  • The author tried to verify the mediating effect of the variable, perceived behavioral control, in the relationship between the independent variables(cosmetics-related variables, consumer's preference, advice & inducement), and the dependent variable(purchasing behavior), through AMOS structural equation modeling. As a result of analyzing the mediating effect in the impact relationship between latent variables, it was found that PBC(perceived behavior control) plays a mediating role in the impact relationship between CQ(cosmetics quality) and PB(purchasing behavior). Author found that the higher the quality of cosmetics and the greater the perceived behavior control in domestic cosmetics purchasing behavior, the more likely it will lead to purchasing behavior. In this context, while efforts are being made to improve cosmetic quality, measures to increase perceived behavior control, which can be said to be autonomy in purchasing behavior, should be sought.

  • Korean middle-aged women, who are securing economic stability of their own along with the national economic growth, have had much concern in their outward appearance. Especially, middle-aged women's concern of appearance triggered by their various social/leisure activities and appreciation of aesthetic sense leads to the interest in their outward appearance, thus naturally stimulating their purchasing sentiments. This paper attempts to identify the level of middle-aged women's concern of appearance and analyze how this level of concern affects their behavior in purchasing cosmetic products. Our analytical findings include: 1. From the t-test and distributional analysis of points of each factor on the group, the high-interest type 1 (108 persons) and low-interest type 2 (91 person) in terms of 'concern of appearance' turned out to exist. 2. Five factors of cosmetics-purchasing behavior were derived that are fashion-leading type, compulsive buying type, brand-dependent type, pondering type, planned buying type and loyal-to-brand type. 3. Cosmetics-purchasing behavior varied according to the subjects' level of concern of appearance.

  • This study tried to investigate the relationships among the sought benefits, consumer-brand relationship and purchase experiences with regard to cosmetics, based on Scmitt (1999)'s Strategic Experiential Modules (SEM) which classified consumer's purchase experiences into five modules (sense, feel, think, act & relate) and provide strategic implications based on the results. According to the result, among the sought benefits of cosmetics, functionality had the most significant impact on purchase experience, and brand affected "sense" and "think-act-relate" experiential modules. Fashion was only found to affect "feel" module. Also, the "think-act-relate" module positively affected all components of consumer-brand relationship. And, "love and passion" component was significantly influenced by sensory experience, while "mutual commitment" and "affinity" were both affected by affective experience. In addition, gender difference was found in fashion, economy, and functionality among the sought benefits, Specifically, women showed higher score on fashion and functionality than men, while men scored higher in economy benefit than women. Also gender was a differentiating factor for "feel" and "think-act-relate" experiential modules, where women scored higher than men. Finally, In terms of causal relationships, "functionality" influenced all three experiential modules (sense, feel, think-act-relate) for both men and women. But, women showed more significant relationship between brand and sensory module, whereas men showed significant relationship between brand and think-act-relate module. At conclusion, the study provides some strategic implications that cosmetics companies need to strengthen brand relationship with consumers in order to provide them with targeted purchase experiences that fit the benefits most sought by them, which will result in competitive strengths.

  • This study has verified the consumer effectiveness market influence and relationship with cosmetic purchasing behavior through a covariance model. A female consumer in her 20s or older who had purchased eco cosmetics within the last six months and 300 copies were used for final analysis through panels of online professional research institutes from May 17 to May 30, 2020. As a result of the analysis, functional value, social value, and green consumption value were derived from the consumption value of eco cosmetics. Social value and green consumption value have been shown to have significant impact on consumer effectiveness and market influence but functional value relationships have not been identified. In addition, consumer effectiveness and market influence were found to promote eco cosmetics purchase behavior. Through this study we have identified the importance of perceived environmental issues (consumer effectiveness and market influence) in purchasing eco cosmetics and hope that they will be used as useful data for developing eco products and establishing marketing strategies based on understanding of consumers.

  • In the highly competitive cosmetic industry, each cosmetic brand is striving to increase its profit by providing excellent product quality and delightful marketing campaigns. In this regard, this study investigates consumers' post-purchasing decision-making processes. It considers the two critical post-purchasing behaviors as repurchasing intention and recommendation intention. We posit customer satisfaction and brand image as the key antecedents of post-purchasing behaviors. The effects of cosmetic quality, price fairness, and event activities on consumer satisfaction and brand image are examined. We conducted a questionnaire survey of women in their twenties, which are critical groups in consumer life cycle of cometic products. Data collected from 163 female respondents were empirically tested against a theoretical framework using partial least squares. Analysis results found that both consumer satisfaction and brand image significantly influence post-purchasing behaviors, respectively. Especially, brand image has a stronger effect on post-purchasing behaviors than customer satisfaction does. Cosmetic quality and price fairness play an important role on customer satisfaction and brand image. However, event activities significantly affect consumer satisfaction, while they do not significantly influence brand image.

  • This study conducted an empirical analysis through a survey to analyze the effect of social risk perception caused by COVID-19 on college students' cosmetics purchase behavior. Factors were extracted through factor analysis, and Pearson's correlation analysis and multiple regression analysis were used to analyze the correlation of each factor and the impact of variables. To this end, a statistical analysis was conducted using 320 copies of the questionnaire as a sample. Studies have shown that the higher the fear of COVID-19, the higher the fear of infection, changes in life, and awareness of the economic crisis, and the higher the tendency to buy ostentatiously, habitually, and reasonably. The more changes in life, the higher the awareness of the economic crisis, and the higher the trademark habitual purchase and rational purchase behavior. Fear of infection has been shown to affect trademark habitual purchases, and fear of infection and changes in life have been shown to have a significant impact on rational purchase behavior.
