Application of the Cognitive Conflict Process Model to Middle School Science Course (인지갈등을 통한 개념수업 절차 모형의 적용)

  • This study investigated the influences of applying the Cognitive Conflict Process Model (the Procedural Teaching Model using Cognitive Conflict Strategy: Kwon, 1989) upon students' achievement and attitudes in a middle school science concept instruction. For the treatment group, science instruction to apply the Cognitive Conflict Process Model was used. For the control group, traditional instruction was used. Prior to instruction, students' pre-conceptions test and attitudes test related to the science were administered. After instruction, the above two tests and the regular examinations were measured. Also students' perceptions of their teacher's new teaching style was investigated by questionnaire. But, above all, the main purpose of this study was to investigate the principal accompanying matters of general application of the teaching model to science concept instruction rather than conceptual and attitudinal change. Therefore, this study identified necessary conditions of applying the teaching model to science instruction.

  • Successful industries that have maintained their competitiveness are characterized by well-established skills framework system. Skills framework establishes the agreed-upon, industry-identified knowledge, skills and abilities required to succeed in the workplace. Skills framework forms a solid foundation for the development of outcomes-based instruction and assessment, thus it benefits industry, students, educators and government. Each group has a major stake in the education of our students and in the efficient development of a productive workforce. Particularly in fast-changing fields like information security, relevant data that accurately reflect current and future knowledge and skills enable timely direction of resources, development and revision of industry-relevant curriculum, and efficient development of career information and job profiles. Skills framework occupies an indispensable position in any dialog concerning education or training in technical fields. In this study, we develop the skills framework for information security professionals.

A Study on the Perception of Fire Risk and Flash Flame Concerning the Firefighter (화재진압대원의 화재현장 위험도 및 돌발화염 인식 조사에 관한 연구)

  • In this study, the perceptions were surveyed fire risk and flash flames concerning the firefighters. The results were statistically evaluated according to age, experience and rank. More than 70% of the respondents answered that there is a possibility of unexpected flame exposure in the field of fire, but there was no recognition difference according to age, experience and rank. However, if there is an emergency situation in the field of fire, the survey on the ability to cope with crises showed that there is a difference in perception depending on the age, career, and rank of respondents. From these results, it is expected that strengthening simulation training of unexpected situation will be more urgently required in the future, and measures should be taken to minimize human accidents through improvement of standard operation procedures or supplement of fire suppression education according to unexpected situation.

Exploring the Predictive Validity of Behavioral Characteristics Checklists for Identifying Mathematically Gifted Students in Korea (예측타당도를 중심으로 한 관찰·추천 영재판별용 행동특성 평정척도의 유용성 탐색)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the predictive validity of behaviroal characteristics checklists that are widely used in Korea for identifying mathematically gifted students. Three most widely used checklists were selected and implemented to classroom teachers who could teach and observe gifted students in regular classes. The predictive validity of the tree checklists were explored by generating the correlations between their ratings using those three checklists and the performance levels of gifted students, which were measured by teachers in gifted classes. Findings of this study are the followings: First, all three checklists could statistically significantly predict the performance of gifted students in gifted programs, and the checklist B showed the highest predictability. Secondly, without the assistance by those checklists, teachers could not predict the performance level of gifted students. Lastly, teachers that were trained for educating gifted students could very effectively predict the performance of gifted students with the aid of those checklists while teachers without appropriate training could not at all even with the aid of those checklists.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate operating practices of human resources nourishing institutions and analyze the degree of satisfaction to the e-learning learners in Busan. This study adopted a questionnaire method in research of 70 human resources nourishing institutions and 758 e-learning learners in Busan area for empirical analysis. Techniques used in analyzing data was frequency analysis. SPSS for windows programs were applied in the analysis. The major findings of this study are as follows. First, it is found that there is a widespread affirmative perceptions in the fields of both operating practices and satisfaction on e-learning. Second, however, it is also found that more efforts needed to be made in some areas such as method for effective e-learning and the management of programs, and more concerns should be need to the age group of fifty-over. These groups are short of understanding and acceptance of e-learning environment.

  • In recent years, the domestic construction business is continuously stagnated caused by housing depression, global financial crisis etc. To overcome these difficulties, the construction companies should reinforce the internal marketing like the service business. However, it is not easy to conduct active internal marketing reinforcement since the companies do not directly receive customers under special situation like construction. Therefore, it is necessary to resolve the urgent issue by selecting order of priority among internal marketing factors. To address this issue, the objective of this study is to analyze the internal marking factors by using Analytic Hierarchy Process. As a result, the first and second factor represents the internal communication and working condition and environment respectively. The findings of this study will contribute to apply the internal marketing into construction industry.

중소제조업(中小製造業) 고용문제(雇傭問題)에 대한 제도적(制度的) 접근(接近)

  • 본고(本稿)에서는 지난 1973~93년 기간동안 제조업부문에서의 고용(雇傭), 임금(賃金), 생산성(生産性) 등의 변화추이(變化推移)에 대한 분석을 통하여 우리나라 중소제조업(中小製造業)의 세가지 특징적(特徵的)인 팽창양식(膨脹樣式)으로 (1)급격한 양적(量的) 팽창(膨脹), (2)중소기업(中小企業)과 대기업(大企業)간 임금(賃金) 생산성(生産性) 격차(隔差)의 거대(據大), (3)산업조정(産業調整)에 따른 고용조정(雇傭調整) 등에 주목(注目)하였다. 이러한 중소제조업 고용의 동태적인 변화에 대한 이해를 바탕으로 최근 심각히 부각되고 있는 중소제조업 생산직의 인력부족문제를 단순히 '노동(勞動)에 대한 초과수요(超過需要)'로 파악하는 정태적(靜態的)인 관점(觀點)을 비판하였으며, 또한 중소기업 인력(人力)의 질(質)이 대기업(大企業)에 비하여 상대적으로 저하되었음을 보임으로써 중소제조업(中小製造業) 고용문제(雇傭問題)의 핵심은 양적(量的)인 부족(不足)이 아니라 '인력(人力)의 질(質)'의 문제임을 강조하였다. 특히 우리나라 인력개발체계가 국가적(國家的)으로 직업자격(職業資格)을 갖춘 중간기술인력(中間技術人力)을 제대로 배출해 내는 데 실패함으로써, 대기업에 비하여 종업원에 대한 교육훈련에 있어서 규모의 경제를 갖지 못하는 중소기업의 경우 질 높은 인력의 확보에 어려움을 겪는 데 문제의 심각성이 있음을 지적하였다. 또한 본고(本稿)에서는 우리나라의 중소기업(中小企業)이 생산현장(生産現場)에서 바로 활용할 수 있는 직업자격(職業資格)을 갖춘 중간기술인력(中間技術人力)을 제대로 공급할 수 있도록, (1)직업기술교육(職業技術敎育), 직업훈련(職業訓練), 자격제도(資格制度)간의 연계(連繫) 강화(强化), (2)새로운 국가기술자격제도(國家技術資格制度)의 확립(確立), (3)인력개발(人力開發)네트워크의 구축(構築), (4)인력개발지원체계(人力開發支援體系)의 정비(整備) 등 네가지를 기본방향(基本方向)으로 하는 우리나라 인력개발체계(人力開發體系)의 전반적(全般的)인 개편(改編)을 제언(提言)하였다.

Impact of Fire Demand on Fire Service Budget (소방수요가 소방예산에 미치는 영향)

  • This paper aimed to statistically analyze the impact of fire needs not considered in previous reports based on preventive and preparedness strategies of fire administration and fire budget.. The panel data came from 16 metropolitan councils from 2008 to 2018 and was statistically analyzed based on the preventive measures of the fire administration (agreement for building permission, specific target for fire-fighting, public use facilities, and special fire inspection [SFI]), preparedness of the fire administration (fire safety education [FSE]), response of the fire administration (mobilization for fire suppression [MFS] and mobilization for ambulance service [MAS]), and fire budget. In the results, SFI, FSE, and MFS had a significant negative influence on the fire budget. Meanwhile, MAS had a significant positive effect on the fire budget (p < 0.01). These results reflect public policy in Korea; there has been a paradigm shift in fire administration: from disaster acceptance (focusing on recovery) to disaster response (focusing on field response) to disaster preparedness (focusing on preparedness).

Development of the simulator for marine auxiliary boiler system (선박용 보조 보일러 시스템 시뮬레이터 개발)

  • It requires long time and high cost for an apprentice engineer to reach the level of getting various experiences of engine space machinery and preparing for emergency situations. Therefore reducing the time and cost, several types of simulator that give the very similar surroundings to the ship engine room, relevant to STCW-95 are used for systematic education and training to get many experiences and good judgement in emergency. Since most simulators that are operated in Korea were imported from foreign countries, it is difficult to directly implant the amendments of STCW Convention and reflect International Maritime Organization (IMO) model courses. This study describe a development of marine auxiliary boiler simulator that makes the apprentice engineer easier to understand the relationship between equipments in steam system such as auxiliary boiler, exhaust gas boiler, and steam turbine.

A Study on the Effect of Participation in Work and Learning Dual System of Small Businesses on Employees' Job Competency Enhancement (중소기업의 자격부여형 일학습병행제 참여가 근로자의 직무능력 향상에 미치는 영향)

  • This study analyzed the effect of participation in work and learning ducal system of small businesses on employees' job competency enhancement. The study results showed that performance assessment significantly affected job competency enhancement(p<.001, ${\beta}=.514$). In conclusion, it is suggested that small businesses should consider performance assessment more important and actively include it in training program as generally utilizing off-the-job or on-the-job training method. This study provided implications for analyzing the effect of participation in work and learning ducal system of small businesses on employees' job competency enhancement, so it broadened the scope of the study about performance of work and learning ducal system and verified the effectiveness depend on the type of training.
