To isolate and identify degradation products of propanil in solution which propanil concentration was 2000ppm with a certain temperature, degradation products and pathway were investigated every 2 weeks for 12 weeks. Extracted mixture was developed with benzene on TLC plate, and Rf values of isolated DCA and TCAB were 0.65 and 0.94 respectively. At the GC analysis, propanil and its degradation products could seperate at the column temperature $200^{\circ}C$, but in order to more good resolution, the column temperature of DCA and TCAB was $140^{\circ}C$ and $250^{\circ}C$ respectively. Functional group of OCA was determined by IR spectrum $3400cm^{-1}$ and $800cm^{-1}$. Proton peaks of OCA were NMR spectrum $6.7{\delta}$ and $3.7{\delta}$. As the results, the major degradation products of propanil in solution were seperated on TLC plate, and thus identified by the analysis of GC, IR and NMR. Proposed degradation pathway of propanil in solution was from DCA to TCAB.

Since the short-wave infrared spectrum has a significant range of variation depending on the production environment, countries with advanced resource exploration are collecting the spectrum and building a database. Representative organizations include the USGS and CSIRO, and they are currently carrying out a project in China that can synthesize and use a large number of existing data. The USGS library provides a total of 2,457 spectra targeting not only minerals but also various materials that respond to infrared radiation. Among these, there are 1,276 mineral spectra, which are about half of the total. The spectrum title includes information, such as analysis devices (NIC4, BECK, ASDNG, etc.), purity codes (a, b, c, d, u), and measurement methods (AREF, RREF, RTGC, TRAN). Analyzed raw data are provided in ASCII and GIF format. The CSIRO library has a total of 502 spectra, of which the majority, 493, correspond to mineral spectra. The USGS library is a free, publically available resource, while the CSIRO library is bundled with TSG8 or must be purchased separately. Among these, when comparing the eight spectra whose spectral shapes can be analyzed with the spectra of domestic illite, the positions of the absorption peaks are significantly different from those of domestic illite, except for one Japanese illite. Additional research will be needed to determine the causes of such differences, and the domestically relevant databases should be established as well.
Gel filtration column chromatography (Sephadex G-75), dialysis an d Brushite column chromatography were carried out to separate the brown pigmented macromolecule from water extracts of the cured leaf tobaccos. The two distinct macromolecules having different molecular weight were separated by the Sephadex column chromatography. Brushite also separated two different species of macromolecules which might have different electronic structures. According to the enzymatic degradation of protein in Burley and Hicks, chymotrypsin showed the best degradation ratio, ie., 16-30% in Burley and 38-57% in Hicks. Similar effect was observed with pepsin. However, very low effect of degradation was revealed with trypsin. The sample treated with the proteolytic enzymes revealed the disappearance of the first peak and the slight decrease of the 2nd peak height in the separation profile of Sephadex. After dialysis, the brown pigmented macromolecule was pyrolyzed at $300^{\circ}C$ and the strongly fluorescent components not identified before pyrolysis were detected with TLC separation. Absorption spectrum of these fluorescent compounds was monitored in benzene and the absorption maxima at 265nm and 275 nm were obtained. Considering absorption maxima and shape of the spectrum, those fluorescent compounds seem to be PAH derivatives.

Physicochemical characteristics of pigment separated from cockle shell were studied. Pigment on the cockle shell was peeled with distilled water, and soaked in 4% TCA solution for 30 minutes and filtered. Filtrate was washed 3 times with distilled water and Iyophilized. Dried pigment was dissolved with 2N NaOH solution and preparative TLC with 2N NaOH : acetone(1 : 1). UV/vis spectrum of pigment separated from cockle shell and melanin as standard was same one peak at UV area and λ$_{max}$was 226nm. Dissolved property of pigment was same as that of melanin. Pigment was not ommochrome but like melanin, because it was insoluble in formic acid, whitening in $H_2O_2, $ and pattern of UV-spectrum was same as melanin. Pigment separated from cockle shell was stable at high temperatures. In thermal treatment at $70^{\circ}C, $$80^{\circ}C, $$90^{\circ}C$ and $100^{\circ}C$ for 8 hours, retention ratio of pigment separated from cockle shell were 95.0%, 93.3%, 90.8% and 87.6%, respectively.

For the development of the anti-obesity natural drug, the inhibitor of adipocyte differentiation was screened from Korean traditional medicinal plants. Phellodendri Cortex was selected as a candidate of adipocyte differentiation inhibitor. An inhibitory compound PC-4 was purified from the methanol (MeOH) extract of Phellodendri Cortex using silica gel and ODS RP-18 column chromatography and HPLC. PC-4 was obtained as yellow powder; UV ${\lambda}_{max}$ (MeOH): 230, 260, 340 and 430 nm. The chemical structure of PC-4 was determined as an isoquionoline alkaloid, berberine, on the basis of various NMR experiments including $^1H-\;and\;^{13}C-NMR$. The PC-4 inhibited the differentiation of preadipocyte NIH-3T3 L1 cells at a concentration of $1\;{\mu}g/mL$.
Single crystalline, $LuFe_2O_4$, was grown by the floating zone method. The crystal structure was a two-dimensional layered-type rhombohedral($R\={3}mh$) structure, with an $a_0=3.440(2)\;{\AA}\;and\;a\;c_0=25.263(2)\;{\AA}$. The magnetic $N\'{e}el$ temperature($T_N$) was determined to be 250 K. The $M\"{o}ssbauer$ spectrum at 12 K was fitted with four sextet sets which was resulted from the crystal structure. The spectrm at room temperature consisted of three singlets and a doublet with the electric quadrupole splitting. The isomer shift($\delta$) value of the singlet was $0.20{\pm}0.01mm/s$ relative to the Fe metal indicating the $Fe^{3+}$ valence state, and the value of the doublet was $0.70{\pm}0.01mm/s$ indicating $Fe^{2+}$. The $M\"{o}ssbauer$ absorption area ratio between $Fe^{3+}$ and $Fe^{2+}$ at room temperature was 1:1. The doublet phase of spectra gradually disappears by up to 360 K. At 360 K, the spectrum shows the singlet phase. We suggested that the spontaneous polarization effect of $LuFe_2O_4$ was caused by the change of iron behavior.
Essentials of understanding the geochemical evolution and geophysical processes in Earth's system are macroscopic properties and atomistic (and electronic) structures of Earth materials. Recent advances in quantum calculations based on the density functional theory allow us to unveil the previously unknown details of local atomic structures in diverse silicates in Earth's interior. Here, we report the O K-edge ELNES (energy-loss near-edge structure; ELNES) spectra and PLDOS (partial local density of states) for oxygen atoms in ${\alpha}$-quartz and stishovite using the quantum calculations based on FP-LAPW (full potential linearized augmented plane wave). The calculated O K-edge ELNES spectrum of ${\alpha}$-quartz shows a strong peak at ~538 eV due to comer-sharing oxygen linking two $SiO_4$ tetrahedra and that for stishovite shows two distinct peaks at ~537 and ~543 eV corresponding to edge-sharing oxygen linking $SiO_6$ octahedra. The significant differences in spectral features of O K-edge ELNES spectra suggest that the O K-edge features can be useful indicator to distinguish various oxygen sites in diverse crystal and amorphous silicates in the Earth's interior.
The synthesis of $SrAI_2O_4:Eu^{2+}$ phosphor and its properties of both photoluminescence and long-phosphorescent were investigated as a function of sintering condition. Single phase of $SrAl_2O_4$ was obtained by sintering the mixtures of $SrCO_3$, $Eu_2O_3$, $AI_2O_34 and 3wt% $B_2O_3$ powders over 100$0^{\circ}C$ in Ar/H2 atmosphere. The optimum sintering condition for the long-phosphorescent phosphor of $SrAI_2O_4:Eu^{2+}$ was found at 130$0^{\circ}C$ for 3hours. The PL emission spectrum of $SrAI_2O_4:Eu^{2+}$ shows a maximum peak intensity at 520nm(2.384eV) with a broad emission extending from 450 to 650nm which resulted from the $4f^65d^1$$\rightarrow$$4f^7$ transition of $Eu^{+2}$ under 360nm exitation. Monitored at 520nm. the excita¬tion spectrum of $SrAI_2O_4:Eu^{2+}$ exhibits a maximum peak intensity at 360nm (3.44eV) with a broad absorption band extending from 250 to 480nm.
Ethylenediamine-triacetatocobalt (III) complexes with an ammine, an ethylene-diamine, and a trimethylenediamine as the unidentate ligand were prepared, and were isolated as only one isomer for each case by the Dowex 50W-X8, cation exchange resin in $H^+$ form. The geometrical isomer of these complexes have been assigned cis-equatorial form in the three possible geometrical isomers from the elemental analysis, pH titration, IR, NMR, and electronic absorption spectrum. It was found that $[CoN_3O_3]$ system of the meridional form with multidentate ligand have the first absorption band of the largely splitting pattern, and that the diamines (ethylenediamine, trimethylenediamine) have coordinated to the central cobalt (III) ion as a unidentate ligand.
In order to further elucidate the process of electron solvation in liquids, the medium effect, as the difference between the free energy of $H^+$ in aqueous and non-aqueous states (${\Delta}{\Delta}G_0$), of THF-water mixtures has been investigated. (${\Delta}{\Delta}G_0$) were determined by electromotive force masurements of the cell Pt$H_2Q$, Q, HCI, THF, $H_2O$|KC1 | $Hg_2Cl_2$|Hg(Pt), where $H_2Q$ and Q are hydroquinone and quinone respectively. The effect of dielectric constant on the difference of free energy and the absorption energy of solvated electrons have been studied. For the consideration of these effect the polymerization of water in THF has been studied. Near infrared spectrum of O-H stetching energy has been used to measure the extent of water aggregates. The expermental results indicate that at least in some composition of binary mixtures the electrons or other ions are solvated preferentially with one component of solvents.
