  • People can access to their vital signs easy through portable devices and wearable devices. The vital signs are used only for the purpose of health care, and can not be found when they are used for purposes other than health care. In this paper, we propose a web site to judge the emotional state of a viewer by using vital signs provided by smart bands. On the proposed web sites, user can see the overall trend of a person's vital signs and the vital signs of a person's best scenes and specific scenes. In this paper, we recognized the necessity to utilize the vital signs as an aspect other than existing health care. In this study, we analyzed the emotional state of people with vital signs and implemented them as a web site. In this paper, we store vital signs in a database, apply algorithms based on stored data, and draw graphs to provide user - specific graphs and graphs of all users on the Web site.

  • This study was proposed to investigate vital signs in subjects undergoing high magnetic field (3T) MR imaging for provide basic data on causes of claustrophobia as few previous studies were conducted on this special issue. Vital signs of 104 patients were monitored before and during the clinically indicated MR examinations to identify any relationship between MR scanning and the vital signs. An increase of systolic, diastolic blood pressure and pulse pressure were observed. However, they were not statistically significant(p>0.05), which meant the vital signs measured before and during the MRI scanning showed no significant change. This study is considered to be meaningful basic data for analyzing the links between vital sign fluctuations on claustrophobia during routine clinical MR examinations.

  • This paper presents a radio-telemetry patient monitor. which is used for intensive cal?e units. emergency and surgical operation rooms to monitor continuously patients' vital signs. The radio-telemetry patient monitor consists of a vital sign acquisition unit. wireless data transmission units and a vital sign-monitoring unit. The vital sign acquisition unit amplifies biological signals, performs analog signal to serial digital data conversion using the one chip micro-controller. The converted digital data is modulated FSK in UHF band using low output power and transmitted to a remote site in door. In comparison with analog modulation. FSK has major advantages to improve performance with respect to noise resistance with fower error and the potential ability to process and Improve quality of the received data. The vital sign-monitoring unit consists of the receiver to demodulate the modulated digital data, the LCD monitor to display vital signs continuously and the thermal head printer to record a signal.

  • Purpose: This study was aimed to identify the effects of Self-Foot Reflexotherapy on the Fatigue, Mood and Vital Signs of the Nursing students. Methods: The research design was a quasi experimental, one-group pretest-posttest design. The data were collected from June 15 to August 31, 2008. The one group was consisted of 21 subjects. The instruments used for the study were the Fatigue and Paleasant mood. The data were analyzed by SPSS WIN 12.0 program. In order to compare the effect of the pre-post Foot Reflexotherapy, paired-test and Repeated Measures ANOVA was employed. Results: A significant decrease in fatigue, increase in Mood and Vital signs after providing self foot reflexotherapy was observed. Conclusion: The result suggests that a self foot reflexotherapy could be utilized as an effective nursing intervention to the patients to reduce fatigue, Mood and vital signs.

  • Purpose : This study aimed to investigate the effect of foot massage on sleep, vital signs and fatigue in the elderly who live in their Home. Method: Data were collected from 20 elderly who live in the Seoul-Kyunggi province area by convenience sampling and analyzed the change of sleep and sleep satisfaction, vital signs(pulse, respiration, systolic and diastolic blood pressure) and general fatigue between pre and post foot massage using Paired t- test at 0.05 of significance level. Result: There were very significant difference in the sleep and fatigue between pre and post foot massage. Conclusion: Foot massage can improve the sleep and decrease fatigue, therefore we recommend to use foot massage as a effective sleep related nursing intervention in the elderly who live in their home.

  • Purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of music therapy on vital signs, anxiety, cortisol, and pain of Cataract Surgery Patients in elderly. Non equivalent control group pre-post test design was adopted. The number of subjects consists of 41 elderly having cataract surgery, 21 in the experimental group and 20 in the control group. Data were analyzed by $x^2$ test, Fisher's exact test, independent sample t-test, and Mann-Whitney U test. Results were: 1) there was no difference between two groups in their vital signs changes 2) anxiety, cortisol in the saliva, and pain of the experimental group decreased more significantly than those of the control group. This study confirmed the ability of music therapy to relieve pain and anxiety in cataract surgery, and suggested that music therapy could be used effectively in various interventions for the elderly.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze and evaluate music intervention research conducted with high-risk neonates in NICUs in both domestic and international settings. Seventeen music intervention studies were identified, and their characteristics, including type of music, music provider, and treatment frequency, and outcomes (i.e., neonatal vital signs) were reviewed and analyzed along with meta-analysis. For music interventions targeting high-risk neonates in NICUs, the effect sizes of the neonates' vital signs were classified as either medium or large. In addition, larger effect sizes were associated with a combination of live and recorded music, nonmusical therapists as the music providers, and treatment frequency of one to five sessions per week. These research findings verify the clinical value of music for high-risk neonates and provide insights into the selection of music elements, music delivery methods, and music providers in NICU music interventions.

  • This study examined the effects of favorite music therapy on the anxiety and vital signs at each point in gynecologic surgery using the general anesthesia. The research design was a non-equivalent control group non-synchronized design. The data were collected from May 1 to July 30, 2013 and the participants were 44 patients (experimental group, 21, control group, 23) received music therapy while waiting for anesthetic induction and PACU (Post Anesthesia Care Unit). Repeated measures ANOVA was performed to analyze the data by SPSS 18.0. Music therapy reduced the anxiety level at inducing the anesthetic time, and awakening time (p=.003; p=.011). The systolic blood pressure maintained stability at discharge from the PACU (p=.023), and pulse rate was stable at the awakening time (p=.016). This findings support the use of music as a nursing intervention to reduce anxiety and maintain the vital signs for gynecologic surgery patients under general anesthesia.
