When a man is called a person crossing borders(PCB), he is a man who pursues communication, coexistence and combination beyond visible and/or invisible borders of nations and disciplinaries. This paper examines Leibniz as a PCB in his life and learning, and how his metaphysics, the pre-established harmony, enabled him to be a PCB.

This essay considers Leibniz-Clark correspondence on the nature of space and hole argument. The ontology of space had been debated under the name of substantivalism-relationism controversy. The debates between the two parties are concerned with the nature of existence of parts of space-time. Substantivalism claims that the point of space-time has existence analogous to that of material substance. Relationism argues that space-time should be understood as the framework of possible spatio-temporal relations between bodies. Although these two approaches attempt to respect theoretical context, it seems that the problems of these two interpretive schemes stems from the lack of understanding of the structure of space-time theories, especially how space-time is connected with the laws of motion. In order to appreciate the substance-relation controversy without deviating from the context of space-time theories, it is necessary then to capture how space-time theories are constituted. This essay offers the clear connection of ontology of space-time with present practices of theoretical physicists.

Whitehead's metaphysics and philosophy of nature rest on his awareness of the metaphysical problem of the relation between "I", the "creative advance" and forces of the universe. Whitehead attempted to systematize human experience of the world based on logical explorations. In this context it is important to note that his discussion of proposition and language is closely connected with his works on a systematic theory of nature. Whitehead proposes a metaphysical concept of proposition also based on the creative advance of the universe. His theory of proposition is designed to show that human language is constructions of the relations between logical and real events in the creative universe which refer to a particular point of view. In this view, a variety of verbal possibilities in the multiple worlds can be realized in the same proposition. For Whitehead the emergence of novelty in the function of proposition is an essential property of the creative universe. This paper will try to give a discussion to Whitehead's theory of proposition with regard to the emergence of nature. Especially I emphasize in this paper Whitehead's idea and meaning of proposition for the development of the creative advance of nature as one aspect of particular importance.

The present paper aims to show basic substitution between metaphysics and mathematical abstraction in the philosophy of mathematics. The general troths of metaphysics and the truths particularly relevant to tile nature of mathematical abstraction serve as speculative guides in ordering the content and discussing the nature of the multiple questions which lie between the disputed frontiers of metaphysics and mathematical abstraction.

베나세라프는, 프레게의 플라톤주의를 비판하기 위하여 서로 다른 집합 순서열들이 수 순서열로 간주될 수 있다는 수 미결정성 논제를 주장한다. 이에 대하여 신프레게주의자인 헤일은 수 미결정성 논제를 정면으로 부정하는 논증을 제시하였다. 본 논문에서 필자는 헤일의 논증에서 핵심적인 역할을 하는 형이상학적 원리가 수용되기 어려운 것임을 보이고자 한다.

This paper aims to analyze the phenomena of eighteenth-century mathematics and to find the "metaphysics" of the period which made them possible. 과학과 종교는 대화가 가능한가? 지난 4월 미국에서는 노벨물리학 수상자인 와인버그와 성공회 목사인 폴킹혼이 '과학과 종교간의 건설적인 대화'라는 제목으로 토론을 벌였다. 이들 두사람은 신의 존재와 사람의 선악행위 등을 토론대상으로 올려 놓았지만 신학의 권위는 계시에 있고 과학의 권위는 실험에 있기 때문에 중요한 형이상학적인 문제는 해결되지 않은 채 토론은 끝났다.
