A Logical Critique of Criticism and Anticriticism of Lee Yeung-Hi (리영희 비판과 반비판의 논리적 비판: '북한맹.시장맹' 논쟁을 중심으로)

  • Lee Yeung-Hi is one of the most influential journalist in the modern history of Korea. Nevertheless, the judgement about him has been parallelized by opposite sides. He is called 'the Master of ideology', while the other calls him 'the culprit of theorization'. This thesis deduced the contemporary meaning of person Lee Yeung-Hi in order to promote communication for both sides. I compared their logical arguments and pointed out the error they missed. Also, I clarified that the criticism and anticriticism for Lee Young-Hi in the fields of both journalism and academia have fallacies, such as the fallacy of straw man, and the fallacy of question-begging. I criticized their arguments through the view of 'struggling to seek truth', which is the core value of Lee Yeung-Hi's thought. The necessity of communication between advocators and it's critics is due to the condition of Korean Journalism. Korean Journalism does not have much space to accept Lee Young-Hi in only one side. Paradoxically, the contemporary meaning of the truth that Journalist Lee Young-Hi had sought is profound and deep because of the condition where Korean Journalism is being dominated by political parallelism.

A Qualitative Study on the Use of Fallacies in the 2022 Korean Presidential Debates (20대 대선 후보 TV토론에서의 오류 사용에 관한 질적 연구)

  • The present study aims to explore how fallacies, arguments that seem valid but are not, appear in 2022 South Korean presidential debates. It qualitatively analyzes the candidates' remarks in the first and last presidential debates (240 minutes) using 20 formal and informal fallacy concepts as a theoretical framework. Results show that the three candidates used 23 informal fallacies from 15 categories, including the straw man, red herring, begging the question, complex question, hasty generalization, appeal to the masses, and you too. The candidates relied on fallacies to defend their image and electoral agenda from adversary attacks and to contaminate their opponent's image and agenda. The arguers, who struggled with tough questions, frequently made fallacies as pseudo-arguments to avoid the situation without lying and violating election laws. This study indicates that the fallacy system can be a framework for analyzing crucial political content. Moreover, it warns against the abuse of fallacies in TV debates.

  • 이 글은 박병철과 이승종의 저술에 대한 박정일의 서평을 중심으로 비트겐슈타인 철학의 몇몇 문제점을 고찰하면서 다음과 같은 것을 주장한다. 첫째 비트겐슈타인 철학의 현상학적 양상을 추적하고 있는 박병철의 현상학의 개념이 명백하지 않다. 둘째 "논리철학논고"의 유아론은 경험적 유아론이 아니라 선험적 유아론이다. 셋째 "논리철학논고"의 대상은 감각자료가 아니다. 넷째 우리에게 주어진 소여는 논리적인 것이다. 다섯째 박병철은 이 논리적인 것을 경험에 근거지우는 실책을 범하고 있다. 여섯째 모순의 형식적 개념에 대한 이승종의 비판은 성공적이지 않다. 일곱째 이것은 박정일이 지적한 것처럼 허수아비 공격의 오류를 범했기 때문인 것처럼 보인다. 여덟째 모순된 규칙에 대한 이승종의 이해는 박정일이 지적하듯이 잘못되었다.

  • 최근 농작물이나 과수는 멧돼지, 고라니, 꿩 등과 같은 유해동물로부터 피해를 입는 사례가 늘고 있다. 특히 멧돼지는 현재 별다른 천적이 없어 개체수가 급격히 증가하고 산간지역을 넘어 도심지역까지 출몰하고 있어 농가에 큰 근심거리가 된다. 종래에는 농장이나 과수원에 허수아비를 세우거나 목책을 치는 소극적인 수단에서부터, 경계를 따라 전기울타리를 설치하거나 야간점멸 조명 기를 설치하는 등의 적극적인 수단을 강구하였으나, 야생동물들이 이들 대책수단에 적응하게 되면서 큰 효과를 거두지 못하고 있으며 확실한 대책이 없이 피해는 점점 더 늘어만 가고 있는 실정이다. 본 논문에서 제안하는 시스템은 무인로봇을 이용한 유해동물 감시 시스템으로, 특히 유해동물을 감지하고 무인로봇을 유해동물로 이동시켜 소리 또는 물질을 방출하도록 하고 유해동물에 대한 관련정보를 관리자단말 및 유관기관서버로 전송하도록 하는 유해동물 감시 시스템 설계 및 개발 관한 것이다.

  • Various works of art in a convergent form using new media technology Reflecting the attempted trend, this paper examines the footsteps of public art and Looking at the examples of works using new media art as an expression method of public art works, I suggest vr drawing as a new tool for public media art. The drawing performance using the vr drawing tool and the case of the vr realistic performance scarecrow, The vr drawing tool can infer the possibility of practical application as a new expression method of public art. This study uses a vr drawing tool among new media technologies in the future. It is believed that it will be a prior study that will help prospective creators. In addition, compared to the media status in the era of the 4th industrial revolution, art and If you think and analyze the future value of technology, I think it will be a meaningful study.

Analysis on Children's Songs Utilized in New-Song-Learning Activities in Early Childhood Education (유아교사가 새노래 지도에 사용하는 동요 분석)

  • The purpose of the study was to examine the repertoires of children's songs that early childhood teachers used for new-song-learning activities and to analyze the characteristics of frequently used songs. 120 early childhood teachers in South Korea were recruited to gather the repertoires of children's songs during January and February, 2021. And then, 20 most frequently used songs were selected and analyzed in genre, theme, tonality, meter, musical form, and tone range. SPSS ver. 25.0 was used to calculate the means, standard deviations, frequencies, and percentages. As results, the most frequently used five songs were 'Autumn Road,' 'Winter Wind,' 'Scarecrow Man,' 'Watermelon Party,' and 'Cosmos.' The results of analyses of 20 frequently used songs revealed that the creative songs as genre, seasons as theme, C major as tonality, 4/4 as meter, and ternary form as musical form, and c' - c" along with c' - d" as tone range were the mostly used.

A Study on the Korean Translation Strategy of San Mao's Prose (싼마오 산문의 한국어 번역 전략 연구)

  • San Mao is a prominent Taiwanese female writer. She created many works in a unique style based on what she experienced and studied through her experience of studying abroad. Among them, 『Daocaoren Shouj i』 is a prose that records episodes of overseas life. There are two Korean translations of this work. Different translators used different translation strategies. TT1 used a lot of semantic translation to emphasize and translate a lot of exotic feelings. On the other hand, TT2 pursued natural translation by using a communicative translation strategy. In addition, the peculiarity is that both translations attempted 'creative translation' and intentionally 'transformed' and translated. This creative translation helps the reader to immerse and understand the work. With this study as an opportunity, we hope that various follow-up studies on San Mao's translation will be conducted.

  • 1) The passage "Sila seongdae so-seongdae cheonha daepyeong nahu-deog (新羅盛(聖)代 昭盛代 天下大平 羅侯德)" of the Korean Dynasty , corresponds to the primary passage of Cheonyong Rang Manghaesa(처용랑 망해사)>. These passages are ironic expressions of King Heongang's reign. This passage can therefore be interpreted as having the meaning of "People talk about King Heongang who ruined the kingdom. The bright politics of Silla's loyalty is the virtue of King Heongang." 2) "Cheoyong aba isi insaeng-ae sangbuleo hasilandae isi insaeng-ae samjaepalnan-i ilsi somyeol hasyatda (處容 아바 以是人生애 相(常)不語시란 以是人生애 相(常)不語시란 三災八難이 一時消滅샷다)." This was said by Cheoyong(처용), who was unable to reveal his anger while witnessing his wife being raped by Yuk-sin(疫神). This passage means, "Father Cheoyong(처용), in this world if a man does not express anger about the absurdity of the world, he can escape from catastrophe," or, "Father Cheoyong (처용), because in this world you had not expressed anger about the absurdity of world, you could escape from catastrophe." 3) In "maa-man maa-man haniyeo sibi jegug-i moda jiseo syeon aeu cheoyongbi-hal maa-man haniyeo (마아만 마아만 니여 十二諸國이 모다 지 셰온 아으 處容아비 마아만 니여)," the most likely interpretation of Maa is "마아(麻兒)," which means "scarecrow." In this way, this passage emphasizes that Cheyong(처용) is not a scarecrow, but a representative of the eyes of all people in all kingdoms. 4) In "meoja oeyaja logliya ppallina nae singohal maeyara (머자외야자 綠李야 리나 내 신고 야라", meoja (머자) is the double arranging shape of meotda(멎다), and oeyaja(외야자) is the double arranging shape of oeda(외다); those characters mean "ugly" and "wrong for each other." Additionally, Rokri(綠李) can be regarded as an administrator in blue or black clothes who is performing an errand of the yuksin(疫神).

Study on Vulnerability of Multi-Culturalism Discourses in Korea A Case Study of JTBC's Entertainment Show (텔레비전 예능 프로그램 속의 다문화주의 JTBC <비정상회담>의 '기미가요' 논란을 통해 본 다문화주의 담론의 취약성 연구)

  • Korean mass media has represented foreigners in their documentaries, entertainment shows, situational comedies, and dramas for long time, while the representations created plenty of controversies. Alleged West-oriented racism found from various televison programs may be one of them. Recently, however, more Korean television shows began to incorporate the ideas of multi-culturalism. This paper is an attempt to explore how television audiences interpret multi-culturalism reflected in the media. More specifically, this is a case study of JTBC's , a show featuring foreigners debating on various topics regarding Korean culture. Particularly, it focuses on disputes over the producers' decision to play 'Kimigayo' (the national anthem of Japan, which is also considered as a symbol of Japanese militaristic past) when introduced a new Japanese panel. Critical discourse analysis was adoped as the main research method, and researchers found that audiences draw certain guidelines in accepting multi-cultural aspects. If and when these aspects overstep the line, they tend to abandon it without hesitance. In the case of 'Kimigayo,' it was ethno-centrism and/or anti-Japanes sentiments which made multi-culturalsim much weaker. It does not mean that multi-culturalism was replaced-or defeated-by nationalism, but show the 'vulnerability' of multi-culturalsim. Multi-culturalism is not as concretely rooted in Korean society as many people have claimed or hoped. The research has its own limitations as a case study, but it is hoped to stimulate other researchers to keep their eyes on media and multi-culturalsim in Korea.
