Misconceptions of the Freshmen at High School about Plate Tectonics (판구조론에 관한 고등학교 1학년 학생들의 오개념)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate misconceptions about plate tectonics which spread widely among freshmen at high school with drawing. For this, we chose 6 conceptions about plate tectonics by analysis of 7th curriculum and of 11 kinds of science textbooks. Questionnaire of drawing about plate tectonics were developed depending on them. Data was collected from 134 students who was freshmen at high school in Daegu. The result of this study was as follows. First, In structure of plate, 'upper mantle type' and 'crust type' misconceptions were more than half of the respondents. Second, In distribution of plate, 'cracked earthquake zone type' and 'earthquake frequency type' misconceptions were more than half of the respondents. Third, In formation of ocean ridge at oceanic crust- oceanic crust divergent plate boundary, 'divergence type' and 'collision type' misconceptions were more than half of the respondents. Fourth, In formation of mountain ridge at continental crust- continental crust convergent plate boundary, 'collision type' misconceptions were more than half of the respondents. Fifih, In formation of mountain ridge at oceanic crust- continental crust convergent plate boundary, 'subduction type' and 'fault type' misconceptions were more than half of the respondents. Sixth, In transform-fault at oceanic crust- oceanic crust transform-fault boundary, 'direction type' and 'section type' misconceptions were almost half of the respondents. In this study, students' drawings about plate tectonics showed similar misconceptions. This imply that drawing conceptions can be used by the strong evidence of misconceptions which spread widely among students. Furthermore, this study has a significance that this conclusion is useful to teachers as basic teaching-teaming materials of plate tectonics.

  • 국내에서는 1999년부터 국가수자원관리종합정보시스템(WAMIS) 구축 및 운영을 통해 물관리정보화사업을 추진하고 있으며 기초정보분석 중심에서 수자원 계획 수립과 정책 결정을 지원할 수 있는 시스템으로 확대하여 대국민 수자원 정보 제공과 홍보를 활성화하려고 노력하고 있다. 하지만 지금까지 국내에서는 수자원 현황을 평가하기 위해 상수도보급율, 하천개수율 등을 이용하여 수자원의 단편적인 분야만을 평가하여 왔으며 이들 개별지표들만으로 국내 수자원 상황에 대해 국민들이 체감하는데 한계가 있어 이들 사업의 성과를 지수화하여 수자원 정책과 사업의 효과를 국민들에게 적극적으로 홍보할 필요가 있다. 이를 지원하기 위해 2007년부터 2009년까지 수자원 각 분야별 수자원계획수립 업무지원체계를 구축하였으며 수자원 현황 평가를 위해 분야별 평가지수를 개발하고 수자원 통합지수를 선정하여 중권역별로 산정한 바 있다(건설교통부, 2007; 국토해양부, 2008, 2009). 보다 합리적인 수자원 평가를 위해서는 분야별(물이용, 치수, 하천환경) 평가 지수의 공간적 범위 확대 및 세부지표를 추가 고려함으로써 과거에서부터 현재까지의 분야별 변화 패턴을 파악해야 한다. 이를 통해 수자원 관련 정책 및 사업의 성과를 평가하고 구축된 기초자료 및 분석정보를 제공해 줄 수 있는 도구의 개발이 무엇보다 중요하다고 하겠다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 기 개발된 분야별 평가지수 산정 결과와 분야별 현황과의 비교 분석을 통해 지수의 현장 적용성을 검토함으로써 기 개발된 지표의 취약점 및 한계점을 제시하였다. 보다 합리적이고 타당한 분야별 평가를 위해 세부지표를 추가로 선정하였으며 선정된 분야별 세부지표를 PSR 구성체계에 맞추어 구성하였다. 또한 분야별 현황 및 특성을 평가할 수 있는 분야별 평가지수를 개발하였으며 물이용 특성을 평가할 수 있는 지수를 '물이용안전성지수', 치수 특성을 평가할 수 있는 지수를 '홍수안전성지수', 하천환경 특성을 평가할 수 있는 지수를 '하천환경건강성지수'라 명명하였다. 또한 분야별 평가지수를 통합하여 수자원 현황을 평가하고 관리할 수 있는 수자원 통합지수인 '물만족지수'를 개발하여 제시하였다. 분야별 평가지수를 구성하는 각 세부지표의 특성을 파악하여 지표 산정 범위를 점, 선, 면으로 확대하여 제시하였으며 세분화된 공간단위별로 기초자료를 조사, 수집하여 시계열 DB를 구축하였다. 개발된 분야별 평가지수 및 물만족지수를 연도별 표준유역별로 구축된 DB를 이용하여 산정하고 비교 분석하였으며 상대적인 분야별 안전성 및 건강성을 평가하여 지수의 적용성을 검토하였다. 지표 관련 기초자료 및 분석을 통해 생성된 정보자료는 수자원정책 수립과정에서 매우 유용한 정보를 제공해 줌으로써 정책결정을 지원할 수 있고, 일반인과 관련 전문가들에게 수자원 관련 다양한 정보를 제공할 수 있다.

Study on Cause Analysis of Capsizing Accident in Fishing Boat No. 66 Poongsung (어선 제66풍성호 전복사고 원인분석에 대한 연구)

  • According to the statistics of maritime accidents statistics that have occurred in Korea over the past five years, maritime accidents caused by fishing boats have increased every year from 1,646 in 2016 to 2,100 in 2020. In particular, of the 378 capsizing accidents that have occurred in the past five years, 252 capsizing accidents of fishing boats account for a high proportion of 66.7%, therefore, it is urgent to come up with countermeasures. In this study, to determine the cause of the capsizing accident of fishing boat No. 66 poongsung, data such as stability and seawater inflow routes were collected, and the effects of waterproof, additional wood decks, and windbreakers on stability on were quantitatively analyzed. Additional decks, windbreakers, and waterproof installed in No. 66 poongsung cause initial list, deteriorate stability, and fail to meet fishing boat structural standards. In addition, it was analyzed that the stability was weakened due to the characteristics of the hull shape of No. 66 poongsung. To estimate the stability at the time of the accident, the stability at the time of the working in the fishing ground condition, amount of seawater inflow according to the change in sea conditions, hull oscillation situation, and change in stability due to the hull factor were calculated. As a result, the minimum GoM was satisfied at the time of working in the fishing ground, but it could not be restored at the maximum wave height of 4 m, and the minimum GoM was not satisfied at the maximum wave height of 4 m owing to the influence of seawater inflow and oscillation due to the hull list. However, the minimum GoM was satisfied if additional decks and windbreakers installation was excluded among the factors affecting the stability of No. 66 poongsung.

Operation Measures of Sea Fog Observation Network for Inshore Route Marine Traffic Safety (연안항로 해상교통안전을 위한 해무관측망 운영방안에 관한 연구)

  • Among marine accidents caused by bad weather, visibility restrictions caused by sea fog occurrence cause accidents such as ship strand and ship bottom damage, and at the same time involve casualties caused by accidents, which continue to occur every year. In addition, low visibility at sea is emerging as a social problem such as causing considerable inconvenience to islanders in using transportation as passenger ships are collectively delayed and controlled even if there are local differences between regions. Moreover, such measures are becoming more problematic as they cannot objectively quantify them due to regional deviations or different criteria for judging observations from person to person. Currently, the VTS of each port controls the operation of the ship if the visibility distance is less than 1km, and in this case, there is a limit to the evaluation of objective data collection to the extent that the visibility of sea fog depends on the visibility meter or visual observation. The government is building a marine weather signal sign and sea fog observation networks for sea fog detection and prediction as part of solving these obstacles to marine traffic safety, but the system for observing locally occurring sea fog is in a very insufficient practical situation. Accordingly, this paper examines domestic and foreign policy trends to solve social problems caused by low visibility at sea and provides basic data on the need for government support to ensure maritime traffic safety due to sea fog by factually investigating and analyzing social problems. Also, this aims to establish a more stable maritime traffic operation system by blocking marine safety risks that may ultimately arise from sea fog in advance.

Simulation of Flow field and Water exchange Change on the Redevelopment of Busan North Port (부산북항 재개발에 따른 유동장 및 해수교환 변화 모의)

  • In connection with redevelopment of Busan North Port, there has been lots of studies and efforts for the development of superannuated North general piers into a center of marine tourism and waterfront for the citizens of Busan. Recently it has moved to the stage of execution, after several trials to find concrete solutions. On the other hand, the change of flow field and tidal exchange cuased by redevelopment is one of the important investigation subjects. This study deals with the change of flow field and water exchange after redevelopment using numerical simulation technique, based on the general data which were collected and analyzed. As a result of simulation, the speed of tidal currents are tended to decrease near the North and inner-port and increase at the main waterway. Furthermore, the tidal exchange had a tendency to be small both before and after redevelopment by about 77% in a quasi steady state, which is about 15 days after.

  • At Present, Korea government run the 38 points manned lighthouse, the change of Manned lighthouse that manager live is inevitable in orger to enhanced features as aids to navigation and provide a fore efficient management system. There are "Enhancing management system for Manned Lighthouses" four standards(Function of AtoN, Functionality of wide area management, National policy, Marine culture) for evaluation of Unmanned Lighthouses. After collecting these datas, analyzing it, applying AHP and Likert Scale, we choose base manned lighthouses for shorten restoration time that can manage AtoN far from regional office of Oceans & Fisheries. This paper will support efficient management system for AtoN that were scattered in sea of korea and improvement living environment for lighthouse keepers.

  • A meteorological(met) tower is the first structure installed during the planning stages of offshore wind farm. The purpose of this paper is to design the met tower with tripod bucket type support structure and to install the sensors. The support structure consist of a central steel shaft connected to three cylindrical steel suction buckets which is more cheaper than monopile or jacket type. And the remote wind condition sensors and marine monitoring equipment, including adcp, pressure type tide gauge, wave height sensors, and scour sensors, remote power supply are installed. The manufactured met tower constructed on sea area which is in front of Gasa island. All of functions of met tower showed normal operation conditions and the wind data got by remote data collection system successfully.

Seasonal Variation in Species Composition of the Larval Fish in the Han River Estuary, Korea (한강 하구역 자치어 종조성의 계절 변동)

  • Seasonal variation and abundance of fish larvae in Han River estuary were determined by analysis of seasonal samples collected from three channels in the Han River estuary from May 2007 to August 2008. During the study, a total of 3,642 fish larvae were collected belonging to 13 taxa. Coilia spp. was the most abundant (48.8%). The highest number of taxa (11 taxa) was collected in the Jangbong channel and abundance was high in the Sukmo channel (2,428 ind./$1,000m^3$). Brackish-water species were prevailed in the Yumhwa channel and the Sukmo channel, while coastal species were abundant in the Jangbong channel. Canonical correspondence analysis revealed that the environmental factors such as water temperature and salinity had a strong relationship with the abundance of major larvae species.

  • This study aimed to examine the various factors structure of Performance Enhancement Attitude Scale (PEAS) by using confirmatory factor analysis and to provide a suitable questionnaire for elite athletes to measure attitudes toward doping. Three hundred and fifty-five handball players participated in this study and they filled out a self-administrated 17-items PEAS. And 17-items, 11-items, 9-items, 8-items and 6-items PEAS were examined by using confirmatory factor analysis, respectively. 6-items PEAS was suitable to measure attitudes toward doping for adult athletes, and PEAS for adolscent should be developed by being consisted of suitable questions for adolscent athletes.
