Effects of Human Resource Flexibilty of Employees of Security Industry on Organizational Performance and Innovative Behavior (시큐리티업무 종사자의 인적자원 유연성이 조직성과 및 혁신행동에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was conducted to examine how human resource flexibility of security workers affects organizational performance and innovation behavior. A total of 350 copies of questionnaires were collected and collected in 340 copies of the security workers. A total of 335 questionnaires, except 5, which were unsatisfactory in the questionnaire or whose answers were missing, were analyzed for frequency, correlation, and multiple regression using the SPSS 19.0 program.The following conclusions were drawn. First, the flexibility of human resources of security workers has a positive effect on organizational performance. Second, human resource flexibility of security workers has a positive effect on innovation behavior. Third, the organizational performance of security workers has a positive effect on innovation behavior. In other words, both human resource flexibility and organizational performance are crucial factors for innovation behavior, and organizational performance plays an important role in innovation behavior. In conclusion, for the development of the security industry, it is necessary to manage human resource flexibility in order to develop and motivate innovation capability through education and continuous training of workers.

A Study on the Optimal Water Supply using Virtual Drought Exercise with Hydrological Drought Index (수문학적 가뭄지수와 가상가뭄훈련에 의한 저수지의 최적 물 공급 방안 연구)

  • Drought is a natural phenomena caused by long time lack of precipitation causing varying damages in several regions which increases yearly. Specifically, in 1994$\sim$1995 and 2001 severe drought occurred in almost every region of Korea. Small and medium sized water supply reservoirs exposed their bottoms and also raised considerable economic losses. In spite of this fact, damages and impacts from the drought can still be minimized by well defined drought management plans with optimal management of water supply facilities. Throughout this research, integrated drought information system is proposed to used in monitoring the drought of Korea in real time. And the expert system for the management of water supply facilities has developed using Shared Vision Model (SVM) to enable the Virtual Drought Exercise (VDE). To find a better way to manage water during drought and to develop the enhanced abilities to respond to drought, virtual drought exercise is the most effective approach and process. The proposed process of virtual drought exercise using integrated drought information system can be used as an effective tool to prepare the optimal water supply plans during the drought.

Hand Hygiene Compliance of Healthcare Workers in a Children's Hospital (소아병원 종사자의 손 위생 수행)

  • Purpose: The aim of study was to estimate the hand hygiene (HH) compliance of healthcare workers (HCWs) in a children's hospital. Methods: This study was conducted in a hospital which is a tertiary and educational children's hospital with 313 beds and 533 HCWs. Data were collected by direct observation methods from November 1, 2010 to December 31, 2010. Results: A total of 2,999 opportunities for HH were observed, and the overall HH rate was 95.3%. HH rate of the registered nurse, physicians and transferer was 97.7%, 89.2%, and 72.1%, respectively (P<0.001). Among physicians, HH rate of the fellows, professors, residents and interns was 97.5%, 93.9%, 89.7%, and 80.9%, respectively (P<0.001). HH rate in the emergency room, operation room, outpatient department (OPD), and the intensive care unit (ICU) was 97.2%, 97.2%, 95.4%, and 92.5%, respectively (P<0.001). Hand rubbing was the most frequently used (81.1%), and hand washing was frequently used in the case of 'after body fluids exposure risk' (37.7%) and 'after touching patient surroundings' (28.5%). HH methods were not statistically different from each departments (P =0.083), however, they were significantly different according to the World Health Organization (WHO) 5 Moments (P<0.001). Distributions in WHO 5 Moments by the job titles were significantly different (P<0.001). The odds ratio of physicians, ICU and OPD was 0.353 (95% CI, 0.241-0.519), 0.291 (95% CI, 0.174-0.487), and 0.484 (95% CI, 0.281-0.834), respectively. Conclusions: Compliance of HH was different by the job titles and departments. Effective custom-tailored HH programs for each job title and department need to be developed.

A Study on Behavior Health Care Competency between Psychiatric Ward Nurse and General ward Nurse (정신과병동과 일반병동 간호사의 행동건강간호역량에 관한 비교 연구)

  • This study is a cross sectional, descriptive research that utilized the Korean version of the BHCC (Behavior Health Care Competency) measurement tools to compare and contrast the BHCC level between nurses stationed in psychiatric and general ward departments. The research subjects were selected from 6 hospitals that have at least 300 beds located in Seoul city and Gyeonggi Province. There were a total of 190 nurses, consisting of 90 nurses from the psychiatric ward department and 100 nurses from the general ward department. The comparison demonstrated that nurses from psychiatric ward department showed a higher BHCC compared to general department nurses in most items. In the case of psychiatric ward nurses, compared to general ward nurses, the assessment was 5.29 times higher, the intervention was 6.06 times higher and the proper use of resources was 2.63 times higher. On the other hand, the treatment recommendation had no influence. Accordingly, education and training for general ward nurses should be improved and hospital administrators should pay more attention in conducting the BHCC education for the general ward nurses and on fostering education experts to develop related programs.

A Quantative Evaluation Method of the Quality of Natural Language Sentences based on Genetic Algorithm (유전자 알고리즘에 기반한 자연언어 문장의 정량적 질 평가 방법)

  • 본 논문에서는 자연언어 문장의 객관적 정량적인 질 측정 방법의 구축에 대해 설명하고, 이를 문장 퇴고 시스템의 사례에 적용해 본다. 문장의 질을 평가한다는 것은 본질적으로 주관적이고 정량화가 어려운 작업이기 때문에, 이 과정에서 질의 객관적 계량화가 가능한지 여부가 가장 중요한 문제가 된다. 이 논문에서는 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위해 유전자 알고리즘을 이용한 진화적 접근 방법을 통해 객관적이고 정량적인 질의 측정 공식을 유도하는 방법론을 제시하였다. 이 논문에서 제시한 방법론의 핵심은 간단히 말해서 사람이 행하는 정성적인 판단을, 이에 가장 근접하는 정량적 측정 체계로 전환시키는 것이라고 보면 된다. 이것을 위해 정량화 문제를 문장의 단순 언어 특징들의 변화값을 이용한 최적화 문제로 환원시키고, 다시 이 최적화 문제를 유전자 알고리즘을 이용해 해결함으로써 문제를 효과적으로 해결할 수 있었다. 실험 결과를 보면, 본 논문에서 제시한 최적화 방법은 주어진 훈련용 예제와 검증용 예제 중 각각 99.84%, 99.88%를 만족시키는 해를 찾아내었으므로 정량적 질 평가 공식의 유도에 매우 효과적임을 알 수 있었다. 또한 도출된 측정 공식을 이용해서 실제 퇴고 시스템 평가에 적용한 결과 문장 질의 측정에 매우 유용하게 이용될 수 있음을 알 수 있었다. 이와 같이 질의 정량적 평가가 가능하다는 사실이 갖는 또 한가지 중요한 의미는 최종 사용자의 구매 의사나 개발자의 공학적 의사 결정을 위한 객관적 성능 평가 자료의 제공에 이 방법이 유용하게 사용될 수 있다는 점이다.Abstract This paper describes a method of building a quantitative measure of the quality of natural language sentences, particularly produced by document revision systems. Evaluating the quality of natural language sentences is intrinsically subjective, so what is most important as to the evaluation is whether the quality can be measured objectively. To solve such problem of objective measurability, genetic algorithm, an evolutionary learning method, is employed in this paper. The underlying standpoint of this approach is that building the quality measures is a task of constructing a formulae that produces as close results as can to the qualitative decisions made by humans. For doing this, the problem of measurability has been simply reduced to an optimization problem using the change of the values of simple linguistic parameters found in sentences, and the reduced problem has been solved effectively by the genetic algorithm. Experimental result shows that the optimization task satisfied 99.84% and 99.88% of the given objectives for training and validation samples, respectively, which means the method is quite effective in constructing the quantitative measure of the quality of natural language sentences. The actual evaluation result of a revision system shows that the measure is useful to quantize the quality of sentences. Another important contribution of this measure would be to provide an objective performance evaluation data of natural language systems on a basis of which end-users and developers can make their decision to fit their own needs.

Estimation of Total Precipitable Water from MODIS Infrared Measurements over East Asia (MODIS 적외 자료를 이용한 동아시아 지역의 총가강수량 산출)

  • In this study the retrieval algorithms have been developed to retrieve total precipitable water (TPW) from Terra/Aqua Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) infrared measurements using a physical iterative retrieval method and a split-window technique over East Asia. Retrieved results from these algorithms were validated against Defense Meteorological Satellite Program (DMSP) Special Sensor Microwave/Imager (SSM/I) over ocean and radiosonde observation over land and were analyzed for investigating the key factors affecting the accuracy of results and physical processes of retrieval methods. Atmospheric profiles from Regional Data Assimilation and Prediction System (RDAPS), which produces analysis and prediction field of atmospheric variables over East Asia, were used as first-guess profiles for the physical retrieval algorithm. We used RTTOV-7 radiative transfer model to calculate the upwelling radiance at the top of the atmosphere. For the split-window technique, regression coefficients were obtained by relating the calculated brightness temperature to the paired radiosonde-estimated TPW. Physically retrieved TPWs were validated against SSM/I and radiosonde observations for 14 cases in August and December 2004 and results showed that the physical method improves the accuracy of TPW with smaller bias in comparison to TPWs of RDAPS data, MODIS products, and TPWs from split-window technique. Although physical iterative retrieval can reduce the bias of first-guess profiles and bring in more accurate TPWs, the retrieved results show the dependency upon initial guess fields. It is thought that the dependency is due to the fact that the water vapor absorption channels used in this study may not reflect moisture features in particular near surface.

An exploratory study on reviewing journal articles of qualitative studies in the field of social welfare in Korea (국내 사회복지질적연구논문 심사의 발전적 방향에 관한 탐색)

  • This study suggests future directions or approaches as to how we should appraise qualitative studies by reviewing previous studies on this topic written in English and published outside of Korea. This study explored experiences and perspectives of qualitative researchers in Korea by conducting a focus group discussion on this topic. Results of this focus group discussion indicated that qualitative researchers often face manuscript reviewers who are overly biased with quantitative paradigm which result in feeling of frustration. They also shared feeling burdened and confused as reviewers due to their own lack of training and preparedness in reviewing qualitative articles. However, participants also stressed the feeling of gratitude and being rewarded because of the experience of mutual growth and partnership with peer qualitative researchers as they strive towards improving the quality and completion of peer researchers' work. Previous studies on this topic included wide range of issues concerning qualitative research appraisal from reflections on the experiences as submitters and reviewers of qualitative studies to academic conceptual papers that discussed researchers' dilemma on research paradigms and qualitative research appraising methods. This study ends with suggestions for the future directions for qualitative researchers in Korea.

The Effects of Focusing Attitudes and Cognitive Emotion Regulation on Post-traumatic Growth of Trauma-Exposed Adolescent Athletes (외상을 경험한 청소년 운동선수들의 포커싱적 태도와 인지적 정서조절이 외상 후 성장에 미치는 영향)

  • The study sought to reveal the impact of focusing attitudes and cognitive emotion regulation on post-traumatic growth for adolescent athletes with trauma experiences. A preliminary survey was conducted on 215 middle and high school athletes in the S city and K provinces. The impact of focusing attitudes and cognitive emotion regulation on post-traumatic growth was verified using validated questionnaires. The results for the purpose and method of study are as follows. Focusing attitudes and cognitive emotion regulation of adolescent athletes affect post-traumatic growth. Positive reappraisal was the most influential factor affecting post-traumatic growth, followed by the factors influencing the aware, acceptance, accept, reflect and positive refocusing. In order to experience post-traumatic growth through the results of this study, it is important to understand the overall understanding and tactics of focusing attitudes and cognitive emotion regulation. Therefore, effective psychological training methods will be needed to positively control the level of focusing attitudes and cognitive emotion regulation among adolescent athletes.

A Performance Comparison of Machine Learning Classification Methods for Soil Creep Susceptibility Assessment (땅밀림 위험지 평가를 위한 기계학습 분류모델 비교)

  • The soil creep, primarily caused by earthquakes and torrential rainfall events, has widely occurred across the country. The Korea Forest Service attempted to quantify the soil creep susceptible areas using a discriminant value table to prevent or mitigate casualties and/or property damages in advance. With the advent of advanced computer technologies, machine learning-based classification models have been employed for managing mountainous disasters, such as landslides and debris flows. This study aims to quantify the soil creep susceptibility using several classifiers, namely the k-Nearest Neighbor (k-NN), Naive Bayes (NB), Random Forest (RF), and Support Vector Machine (SVM) models. To develop the classification models, we downscaled 292 data from 4,618 field survey data. About 70% of the selected data were used for training, with the remaining 30% used for model testing. The developed models have the classification accuracy of 0.727 for k-NN, 0.750 for NB, 0.807 for RF, and 0.750 for SVM against test datasets representing 30% of the total data. Furthermore, we estimated Cohen's Kappa index as 0.534, 0.580, 0.673, and 0.585, with AUC values of 0.872, 0.912, 0.943, and 0.834, respectively. The machine learning-based classifications for soil creep susceptibility were RF, NB, SVM, and k-NN in that order. Our findings indicate that the machine learning classifiers can provide valuable information in establishing and implementing natural disaster management plans in mountainous areas.

The Effect of Social Support of Chinese Hotel Employees on Psychological Well-Being - Focusing on 4, 5 Star Hotels in Shanghai - (중국 호텔 직원에 대한 사회적 지지가 심리적 안녕감에 미치는 영향 - 상하이 지역 4, 5 성급 호텔을 중심으로 -)

  • Although the hotel industry in China has shown great growth both quantitatively and qualitatively, there is a lack of management of employees who represent hotels in direct contact with customers. Therefore, this study examined the social support of Chinese 4, 5 star hotel employees in Shanghai as supervisory support, coworker support, and family support, and examined whether the social support of employees improves resilience and affects their psychological well-being. In order to analyze this, we surveyed 322 employees of Shanghai 4, 5 star hotels in China. Empirical analysis showed that supervisory support and family support had a positive effect on their resilience, while coworker support did not. In addition, the resilience of hotel employees has a positive effect on their psychological well-being. This study aims to provide a better understanding of social support and resilience, and to provide effective management of human resources management.
