Products elicit the consumer's purchasing behavior by satisfying their needs and are cognized as the combination of various needs attributes. Also R&D is referred as a series of technical development activities to meet the consumer's needs attributes. In particular, in the market-oriented R&D era, it could obtain the legitimacy by developing the R&D based on the needs attributes. In this study, we aimed to investigate the priority setting in R&D field, considering consumer's needs attributes. To be concrete, we tried to present the evolutional direction of desirable phased R&D according to 'the importance degree for consumers on the attributes (functions) of the certain products' and 'the urgency degree of technical quality to fulfill its needs'. To achieve this, we targeted SMART TV, the convergence product, which contains the uncertainty in terms of marketability and technological aspect, and analyzed the priority of the R&D in SMART TV field. Based on the result of the analysis, 4-steps product concept (ultra high definition TV, interactive TV, 3D/immersive TV, personalized TV) is derived by analyzing the evolutional direction of R&D in SMART TV field. This finding implies that the success possibilities of product could be enhanced during the process of the evolution of products that have multiple needs attributes, by pursuing the R&D which fulfills the needs attribute first required in the market. In addition, it provides a useful framework to design the R&D roadmap in an aspect of R&D strategy.
In recent years, the volume of global fair trade has been increased rapidly. As the quality of life improves, consumers are increasingly concerned about fairness and environment and show positive attitudes toward ethical products. Fair trade is a social movement that aims to set fair prices for products, alleviate poverty, and assist producers marginalized by the traditional economic model. The study attempt to investigate empirically fair trade products purchase intention, so consumers attitude toward fair trade product purchase, normative belief, fairness restoration expectation, ethical responsibility are defined and their impacts on the purchase intention were analyzed. The statistical method used to test the hypotheses was multi-regression using SPSS 18 for window. The results of this study are follows. Purchase attitudes toward fair trade products and ethical responsibility had a significant effect on the purchase intention. The Effectiveness of the ethical responsibility had greater than that of the purchase attitudes. The result of the empirical study provides important implications for the fair trade related organizations and businesses.

The purpose of this study is to provide cosmetic companies and research institutes with basic data regardingthe development of marketing by making out the influence and characteristics of consumption. A total of 506 questionnaires were used as analysis for the questionnaire survey of twenty female college students who purchased cosmetics within sixmonths in Seoul and the metropolitan area. Consumption propensity varied characteristics depending on the degree of makeup, average number of purchases, main reason for using cosmetics, and where to buy cosmetics. Motivation for purchasing cosmetics varied characteristics depending on the largest skin problem, the degree of usual makeup, the average number of times cosmetics were purchased, and the main reason forusing cosmetics. The results revealed thepropensities of saving resources, planned purchases, consciousness to others, and impulse buying have significant effects on the cosmetic purchase motives of product conversion, being others-oriented, economicsand pursuing beauty(P<0.05).Consequently, this study hopes to contribute to the development of cosmetics companies and research institutes by providingbasic data forfuture development of productsas well as formarketing strategiesusing customer psychology by referring to various perspectives ofconsumer direction and desired purchase behavior.
Lifestyle is an important variable to understand consumer behavior because it is a lifestyle that is common to all members of society or some members of society. so In this study, the survey has been performed on adult mobile game users over the age of 20 in Korea and China to evaluate the correlation between lifestyle and will of continuous use of game by mobile game users, and the hierarchical multiple regression analysis has been performed on the collected data by using the statistical package program SPSS 20.0. There were total 212 respondents with the gender ratio of 50:50, and 107 respondents were Korean, and 105 respondents were Chinese. As a result of study, first, regardless of lifestyle, more male and more Chinese respondents showed higher will of continuous use. Second, among mobile game user lifestyles, the challenge-oriented, trend-oriented, conservative, and ostentatious lifestyles could become significant causal variables for the will of continuous use of game. Yet, the influence of such lifestyle was not correlated with individual genders or nationalities. The result of this study will be provided as the basic data to establish the strategic solution for companies and government policies for entrance into the mobile game market of China in the future.

Can art really change the way people understand and interact with nature in order to reduce the possibility that ecological disasters will continue to expand due to failure to correct human actions that damage the global environment? What is the artistic methodology to realize environmental justice and sustainability of life on Earth? This paper seeks to find answers to these questions. Finding ways to look at, feel, understand, and act for the global environment, that is, the process of considering the way of orientation toward the global environment will lead to critical thinking of the history in which human centered behaviors treated nature as a resource for exploitation rather than a source of life. Therefore, this paper pays attention to the ecological art of The Harrison Studio, which is called the 'pioneer of the environmental art movement'. In the main body, The Harrison Studio's major projects are analyzed to find ecological implications and aesthetic strategies. In particular, their dialogical methodologies are demonstrated in detail. To this end, the significance of various collaborative practices of The Harrison Studio is explained. The Harrison Studio contributed to expanding the scope of practical experience and understanding of the value of eological art. They have the power to look back on the direction of ecological consciousness by constantly producing mutually connected and overlapping epistemic dimensions without being limited to any uniform rules of exchange.
For years, poor research and working conditions in the field of science and engineering in Korea led to the migration of gifted students to seek a better academic environment. The primary reason for such a phenomenon is the lack of a coherent education system for gifted students. With the support from the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology and the Korea Foundation for the Advancement of Science & Creativity, Hanyang University launched an exploring project to introduce an Honors Program, aiming to provide specialized and systematic learning opportunities as well as supporting greater academic achievements for gifted students at university-level. Students admitted to this program were selected not by conventional standards but by competency-based selection process, assessed through an in-depth interview. The specific goal of this program is to prepare gifted and talented students not only for an academic pioneer with the highest caliber in the field of science, but also for a global leader equipped with a creative view as well as integrity and a convergent mind. Distinctive features of this program include emphasis on fundamental science and consilience, problem solving skills, first-hand education, interpersonal skills, and global communication skills as well as individualization of the learning experience, among many others. This paper provides a short glimpse of the focus and methodology Honors Program in Hanyang University offers.

The objectives of this study were to explore food-related lifestyle segments of the older consumers, to identify its socio-demographic characteristics, and to investigate the differences in variables regarding health beliefs. A survey was conducted of adults 55 years of age and older living in Seoul, South Korea from March 28 to April 10, 2007. Out of the 500 distributed questionnaires, 361 were retained for final analysis: a response rate of 72.2%. As a result of cluster analysis, five consumer segments were identified; health-managing group, diet-unconcerned group, convenience-oriented group, taste-oriented group, unpracticed group. Significant differences were found among the five segments in terms of socio-demographic characteristics and variables regarding health beliefs (i.e., perceived self-efficacy, perceived barriers, perceived benefits). In the health-managing group and taste-oriented group, mean scores of perceived self-efficacy (p<0.001) and perceived benefits (p<0.001) were significantly higher than other groups. However, in the diet-unconcerned group and convenience-oriented group, the mean scores of perceived barriers (p<0.01) were significantly high. This study shows that foodservice operators targeting the older consumers should consider characteristics of each segment to develop a customized program.
There was a great need to consider a core competency-based approach as a new direction of the science education for gifted students according to the value and vision of the 21st century knowledge-based societies. Therefore we developed a core competency model of scientist and examined its validity as a prerequisite for a core competency-based education of science gifted students. In order to this, the survey was conducted after developing questionnaire through the theoretical review of the various resources such as paper, book, and newspaper articles and the qualitative analysis of the behavioral event interview, and then an exploratory factor analysis was performed to validate the factor structure based on the results of the survey. The results revealed that the core competency model with the 5 cluster units of competency and the 15 core competencies was potentially constituted. And the reliability, convergent validity, and discriminant validity of the core competency model were verified through the confirmatory factor analysis. The cognitive cluster consisted of 5 competencies and they were as follows: creative, comprehensive, exploratory, analytical, and conceptual thinking competency. The achievement-orientation cluster consisted of 3 competencies and they were as follows: initiative, preparation & problem solving, and strategic influence competency. The scientific attitude cluster consisted of 3 competencies and they were as follows: flexible thinking & attitude, passion for research, and views about science competency. The personal effectiveness cluster consisted of 2 competencies and they were as follows: diverse experiences and global attitude competency. Finally, the networking cluster consisted of 2 competencies and they were as follows: personal understanding and communication competency. Findings were expected to provide the basic data for developing programs and establishing strategies based on the core competency as well as introducing the core competency model of scientist to science education for gifted students effectively.
University dining services have received less attention than commercial food services or other institutional food services. Marketing practitioners and researchers recognize the major impact that perceived value has on consumer behavior. The mediating role of value has not been verified in relation to satisfaction in university dining establishments, including Korea. This study intends to investigate the relationships among value, satisfaction and revisit intention of university dining attributes. This study also examines whether university dining service attributes dimensions influence value. Further, this study verifies the role of value as a mediator in the formation of customer satisfaction and revisit intention. Structural Equation Modeling has been applied to the collected data from students of three universities in Korea. The study resulted in that university dining attributes, such as food, menu and convenience, positively affected value of the university dining services. Further analysis with examination of indirect effects confirmed the positive impact of value on satisfaction in university dining services. This study verified the mediating role of value on satisfaction as student's satisfaction is enhanced through the elevation of value of university food services. Enhanced satisfaction via value also led to improvement in revisit intention. This study contributes to the academia by verifying the mediating role of value in the formation of customer satisfaction in a university dining context. This study also offers practical implications to the industry, such as suggestions on developing strategies for value-added products and services to the university dining establishments. This value research for university dining services is also meaningful by triggering future research on market segmentation, product differentiation and positioning policies. In the long run, improving value and satisfaction with university dining services need to be realized to enhance overall college experiences and other competitive advantages, such as student recruitment and enrollment, student academic evaluations, and university reputation.
In the past, consumers sought utilitarian and defensive consumption in an attempt to move to a balanced state. However, today's consumers go beyond this to consume more for hedonic and creative reasons if not for sheer pleasure. There is an obvious shift from the type of consumption that satisfies basic desires through the characteristics, convenience and quality of goods and services to an era of 'experiential consumption,' in which consumers pursue distinctive value systems and way of life along with a total 'experience' provided by such goods and services. Such a sign of the times has given birth to the experience design that aims at maximizing the strategic use of experiences in design. Research on this subject is gradually increasing. The research and application peformed even without the proper understanding about the concepts and purposes of experience design, however, is likely to deviate from the true nature in its process or method. Also, they are likely to cause rather than solve problems. Accordingly, this study examined the meaning of experience from a spatial aspect, focusing on areas that recognize the experience as economically valuable, making the most of it substantively. The main concept of experience practical used on-line is enhancement of the usability of a medium by reflecting the experience of users accustomed to both off-line and on-line environments and materializing the environment doser to and more familiar with the users, thus allowing them to comfortably use the medium. This is to allow the users to feel more comfortable. The experience practical used pertaining to off-line is a tool to fulfill the sensitivity of users, with efforts to create new, future-oriented consumer values. This, based on the understanding of consumer behavior, seeks to maximize the consumption experience of consumers by providing a combination of sensual and sensitive experiences as well as to enhance the existing experiences by permitting users to create new, extended experiences from the fixed characteristics of products. Furthermore, it aims to provide consumers with the hedonic experience of play through the joy, fun and uniqueness of alternate experiences.
