}C$) as retail simulation greatly offset the positive effect of anti-moisture pad. Short term treatment of high pressure $CO_2$ delayed the surface color changes as hunter L, a, and b values. There was no consistent tendency in total sugar and phenolics between treatments. In general, the export potential of small size mush-room (export size) at harvest was higher than large ones (domestic size). The major factors asso-ciated with the quality decrease of oyster mushroom during export were moisture condensation in packages and temperature fluctuation. Further research is required to improve mushroom export procedures.

Moisture Sorption Characteristics of Lactobacillus brevis-fermented Sea Tangle Saccharina japonica, Mekabu Fucoidan, and These Mixture Powders (발효 다시마(Saccharina japonica) 분말, 미역귀 후코이단 분말 및 이들 혼합분말의 수분 흡습 특성)

  • The goal of this study was to investigate moisture sorption characteristics of Lactobacillus brevis-fermented sea tangle Saccharina japonica, Mekabu fucoidan, and these mixture powders. Moisture sorption isotherms of powders were determined at 37℃ using the static gravimetric technique in a water activity (aw) range of 0.11-0.93. Equilibrium moisture content (Xeq) values of the fermented sea tangle powder were almost 3 times when aw<0.7 and increased upto almost 4 times when aw<0.9 higher than mekabu fucoidan powder. In these reason, to improve strong hygroscopic nature of the fermented sea tangle powder, fermented sea tangle and mekabu fucoidan powders were dissolved as ratios of 7:3, 5:5, and 3:7 (w/w) in a distilled water and then freeze dried. Xeq values of mixture powders were around average value of sum of both powders at all aw ranges. All moisture sorption isotherms of powders exhibited typical J-shaped type III. Xeq of mixture powders increased with increasing aw and decreased as increasing proportion of mekabu fucoidan powder. The Peleg model was found to accurately describe moisture sorption isotherms of powders. The results can be used to understand hygroscopic nature of powders, improve shelf life, and retain quality across postharvest processing.

  • To compare the keeping quality of freeze and spray dried red ginseng extract powders(RGEPs) and commercial dehydrated tea products, particle sizes and initial moisture contents of these products were measured, and the relationships between crude fat contents and moisture contents and/or densities were studied. Particle sires of RGEPs and commercial dehydrated tea products were below 100 mesh, and particle sizes of freeze dried products were higher than those of spray dried products. Initial moisture contents of freeze and spray dried RGEPz were 3.587 and 4.56f, and those of frecze and spray dried coffees were 2.17% and 3.52%, respectively. Crude fat contents of tang and ssanghwa tea were 4.12% and 0.62%, and densities of tang and ssanghwa tea were 0.89 g/ml and 0.59 g/ml, respectively. Absorption rates o( tang and ssanghwa tea were the lowest among these products, it was considered because of crude fat contents of tang and ssanghwa tea were higher than these of the other products, and densities of tang and ssanghwa tea were higher than these of the other products. Notwithstanding absorption rates of RGEPs were lower than those of coffees, to maintain lower keeping quality of RGEPs than that of coffees, it was considered that HGEPs are not only lower to coffees in crude fat contents but also in densities. A sinificant relationships were found between keeping Quality and crude fat content and/or density.

  • 농산물 포장화물의 경우 농산물의 손상은 겉포장 상자의 파손에 의한 압상이 주요 원인이다. 따라서 농산물 상자의 경우 압축강도를 특히 중요시 여기고 있으며, 한국산업규격을 비롯해 각종 농산물 관련 규정에서는 압축강도에 의한 상자의 품질관리를 규정화 하고 있다. 골판지 상자의 압축강도는 원단인 골판지의 구성 원지들(라이너, 골심지)의 품질과 이들의 구성 형태 및 상자의 외형 치수 비율에 따라 결정되므로, 원지의 링크라쉬(ring crush), 원단의 수직압축강도(edgewise compression strength)를 통해 상자의 압출강도를 관리하는 것이 보통이다. 또한 골판지 상자는 제작 후 유통 과정을 거치면서, 여러 요인에 의해 압축강도가 현격하게 저하되는데, 이중 수분 흡습에 의한 강도저하와 장기 누적하중, 진동 및 충격 등의 피로로 인한 강도 저하가 가장 크다. 여러 산업 분야에서 골판지 상자의 견고성 문제는 물품의 내수 및 수출시 제품에 대한 신뢰성 확보와 기업의 이미지 제고와 직결되는 중요한 사항이다. 특히, 세계 각 국의 농산물 시장이 개방됨에 따라 우리나라 농산물의 수출도 확대될 전망이고 또한 마땅한 대체재가 개발되지 않는 한 골판지 상자의 이용은 날로 증가될 것으로 전망된다. 따라서 골판지 상자의 압축강도와 내구성 향상에 대한 다각적인 연구가 절실하다.   • The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of microencapsulation on the water absorption, DPPH radical scavenging activity (DRSA), hydroxyl radical scavenging activity (HRSA) and tyrosinase inhibition activity (TIA) in corn silk extracts. The lowest value (0.20) of water absorption index (WAI) and the highest value (95.23%) of water solubility index (WSI) were maltodextrin+cyclodextrin microencapulated corn silk extracts (MD+CD) and cyclodextrin encapulated corn silk extracts (CD), respectively. The 18.60% for DRSA value of control was increased to 89.25% for that of CD. The 16.89% for HRSA value of control was increased to 47.46%, and 7.16% for TIA value of control was increased to 39.35% for that of MD+CD, respectively. The MD+CD would be used for functional food and cosmetics materials as antioxidant and skin whitening agents. All investigated responses between control and treatment were statistically significant (p<0.05).

Moisture Diffusion Analysis for Bendable Electronic Module Under Autoclave Test Condition (유연성 전자모듈에 대한 오토클레이브 시험조건에서의 습기확산해석)

  • A bendable electronic module is developed for a mobile application by using a low-cost roll-to-roll manufacturing process. In the module, a thin silicon chip is embedded in a polymer-based encapsulating adhesive between flexible copper clad polyimide layers. A set of tests are conducted for the purpose of qualification: thermal shock, high temperature storage, and autoclave tests. During the autoclave test, delamination occurs at many places within the module layers. To investigate the failure mechanism, moisture diffusion analysis is conducted for the interior of the module under the autoclave test condition. For the analysis, the hygroscopic characteristics of the encapsulating materials are experimentally determined. Analysis results indicate the moisture saturation process in the interior of the module under the autoclave test condition.
