Flat plate system has many advantages, story height reduction, a term of works shortening and changeableness of space, etc. However structures become a tendency of higher stories and when we use RC column, the size of column grow larger. For this reason the use of CFT column is increasing more and more. Accordingly, this study carried out the nonlinear finite element analysis. As a result of analysis moment strength of the connection increased but ductility decreased as the top reinforcement ratio in th effective width increased. And moment strength and ductility of the connection decreased as gravity load ratio decreased. In the case that shearhead length is not more than 0.27m, the effectiveness of shearhead length on the moment strength and ductility of the connection were small relatively to other variables. Initial stiffness and moment strength of connection increased as slab thickness increased
Current design provisions and guide for performance-based design do not accurately evaluate seismic performance of flat plate system. In the previous companion studies, parametric studies using nonlinear finite element analyses were performed to investigate behavior of the flat plate, and based on the numerical results, design methods that can predict the bending moment-carrying capacity and the corresponding deformability of the flat plate was developed. In the present study, a generalized moment-rotation relation of the flat plate was developed based on the previous studies and the numerical analyses. The proposed method was verified by the comparisons with existing experiments. In addition, the effective stiffness of the flat plate corresponding to 0.2 percent of lateral drift that is generally regarded as the serviceability limit was proposed, so as to evaluate conveniently deflection of the structure subject to wind load.

This paper presents an integrated chassis control with electronic stability control (ESC) and active front steering (AFS) under lateral force constraint on AFS. The control yaw moment is calculated using a sliding mode control. The tire forces generated by ESC and AFS are determined using weighted pseudo-inverse based control allocation (WPCA) in order to generate the control yaw moment. On a low friction road, AFS is not effective when the lateral tire forces of front wheels are easily saturated. To solve problem, the lateral force of AFS is limited to its maximum and the braking of ESC is applied with WPCA. To evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed method, a simulation was performed on the vehicle simulation package, $CarSim^{(R)}$. From the simulation, it was verified that the proposed method could enhance the maneuverability and lateral stability if the lateral force of AFS exceeds its maximum.

In this study, lateral vibration analysis has been conducted on a propulsion and lift shafting system for an air cushion vehicle using ANSYS code. The shafting system is totally flexible multi-elements system including air propeller, aluminum alloy of lift fan and thin walled shaft with flexible coupling. The analysis included the lateral natural frequencies, mode shapes and harmonic analysis of the shafting system taking into account three-dimensional models for propulsion and lifting shaft system. In case of ACV the yawing and pitching rate of craft will be quite high. During yawing and pitching of craft significant gyroscopic moment will be applied to the shafting and will generate high amplitude of lateral vibration. So, such a shafting system has very intricate lateral vibrating characteristics and natural frequencies of shafting must be avoided in the range of operating revolution. The control of lateral vibration is included in this study.
Dynamic analysis of lateral pile under seismic loading is performed in this paper. As an analytical model, the Bean-on-twinkler Foundation Model is used for this study because of its simplicity and acceptible accuracy . The method suggested by Kagawa and Kraft, which can account for non-linear effects, is used for the dynamic P-y relationship This relationship is found to be the most important factor in analysis . Group pile effects are also considered approximately The results of dynamic analysis show that a pile without supporting mass follows the soil movement ; in the case of a pile with supporting mass, the relative displacement between the soil and the pile occurs . When designing piles, it must be considered that piles have to resist the curvatures originated by the soil movement.

This paper proposes a new $H_{\infty}$ yaw moment control scheme using brake torque switching for improving vehicle performance and stability especially in high speed driving. In the scheme, one wheel is selected, depending on the vehicle states, at which a brake torque for control is applied. Steering angles are modeled as a disturbance to the system and the $H_{\infty}$ controller is designed to minimize the difference between the performance of the vehicle and that of the desired model. Its performance robustness as well as stability robustness to system parameter variations is assured through ${\mu}$-analysis. Various simulations with a nonlinear 8-DOF vehicle model show that proposed controller enhances the vehicle performance and stability under disturbances and parameter variations as well as under the normal driving condition.

We conducted structural analysis to investigate disadvantage of wire-mesh arranged at the plane and to develop three-dimensionally bent U-type wire-mesh. In all case that distributed loading at the whole top slab and the half top slab, and the wire mesh was bent $45^{\circ}$, flexura tensile stress was the fewest in both positive moment and negative moment, and the wire mesh was bent $45^{\circ}$ in crossway the shear stresss was the fewest. Therefore, by arranging wire-mesh with $45^{\circ}$ more bent than plane, flexura tensile stress, shear stress, displacement will be reduced and structural function will be improved.
Conventionally, 2WS is used for vehicle steering, which can only steering front wheel. In case of trying to high speed lane change or cornering through this kind of vehicle equipped 2WS, it may occur much of Yaw moment. On the other hand, 4WS makes decreasing of Yawing Moment, outstandingly, so it is possible to support vehicle movement stable. And conventional ABS and TCS can only possible to control the longitudinal movement of braking equipment and drive which can only available to control of longitudinal direction. There after new braking system ESP was developed, which controls both of longitudinal and lateral, with adding of the function of controlling Active Yaw Moment. On this paper, we show about not only designing of improved braking and steering system through establishing of the integrated control system design of 4WS and ESP but also designing of the system contribute to precautious for advanced vehicle stability problem.
Some methods are presented to estimate the ultimate lateral resistance of single active piles subjected to lateral loads above the ground surface, considering the lateral soil reaction, the pile length and the fixity condition of a pile head. The lateral soil reaction acting on a single active pile embedded in soil due to pile movement can be estimated by use of a theoretical equation which is derived by considering especially the plastic state of ground surrounding the pile and the pile- section shape. The piles are named short or long depending upon the relative magnitude of the induced bending moment to the yielding moment. As for the fixity condition of a pile head, the free head and the unrotated head are considered. Comparison with other experimental results gives that the calculated ultimate lateral resistance obtained by the author's theory is closer to experimental results than the one obtained by Brom's theory.
An equation for calculating confining reinforcement amount of RC bridge columns, specified in the current bridge design codes, has been made to provide additional load-carrying strength for concentrically loaded columns. The additional load-carrying strength will be equal to or slightly greater than the resistant strength of a column against axial load, which is lost because the cover concrete spalls off. The equation considers concrete compressive strength, yield strength of transverse reinforcement, and the section area ratio as major variables. Among those variables, the section area ratio between the gross section and the core section, varying by cover thickness, is a variable which considers the strength in the compression-controlled region. Therefore, the cross section ratio does not have a large effect in the aspect of ductile behavior of the tension-controlled region, which is governed by bending moment rather than axial force. However, the equation of the design codes for calculating confining reinforcement amount does not directly consider ductile behavior, which is an important factor for the seismic behavior of bridge columns. Consequently, if the size of section is relatively small or if the section area ratio becomes excessively large due to the cover thickness increased for durability, too large an amount of confining reinforcement will be required possibly deteriorating the constructability and economy. Against this backdrop, in this study, comparison and analysis were performed to understand how the cover thickness influences the equation for calculating the amount of confining reinforcement. An equation for calculating the amount of confining reinforcement was also modified for reasonable seismic design and the safety. In addition, appropriateness of the modified equation was examined based on the results of various test results performed at home and abroad.
